This was the 1980's, when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards had seriously fallen out and Mick was trying his hand at being a solo star. Keith was furious and said in an interview: "if Mick tours without us I'll slit his throat". Here we have 'solo Mick', performing with other stars, doing a Stones song without any of the Stones - Keith most likely saw this on TV and got even more annoyed! Luckily Mick and Keith became friends again later, reformed the Stones, and toured again as a full band.
@@WolfNippleChips71 Keith had a side project called 'The New Barbarians' in the 1980's, when the Stones reformed in 1989 Mick said in an interview "I never understood why Keith was so upset when I did something outside of the band - he had already done things with The New Barbarians". Mick and Keith's relationship started to fall apart when they were recording the 'Dirty Work' album in Paris in 1985, and plans for a tour following the album were scrapped. They then fell out completely and spent from 1986-88 slating each other in the press. Keith later referred to this period between them as "World War 3". The decision for the 5-piece band (Bill Wyman was still with them then) to convene in Montserrat in 1989 to record the 'Steel Wheels' album was a risk but they decided to give it a try, Mick and Keith made up and the band completed the album. They then embarked on an enormous world stadium tour, which was at the time the biggest tour undertaken by anyone. They did 5 nights at Wembley stadium in London in 1990, all sold out, and me and my friend went to one of the shows.

He also kept the band afloat when Brian was was in a drug induced haze. He also helped create Kokomo which made the band relevant again to a younger generation and it's still iconic today as well.
@@80steen44 Sure thing, Mike.
@@strnglhld nah, I'm much younger than him. That's why my name is 80s Teen, I'm Gen Z, teenager in the 80s
Can 1983 come back and take Mike, leave Dennis?
What an ignorant comment!
Brian Wilson doesn't even like Mike Love.
Who does?
Can you blame him????
Mike reminds Brian of Murray, Brian's dad, who wanted to be in the spotlight and was a narcissist. Runs in the family, I'm afraid.
Brian Wilson once said about Mike Love, “I don’t like him at all.”
I seen that video
Love should have been wearing his Get Off Of My Lawn! t-shirt.
Jagger could have come back with his Get Off Of My Cloud! T.
Jagger obviously up staging Love by standing right in front of him.....
It's so hard to watch but I can't stop watching.
Mike only reflects shame next to all those true legends
Bruce Springsteen looks like he just came from court for his DUI charges.......
BS is a lap dog liberal of the lowest degree.😂😂😂😂
😆
Charges were dropped when his breathalyzer test showed he was well below the limit
@@vernwallen4246 Beats being a bootlicking right-winger trying to slap down one of the most successful musicians in history.
@@vernwallen4246 At least Springsteen isn't Matt Gaetz. The Republican's stock is pretty low at this point.
I like how Mike's back was to the audience at the end. I think he was expecting be be shamed more aggressively by Jagger, who as a class act just let him be a foolish tool on his own. Nice tamborine drop Mike...purely a grandpa move while trying to keep up with a Rolling Stone who can never gather no moss !
The best part of the vid is 1:40 till the end when Mick gives Ben E King the “I got him, didn’t I” look, Ben confirms with a hug, then Mick shakes Springsteen’s hand right in front of Love....GOLD!!!!😂😂
Mick Jagger has a hate-Love relationship with Mike.
Well Mick certainly put that guy in his place and made made him look like a total macho wannabe loser! 😂
I Loved how he stole the performance and totally ignored the jerk. ❤️
Until the end when he turned to him and pointed at his heart, like "Yeah, that's just where I stuck the sword."
.
@@ty9884 As much as I want that to be true, Mick's actually shaking someone's hand.
Can't stand Mike Love.
Mike love = giant tool
That’s an insult to tools.
Tools are useful.
Small tool...
I think that would have to be the longest time Mike Love kept his eyes on one man, and not on a single woman
He claims it’s all because he didn’t meditate that morning. 🤣😂
Meditate or medicate?
🤣😂 Must be TransMental Meditation.
imagine what he would have been like if he had. the practitioners of that shit are the angriest people in the world.
mike love? oh, right, he's that guy who contributed something I can't think of to the Beach Boys ..
I have no idea who Mike Love is, and I'm not just being facetious.
.
Mostly alot of useless noise.
Just had an idea of who's this guy thanks to this self-shame video.
He wrote komono. Possibly the worst well known beach boys song of all time
Wow...that was just sad. "Pleeeeease look at me!!!"
Mike Love is the Fredo like in the Godfather saga.
I'm smart, not like everybody says, like dumb, I'm smart and I want respect!!!
"I can't get no, mic-ro-phone time" M Love
Jagger prefers to share the stage with people who have actual talent, for Mike Love he decided to make an exception.
It was Mike Loves, make a wish foundation request. with the complementary meet & greet, the hat & buffet voucher.
Why was Springsteen there then?
Beach Boys is the only group in which the background singers had much better voices than the lead vocalist.
Not a dig at Davide Lee Roth(one of Rock's iconic voices), but Michael Anthony, just saying...
@@RockPunkFloyd Yeah, their background vocals were beautiful. Did he ever sing lead on any of VH’s songs?
@@geraldobrien7323 your comment didn't specify a backup singer who would sing lead on occasion.
@@RockPunkFloyd Michael Anthony
I used to dislike dr.love but he's a genius too, wrote lotta classic lyrics.
Wow. That was the best thing I've watched in a while. 😁
Don't forget Keith's solo stuff too
@@WolfNippleChips71 Keith had a side project called 'The New Barbarians' in the 1980's, when the Stones reformed in 1989 Mick said in an interview "I never understood why Keith was so upset when I did something outside of the band - he had already done things with The New Barbarians".
@@jeffoliver7491 Well written and thanks, Jeff 😀
@@luckygibbo1 No problem, The Rolling Stones have always interested me - stories to do with the band, and the bands history, I find just as interesting as their music.
The Stones never broke up, they have been going since 1962. This was for The Beach Boys Rock ‘N Roll Hall Of Fame introduction and I’m pretty sure I can see Keith playing in the background there. Good story though 👍
