Far From Stock '63 Ford Falcon Futura
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- My friend Michael brought over his 1963 Ford Falcon that he daily drives in Los Angeles, CA. This vehicle was a father + son build that should inspire you to teach your kids something. The body is wrapped white and it has high contrast over fenders and a blacked out front end. This custom Falcon build checks off all the right boxes for most classic Ford fans.

Ford needs to bring this car back. The simplicity of the design is really what puts this car in a class of its own.
Wouldn’t that be awesome to see a retro version with some modern tech?
I love these backyard home built street rods they show with imagination, ingenuity and a tool set you could make any model into a one of a kind beauty.
Same for me!
It's called art😊
What a great car. Love the vintage road racer look/stance and it looks like so much fun to drive!
Impslap he went old school clean mean and raw. Very cool car
i had a 63sprint cov red white top in 75 dont have no more but same lady aint that bad to the bone i think 47years or so
It's great to have more Hot Rodders in the family. Car looks Bad Ass.
That 63 Falcon is One Sweet Hot Rod...............really Enjoyed for sure.
Allen Dodson I’m with you...simple tasteful cool old school build
@@AutotopiaLA I,am New to your channel but i really do love what you do and Thank You for the comment.......
Thanks for watching what we’re doing here 👊
What a great job! I like the fact that he daily drives it!! I own a 65 Ford Mustang fastback that was a daily driver for 50 years!! I can appreciate all of the work and time he invested in his Falcon! Wow!! Far from stock indeed!! Drive On!!!
In the mid 70s all our dads had these killer street cars, the fuel smell permeated the white meat in our heads, and stuck the awesomeness of these type of builds in our remedial nervous system. That’s why we thrive on the visceral driving experience. To us it’s real, we lived it with our dads. It was everyday life and we are the last generation of that kind of cool. Some people call it “toxic masculinity”, I call it Legendary Badassery.
Very cool glad he kept it FORD TOUGH!
All Ford here
The car looks just right! The stance, the flares, the nose, everything goes together. It's "mechanical" with a strong motor but not an over-the-top build.
@Rodrigo Vizcarra "Over the Top" to me is when someone customizes their car so much that it ceases to maintain the character of the original. Examples on a car like this would be digital gages, fuel injected coyote motor, ridiculous flares, etc. This car is pure old school. A great build.
@Rodrigo Vizcarra Since you asked - this is my car - ua-cam.com/video/MkHkxYXi4cY/v-deo.html
The sound of that falcon is just awesome.
Best, Baddest, Ford Falcon ever!
A stone chip is a story, good on you for driving it!
Daily! I love how much this car gets driven
I built close to the same car, mine is a 62 Falcon
306 , Offenhuser tunnel ram Holley duel quads
11.5 compression ratio, Aluminum Edelbrock 351heads 209 intake valves, Headman shorties, Big Comp cam and springs,
450hp. Daily driver.
You have a great Falcon, good to see other round body Falcon's and Falcon lovers.
If you ever wanna come over and shoot let me know...sounds like you’ve got a killer Falcon also 👊
@@AutotopiaLA that would be cool if I wasn't so far from you. I think your in California , im in Taxas. I would send you a picture or video but can't send pictures on this post.
There is probably a picture on my FB account if wanted to see it.
Thanks that would be fun to do.
Love the "Pit Bull" stance of it and 2nd ... it's a daily driver, yo !!! Must be liv'in right.
Michael said it right "To spend all this time and money doesn't make sense to have it sit".
Thanks for letting us all enjoy what you've done. Big fan !
I’m right with you here. This car, the story and the owner are cool af
Pop had the rite ideas for the wheel flares,it is the way I did them back in the day I welded everything on and this Falcon is my favorite model
Nothing but love for the Oddballs.
Me too. And this one is so damn cool
Big fan of this ride. Digging the variety and your effort... great job!
I'm with you on that. I've always wanted a road race falcon.
