My first car was a 1960 falcon sedan in red. I traded that in for a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible in black paint job with red buckets interior and black top. Was a cool little car and kept it for a few years and then purchased a new Pontiac Lemans Convertible 1968 Model . That was my very favorite car over the years.

At 9:44, the brochure shows the under dash air conditioner. By 1963, most of the full-size, higher-end cars had the guts of the AC and the AC vents incorporated into the dashboard. In the smaller, cheaper cars, like the Falcon, many were still units which bolted into the bottom of the dashboard and were not much different than aftermarket units. Also at 9:58, note how the backup lights were optional extra-cost equipment. If you didn’t order them specifically, your car had no backup lights! I’m 70 years old and lovingly recall how you could “check the boxes” and order exactly the options you wanted while bypassing the ones you didn’t want. Nowadays, you have to order “packages” on most cars and often are stuck with a fancy option you don’t want just to get something you do want.

I so agree with Dennis's opinion that the '63 was the best Falcon. Ford designers hit the nail on the head with that model. It's a very hard choice, but, by a VERY slim margin, I would go for Dennis's blue Sprint hardtop. That body with the fastback top is just perfection. Also, the straight six is very deceiving engine. If you drive an old car with one, you find that there is no sensation of it being under-powered. They may not rocket from a dead stop, but they're perfectly adequate. In-line engines are very well balanced.
Wow Lou when I first saw this at the beginning of this video a Ford product and the route he was taking I knew this was Dennis! This unit looks like it was made just today. My gosh I would be afraid to drive that anywhere. I love those wire hub caps and the color in and out is so sporty. That design on the inside of the doors was so impressive. Boy that Dennis never ceases to amaze me with what he has next. I am always so anxious to see what he has collected. I hope Dennis has more for us to enjoy. My gosh he is quite a guy and so knowledgeable on his units. That ride along was fun too! As always thanks Lou for sharing and Dennis too!
Very nice Falcon and nicely detailed as well. I've owned a 63 Ranchero with the same 170 w/ 3spd since 78 . These were great stylish reliable cars. Great on gas easy to maintain.
This is a great Falcon - I can totally believe the 100 point score. And the Trunk and Treats are awesome, I love the old materials. Fantastic restoration job and impeccable attention to detail. I was concerned when I saw the bar codes on the spare tire that the judges would ding Dennis for a point. Dennis is a fantastic curator for legendary classic cars. Hi Jeff, This one was amazing, it's like stepping right back into the Dealer showroom, and taking the car for a "spin" :-) My pleasure sharing this step back into 1963 with you, and you're welcome, Lou
I grew up in the 80s, and this meek economy car Falcon dressed-up as a fancy convertible, reminds me some of the humble Chrysler K-Car-based Chrysler LeBaron convertible introduced in 1982. This is a charming Falcon!
I used to change my oil every 2500 miles, as well as many others I know back in those days. My wife has a 2017 Elantra, and I was so impressed because they called for 5000 miles a oil change, yet this car is calling every 6000 miles or 6 months. Learn something new every day....
Well, there you go again, Lou, stirring up old memories. Fine looking Falcon, indeed! I bought a '62 Falcon as a teenager, loved it. I soon found out the 144 c.i. six it had was shot- bad main bearings. My Dad and I installed a 200 c.i. engine from a wrecked, low-mileage '68 Falcon and wow, my first hot rod, sort of. Really great to see the old cars again looking so good.

I enjoyed collecting car brochures from the dealerships in the late 60's (as a pre-teen) through to the late 70's. While there were many great brochures, I don't recall one as fun as the '63 Falcons featuring the Peanuts Gang. Nice to see! Thanks Lou👍
Dennis is a treasure........ love seeing cars from his collection. My uncle had one of these Falcons back in the early 60's ( 4-door) so not quite as iconic as this one! Again, thanks for showcasing yet another piece of Ford's history!😉

In 1971my best friend went away for the summer and left me his 63 falcon convertible 260 4sp the top didn't work but It was summer so no big deal. I tried to buy it from him but he wouldn't sell. This video brought back some great memories
Being a 60s 70s kid I have some Falcon stories... Dennis has another beauty there with that 100 pt. drop top 👍 My thanks to you and Dennis,. Keep'em coming Lou 👍👍
Beautiful car, superb restoration. Australian two doors are VERY rare, my first car was a white 64 Falcon station wagon, soon after a red four door, and my sister's second car was a blue 64 station wagon. They cruised like small limo's. I truly love these models. This was very informative and a great look at a true classic.

