Quite some work, but the end result would be a very nice home, even if the new owner would like to start a family. The good thing about the broken systems is that you don't pay for almost broken systems.....
My Thursday is now complete! Great video and well edited in my opinion. I've suggested some boats to you, but I now believe you picks are better. I'm always learning something. Thanks again!
I've commented on your channel numerous times before...in fact, I comment every time RubeTube makes an recommendation. Well, here we go again. Looking at your body language and to some extent your vocabulary it's fairly apparent that we're nearly the same age. Both sides of my family (Morgan City, Louisiana, USA) were in the commercial marine industry with my great grandfather having some of the very first seismograph boats operating in the Gulf of Mexico. I had (and still do) have relatives running inland tows, offshore ship assist tugs, offshore tows, oilfield service vessels, and commercial fishing trawlers. I freely admit that I do not know everything there is to know about boats. But I will say that I know more than most people. Having said that, I want to try once more to get you to understand that there are other types of sail boats besides ketches. Yes, it's true. There's even one or two other styles of sail boat that are uglier than the ketch although I understand how hard it can be to believe that. For pure beauty I'll take a schooner any time. The antique overtones of a gaff rig really enhances the looks of a vessel. The simplest of all sail boats, the catboat, is hard to beat even though not the best at sailing. The junk rig can be very difficult to beat when it comes to aesthetics AND for simplicity in sailing. What about the longship of the Viking explorers? The latter boat design I mentioned actually has provided me with the first use I have ever had for a ketch (or a yawl). When time for an authentic Viking funeral, instead of burning a genuine gorgeous longship, conduct the funeral ritual on the longship, then move the body of the fallen hero to a ketch or yawl, and burn one of those hideous water logs in lieu of a real vessel with character and history behind it.
It is hard to beat the beauty of a schooner or the romance of a gaff rig.. totally agree. Cat boats here in New England are also a delight to look at and to sail. I think the favoring of a ketch/yawl must be traced back to an early impression... and it's highly subjective. If it floats, it gets a '10' ;) no exceptions! Really interesting to read that you got to witness a proper viking funeral... we should all be so lucky. cheers, LA
Looks like a great foundation for a project boat that could serve the right folks extremely well. I hope whoever buys her shows her some love and gets her shipshape for more decades of sailing.
I do love the Natures Head. I am so happy I choose a self made composting toilet around the Free Range Design Urine separator. No unnatural smells, easy to keep clean and now there will be a mandatory government seal on the black water dump valve in the Netherlands, I am not getting nervous like my neighbors.
I love this, Capt Q is great, just found one of these lost boats myself , a 41 foot Transworld 41 for 5k sitting 25 years we had her in water sailing in 2 months
Great boat. With her layout she would make a great cruiser for extended passages. With a good refit and refresh she could shine like a new penny. There are far worse "project" boats for far more money.
I just found Captain Q and Ran-Day yesterday and have watched several videos already I have to agree that there are zero reasons to thumbs down these two and or any aspect of their videos Captain Q, Ran--Day and the show are very entertaining as well extremely informative Im looking forward to seeing more and thankful for the show and that I stumbled onto their show
Although I fell in love with the Gulf Star with the nav berth for the grandkids, this, for the price, can be refit with electronics, heating/air conditioning and other amenities. Thanks again. I really appreciate you two, and can’t forget Salty.
My husband and I look forward to your videos every Thursday and we've been sure we'd run into you guys at a Maine yacht yard somewhere along the line. Imagine our surprise when we spotted our 1970 Allied Seabreeze Citation 35 at the public dock in Rockland on our recent cruise at the end of July just over your shoulder in the wrap up at about 25:00. Too bad we didn't realize you were right there. Hope to catch you next time!
Just saying. I came to check out the boats but I keep coming back to see where the wine and dinty moore shows itself. Great videos. Love the charisma Very informational.
Got my "Q" safety hat today,(although here in Charleston, SC "Q" means bbq as in Lewis BBQ) time for some boat hunting. This kind of balances out my wife's love of Househunters. Thanks again Captain & Ran Day!!. Gotta love boats & pucks!!
Captain, you and Randay keep coming up with boats that my best half will not let me buy! This model of boat was one that I dreamed of some 40 years ago. I wish I had the money then that I have today and the price was the same as this boat is today. Thank you for finding these gems in the rough.
Enjoy watching weekly, this is a fine vessel.Liked the interior layout, except no separate shower.I like your commentary, back and forth with Ran Day.You guys are a great team.
Capt Q, music reminds me of Miles Davis. Beautiful design on this puppy. Greatly appreciate compost toilet. Most extraordinary head space and bunk room. Lots of work but a gem of a boat awaits in the process. Thanks so much.
This is a beautiful boat with a great layout. It doesn't really need too much to get it back in Tip-Top condition. But will definitely need new electronics and navigation systems
It would be an added treat to know when the boats you've showed are marked sold and then when it repeats people will just enjoy your show but can keep looking for something else.
