Irish life - Surviving Storm Éowyn
Storm Éowyn, the strongest storm we have seen since moving to Ireland. Some reports say it is the strongest storm since records began.
This is our report on the storm and how it affected us. Our hearts go out to anyone affected by Éowyn whether physically or emotionally.
I have tried to clean up the audio and considered muting the wind noise and adding a voiceover but then realised that the sound of the wind created a much better atmosphere.
ERROR CORRECTION: I’m pretty sure that the “elder tree” is actually a hawthorn

How Ireland loves its woodland. Wild camping in Slishwood with @TheWanderingIrishman
Переглядів 29714 днів тому
I go on a wild camping adventure with The Wandering Irishman (David) in Slishwood Forest. David used the shelter that he built over the last year or so. The shelter features in a number of David’s videos and a couple of mine. Gabi and I ask that you watch the video to the end, like, subscribe and leave a comment. All this boosts our algorithm and helps the channel grow. At the time of posting t...

2024 in the rear-view mirror - a review of our year
Переглядів 197Місяць тому
2024 was an interesting year for us. It was our second full year in Ireland having moved from their UK in September 2022. We chart out journey through the year. The ups and the (very few) downs. You see an overview of our life and adventures. One slight cock-up at 19m 50s. The drone is a DJI Neo not a DJI Mini (that’s my other drone) Mrs Old Hiking Geezer and I thank you for your continued supp...

Ireland. Weather or not? | A look at Irish weather and exploration.
Переглядів 382Місяць тому
The aim of this video is to show that Ireland’s weather doesn’t deserve the reputation it has for being bad. That is only part of the story. The weather can be good, and when it is, Ireland is a beautiful country. When the weather isn’t perfect, Ireland can still be stunning, atmospheric and delightful. I apologise for the audio where I am talking to the camera. I was using a new setup, which, ...
75 Facts about Ireland. Chapter 3
Переглядів 7772 місяці тому
This video is the last chapter of a three chapter series on facts about Ireland. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen chapter one or two as, despite the way I’ve numbered the sections, you can watch them in any order. It isn’t your usual travel video as it isn’t about tourist hotspots. It is about life in Ireland and some day to day facts about this lovely country. It is written from the perspective...

75 Facts about Ireland. Chapter 1
Переглядів 7122 місяці тому
This video, the first in a series of three, tries to show you tiny snapshots of everyday life in Ireland. The choices are, indulgently, ours so you may not agree with all of them. If you don’t or even if you do, please let us know in the comments as we like to get the opinions of all of our viewers. They are in no special order as we picked them, randomly, from a list of 75 things. And now a re...
How to enjoy Ireland - the Ballymote Heritage Trail
Переглядів 4003 місяці тому
This video follows us around the pleasant and peaceful heritage trail in Ballymote, County Sligo. We see plenty of wildlife, historic buildings and lovely scenery. I even get the chance to fly my replacement drone. The first serious flight since crashing the previous one. At one point I say Marist Order but the audio makes it sound like Manist Order. My apologies. I also think that I messed up ...
How Ireland charmed this Englishman Part 3 - the simple beauty
Переглядів 2,3 тис.4 місяці тому
The simple beauty of Ireland is often overlooked. Many visitors to Ireland head straight to the well-known tourist hotspots and don’t take the time to stop and appreciate the general beauty that lies in the lesser known spots. Sure, the tourist areas are superb. That is why they attract so many people. So why explore the lesser known spots? Because they have a simple and, in many cases, a gentl...
How this Englishman fell in love with Sligo Town (a tour - part 1)
Переглядів 6624 місяці тому
Sligo Town, the largest town in County Sligo is one of my favourite places. In July 2022 i was house hunting prior to our move from the UK. I had some spare time so I visited Sligo. I fell in love. It was so different to the county towns in the UK. To give an example - We lived in Essex and the county town, Chelmsford, has a population of over 123,000 whereas, Sligo’s population is under 21,000...