The ‘63 was the best looking Falcon to me. When I was 11 years old, my dad bought a white, brand new, 65 Falcon. Even though it was the top-of-the-line Futura, it was very boxy and square. The ‘60-‘63 Falcons had a bit more curvature and flair and just looked more pleasing to me. Boy, I’d love to find a ‘63 Futura Sprint droptop with the 260 V8 and 4-speed. Those were sweet little cars!!!

Wow Lou! You've made my day! This has to be the best '63 Falcon Futura i've ever seen!! What a high quality restoration. I'd love to get one of these - import it to Australia & convert it to RHD. The Aussie RHD dash is identical. Tiger.
What a great car! Being a kid in the 1960’s, I never appreciated these (as well as a few others), but I sure do today. Options, options, options! Today, you get a choice of black, white, or 50 shades of gray. Oh, and the all-out wild dark metallic color of red. LOL!! LOL!! Thanks Lou & Dennis for a great presentation!
Another great video Lou love watching your channel. Always loved the look of the Falcons my grandpa had a blue 62 and a red 65 both 2 door hardtop. My dad used to get to drive the red 65 to high school every once in a while.
Hi Alejandro, My pleasure sharing this one with you :-) It's like going right back to 1963 and stopping by the Ford Dealership to take it out for a "spin" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Thanks for posting this video. I have a '63 Futura convertible with the 170 Special. Other than wheels and tires, I strive to have it look as stock as possible. What I appreciate about your video and your other video on the 63' 260 hardtop Futura is the reference material I can gather to help my Falcon look better and look more like it did when it shipped from the factory in 1963. For example, I noticed the tops of the shock towers are painted the gun metal gray vice the semi gloss black as is the rest of the engine compartment. I also notice the fuel filter canister is just zinc plated and has red lettering on it marking it as the fuel filter but it isn't painted white like the other fuel canisters I've seen....another great tip! I also see the service at six thousand miles sticker on the inner driver side fender well.....From what I've read this was used on later Falcons and not the '63.....again, another great learning point. the fender bolts look to be zinc plated and not the unpainted, but still black finish as I've used on my car.....again another great learning point. lastly, the valve cover with the embossed Ford on it......I have one but I was told it was not used on the Falcon 170 engine.......i may just have to install it on my car now. thanks again for posting these....i will be watching them again to pick up even more little details.

