  • In this week´s motorhome life video we explore the picturesque town of Annecy, known as the "French Venice." We take a wander through medieval streets, admire the clear waters of the lake, and get lost in the charm of the town. But we couldn't end without Alison enjoying a treat by the lake and reflecting on their experience.

It's a beautiful place, with a free park-up (no services) just a s short walk away. You should stop off if you're passing.
      Thanks for watching.
Much love to you both and of course Señor Watson. 😻

Couldn't stop laughing. When Darren said "I shouldn't probably say this, but this is...(and paused).Sarah said "a right shit hole" and cue Darren!! 😅😅😅 overall though, a very interesting and beatiful town with all the waterways x x

😂🤣😂🤣 Guys that's awesome. It was a complete mess, but it was so authentic and exactly how I (Alison) expect an old medieval alleyway to be (apart from the wheelie bins...🤷🏼‍♀️). Have you guys ever been to Mary King's Close in Edinburgh..?!? Looking on Google maps, it looks like they have commercialised the visit since I went 20-ish years ago.
      We loved Annecy.
Intrigued by what would be underneath the plug holes though....🤔💜🤟

What a beautiful place, I would love to visit there. I can say from experience that Venice in the summer is very smelly although its not as bad during the winter months.

We loved Annecy. We're sure we'll get to visit Venice at some point, but it's not high on our list. 💜🤟

Thanks guys for Annecy tour, we're planning to do a day trip in October.
Darren and Alison, what's yours feel about France as a country and how it compares to Spain:
Food, places to see, things to do, all this "WOW" things in the life when planning to live in other country.

    • @findingxanadulife
      @findingxanadulife  4 місяці тому

      Hi Andry,
You definitely won't regret your day trip and being in October, hopefully it won't be too crowded, so you can fully enjoy it.
Both countries, France and Spain have lots of beautiful small villages, jaws dropping scenery, castles/chateaux, historic places as well most countries we are sure. The main difference we noticed was the rain. We experienced a lot of rain in France from day 2 of our visit, in both directions, but as a result, the terrain was much more lush and green. The farming areas of France remind us greatly of the UK, with frequent tractors and mud in the roads. Mud on the roads is a rarity in Spain. The main difference is the cost of visiting tourist interest places. France is much more expensive than Spain. Places that would be free or €5-€6 in Spain, were €10-€15 or more.
The French restaurants seem to have more similar opening hours to the UK. Also supermarkets etc seem to mostly have Sunday opening in France, like the UK, including Lidl. Most supermarkets and shops are closed on a Sunday in Spain, including Lidl, unless you are in a very touristy area during the summer.
Hope you have a great trip.
Much love Alison and Darren 💜🤟

Wow, well Annecy is another wonderful place we'd love to visit. It looks like a real melting pot of styles which I expect is partly from being so close to Italy and Switzerland. I think we would have done the same as you and wandered down every little alleyway we could find!
That lake was breathtaking. Think I would've been tempted with a swim even at this time of year looking at that water 😍 Though might change my mind after dipping a toe in..!
I did love the touch of putting blankets on restaurant chairs outside.
The ice cream looked wonderfully indulgent 😋
Thanks for showing us a beautiful place guys ❤🤟

Annecy had everything that we look for in a place to visit, albeit with more people than we would usually like. We think they do boost troops on the lake too, there was a huge boat waiting to load passengers.
I (Alison) said the same about the water surrounding the Château de Chillon in the Mont Blanc video too. It looked so clean and clear and inviting. I did put my hand in though and decided that was enough. 🥶🤣😂
We first noticed the blankets on the chairs in Denia castle, on our first visit, before we moved. It's a lovely thought for winter, when the air is so crisp and fresh.
It's never too cold for sorbet or ice-cream. It was good too. 😍💜🤟

@@findingxanadulifeyes probably dipping a hand in would change my mind. I've rarely done it - that time in the "hot" springs in La Fontcalda in Spain (the river bit) I didn't last very long 😂 Invigorating though!
Definitely never ever too cold for ice cream - plus at least it doesn't melt so fast in winter 😁

We're at a beautiful riverside park up this morning and last night we both said the same about possibly going for a dip today before we leave. However, we are still in the Pyrenees (Spanish side) and the water will be coming straight off the mountains. 🥶
Ice cream or on my case sorbet, is the answer to every weather. 😍💜🤟

Great video! What a stunning place. So interesting. It looks like you really enjoyed your time there. Do you think this town was affordable? It is not far from Geneva which is incredibly expensive, so I was curious of your opinion.

    • @findingxanadulife
      @findingxanadulife  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Joanne,
Considering how popular Annecy seems to be, we didn't find it dreadfully expensive. We had a slice of Quiche for lunch, which was about €4 which was around the same as we'd been paying, but we also had a hot chocolate each, which was just under €6 with no trimmings which was more expensive than the €5 HC we had at the top of the Berneuse cable car. The sorbet was well priced. 😜 Although compared to home, it was all much more expensive. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Much love Alison and Darren 💜🤟

We've had an interesting few days with unexpected snow, but the humans and the dogs really enjoyed it. The cats were totally non-plussed. 😸🤷🏼‍♀️
Hope all is well with you too.