Jason O'Brien I am too...and thanks for watching!
Given that the Falcon gave its DNA for the Mustang, I immediately fall for these. I love the way he went with the old school Trans Am feel on this build and that he DRIVES it! Awesome little car that has to be an absolute hoot to drive. Thanks for sharing this one with us Shawn.
This is a neat little car, must be a riot to drive daily.
My first car was a Ford Falcon...but it didnt run like this one...what a beautiful beast! Congrats on your AWESOME ride.👍
He really built an incredibly cool car here and I love that he drives it all the time
I thought this was Aaron Kaufman's from Fast N' Loud. Nice setup.
Transfiguration my friend Michael built this with his dad and it’s a cool old school Falcon
It's a great set up. Reminds me of his car, and a NASCAR- styled 64 with purple wheels that ended up in Japan.
Love the car and concept has me looking at Falcons a totally different way
Cedric Demps you and me both
Amazing! The stance is legit the sound is legit the entire build is legit!
BZBEAST12 yes yes and yes! This thing is awesome!
Excellent show. Love to see the home builds and weekend raced cars. Not everyone have $250,000.00 + to spend on a build. Best car show on. About cars not full of Reality TV fluff. Thank you
If you already own the falcon,, it shouldn't cost that much to build it.,, just saying?!😊
What a cool car! Nice low buck build too, tastefully done and not over the top. Nice to see younger guys building stuff like this.
Agreed...the hobby is alive and well with the next generation imo
Shawn really got a kick out of the car still having the stock am radio. Must of brought back some memorys lol. Never see anyone do anything with Falcons much these days. Gotta love a dad and son project. I really enjoyed this one. Love the content and as always please keep these videos coming.
thomas green the am radio cracked me up! Such a cool car, story and I’m with you on the father/son part 👊
Awesome!
Great idea on the R Model gauge cluster too!
The way this car is just F’in perfect is.. perfect! 👌
Oh my god I love that Falcon
I don't know how you find these unique and interesting cars but please keep it up. Every show is interesting and different then the one before it
Dave Woodmancy thanks! We’re always on the lookout for stuff that hits our passion button and this one really got me
Whoa! I must’ve been living under a rock for 40 years, never seen a modified Falcon. The body lines with that stance is nice looking. However, his dad’s car with the molded in flares looked super!
This one is going to get molded flares as well...it’s still a project for Michael
The variety you bring never ceases to amaze me. Keep it up guys!
J.F Cote glad you appreciate the variety and lots more to come for sure
Falcon was never my taste, but I love the way he's got it set up. Bet it rips. The side pipes sound so nasty!
Eshu never mine either but this one has me hooked!
I love these little cars. Had a friend that ran the first Gator Nationals in one of these.
These are so cool when done right like this one
This Ford caught my attention.....what a bitchin ride man!
Stan Mendoza yeah, it did the same to me the first time I saw it
Damn that’s an awesome Falcon! That would fun to rip thru some twisties
ConemantheBarbarian for sure. Would love to go with him to the track
So love this model Falcon (XL, XK in Australia) Coupe was rare, but just so beautiful. This one..pure class. Thanks for posting.
I'm not really a Ford man but there is something about this car , the sound, the look. I've watched this upload maybe 10 times and sent it on to mulitple people, love it.😉👍
Straight line driving. .. liked to have seen it cornering. Great build guys.
I’ve watched a couple of your shows now, the OVC GT350 and now the Falcon. I just subscribed and guess what? I’ve never subscribed with anybody before. I have met both of these guys and seen both of those cars in person. They are awesome! I actually have a 1965 GT350 Tribute that is in restoration right now. Im hoping to have the car all back together and on the road by the end of April. I’ve had my tribute since 2006 as my daily driver. Even after this build, like Michael with his Falcon, my car will be my daily and track car. Before this build, I have had my hands all over it over the years. And yes, I actually hand built my previous engine in the car. This time around I sourced it out, but I will be receiving my car as a roller and I will install all the drivetrain in my driveway. I cannot wait to drive her again!