I'm not sure I ever saw the convertible model of the Falcon as a kid growing up in the 60s. My aunt had the 2dr hardtop. What I do know is that you're killing me by showing these beautiful machines of a bygone era. You're heartless Lou Constable! 😭
Around 1965 my brother had a 63 Falcon convertible, but it was a 6 cylinder, 3-speed on the column. He let me drive it once and it was very enjoyable. The survival rate on Falcons seems pretty low as you hardly ever see one.
@@loucostabile thanks for responding, Lou! 😁 After my day got rid of the Falcon he bought a 69Camaro, it was also white, and it was a convertible...but he sold that before I was even born, I wished he would of kept it,😄
Goodday Lou, Another gorgeous, beautiful Ford from Dennis. We had the same Falcon & Futura here in Australia. The XM & XP Falcon. My first memory of a car was that of a family friends of ours back in 1973 with a XM Falcon Station Wagon with the wood panel on it. Absolutely gorgeous. I was 3 & I still remember that wagon. Just last month my friend Adam sold a XM utility. He was swamped with people wanting to buy it. The XM & XP hatdtop was the only hardtop Ford had in Australia throughout the 60's until the XA Hardtop was realised in 1972. Both XM & XP were not offered in a V8 in Australia but plenty of people dropped 302 Windsor motors under them. Beautiful all round. Stay warm, take care. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
Goodday Louis, "I was 3 & I still remember that wagon." WOW...yep, You're a confirmed Car Guy :-) Happy to read this is one my Friend in Australia is familiar with, and my pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
I have the 1962 ford falcon from my great grandpa he served in World War 2 and was a craftsman in Alabama thats where we live, they built a house in the 50's and owned all fords we have a 1964 Ford Wagon and a 1962 Falcon which the 62 falcon is mine, and there is also a 1968 mustang which is my uncles car. Im super excited to restore my falcon its in good condition and we spent over 1.8k just for the parts,we are planning to restore it sometime and finish it around this summer.
Speaking of Trunk n Treats. Yes, Dennis is correct that after you bought your new car in the sixties Ford sent you a brochure and an attached order form that showed pictures of the models that you could order. The models were free. This was an offer made only to customers that bought a new car. The choice included the pre assembled model of every model line Ford made, but also it included a model kit of a previous Era. In 1960 both my Dad and Uncle bought Falcons. That year the offer included a kit of a Model T. We opted for that kit while my my uncle got the Pre assembled Falcon. In 1963 my dad bought a Galaxie. That year the offer included a 1932 Model A Victoria. We again opted for the kit. I don't know how many years Ford made this offer and if it included a similar offer for New Mercury buyers, but we didn't receive one in 66 or 69 when Dad bought Mercury's.
Compact Fairlane? Same old Glen Plaid trunk liner that came with every Ford. wheels look freakishly small compared to modern sizes. Futura nameplate, was this meant to evoke, the vehicle was a portent of the future? Marketing with glossy brochures played a big role back in the day for sure. Interesting find Lou!
I am surprised to see the spring loaded hinges on the hood. My 63 Falcon Futura Convertible didn't have those. Mine had a rod to hold the hood up. I did notice the brackets for the rod storage were on the car when the hood was opened. I am curious if that was a mistake by the restoration shop, since they were Mustang experts, or did Ford make that an option in the second half of the year with the sprint and some other models built late in the year got these hinge. I had an Oxford Blue 63 convertible with a white top. The only differences on mine were the color, the wheel covers, and the aforementioned hood hinges. Right after high school graduation, my friends and I rebuilt my engine. That 170 was a great engine for a six cylinder.
I just watched this video for the second time. I have two more points I want to make. The gas cap is not an original Falcon cap. I believe it is a Mustang cap.The Falcon cap had a handle on it that when the cap was put on properly the handle was horizontal and maintained the trim line. The second point is that the armrests are backward. That means the armrest that was installed on the left door should have been installed on the right door and vice versa. So, those other points I made in my original comment I can only rate this car a 9, not perfect but nearly so.
Dennis has some amazing cars, he has been blessed by the gods of transportation. Wondering if this has hydronic windshield wipers? A buddy back in high school had a 63 Futura. It had hydronic wipers, not electric. If he had the wipers on it was really neat, step on the gas and the wipers quit working, didn’t matter where on the windshield , they’d quit and freeze. Soon as he let off the gas they would start back up. I remember him always getting a kick out of it. Cheers🍻🇨🇦🥂🇺🇸👍

The single door panel on that beauty has more design creativity than an entire car produced today!

Dennis is a fantastic curator for legendary classic cars. Thanks for finding and filming this one for us Lou!
Hi Jeff, This one was amazing, it's like stepping right back into the Dealer showroom, and taking the car for a "spin" :-) My pleasure sharing this step back into 1963 with you, and you're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile It’s definitely a time machine Lou!
I grew up in the 80s, and this meek economy car Falcon dressed-up as a fancy convertible,
reminds me some of the humble Chrysler K-Car-based Chrysler LeBaron convertible introduced in 1982.
This is a charming Falcon!
Hi Nathan, Happy to read you enjoy this "charming Falcon!" :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
I used to change my oil every 2500 miles, as well as many others I know back in those days. My wife has a 2017 Elantra, and I was so impressed because they called for 5000 miles a oil change, yet this car is calling every 6000 miles or 6 months. Learn something new every day....
Hi OLD BAY, I'm learning from comment from Viewers, and from the Care Takers ever day it seems. I find that to be a fun part to these stories, Lou
Hi Britspence381, Happy to read this brings back teenage love memories of the 1st hotrod :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
The 200 probably gave good performance in what was a light car. A lot of early Mustangs came with the 200 c.i. 6 cylinder engine.
That's really saying something to get a hundred points out of a hundred points at a Concours car show absolutely phenomenal thanks for sharing Lou