Mr Q and side kick “ director”. I m a new viewer subscriber . And I just want to say , thank you thank you. Incredibly informative and entertaining . Love historical reviews , really starts the mind sailing away . Great job
Greetings from York the ancient capital of England. We look forward to your review of interesting sail boats with great anticipation. Many thanks Captain.
Cool channel. I’m glad I came across it. That looks like a great live aboard restoration. Hopefully, she’ll be back in the ocean sailing around the world soon. Thanks for the video. I hope someday to purchase a cheap boat and retire on it and sail around the world. I just moved to and work in San Diego now. I’m doing it out of my van to save money. The pay at the new job is pretty good for what I do, but the cost of living here with rent is ridiculous, so the only way to save is not get caught up in rent and utilities. The weather couldn’t be better for van life. I figure if I save one thousand dollars a month for 15 years, I’ll have a small budget of 180K for getting a boat, outfitting it and setting sail around the world. 6 more years after that, and I’ll be social Security age (I’m 46 now). I think Social Security, if it is still around then, would be great to maybe pay a slip fee somewhere cheap, if there is such a place. I found lately that its best to make things happen earlier than later. Life just goes too quickly. Best to work hard, save money and scratch that sailing around the world bit off the bucket list before its too late.
Delightful production and very informative, I smiled the whole time, well most of the time.. okay, at the appropriate parts because smiling the whole time would be odd.
Captain Q, Ran-Day and Sea Dog are the BEST!!!!! Best channel on UA-cam! No jaguar this week? Has the Captain downgraded his coach to an old silver car :)
Hahaha the link calls for a Pearson 385 but leads to the Whitby. That what happens when you drink the Frexienet too early in the video process. 🤪 Randay!!!
Again great video! I’m surprised how you find all this jewel of sailing boats. Thank you both for the great information over the different boats types!
You guys always do sure a great job, not just informative but entertaining as well. This boat reminds me of a Morgan 41 I once crewed on, a truly dreadful boat. From what I see here this is a much better design on the same concept.
I had the money for this but I just bought 50k bottles of Unduzit coz I'm a chump for a good sales pitch. Loved that all too brief jazzy drone shot of the island! I can't believe summer is almost over....
Wow what a boat. I love that boat, that is what I’m looking for here in Indonesia. I’m a carpenter by trade. I can see restoration possibilities. What a beauty
Great boat with lots of potential. At that price its a good investment, even with the broken systems. I agree with S/V Adams. At that age you would likely upgrade those systems anyway.
I'm just about ready to travel to this Hither you always speak of. Yon I'm not sure about but I will check the reviews. I love a center cockpit, couldn't see cruising any other way.
Great episode I love the technical detail you two go into, as I am a paraplegic I am always on the lookout for a sailboat that is relatively easy for single-handed sailing and liveaboard. Center cockpits are my preference and rear Captains quarters with head. I have modified a few boats but have yet to tackle a full liveaboard. Keep up the good work and hope to bump wine glasses someday. Relaxedjack.
G`day Captain Q and Ran-day, a very handsome boat, needs some TLC but what a lovely lay out and design.. Bit big for a solo sailor but perfect for a family cruiser. Could see some one fixing this up and heading of in to the sunset and for this money throw another 50 k at it and circumnavigate the globe in style. Another wicked episode till next week boogie on boys
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SAILING AT 74 I MISSED THAT BOAT BUT CAPTIAN Q AND RAN-DAY I ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF YOUR CHANNEL I WOULD BUY THAT SAILBOAT JUST TO REFIT HER BUT LIVING IN FORT WORTH TX HAULING SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULD BE COSTLY 225 MILES TO GULF WHAT A TIME THAT WOULD BE, THANKS CAPTAIN Q
Nice boat. Great layout below. Not sure about the low walkthrough to the aft cabin. But overall quite nice. A few bits of fix it juice needed as the boat seems solid with good bones.
My dad looked at a large Niagara. That looked like a Whitby but here préfères a round stern and we looked at a Corbin which I’d love as a live abourd in a cutter as a pilothouse
What kind of mean spirit could "thumbs-down" Captain Q and Ran-day?! Another great video, gents!
Un-duz-it ads?
Oh some people are never happy it seems. How anyone could thumbs down the Captain is beyond me.
A seatopygic imbecile would do that. 😈
@@thomasquinn284 LOL……..I must admit I did have to look that word up.
@@tigerjongreen it is a gem of a word. Glad to share it with you John.
A nice boat for those of us who are handy with tools. Tired old boats are interesting for tired old men.
Not me no more project boats
@@edl617 why not??
As long as you're not crippled up.
Nice boat, but I don't think I could do the work.
@@0ceanview Maybe he's just too tired...
I ❤️ Cap’n Q videos!

The music you use complements the episode perfectly. Very relaxing to watch. 😎

Beautiful boat with a little TLC this boat can take you anywhere!
One of the best things about your videos is we get to see great boat designs from some of the more obscure manufacturers.
Great boat. With her layout she would make a great cruiser for extended passages. With a good refit and refresh she could shine like a new penny. There are far worse "project" boats for far more money.

One interesting fact: the Whitby 42 mizzen mast is the same section as the Alberg 30 mainmast (and close to the same length).
Captain Q, Ran-Day and Sea Dog are the BEST!!!!! Best channel on UA-cam! No jaguar this week? Has the Captain downgraded his coach to an old silver car :)

That bow sprit needs a toilet seat on it and it will fulfill thr function of the ships head as it was for many centuries. Totally traditional.
