As Brian is now, by all accounts no longer able to be musically present we can truly see this gift of revival of Brian Wilson concert as a watershed moment. After decades of various mental challenges Brian found his muse once again in his backing band, The Wondermints. If only for a period of about ten years total we have the proper glimpse of the genius of Brian's music performed once again with precision and accuracy. Sure, Brian isn't able to reclaim his once amazing vocal range - though with the sympathetic and amazing support of this band, and in front of this no less amazing miracle "one-off" sea of humanity, it's once again the sixties with the full power of the songs connecting with a vast sea of humanity gloriously. This is like a gift from above we can all share a piece of. Though, not to my knowledge, ever released on any medium commercially this performance is so spectacular in power that it, to me at least, eclipses the 50th anniversary Beach Boys concerts. There is a palpable, beyond comprehension, connection to this performance and the vast audience present here. I'm, as my Brit brothers and sisters say, gobsmacked. This is a performance and event for the ages and is right up there with Concert for George and The Band's Last Waltz. Please BBC make a pristine version available for all of us to bask in. Yes, I'm passionate about this and want others to share in what is like a gift from above.
Good memories when people could be less than 6-feet apart! Seriously this is one of the best Glastonbury shows I've ever watched and I've watched a few. The music rules here and this band is tighter than tight....actually better than the 50th anniversary tour although I miss Al Jardine just a little II must admit. I've got this show burned to DVD from a post on Usenet that was a digital copy of the BBC broadcast. It's much clearer in video and audio. It's one of my favorites along with Concert For George and The Last Waltz. Yep, it's that great. What a latter-day triumph for Brian and a huge sea of humanity. For the ages!
@@chidell True he doesn't get close to those ethereal highs,, but if you've followed him this was a given. That said ,if you really really dig the music and are kind of in awe of anyone who for all practical purposes was one of the finest songwriters/arrangers that has walked the earth but effectively died... then this is an huge triumph.

10:10 the way he threw that inflection into his lead, his singing is so hit and miss in his advanced age but this just proves his could still do it if he really tried
It makes me sad that The Beach Boys are regarded less in their home country than they are in other parts of the world. Don't get me wrong, many in USA love their music, but few understand how much they contributed to the evolution of popular music. They get it in Britain, where they seem to be regarded as equals to The Beatles. Also, RIP Nicky Wonder.
Mostly Mike Love's fault. He relegated the Beach Boys to playing legacy. Brian Wilson is the true heart and soul of that band and still writes music to this day.
It's a little more complex than that to be honest. In the USA The Beach Boys are celebrated as America's band, but as an oldies act - the material between 61 and 65 for its nostalgia and cultural impact. They're big in the states. However, you're right in that their avant-garde material between 65-73 completely went under the radar due to a series of poor public relations and bad decision making - with Mike Love absolutely responsively. However, during that period The Beach Boys continued to shift considerably more albums in Europe than the states!
I think that this, the first of Brian’s band members, is the best. Great to see Brian energised, sadly seemingly not really engaged in his 2022 shows with Chicago.
You saw him for the last time in 2022. Oddly in October 2021 I saw him and he did practically all the lead vocals strongly. What happened in the 8 month period is the question? Father Time I guess...
@@tomjones5650I wish they'd give him a rest already. It sounds like his band is who wants to tour but on the condition that Brian will be on stage to draw the crowd. He's always loved sitting at home doing nothing. Let him do it
I was 2️⃣ years old in 2005 but i wish i was there cause i would sing every song word for word thanks to my older sister who raised me on The Beach Boys from a baby
My eldest brothers were the original (as in, the first) surfers in Sonoma County, CA. We had on the old Heathkit stereo literally every Beach Boys album as they came up. Born in 1954, literally grew up on the Beach Boys. They performed (drunk!) in Santa Rosa in probably 1964. Me eldest bro was probably first in line to get into the brief concert. ❤
Great Band! That MD on the keyboards did a great job conducting as well as playing and singing his parts. Everybody executing their harmony parts brilliantly on a festival stage, probably with a limited line/sound check. The rhythm section negotiating the tempo changes with ease.
Wow! Thanks for this! Beach boys and the kinks are my 2 faves! Hopefully Glastonbury be be be back in action real soon! and we all can enjoy some more golden oldies! Glasto f❤️rever!!!! 🇮🇪😉
very cool new released 2005 england.... a year after the release of ..SMILE... nice to new LIVE... music comin from the house of WILSON...all of us BB..BW.. fans need u to release music so we dont go...INSANE,,,covid 19 ...GO AWAY.....!!! thx brian
Very Much Appreciated! I was born in 61 & consider myself a child of the 70s so i never really appreciated the BB as i do now - especially as a lifelong weekend warrior songwriter & musician. The creation and growth of music through the 50s - 70s was pure magic. Sadly, much of the (pop) music post 70s to today just continually rips itself off & tries to retread the same cowflop. What is worse (IMHO) is the audience has been so dumbed down that a tune with more than 4 chords is considered to be a miracle. Throw in a key change & the average listener would probably have an aneurysm being unable to fathom this 'strange & new' (dare i say, paradoxical?) form of music...
Oh I'm sorry, I should have contacted the VCR company 15 years ago to upgrade their recording technical ability to 4K because some snotty, ungrateful asshole in 2020 would be upset.
This is probably the best he’s sounded since the 60s until 2024.
England has always been good to Brian and The Beach Boys. Respect from 🇺🇲

There's no better writer, director, producer or performer than Brian Wilson. Wish i could have been there. Thanks Brian.
Wish Dennis, Carol and Al were there also. WOW what a sound of Good Vibrations.
Brian is my religion but he is not a great live performer
Yes Al should be included, Thanks .