What fun to ride on a warm Georgia afternoon!
NICE !
I enjoyed collecting car brochures from the dealerships in the late 60's (as a pre-teen) through to the late 70's. While there were many great brochures, I don't recall one as fun as the '63 Falcons featuring the Peanuts Gang. Nice to see! Thanks Lou👍
Hi Mike, Happy to read you enjoyed collecting the car brochures :-) You're welcome, Lou
Dennis is a treasure........ love seeing cars from his collection.
My uncle had one of these Falcons back in the early 60's ( 4-door) so not quite as iconic as this one! Again, thanks for showcasing yet another piece of Ford's history!😉

Fantastic video of this 100 point Falcon! Thanks again Lou for bringing these cars to us. Many would not be able to see something like this otherwise. Hi David, You're right, this one is well....perfect! Lou
Hi, Lou! This old bird of prey is just flawless! Pretty dressy for a Falcon! Looks fabulous in that Rangoon Red, and the engine sound and performance are very impressive for a 170! In other words, it flies like a falcon! Another great fun ride with Lou and Dennis!
Hi iswc27, "It flies like a falcon!" NICE! Glad you're along for the ride, in this one, Lou
My grandpa had a 1963 sport with v 8 and my dad heart his leg so he couldn't drive the clutch on our car 1966 nova wagon so they switched cars and I was in the front seat with my dad's leg hanging over the hump and he floors it and scared the @$$/:##out of me! Cool car.

Hi Kenneth, Happy to read you enjoy the "different stuff" :-) Thank you for the kind words, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou

This was the best year for the Falcon. It had to be an extra challange to restore. So many interior and body parts are one year only.

I love the simplicity of 60’s cars . I do not like how unbelievably complicated they make cars now .
Hi Andrew, You're right, modern cars seem complicated, Lou
I went WOW when I saw the door panel to. A very nifty old Ford!!

Very enjoyable Lou, thanks to Dennis for your excellent car!
BTW the rooster croking in the background is cool!
Hi Floyd T, Happy to read you enjoy this Falcon & the Rooster too :-) Lou
Wow Lou! You've made my day! This has to be the best '63 Falcon Futura i've ever seen!! What a high quality restoration. I'd love to get one of these - import it to Australia & convert it to RHD. The Aussie RHD dash is identical. Tiger.
Hi Tiger, High praise :-) Cheers, Lou
Wow! Another gorgeous car! What a beautiful object of perfection! Thanks for a real entertaining video, Lou!
Hi JON, High praise for this car & video :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Hi Rusty, Fun taking you back to the Ford Dealership in 1963 and taking this one out for a "spin" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another great video Lou love watching your channel. Always loved the look of the Falcons my grandpa had a blue 62 and a red 65 both 2 door hardtop. My dad used to get to drive the red 65 to high school every once in a while.

Hi Lou, thank you for the another great video! Very nice Falcon, nicely done and has that sound of 1960s! :)
Hi Aelita, Happy to read you enjoy this video on this Falcon :-) The car right before the Mustang, Lou

Happy to read this one bring back memories of your Brothers car :-)

After my day got rid of the Falcon he bought a 69Camaro, it was also white, and it was a convertible...but he sold that before I was even born, I wished he would of kept it,😄
Goodday Lou,
Another gorgeous, beautiful Ford from Dennis.
Your number 1 Fan in Australia

Hi Daniel, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
My fave Falcon. Id like to have a 63 Falcon Sprint with v8. 63 good year for Ford. The Fairlane and Galaxy were for 63 two of my favs.
Hi David, Happy to read this is a favorite Falcon for you. Here is that Factory V8 Falcon you enjoy, Lou ua-cam.com/video/tx257ZgHavs/v-deo.html
Hi Ron, Thanks for viewing, sharing, and happy to take you right back into the Ford Dealer showroom in 1963 with this one :-) Lou

Wow!! I want, need this car! 💯👍🇺🇸😁
Hi Frank, Happy to receive a "Wow!!" from you on this car :-) Lou
Hi Daniel, Thank you for viewing, sharing, and glad to read you had a blue one :-) Lou
I would be extremely proud just to own the model.😁
Models are fun too :-)
Dennis has some amazing cars, he has been blessed by the gods of transportation.

@@loucostabile Thank you! I'm really excited about it. It's a 170 automatic car converted to V8 running gear. 1965 mustang front suspension 8.8 rear end. Gonna run a true ford 289 high performance engine. All ford parts. I even have NoS bucket seat covers and a top. Should turn out real nice.
