    Brian has always made new music to fit in with the times. Sure I love the sound of 1966, but this is 2015. I trust his ear.

    Brian Wilson IS the musical genius of the Boomer generation who speaks harmoniously of the kind of life we left behind willingly or unwillingly back during the Soaring Sixties and the Spectacular Seventies!

    This is some incredible stuff. Autotune or no autotune, this is pure BW. Dosen't get any better than this.
    I'm anticipating No Pier Pressure so badly! Can't wait any longer

    That is not autotune. That is voice doubling or double tracking as it was called.

    • @toastyplatters70
      @toastyplatters70 9 років тому +1

      True, but it seems the trick now is to automate his double tracking, instead of him doubling his parts manually. Sounds like they are simply "chorusing" his vocal with outboard effects.

      ***** It certainly sounds robotic. But nowhere near CHER style robotic, lol

    Part of what's wrong with the world today is there's very few artists like Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Jimmie Spheeris, James Taylor etc. to listen to and relax and feel better in this shit hole we live in !

    Who cares!! Everybody's a critic!! Brian's been going through this kind of crap since he began. It's a studio recording!! Just listen to the song!! Hum!! Let me think! I wonder if The Beatles and George Martin ever used the latest technology available when they were making records!!

  • @GreyStreet43
    @GreyStreet43 9 років тому +4

    At this point in his career, it's all about creating the music and not so much the vocals. Hence why he brings in so much talent to lend a hand. Brian's voice just isn't what it used to be during his Beach Boys days or his early solo work.

      I agree with you Gelpgim22. I'm just stating my opinion about this latest album.

      His voice is actually better now than it was in the 80s tbh, he really damaged his vocals back then

    you need to put David Marks in there with Al and Blondie :)

    • @butlerbMMO
      @butlerbMMO 9 років тому +1

      He was involved, not entirely sure if he sung background vocals but he did play on the record.

      Brandon Butler
      they just need a quick photo of him - he was a Beach Boy too - as much as Blondie...and he has lots of great guitar licks all over this record.....

      @Landrew120880 9 років тому

      Brandon Butler Brian said that David provided no vocals on the album in a recent interview. I'd like to of heard him sing ya know, as an original Beach Boy he should get a little mo respect.

      he played a bunch of guitar on this album - or at least some..

    NO PIER PRESSURE could have been the follow-up to THAT'S WHY GOD MADE THE RADIO if Mike Love hadn't been the jealous, vainglorious prick he's always been. So much for two great Beach Boys albums in a row!

    • @CastleOfThoughts
      @CastleOfThoughts 9 років тому +1

      Oh yeah, everything is Mike Love's fault. The blame game ain't workin' for me. If not for Mike Love, The Beach Boys would be nothing more than a distant memory who never made it past 1967.

    • @captainfantastic9158
      @captainfantastic9158 9 років тому +7

      Carl, Dennis, Al and Bruce would have faded into obscurity after 1967 without Mike Love? And Brian would never have written anymore good songs after 1967 without Mike Love? The guys wouldn't be in the R'n'R Hall Of Fame without Mike Love? SERIOUSLY???

    • @NateRuvin414
      @NateRuvin414 9 років тому +1

      Captain Fantastic Yeah Carl, Dennis, Al and Bruce are some of the best songwriters of all time. Carl and Dennis made some great ballads and rockers, and I think Bruce's "Disney Girls" is one of the greatest Pop songs of all time. I think Bruce should've won his grammy for "Disney Girls" instead of "I Write The Songs".

    • @captainfantastic9158
      @captainfantastic9158 9 років тому +1

      Ha! I agree with "Disney" over "Songs," but personally, I think Bruce should have won for "Deirdre," his best song ever, and my favorite on SUNFLOWER. ^_^

    • @NateRuvin414
      @NateRuvin414 9 років тому +1

      Oh yes, I love "Deirdre". Not only is it a beautiful song, but it has great falsetto vocals.