Welcome! Our channel is mostly about modified restomod kinds of vehicles. Hope you binge watch until you get motivated to fab some fenders on something 😎👊🏻
Loved your dad's builds back in the day. You had a great life going to races growing up. The car is wonderful. Needs more power
This Falcon is awesome! I havnt seen a fixed up Falcon in a long time! Most guys use gthe more square bodied Falcons. Last time I saw one of those was probably in the early 80s. Beautiful car! Not too many left.
Rare to see a Falcon built...refreshing to see one of these done with such taste and style
This car is built for the track and auto crossing!!!! And a daily driver. That is what hot rodding is all about. I LOVE IT AS WELL!!!! Great video and thanks for sharing!!!
I just got a my 65 falcon, I’m 15 going on 16 and I got so many plans for it, ima daily my car too.
Love Falcons , I had. 63 1/2 Sprint ( for 33 years ) , like you I reflared the rear wheel wells , but did it to match the front flair i.e. The stock flair had a square edge , so I took ( iirc ) some 3/4 inch sq. Tubing and bent it then filled in the rest with metal ( I left on the side spears so I did not go as high as you did ) I wanted the factory look as much as possible . One thing that I really wanted to do was move the rear end aft about 4 inches , big tires would hit the body on the forward side of the tires . At the time I was doing this in the dirt and this was my only transportation .
The engine it came with was a 260 with a 2 speed auto ( what moron decided on a 2 speed tranny , seems i was always waiting for it to shift ) knew a guy who wrapped his 67 2+2 ,WITH A BEEFY 289 and a 4 speed top loader and a 8.8 ( iirc ) so I cramped this in there , sorry to say all this happened in about 5 days in the dirt .
Oh , one last detail you could. Hold the doors open about a foot , let go of the handle and they closed with a perfect mesh , when ever some got in , i always said in a loud voice " DO NOT SLAM THE DOOR " and if they did , they would be called out for it . Hey sorry for the ramble well no not really , loved my SPRINT . Sniffle , sniffle
Boy I love it! First car I ever totaled was a 63 Falcon. I was 5....
This is gorgeous 😍 reminds me a little of a late 60s Nissan GTR with the fender flares, etc. Awesome 👌
The great thing about the Falcon is that all the go-fast bits sold for early Mustangs will fit on a Falcon. Makes the car easy to build for people who just don't want something that looks different.
Btw those falcons are great and theres MILLIONS in mint condition in Argentina, some people uses them for drag racing, some for daily use, but they're stock, there's some of them ruined because of rust, but most of them are stock and don't need engine fixing or body fixing, greetings from Punta Alta, Buenos aires, Argentina
Great looking car. Sounds awesome. Very stylish. If Shelby built a Falcon....
Very Shelbyesque
My fav part of my Mom's 63 Falcon was the matchbook door key hole cover on the trunk.
Very nice ride and it great that he and his Dad both had Falcon Love ride height and the flares are really cool and its a driver and that he's like riding with his Dads memory that's really cool
Glad you can appreciate the beauty of the car, the build and the back story 👊
Far cry from Mom's Falcon. Great clean looking car saved.
Was wracking my brain and trying to find that song. Remembered that scene from Fringe where Walter was dancing to this song and found it. Al Greene, Love and Happiness. Great song to go with a great car.
Love Al Green!!
In Argentina, the Ford Falcon is an icon pretty much like Mustang here innUS. Great car!
That MACHINE sounds SOOO....COOL!! Nice job MIKE!
He built such a cool car! Everything about this is right imo
That thing is absolutely awesome. Love the history and the realness
I love that car and he did a great job to say the least. You are right the look is just "Bad Ass".
Totally agree!
