In my most humble opinion, the most beautiful boat yet, if she was a lady we would be talking Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffanys, classy, chic, heart pumping beauty. What a bargain, if only i lived State side my money would be on the table in a flash. Hats off to you gentlemen.
🇨🇦 our family had an Atlantic Clipper 41 from 1977 to 1982 - our father took us 4 kids and our Mom from Toronto, Ontario to the Exumas in the Bahamas in 1977/78. The best year of our lives !!!
My oh my! BEAUTIFUL! Y'all went on a sail on her, didn't you? That is my stomping grounds when I was Stationed at NAS Brunswick! Lived on Bailey's Island and then Bought a house in Harpswell. Lived up there a long time. Hopefully you went to Lands End and took a look at the p e Lobsterman Statue?! And....Ate at Cook's Lobster House!? It was in a Visa commercial, lol! Couldn't believe it. Again BEAUTIFUL boat! Are they saying here right away or waiting on a perfect buyer? WOW! You just brought back a lot of Memories for me! Thank you Capt. Q and Randy too!!🙏❤🇺🇲⛵⚓🍻
Hi there Dan I’m just wondering if you’re the owners father and father-in-law.? LOL I think you’re spot on regarding the both selling capabilities thank you for enlightening are their viewers
@@YachtHunters No, a friends father was a doctor. The doctor previously owned a Tartan Back Watch 37 and went on to buy a new Mariner 40. I was a racing sailor primarily but the Mariner 40 opened my eyes to what a real sea going vessel was and the contrast was great. This was in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Lake Erie. When it was fresh, under jib and jigger on the M40, it was like nothing was going on. Trimmed properly for point of sail, between a close and broad reach, the boat tracked beautifully without touching the helm. The comfort at seas rating is around 48, among the highest for a 40’ vessel. To my mind, comfort at sea is very important and worth sacrificing some daily logged miles. in the 80s, the contrast between boats like Tartan’s, C&C’s, Erickson’s, etc, etc, in a given condition was great. The difference was between boats and a vessel that felt like a ship. So for living aboard and voyaging, with her spacious accommodations and sea keeping ability, a well found M40 is hard to beat.
When you guys show up, the boat’s owner must think the they have gone to heaven! Another brilliant review! Not only do I learn so much but also I roar with laughter viewing each episode. You guys are the greatest. Thank you!!!
The layout speaks of a whole different approach to sailing to the modern equivalent size boat. Personally I love it, the communal feel to the sailing experience. As a non-sailing watcher of many types of boat reviews, from liveaboard power, to these type of classic yachts, I seriously benefit in knowledge from this channel, the history of the boats and the clear explaination of the various rigging styles has finally penetrated my thick skull. An amazing raconteur.
Bravo for doing this astounding beauty! Those boats (the multitude of designs based on that hull) were overlooked for decades and could be bought for dirt cheap. This is probably the finest example I have seen in quite a few years. They are slow but comfortable and extremely safe as well as full of classic beauty. The quintessential blue water cruiser. The ketch rig no longer gets the love it deserves but it makes sailing easier for those who are up in years and allows for a comfortable and balanced sail plan to accommodate any conditions. I am surprised at the price, being a Japanese built version in incredible shape she should be going for a lot more than that. The drone shot at 14:00 of casually running jib and jigger should be enough to sell this boat fast, such a beauty. If I was ready this would be a contender boat. I admit to being gobsmacked by this one, but I have a long term love with that design. Good job Cap'n and Randy, you found an astounding boat for us this week. I bet this sells quickly thanks to this video.
Still Dirt Cheap when one sees they way it was preserved and maintained was, all that Good Stuff, seems to have been done what with the Decks sorted with Fibreglassing that alone today would be serious serious money... A good Survey and then one could see from same what you're looking at, but looking the upload it seems a sound very loved seagoing Craft. and that beamy design would keep you safe in a disturbed following Sea... Great Upload Captain 'Q'...
I admit that I just give them all thumbs up as soon as I start watching because it lets me keep track of which ones I've already seen. 😄 I do always like them, so I'm telling the truth; but more usefully to me, when I turn on one of Captain Q's videos and see the thumb already marked, it means that's one I watched already and didn't realize it. Since they do often have similar titles, it's helpful to have a way to tell!
This was fantastic to watch and a great example of a Bill Garden designed boat. I live on and sail a 1973 Seawolf Hunter and it is a tank and yet graceful. A good balance. And the amount of teak and old world charm in these boats make them cozy. It's a shame so many of them don't get the love and attention they deserve.
This is the most beautiful, and affordable boat, that I have seen! Absolutely stunning! I just can't help but wonder why such a gorgeous vessel is selling for just under $50,000?!!! Once again, my Thursday has been made perfect by your video Captain Q and Ran-Day! Sea Dog loves it too! I also must comment on the Captain's agilty in getting out of the V-berth! I rate the dismount an eleven out of 10! Magnifico!
