    That's amazing news! I was extremely frustrated purchasing tickets for all the sights in Rome. I knew the real ticket price and wasn't able to buy it since the resellers bought them all! Vatican Museums should definitely follow!

      The night tour runs from "sometime" in spring usually through the end of the year. We don't know the start date so I suggest you keep checking back, but March may be too early. It's always somewhat possible it will start towards the end of March this year, since Easter is March 31, but again, we just don't know until they announce it.

    What great news. Unfortunately, we won't benefit as we visited Rome in October. I really hope to be able to visit another time. Btw, your tips about buying tips for the Pantheon came in very useful. I bought tickets when we arrived in the piazza and we walked straight in, past two very long queues. I don't know why more people don't realise this as there are QR codes in the piazza. Anyway it worked out brilliantly for us. Many thanks for your videos, I found them extremely useful. Forewarned is forearmed. Even our trip to St Peter's went well when we had to queue. We went later in the afternoon and waited for one hour before getting in. Perhaps we might try Florence for our next trip...

    OK, I've already left a comment on another video thanking you for your channel, but I just want to do it again on this one in particular because our 30 window is in two days. We have a tour already booked which can be cancelled, but this video just gives me plans should we not be able to secure tickets in advance through the official site and should that third party cancel. Thank you for this video. We want to do the night tour and are planning to book with Walks of Italy. Have you done their tour? Is it worth the extra cost compared booking through coop?
    Good to know about the super pass for the palantine Hill - we will definitely check this out! ❤

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому

      I have done many tours with Walks of Italy and I love them. I have not yet done their night tour. The difference with taking a tour through an agency is that they add more to the tour to make it a more complete experience. For example, one tour I took began at Piazza Venezia and we walked along the via dei Fort Imperiali as nightfall set in, and our guide gave us lots of great info about what we were seeing. So it depends on how much time and interest you have, and also if you want to spend the extra money. I do think it's worth it but it's up to you of course!

    Very helpful video! Thank you very much for sharing so much useful information with all of us 😊 I watched the video just before buying my full experience tickets, but there us a bug in the website and when I select eu citizen it's aways showing that the tickets are for Italian citizens. Do you know what this option is for and if it will be a problem if we buy it citizens' tickets?

    Hello and congrats on your beautiful videos! I want to book tickets for full experience of Colosseum via Coop Culture , and I cannot figure out for sure if the "priority access" that I'm reading is the same to "skip the line" OR I'll have still to wait in the queue! Thank you in advance!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому

      Thank you! All skip the line tickets mean you skip the line to purchase tickets. You will have to wait in a small line of people who have tickets like you, for that time slot. And you cannot skip the line to go through security, but this line is short and moves quickly.

    Hi I know this isn’t coliseum related but can you tell me if Vatican has an after hours tour besides Friday & Saturday night ones? I’m overwhelmed with tours and your the best person to ask, love your videos. I’ve only been there once in 2019 😃 thanks again! ❤

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks a lot for watching my video, and I'm happy to answer your Vatican questions.
      In early January, I will be making a new video about Vatican Tour updates....we still don't know all the changes coming in 2024. Some changes are already underway. This is to prepare for the Jubilee in 2025.
      First of all, the Friday/Saturday night tours are finished for 2023. They always went through the end of October. However, as of 2024, there will no longer be ANY LATE Friday/Saturday night tours. Once I see this is fully confirmed, I'll be updating all my Vatican content.
      Meanwhile, as of January 1, 2024, here are the changes to the Vatican Museums that we know are coming:
      * Tickets will go up from 17 Euros to 20 Euros.
      * Monday - Thursday, hours will be 8 AM - 7 PM, with last entry at 5 PM.
      * Friday - Saturday, + some high-request dates, hours will be 8 AM - 8 PM, with last entry at 6 PM.
      It is unclear at this time what other changes they will be making to their tour offerings. Currently, they offer the "Extra Time" tour, which begins close to closing time and finishes with very few people inside the Sistine Chapel. It includes a happy hour inside the Pinecone Courtyard. I hope they will keep this tour, perhaps moving the hour up a bit.
      They also currently offer a lot of early morning "pre-opening" tours, and I hope they will keep these, as well. But we don't know yet.
      You can see their full schedule here:
      www.museivaticani.va/content/dam/museivaticani/pdf/utilities/calendario_2023_2024_musei.pdf
      For the tours I am talking about, and to get an idea of what's available right now, you might want to check these videos:

