    Hi Pam. If you want your strips of bedsheet to be all scrunched up like sari ribbon, you can wet them slightly, hold one end of the strips and start twisting them around each other, fold it in half, twist again... Repeat until you can't double them up anymore... then just put the twisted-up strips in the sun until dry then un-twist and just keep in a bundle (like you do the sari ribbon) until you need them. Don't let it get wet again. 😃 Hope it helps. TFS ❤

    Beet colouring is great. I usually use beet juice which is sold in 1/2 litre packs for 1.50 EUR, and then I freeze the juice into cubes. This way I can use as many cubes as I need at a time and the remaining juice is not going bad.
    There are many other natural colourings which cost (almost) nothing. Boiled onion peels give you a nice pinkish brown. Many tree leaves or barks make excellent dyes when you boil them (from green, over red/brown to even purple). It is a lot of fun to experiment with these things and a great thing to do with children.

    I actually am in the process of dying a pair of my daughter's socks for fun. I came across your video while Googling information on it. I had beet salad for breakfast & started remembering hearing about using beet juice for dye. So asked my daughter if we can try with a pair of her socks. She thought that sound fun & gave me a pair to do it with lol. Also yes I used beet juice from the can too. So glad I came across your channel & it has been a delight watching your video. Your pooch is adorable. ❤
    Also, now I know to use water to make different shades! How cool! 😍

    I love the full strength color best. This is a great idea!! I've not had beets for so long. The dog could be pink too!!! I saw a lady in England that dyed baby chicks. I craved beets and ate a can every day when I was pregnant. I have chopped clothes up and bought clothes at Goodwill to make doll clothes. We had designer doll clothes!!! Labels included!! Love your ideas. Sweaters make great pillow covers.

    Ooooh Pam we Australians love our beets. We call them beetroot here. Even at McDonalds or as we call it Maccas, there will be beetroot on our burgers. Nom nom nom
    Summer time is beetroot slices in salads, in sandwiches at bistros in the salad bar, on burgers, you name it. So it’s always time to dye paper, cloth & ribbon etc lol

    You made my morning!! Up early and trying not to wake the fam with my early LAUGHING!!! They already think I'm weird. Oh, Playtex rubber gloves!! What a memory. I still keep a pair under my sink!! Its cuz I'm "old"!! I still do things my mother did. You turned me on to how great bed sheets are when I first saw your channel. Now I love them too. They really are about best fabric for junk journal making. Canned beets?! Great idea. I think you are a genius!!! Not kidding! Who knew? I used a bright pink spray to do some fabric dyeing last year and accidentally grabbed and added coffee water. It made a dusty rose color. Now I do it on purpose with any dyes. Really gives that vintage, muted color. GREAT VIDEO!
    Thx for the video.

    I completely dislike beets, but I can try to give the beets to a neighbor, and if no takers, I don't mind very much wasting tbe beets. Love that you can get so many shades.
    Also I hear that turmeric is a good source of yellow dyes. Don't know how long it lasts though. But it's worth a try.

    I dyed paper and fabrics with mahonia berry juice last year (cooked them in water for a while and then put it all through a strainer). Very very beautiful red pink purple color. (Depends on the concentration or the liquid the material you dye). As far as I know they aren’t poisonous for humans or animals but check it before you use them. I think they grow in the US too. I highly recommend trying. There is at least one video here on youtube about dying with mahonia, I think it is about dying wool.

    Fun! Fun! Fun! I love that there is no cooking involved. I'm just not a fan of pink...I'm wondering 🤔 if I could do the same thing with blueberry juice?

    Why do you use the snips rather than scissors ?? What is the advantage of them?
    Love your videos as I have learned a lot.
    Next week I am going to buy a bunch of goodies from your shop. I love that you will print them out as I can’t.

      Absolutely! A very nice natural blue dye can be made from red (or purple cabbage). But it does have a cabbage scent that hangs around for a bit. Air dry well :) it's a beautiful blue!!

    I have been wanting to do this but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Does Blueberry juice from the muffin mix work also or does (if it has) sugar affect it? Thank you for another great video!!!

    • @seameology
      @seameology 8 місяців тому

      Blueberry juice works. But it faded where I applied Elmer's glue to it. Beet dyed does not. I also did paper .
      I avoid anything with sugar added. I'm worried about pests.

    • @seameology
      @seameology 8 місяців тому

      But no, the sugar doesn't affect the dye.