Such a cool car Shawn! Just found this old segment. Hats off to Michael for doing such a neat garage built effort of a car thats really not that common & his Dad had one? F’ing amazing
Love to see a nice possible in black , stealth kinda look C10 pick up slammed on here 👌🏼
Guys,,,my first car at 16 ,me and my dad bought in 68, a 631/2 futura.. still love it , did trade it in for a70 boss 302..but will always love my falcon..
Michael your car is awesome!! Autotopia keep bringing this great content! These different styles of rides suck you in! Can't wait till the next!
Danny Smith thanks and I agree...Michael and his Falcon are just cool 😎
I had several of them years ago 61, 62, and 63 and 1/2 bullet nose Sprint. I love these cars. the early mustang parts would fit .
So much to love here, but that GT350 front valance grabbed me right off the bat. It finishes out the front end perfectly!
Love it. A friend of mine in high school had one of these with a 260 V-8 and 4spd from the factory. It was only 8 years old then. This one I think is a bit more peppy.
Great video and interview of the 63 Falcon sprint. Bought one new as a Falcon conv. with a 3 sp column shift 260 V 8 2 bbl rangoon red black top and black interior. Eat your heart out it only cost $ 2757.50 new. The sprint model came out mid 63 as an option. I am 80 years young and looking for on as we speak. Looking for a 63 Sprint this time. Would probably run a stroker 351 windsor, 6 speed with a lot of updates Dennis Belk
Absolutely love this car!! 👍👍
This Falcon is hella sick!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeeeess I need to see more Falcons Please!! I have a 65FuturaWagon302. Excellent Video keep it up!
OGG-Llama this thing is just a badass and that he daily drives it makes it even cooler to me
Bad ass car that’s the only ford I would consider owning
Outstanding
Yeah, I love this car and his story
Wow!! What a Beautiful Falcon.
Agreed...style and taste are on point
Love your car a lot! Great job! I been looking for a 63 Sprint for a long time! After a Superformance Cobra, a 64 Thunderbolt Tribute car and a 66 Fairlane Restomod drag car, I finally found a very nice 63 Sprint with great bones! It on its way to my home to be transformed into a vintage racer. I may use the same bumper, love it!
Awesome! Hope we get to see it when it’s done
AutotopiaLA you can count on. I’m planing to show it in stages.
Nice Falcon, the same direction I'm headed with my MGB (already custom frame and suspension (tubular A-arms front, triangulated 4-link rear, adjustable QA1s), SBC (500hp), 4-speed (T-10), 4 wheel discs, 8.8 Ford. Yeah I like the direction this Falcons going.
Charles Royer sounds like you have a killer there
These car ran well on the dirt tracks of the south. In the mid 60s I was a kid.
I believe it
Absolutely love this built. I have dreams for something similar, but with a weird power plant.
Great looking Falcon. Very pleased it had a 5 Speed Tremec rather than a 3 Speed Slush Box that seems to be the norm in a lot of potentially Cool Old American Custom Cars. This is a Real Muscle Car, that would actually take some Muscle to Drive. The '63 is such a good shape and I've only ever seen one 2 Door Falcon in Australia with the rear guards cut out to match the front to fit some decent rubber in the late '70's, and it looked Great. I thinks some nice 4 Point Harnesses would be far more suitable than the Killer Lap Belts though. One of the Best Cars I've seen for a long time, probably because it's unique, and I love the old 2 Door Falcons......Great Build, and Thanks for posting.
Nice car. I like the wing window air conditioning system. I used to have lots of cars with the same system.
It works and the car is a completely cool old school build
'some things just click' = some of them are girls or boats or bikes, sometimes they are cars, this car is great
Agreed all the way!
I just fell in love. My god that is EXACTLY what im going for with my '61. I still have a ways to go, im probably 65% there. Except i built a forged rod and piston L33 with a 82mm borg Warner turbo and a gforce 4 speed dog box behind it.
My favorite of everyone of these videos!!!!