    Really great information and very timely as we will be there in April 2024! I am hoping for some clarity on the Full Experience ticket and the Roman Super Pass. Do we buy both of these or just one? We want to go on the arena floor. Sounds like the night tour also takes you there as well as the underground, so we may do that as a separate experience. I am going on to the website to see if I can figure this out, but wanted to ask as you may be able to direct me much quicker! Thank you. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  3 місяці тому

      With the full Experience ticket, you already get access to the Roman Forum and all the SUPER sites. The Roman Forum Super Pass is a separate ticket and does not include the Colosseum. It's ideal for people who don't want to go inside the Colosseum, or who will visit the Colosseum separately, either on a different trip or perhaps at night. The night tour does take you to the arena and underground but does NOT come with access to the Roman Forum at all.

    I have a question what’s the difference between? THE WONDERS OF THE COLOSSEUM: VISITING THE UNDERGROUND AND THE ARENA
    DIDACTIC VISIT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FULL EXPERIENCE vs FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ACCESS TO THE ARENA AND UNDERGROUND OF THE COLOSSEUM

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so much! The didactic visit means you get a tour. When you boo the regular ticket, you will have someone accompany you to the underground but you will get a bare minimum of information. The didactic visit means a Colosseum staff person comes with you and gives you a lot more details.

    Great video! Thanks
    Quick question. I got my online tickets (adults), but I have to collect my 3 year old kid free ticket from the booths. Will I have to do the standard queue? or Is there some kind of "fast line" to pick up free tickets?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому

      There is not a fast lane for picking up kids' tickets, but when you see the long line, you can go to the front and tell them you just want to pick up a free ticket for your child. They should let you jump ahead. Alternatively, you can also collect your kid's ticket right inside the Colosseum just after security. The bottom line is you just need your own tickets and you should not have to wait in a long queue to get your tickets for your child.

    Your videos are SO helpful- Thank you! Regarding Colosseum tickets, I've been looking at the Park Member pass for my husband and myself. Am I correct in assuming that if I buy the pass and book a time into the Colosseum that I will be able to access the arena and underground as well without an additional timeslot? As you said, the full experience tickets are nearly impossible to get (it seems to me anyway) so I am trying to figure out the best way to see it all.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  8 днів тому

      Thanks so much! Glad you find my content helpful.
      No, you do not get any special access to the underground or arena by purchasing the membership pass. There is simply limited availability and it's first-come, first-serve. You can use your pass to not PAY for a ticket, because it's included. But availability is the same for everyone. I find the pass useful because I go to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill A LOT. If you will visit often enough to make it cost-effective, then it's great, but I don't recommend purchasing it with the sole purpose of getting any special access to tickets.
      May I suggest that at the very least, you purchase a regular colosseum ticket? They are easy to get, and you really see a LOT. You can see INTo the underground from the 1st and 2nd levels. You can also see the arena floor. So at the very least, you will see most of what people with the Full Experience tickets see.
      The next easiest ticket to get is the arena floor, as it has the least restrictions in terms of space and availability.
      Hope you have a great visit!