As a boat owner I can say they are about 10k USD in fees and repairs every year (minimum). After a few years of trying to sell, you get so you almost want to go out and sink the thing to stop the bleed.edit: all the brightwork and teak deck and wood frame is the stuff of nightmares. Boats are the like the epitome of depreciation...
That was a very nimble maneuver getting in and out of the V berth around the compression post Captain. Love this yacht!! She is really special and so beautifully maintained.
Safe to agree, everyone loves Captain Q. It's time you guys make a video on the history of the Captain. I would love for you to peel back the many layers of this living legend and share some stories from the PB. Where he got his start and about his sailing career. We are all excited for that video! Keep up the good work.
I just saw this one, what a great boat. I could see myself living on that boat 12 months of the year down here in the SE US. I really like that you were able to incorporate views of the boat under sail, showing both mizzen and genoa sails up. Wouldn't it be fun to invite buyers to make a video 6 months to a year after their purchase to further the experience for those of us who will not likely be fortunate enough to enjoy such a life. I could imagine an easier way for us older folks to climb into that fore peak birth. Thanks again to you and Randay for bringing me closer to the experience. Looking forward to your next one.
Omg you have out done yourself with this amazing find. She is a real beautiful ship. The pride of ownership is incredible. Thanks for sharing another great video ⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰
Woefully underpriced for such a classic beauty, that has been clearly well loved and cared for. New owners are in for a treat. Thank you Cap’n and Ran-day for finding this gem.
Again you made my day.....she doesn't look 50 but more like late teens by the looks of her.....Gorgeous and well taken for; Kudos for the owners. Thank you again for a great find and sure it won't stay on the market for long. May I say great video, sound and music as always and thank you to you both, you make me dream. Cheers and stay safe
Love listening to your narration and knowledge of sailing vessels which is limitless. Great walkthrough and very thorough as usual, you don't miss anything.
I’ve never sailed before, but that boat makes me want to. It’s so beautifully crafted. The wood and other designs are so esthetically pleasing. It welcomes you aboard. Great, now I’m hooked on these sail boat review videos. Maybe I’ll sign up for one of those sailing classes at the harbor this summer. If I get sea sick, its all your fault guys. Cheers
" There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor. Tomorrow for old England she sails. Far away from your land of endless sunshine. To my land full of rainy skies and gales." Roger Whittaker. This small ship reminds me of that song. A very romantic yesteryear appeal about her and the price as well. " For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can tell." That is the feeling I get when I look at her.
Really appreciate the history of Garden, and references to Monk (I slept a night in monks home on Bainbridge island mid nineties, the door had inteeaved blond wood). Captain and Sandi, great job!
I could get Talked into this... A few ideas for grading... 1) can it be a live-aboard 2) can it sail with only one person 3) Dryness while underway... Basically,,, is it a cruiser, or just for putsing around a bay to say you went sailing in a bar!!! Oh I guess #4) would you sail it to the Caribbean...
Love this channel! When are you doing a Great Lakes version? The differences in boats from salt to fresh water would be interesting. We've got some great sailing on these inland seas
Been watching for awhile now but realized I hadn't commented to thank you for the many hours of learning, laughs, and entertainment. Captain Q's Sunfish is the most suitable boat for my budget and local waters that you've featured so far, but I never cease to be amazed by the grace, beauty, and efficiency of the larger boats that you review, especially the ones that have been lovingly restored/maintained by their owners. This one is no exception, positively stunning craftsmanship throughout. Thank you gentlemen for educating this landlubbing scupper plug about the fine art of sailing and sailing accessories.
Truly, a highlight of the week! Captain Q, Ran-day and Seadog! Excellent narrative by the Captain, videography by Ran-day that I absolutely love, and the ever inquisitive Seadog! I love the lines and the woodwork on this boat. And with a 42 HP engine.
Me too. Just a little, unpolished update vid would be nice. Maybe the CQ could do a quick tour of Randay's 'new' boat, just so it's consistent with the format we know and love.
That is a stunning vessel. Larry Bird or Wilt Chamberlain would be at home in that Saloon. For that price it has to be the best value per dollar to the foot of any that has been shown so far.
Being more of a cruiser than a racer, I think you have just found my PB. Beautiful; full keel, traditional and a Perkins to top it off. She ticks a lot of my boxes. Thanks Gents; great episode.
Fabulous boat, fabulous ketch, fabulous narration, from the Sea. My brother Tomlin, in New Zealand, built a ketch in New Castle. I would like to see that boat.