Hahaha love the comment about the rear-view. The one on my Mustang has popped off several times as well.
so sick
So awesome! The in-car audio is too low though. I can't hear what you guys are saying!
The Left Nut I know...frustrating that we missed on the in car
I would like to do a similar model to my 61 Comet , but with a built 200 six , and the tremec.
Off the charts! This falcon has a mighty set of cojones!
Beautiful build . !👍👍😎
Sure is
Love this falcon. Would like to know more
Robert Dees it’s such a great car...I love the choices he made on the build
@@AutotopiaLA I gave my boy my 1962 falcon. I set it up with 302 and c4 tranny. He only got to drive it one time. After that his mother sold it. Dirt cheep . less that 1,000.. I have been looking for the car. They were living in Beatty Oregon at the time of selling of the car. My name was forged on title.
Looks badass with flat wheels!👍
Adrian Stanciu every styling choice on this build is right imo
Congrats on 50k Shawn and the crew.
James Nichols thank you 👊
Thanks for keeping those back seats.
I love his build to this car
I agree with you. A resurrected one of a kind machine for sure.
Cañón!!!...Impresionante Misil!!!
Great sound! Great stance!......And, it doesn't have a small block Chevy in!
No it has a ford 302 small block and 5 speed transmission
@@bobbertthebuilder4856 I know.....that's just the point. I'm a Ford guy and it burns my ass to see an LS motor in everything from a VW to a Saab. My hat's off to this guy for keepin' it pure. You missed my point.
@@tomnekuda3818 im a true hard core ford guy too i have a 78 ford bronco with a 1971 torino 351 Cleveland and 4 speed manual with 37 inch tsl boggers and yukon. Gear and axles
@@bobbertthebuilder4856 I had a jacked-up '79 Bronco with 400 M.....really a great rig until the rust maggots quit holding hands....on a quiet night you can hear a Ford (Chevy, whatever....) rust. Bought an '86 new with 302, stick, etc. Still so mint that every time I gas it up I get anywhere from 3-6 tire-kickers wanting to know what I want for it. Tell 'em and they get s**t in their neck and piss and moan. You know how it goes. Reprogrammed FI, ignition curve, free-flowing exhaust, etc.....still smells new inside. Not as good a rig as the 79, tho.....it was a Beast!
@@tomnekuda3818 well i have done most of the work and my dad has helped me he bought it before i was born and when i was my dad declared it mine im 14 now and ive worked on it my whole life
Grrreat videos... the best cars out there! and this falcon stole my heart! Nice Build!
I would guess 2800lbs maybe less. love it! SFC! Nothing better than an 8.2 deck height Windsor!
I’m guessing around the same on weight
Very cool you did video on this car... true hot rod
Thank you. I love this car and it’s story and that Michael drives it all the time
One of the coolest cars!
No question! Killer build and story behind the build
not really sure about the flairs, but thanks for keeping the stock style suspension. To many people give up on it and go to a MII style suspension which isn't an upgrade
Great job on this build! I remember and actually have a photo of this car some years back when it had a for sale sign in it parked across the street from Tinkers in Summerland Ca. And yes it was white with that blue stripe down the side. Bravo!
Or was it blue with a white patch down the side? Regardless it is pretty bad ass!
@@wahdadahi in Argentina (country) are too many of them.
Search it (You should cry)
Great car great episode. I really enjoy your channel man. The videos are almost the perfect length. They feel a little short at times. Some further details would be cool. I really like that Michael and his dad have built that car. I envy the guys that have fathers that taught them about cars. My old man k re how to put gas in and drive. lol He was shocked when he found out that I could change oil. lol I was like "Pop an oil change is basic stuff. Its like changing a tire. Everyone should at least know how to change their own oil." He would never let me change the oil in any of his cars tho. lol He was a funny old guy.....with absolutely NO car knowledge. lol Great video tho dude.
Story Teller thanks and thanks for the story. I’m with you in that I love the father/son approach with guys and cars like this