  • @ChristopherMadsen

    @RomeWise Is the S.U.P.E.R sites located inside of Palatine Hill or are they located elsewhere. I was wondering if I could visit Palatine hill on day 1 and then the colosseum and the S.U.P.E.R sites the next day with an FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET? If they are located inside the Hill, is the Roman Forum also inside the Palatine hill or could I maybe visit that for another day?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому

      The S.U.P.E.R. sites are inside the park made up of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. They are extra sites that you couldn't visit without a Full Experience ticket or a Roman Forum SUPER pass.
      So what you are trying to do would not be possible, as once you enter the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill, there is no-reentry with the same ticket.
      I advise you to do one of two things:
      1) Take one full day (or at least give yourself as long as you can) to visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. Plan ahead and figure out what you want to see. Make sure to note opening/closing days of some of the SUPER sites. Visit the Colosseum the day prior or after (it must be within one consecutive day.)
      2) Visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill all on one day to get the lay of the land. Then purchase a Roman Forum SUPER pass (18€) which does not include the Colosseum, and visit the park again another day (does not have to be consecutive with your Colosseum visit since this is a new ticket), and really dive into the SUPER sites.

      Which option did you choose for kids under 18?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +2

      It sounds like they booked for "small groups" which is actually not intended for families but it seems to have worked for them. As I mentioned in the video, you can't currently pre-book for kids under 18 for the standard Colosseum ticket. They removed that option since too many people were using it to simply book free tickets when they were not eligible. And while it is still an online option for the Full Experience Tour, when you go to book, there is no availability so I believe they removed it for this type of ticket also. As I mentioned in the video, the way to book for kids under 18 is to book your own regular-priced tickets, and then to go to one of the ticket counters to collect your free tickets for your kids. Make sure to have ID to prove they are eligible for free tickets, especially if they are teenagers. You should arrive around 30 - 40 minutes prior to your Colosseum entry time. @@estherlee4243

    Thank you for the informative video.
    How many days in advance can you purchase tickets online ?
    It’s April now and the website you mentioned does not show May or June availability.
    Also do you still need to get a ticket online for Free Sunday admission?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Місяць тому +1

      They sell Colosseum tickets exactly one month (to the hour) in advance. You cannot book for the Free Sunday - it's first-come, first serve. I highly recommend against visiting on this day as it's just a lot of chaos, huge lines and crowds, and in my opinion, a waste of your precious vacation time. Hello there. I just bought tickets through your site for the Colosseum and the Vatican.
    How do I pick these tickets up? Do I need paper tickets for the line, or are the e-tickets suffice?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for supporting my work! When you purchased your tickets online, you should have received an email. That email has a pdf attachment.
      In the case of the Colosseum, that is your ticket.
      In the case of the Vatican, you have to exchange that pdf for a physical ticket. Show your pdf (on your phone or tablet) to the guards at the entrance and they will let you in. Go through security and then head to one of the many ticket counters and show them the pdf and they will give you the physical ticket you need to go in.

    Such a thankful video! Can you please help to answer my question? Once you get the ticket at coopculture, do you still have to stand in line to go to ticket booth to collect kid's free ticket or you are simply allowed to go to ticket booth - basically are the tickets skip-the-line?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching. I've answered this to others that have commented on this video, as it's a very popular topic. I realize it's not clear on the Colosseum (Coopcutlure) website how to get tickets for kids.
      When I made this video, it was the case that you had to book your kids online. They removed that option shortly after I made the video.
      The way it works is you purchase your tickets and then go to the Colosseum ticket booth and collect your free tickets for your kids. There is a ticket booth in front of the Colosseum and there will be a huge line. Go to the front and tell them you need kids tickets. They might let you bypass that line.
      Alternatively, and what I would do, you can just go inside the Vatican and once you pass security and BEFORE you actually pass your ticket through the scanner, you will ticket booths INSIDE the Colosseum. There you can also collect your kids' tickets.
      Have a great time!