My favorite bluewater boat so far for the price, size, condition and configuration. I've been watching several channels on sailing and motor yachts over the past half dozen years and Captain Q and his young-er sailing companion are by far my favorite, with all the definitions of sailing mechanics and architechtural boat design terminology throughout your videos. I also just realized not only is the salty dog yours, but also the can of Dinty Moore when you open a locker or some such. And I loved the Plains, Trains & Automobiles clip with the late, great John Candy I'm sure your sailing companion/producer edits into your videos. I've been on the water beyond the sight of land in motor fishing boats in the Gulf of Mexico, I've been to the beaches of Mexico in Acapulco, snorkeling and scuba diving where I saw a Manta Ray swim close to the surface and go right under our canoe from starboard to port as we were paddling out to snorkel around the big above water rock formations. I also got to see the famous cliff divers. All back in the late 1970's. My number one bucket list is to sail The Great Loop on just this type of affordable boat.
Only 40 feet. The interior looked larger than that. Hats off to the owners for their attention to detail. Showroom ready. Probably sold two days after you released the review.
Yea Capn Q & Randee. You've doubled my wishlist, which now reads: 1. Whitby 42. 2. Mariner 40 (or derivatives) Center height under overhead beam looks like at least 6"6". The Mariner 40 looks great for liveaboard, for sure!
This is a lovely yacht, great job, would have been a good one for Ran-day. I can't think of why some of these classics aren't stll being produced, she just seemed to have it all.
I'm worried about our Captain Q's shortness of breath..... Not prying! But we are Praying! Of course, this beautiful boat MIGHT have the same effect upon me... if I could board and IF I could afford. Well Done Video!

