    have you heard anything about the 5th gens and their hydraulic lifters making a “typewriter tick” at idle…. a lot of people notice it after a fresh oil change…the internet is full of possible things it could be…anything from a new cam and lifters to valve lash on the cp3, or a loose exhaust manifold…just curious if you’ve had any experience with this or spoke with anyone that has. beautiful truck!

    Mine is a 2021 and I always have my exhaust brake on Auto, and "full" if I'm towing. They are impressive! Do you have a list of performance mods you've done to your 5th Gen? Mine is tuned and deleted with 5" straight exhaust, S&B intake and ccv delete. Any suggestions on other mods? Great video!

    You can set it either to turn on the exhaust brake when youre on the brakes or when you lift off the throttle. It also disengages below 1k rpm. Should throw some air bags on the rear for that rear squat.🎉🎉

    The exhaust brake increases soot loading of the oil. The more you use it the faster you load the oil. If you change your oil more often than most then it will be fine. Nice set up. Like the boat.

    I own a 2021 6.7 HO DRW with the Aisin. I daily drive it and it’s a rough ride. You have to really learn how to use the throttle and brake to maximize comfort. As far as reliability it’s a tank. Sometimes I forget I have a trailer back there and when loaded it’s very comfortable. The air suspension helps also. She is going on a diet this summer since I got the P2459 code and seems like it’s gonna go downhill from there.

    Higher the rpm the better the exhaust brake works. A tap on the brake makes the truck shift down which makes the rpm’s higher.

  • @jsav5845
    @jsav5845 10 місяців тому

    Doesnt the exhaust brake recirculate dirty exhaust through your engine though. Or am i wrong in how it works? I never use mine, dont tow very often.

    • @darkirondiesel
      @darkirondiesel  10 місяців тому

      Nope, the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) on your truck recirculates exhaust back into your engine. I removed the EGR on my truck. The exhaust brake simply restricts the amount of exhaust exiting the turbo which makes the engine have to work harder to push that exhaust out, which makes the engine slow down.

    • @jsav5845
      @jsav5845 10 місяців тому

      @darkirondiesel Yeah, my truck is deleted. I don't have any of that dumb shit left. Good to know I was wrong about how it works though. Just did the Monster Ram intake elbow and stock grid heater delete a couple of weeks ago along with a RPI Diesel intake, and man did it make a huge difference. Getting a white puff of smoke when I start up now though. Maybe need an update to my tuning even though banks says you don't. I'm not sure exactly, going to have to see what they say.

    • @darkirondiesel
      @darkirondiesel  3 місяці тому

      I find the 68rfe exhaust brake is much less noticeable. I think this is because of the gearing and the lower rpm of the 68rfe. Try using your exhaust brake in tow haul mode and you will notice it more.