    Thank you so much for this video. Its the most comprehensive ever. Plus it helps to see which ticket you're referring to by following the mouse.
    Question, so if i purchase my ticket online, i still have to line up at the entrance with the crazy crowds to get my daughter's free ticket? So I'll still be stuck in the long lines and the purpose of purchasing online is defeated?
    Would it make sense to just purchase a ticket for her? Although free is always better 😂

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  3 місяці тому

      Thanks so much for your kind comments. To get the free tickets for your kids, I advise purchasing your tickets and then on the day of your visit, show up about half hour early and go to the line. There are people working there at the front of the line who can direct you as to where to pick up your kids' tickets. FYI the line at the Roman Forum is usually much shorter than the one at the Colosseum. Also, I believe you can collect your kids' tickets directly inside the Colosseum. To be sure, ask at the front of the line as I mentioned. Bottom line, you should not have to wait in that super long line to collect your kids' tickets.

    Hi everyone, great advice once again from Elyssa about what ID to carry. Don't take your passport leave it in you accommodations safe, use your driving licence as to be honest if you are unlucky to be pick pocketed it is easier to replace a driving licence than your passport. Thanks Elyssa another great video.

    • @mooingAlong
      @mooingAlong 6 місяців тому

      Strongly suggest to bring your passport with you always when in Italy mainly because of the random checks the police does especially when you are in Termini. Some of them accept a photocopy of the passport and some are ok with your driver's license.

    • @jemmajumbs
      @jemmajumbs 6 місяців тому

      We got stopped for an id check at Ossiense station early on a Saturday am so it's not just termini. We were heading for the airport anyway so had our passports. Otherwise I used my driving licence, but my 14 year old obv doesn't have one of those so we need his passport.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому

      I know this has been debated and discussed online, including in our Romewise Facebook group. But no police out in the middle of Rome need to see your passport. If they ask to see ID, a driver's license will do.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, Peter! Yes, I am hoping to clear up this issue as I know it's a big question for a lot of people. We ran a B&B for 17 years and I can tell you from experience that it's actually easier to replace your passport in Rome than it is to replace your driver's license. In Rome, we have all the embassies and their consulates can help you to replace a stolen passport (although it's no fun to have to go first to the police to file a report, and then to the consulate and pay that fee and have to do all that waiting.)
      But driver's licenses are state-issued IDs and there is no way to replace them easily while you are overseas. The goal is to not be pick-pocketed of course!
      In any case, at the Colosseum, they confirmed with me that an ID on your smartphone or tablet will also work. So you can scan your passport or driver's license and then leave them both back in your hotel room.
      Thanks as always for your kind support, Peter!

      The very long queues you see are to purchase tickets. You already have one so you don't have to wait in that line. But you will have a short line of others who have the same time slot as you. Then you must go through security. But both of these lines are quick and you should be inside within 10-15 minutes.
      With the Full Experience ticket, you can visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill within 24 hours of your Colosseum time slot, so up to 24 hrs the day prior or 24 hrs the day after. Just note there is no re-entry so once you enter this park. you can stay until closing but you can't go in a 2nd time.

    Is it safe to book a tour through walks of Italy or the Roman guy? Is there a risk of not getting tickets and the tour being canceled?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +1

      I have taken tours with both companies and both are excellent. Any tour company that sells you Colosseum tickets more than 30 days in advance is selling you a future ticket they plan to get when tickets are released. If it's for an Underground or Night tour, especially for high-season dates, there is a small chance they might not be able to get those tickets in which case your tour would be cancelled.
      But MOST of the time, tours are not cancelled. It just does happen to some unlucky people because the supply is lower than the demand.
      You could book one of these tours and make sure they have a free-cancellation policy. Then try getting tickets through CoopCulture and if you can get them, you could cancel your tour. On the other hand, I am a big fan of guided tours and I do recommend you having an excellent guide for the Colosseum, as there is so much history. The Colosseum guides are hit or miss but when you book through a tour company, they care a lot that you have a good experience so their guides tend to be more consistently excellent.

So if you book a tour that includes the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill, and you also want to visit the SUPER sites, make sure to book a tour that visits the Colosseum first, and then when your tour of the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill is done, just stay inside the park and continue on your own to visit the SUPER sites.