I'm also in love with this boat.
Indeed!
That is high praise and well deserved for this boat, its owners and Cpt.Q and Ran-day.
Agree.
I loved looking at that boat...what a classic.
Boats like these are love-hate experiences. Love them for their beauty, charm, ambiance. Hate them for their maintenance.

Ya know, few things can pull me away from a video game. A notification of a new Captain Q video just did it.
"the white telephone" cracked me up. Beautiful vessel, thanks for sharing.
Me as well.
That interior is HUGE!
Wow! Tip of the hat for the maintenance on this beauty! Great presentation! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Captain Q it’s a good job I am not a rich man because you and Randi just showed us another boat I would have bought....another great episode
I sailed a lot on a Mariner 40. Super comfortable in a seas way, I love the Mariner 40.

The dymanic duo keeps raising the bar in boat finds with another jem today.
The way the cabin door fit into the wall was spectacular.
I really like the way you put description/definitions of the things you talk about on the boat videos.

Simply put, she is absolutely gorgeous. The teak work is spectacular. Truly a classic beauty.
Couldn't agree more!
Wow I don’t think I could have exited that v-berth as quickly or graciously Captain Q!! Thanks for another great tour.

Wow! Look! A boat that's already in the water!!! And a gorgeous boat at that.
1970 was great! C-3 Corvettes, rock n roll and some of the best built vessels of all time! Beautiful absolutely Beautiful! Thankx Capt'n
Omg you have out done yourself with this amazing find. She is a real beautiful ship. The pride of ownership is incredible.
Thanks for sharing another great video ⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰
What is a beautiful boat, this is one of the nicest I have seen on this channel. Thank you for showing it.
I love this boat. I'd bring her over to Ireland where she would sit beautifully in Kenmare Bay. I really enjoy your videos, great job...
I laughed so hard when the captain called the toilet, "the white telephone "!😂
Woefully underpriced for such a classic beauty, that has been clearly well loved and cared for.
New owners are in for a treat. Thank you Cap’n and Ran-day for finding this gem.
It’s on the tops of our list… you can tell the owner was a Navy man based on the fastidiousness of her care
Again you made my day.....she doesn't look 50 but more like late teens by the looks of her.....Gorgeous and well taken for; Kudos for the owners. Glad you like them!
Immaculate kudos for the owners on maintaining it like new.
Just a beautiful boat, live aboard for the right person. The asking price is beautiful as well. You’ve done it again Captain, well done.
Thank you, Robert!
Love the Mariner 40!!!❤
For $50k this is one of the cleanest vessels I've ever seen. Deals like this don't come around very often.
I really like the review with the boat at the dock instead of on the hard.
Really nice drone footage of the boat under sail!
Gorgeous, magnificent, what a SY!
Gorgeous boat. Thanks for sharing her!
Thanks for watching!
That's an amazing bargain for that boat!
I’ve never sailed before, but that boat makes me want to. It’s so beautifully crafted. The wood and other designs are so esthetically pleasing. It welcomes you aboard. we'll take the blame. Arm yourself with pretzel rods to ward off any Mal de mer... the salt and bread really helps calm stomachs
That truly is a beautiful boat, inside and out!!! Add solar and some electronics and plot your course.Capt Q you’ve done it again !!⛵️
Thank you

Really appreciate the history of Garden, and references to Monk (I slept a night in monks home on Bainbridge island mid nineties, the door had inteeaved blond wood).
Captain and Sandi, great job!
Fabulous,,, again,,,, only more so! Thanks very much,,, again!
Wow ,beautiful lady! Thanks for showing her!
Thank you too!
I could get Talked into this...
A few ideas for grading...
1) can it be a live-aboard
2) can it sail with only one person
3) Dryness while underway...
Basically,,, is it a cruiser, or
just for putsing around a bay to say you went sailing in a bar!!!
Oh I guess #4) would you sail it to the Caribbean...
Any suggestions for 6’8” headroom? I’m only 6’5” but my boys are 6’7” and 6’8”.
Love this channel!
When are you doing a Great Lakes version? The differences in boats from salt to fresh water would be interesting. We've got some great sailing on these inland seas

For a land lover you are doing a great job of picking up the vernacular thanks so much for your note love to have you aboard

She is phenomenal! What a craft,..
This is what I love to see, it makes me want to reach for my checkbook! Keep them coming!
Still waiting on Randays special show on his recent purchase

What a glorious yacht Captain a tribute to its current owners..you lads have found another gem.
One of my favorite UA-cam channels, really love the concept and work put in to each episode. Unfortunately only ever boat dreams as I live in NZ
We’d like to see it too!
Enjoy your boat reviews very much. Educational and feeds my sailboat obsession. Cheers!
All I can say is WOW!!!
Amazing how you guys keep finding these beautiful boats!
Good morning folks,
Your tour was so compelling I found myself wandering over to grey&grey yacht brokerage.
You won’t guess whose image is prominently posted in the listing.
…youz guys is big time now.

You are a gem Capt.Q! Not sailor here, but it seems like these boats incredible bargains from my point of view. Thanks!
Keeping this one short Cap.
Nice!
Fair Winds 🤙🏻
That is definitely my favourite so far
Thank you again great show of a super nice boat.
Well boys you’ve done it again, great boat , fantastic music , nice way to start the day
Excellent job explaining everything
Yea Capn Q & Randee. You've doubled my wishlist, which now reads:
1. Whitby 42.
2. Mariner 40 (or derivatives)
Center height under overhead beam looks like at least 6"6". The Mariner 40 looks great for liveaboard, for sure!
Has ‘Mrs. Mariner’ got any sisters?
I could use some help with my britework !
You have very interesting views on sailboats. Please keep going
This is a lovely yacht, great job, would have been a good one for Ran-day. I can't think of why some of these classics aren't stll being produced, she just seemed to have it all.
