- I saw Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief play a solo show last night, although the second half of the show she was accompanied by a violin player and a piano player. While on the subject of concerts I thought it was time for another Memory Tickets, so I drew 5 random ticket stubs.

Really enjoyed this....always like to hear your memories of the many different shows you've been to. Sounds like Adrianne put on one hell of a show...hoping she comes to Wales and/or somewhere close in England at some point again soon. That album is my favourite of 2024 still.
I hope she does so you get to see her. Otherwise I'm sure Big Thief will play there before too long.

Nice! I was there at that Seattle show too. Unbelievable performance. On the level of when I saw them at Red Rocks last year
Cool you were there last night. Red Rocks…have yet to see a show there. Bet that was incredible.
The lack of physical tickets might explain the long lines at the mech tables.
Loved all these stories. Maybe Adrienne Lenker was selling strands of Noah Lagan’s hair at her merch table? Apparently all the youths love that guy. 😅

Still haven't seen Adrianne live or listened to her solo records. Very familiar with Big Thief. I guess I need to change that! I left Madison in August 2001, so we did have some overlap. Wonder if we were ever at the same show❓Saw many great shows at the Barrymore. I just had to miss Lucinda when she played here a few weeks ago. It was right in the middle of all the issues with my family, so I had to miss it. So bummed.
It would be interesting to find out if we were ever at the same shows. I was there from August 2000 to August 2002. Madison....all the moves had to happen in August. Barrymore was a great place. Now the big question is whether you ever tried the smut and eggs...

Always felt like Aimee Mann's "Charmer" was a pretty underrated album. And I also liked the project she did with Ted Leo, The Both. That album had some really catchy songs on it.
I've never heard the Ted Leo project. Will look for it.
I listened to the most recent Adrianne Lenker album this morning after watching this. So damn good. Are you a fan of MJ Lenderman? His music seems like it’s right in your wheelhouse.

@@lostmixtapes Boat Songs is a great indie record. He is also part of the band Wednesday, which released my favorite record of 2023 Rat Saw God.