    Unfortunately my tour guide just canceled my morning reservation for May 19.
    I went ahead and purchased the 24 hour tickets myself.
    I’m seeing very long lines - can you clarify the lines? Are there lines for ticket purchasing and another line for entrance?
    The lines are very worrying and now that my “skip the line” tour is cancelled, I don’t know if I have time to just wait in line

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 дні тому

      The ticket you just purchased allows you to skip the line to buy tickets on site. That's what the long lines are. There are also lines of people with entry tickets to go inside, but those lines move fast. You also have to go through security, but again, that goes quickly. if you already have a ticket, you do "skip the line" - the line to purchase tickets.
      The ticket you had that was cancelled 8sorry to hear that!) allowed you to skip the purchasing line, it would not have allowed you to skip the entry or security lines. I suggest getting to the Colosseum about 20 minutes in advance but don't worry, you will not have long to wait in those entry lines. Enjoy your visit!

    • @Romewise

      No, you don't need to wait in a long line if you have a ticket. Everyone must go through security so there is no avoiding that line, but usually it's not more than 10 minutes or so. But by booking in advance online, you will save yourself the huge line at the ticket booths.

    Thank you for this video Elyssa! We are going to Rome next week and we booked our individual tickets at CoopCulture to Colosseum 30 days in advance for 9:00 a.m. How much more in advance we should be at Colosseum and where exactly is the entry located? Is there a separate entry for the visitors with tickets or there is one entry for all? Can we enter directly or we need to join the line? How does it work? I would be grateful for your advice :)

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching. You should show up at about 8:30/8:45. There is 15 minutes' leeway on either side of your ticket, and you'll need to contend with a short line of others like you who also have tickets at this time, plus the line for security. The entrance is very easy to spot, don't worry.
      There is only ONE entrance for individual visitors and that's for visitors WITH tickets. There is a ticket booth OUTSIDE the colosseum for people who want to TRY to purchase tickets for a same day visit, but then once they have their tickets, they will go to the same line you will use, the line for ticket holders (there is one separate entrance and that is for tour groups.) Don't worry it will all be very obvious once you go. Have fun!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  25 днів тому

      The massive queues are for people waiting to purchase tickets for that day. When you book a ticket online, you do not have to wait in that queue. However, you will have a small queue of others like you who have tickets in the same time frame. There is also a small queue for security, and you cannot avoid that. So by buying a ticket in advance, you avoid the massive queues, and the smaller queues you have to wait in will only take around 5-10 minutes.

    Hi .. my kid is 5 yr old and we are going in August.. If i have to collect her free ticket at the ticket booth , wouldn’t there be long 1 hour + line ups to collect my kids tickets ? Thank you Also (2) do you think strollers for kids inside the colosseum can be taken and are allowed ?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Місяць тому

      Yes, I know this is a bit confusing. I have answered this question that others have also had.
      Strollers are not forbidden inside the Colosseum, but it can be very difficult to get around both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill with one.
      You would need to use the elevator inside the Colosseum, and there are a few ramps in the Palatine/Forum, so it would be best for you (to see more) if you could bring a stroller that easily folds and fold it up when it's hard to roll it.
      Have a great time!

      Yes, there is a new ticketing agency for the Colosseum and you can now book directly on the official Colosseum page:
      ticketing.colosseo.it/
      For the Vatican, you can still book direclty on the Vatican Museums page as before:
      www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en.html
      Colosseum tickets are bookable up to 30 days in advance and Vatican Museums tickets are bookable up to 60 days in advance. You can also find more availability and longer in advance by booking through a third party, but if you book more than 30 days ahead for the Colosseum or more than 60 days ahead for the Vatican, you are taking a (very small) chance that the agency will not be able to get the tickets and your booking could be cancelled. Mostly this does not happen but since they also have to get their tickets in the same timeframe as you, there is always a small possibility that supply cannot meet the demand and this is why some people who book far in advance may find their tickets or tours cancelled.

      Great info! I'm travelling to Rome February 1st. The tickets for the tour arena and Underground (34€) are not available. Do you know the new website to buy the tickets?

      Yes, as I've mentioned, a new entity will soon be in charge of Colosseum tickets. We are ALL waiting for news. As soon as we know anything, I'll be updating all my channels including this one, my website, Facebook, etc. Please stay tuned! @@paty3197

      @@Romewise We are visiting Rome mid-Feb and have also been unable to reserve night tickets or arena floor and underground. Are they all snapped up or is there still a new entity we are waiting on? Thank you for your help!

    Do you have a recommendation for a third party tour company?

      Yes, in the description of the video, you'll see my recommended links to both the CoopCulture official page and to third party sites I trust.

    When booking "FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ACCESS TO THE ARENA OF THE COLOSSEUM" I do not see options to add an under-18 ticket as shown in 11:11, therefore I don't have an option to write their names. What should I do?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! Yes, when I filmed the video, they still allowed for booking kids' tickets online. They removed that option and now, you just book your own tickets, and then for your kids under 18, go to the Colosseum entrance and you can collect your kids' tickets on site. If you go to the ticket counter and see a long line, just tell someone at the front you have want to collect kids' tickets and they should let you do that without waiting in the long queue. Otherwise, you can also go inside the Colosseum past security and collect your kids' tickets there.
      I know this seems a little confusing. I am waiting for them to change ticket providers (probably in May) and will see if they change the procedure before I make an updated video about how to get kids' tickets.

    Managed to get tickets to the night-tour 7 days before. They seems to release more tickets then and the bots aren't programed to take those!

    For people with Kids, its mandatory to collect physical tickets from booth so they have to get-in line. however for adults who bought their ticket online- do they also need to collect physical ticket from booth before entering to colosseum?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for watching. When you pre-book tickets for the Colosseum, you do not have to wait in the long line at the ticket booth. You receive a QR code and you just show that on your smartphone to go in.
      You can also go inside with your kids and get their free tickets inside, without waiting in the long ticket lines outside the monument.

    Great info! Is there a set time of day when tickets become available on coopculture? So, if June 15th tickets go on sale May 15, what time on May 15th are they first available?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! Yes, they become available exactly 30 days to the hour in advance. So tickets for June 15 at 3pm will become available at 3pm on May 15. You'll want to stay on top of the site and keep refreshing your browser.

    So, now that all the tickets are nominative, tour companies can no longer buy blocks of tickets? So if the tickets are sold out there is no option? This is scary, is it true?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому +1

      I don't think that's quite the way it works. It's my understanding that the tour companies have agreements with CoopCulture allowing them to purchase large blocks of tickets. Once they reseller those tickets to their customers, they will add their customers' names to the tickets.
      I would not give up hope! Tickets are often released in batches so if you don't see availability for what you want, keep checking back!

    Do I need passport to enter Vatican?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 місяців тому +1

      No, you don't. You may need ID if you purchase tickets to the Vatican Museums. Sometimes they ask to see your ID to make sure it's you on the ticket, but 9 times out of 10, I've never been asked. And if you're asking because the Vatican is a separate state and not Italy, then the answer is still no, you don't need a passport to enter Vatican City. You just literally walk onto Saint Peter's Square and you're in!

    • @Romewise

      Skip the line means you skip the line to purchase tickets on site. Once you have a ticket, the line to get in is short and goes quickly.

      @@Romewise Some video I watched before I went, said that tickets were no longer available on site, that they had to be bought on that coop site, on which there was zero availability. I was there Tuesday thru Friday. The lines and the crowds at the big attractions were crazy big. Vitto was the only thing I did for real. Everything else was just the obligatory picture to prove I had been there, and move on. The train from Tiburtino to Fiumicino Friday morning, scheduled for 48 minutes, took 3 hours 25 minutes. Missed my flight. Had to buy an entire new plane ticket home. The history in Rome is stunning, but my experience overall, was disappointing.
