to be fair about the skull thing, here it has a little more of an excuse. Mr. X did say that he was the one controlling Wily from the beginning, so at face value you could take away that the skull motif was inherited FROM Mr. X. it was still a bold faced lie, but at least skulls don't necessarily point him out here.
For years now, I always thought the Energy Balancer could only be reached by using the Power Armor from the very bottom of the ladder next to that cracked block (it can be done, as there is a VERY small window of room to hang from and swing the punch from there). I know I found out about it after I beat the game, as that's when I saw the tip about it. I never knew the armor could reach from across the pit... I'm not sure which method is less dangerous, but I do admit I appreciate and thank you for my learning this method. :)
IIRC, about the time MM's 5-6 were released, Capcom of Japan was looking to use MegaMan as "edutainment" for World History. If you've ever seen the 3-episode MM animated series (the Japanese one that is actually in tune with the official artworks), it's kind of obvious; and them using the MM5 robot masters puts the era around the same time as MM6's development. This might also explain not only the cultural stereotyping in the stages, but the relative easiness of the game compared to the rest.
I've noticed in MM6, if you beat the bosses and then revisit their stages, they change color palettes (like in that part with the sunset, instead of a purple sky with and orange sun, afterwards you get an orange sky with a yellow sun).
My theory about the whole Plant vs. Tomahawk thing is that Tomahawk Man runs on Solar Energy, so too do the plants. Thus, since it is a sunny stage, the Plant Barrier will gain power.
Man I just love the parallax scrolling in this stage. The canyons at the beginning and the sunset at that other part. This might've been one the first games (for me anyway) to actually use this type of scrolling
I wonder how Beat got broken up into four parts and then given to the not so named man Dr. Wily. Maybe Beat is the reason Megaman is in the tournament.
I have a theory! Dr... I mean Mr. X, who TOTALLY isn't an overused joke, decided to replicate the stolen robots, but had to use Beat's parts for it and only had time to make 4. Therefore, the one you beat was the fake!
I have read a few strips from it, but not too many actually. It's been quite a long time since I have, mainly I just remember Mega Man refusing to use Top Spin.
You're totally right about the music. The music in this game is a lot better than the music in MM5, which was one of two things that annoyed me about MM5 - the other being that all the robot master weapons were such weak sauce compared to the Mega Buster in that one.
It's actually been said to be a fake in official materials, the same for the other three where this happens. Beating the "real" version of the boss gives you not only their weapon, but also one of the four Beat parts. Beating the "fake" version only gives you the weapon.
Ara Ara Only Well...I did come up with Samurai Man, and Petal Woman, and Petal Woman’s Petal Storm could be Samurai Man’s weakness because he could be allergic to flowers as well.
Wow... out of all the times that I've played the mega man games I had no idea Proto Man made an apperance in MM6 and gave you the Energy Balancer. Good to know.
You're welcome. Personally, I had an easier time fighting Tomahawk Man dead-center, because his attacks - either,or - have a certain pacing about them; and that's usually at their easiest-to-dodge point. (Silver Tomahawk is at the low point of it's arc, the feathers are still not spread much.) Also, he jumps really high across mid-screen, usually too high for even a full-height jump to connect with. However, due to the weapons' patterns, he's kind of hard to avoid if you keep your distance.
Man, Tomahawk man was the first boss i ever met in MM6. He found him very hard, in fact the hardest in the game. You've come far now. Soon done with the 8-bit games. How are you going to do then? Will you continue to play the classic series from 7 to Mega Man and Bass?
The length of time it takes to film one of these videos... it just depends on the difficulty of the stage really. Like Top Man took me one day, whereas Quick Man took me two weeks. As for getting my voice in, I record both my voice and the game at the same time. It's a running commentary recorded as I play, using my headset mic to record both my voice and the game audio.
0:18 Cactus Town USA The fact that the old west stereotyping of the US still exists to a degree is rather funny. XD This one is definitely far more out there than the Canadian stereotypes in Blizzard Man's stage, that is for sure.
I always thought the TomahawkMan/YamatoMan relationship was a reference to World War II. The U.S. used the Navajo language to communicate between units in the Pacific, which the Japanese found completely unintelligible. Thus, it was one of the main instruments of their undoing.
I think the difficulty description applies to a lot number six. Easy stages, a deep lineup of tricky bosses that are a little tougher than average, and no brutally difficult levels. A couple of the fortress stages will raise the standard, but difficulty wise they should be of a similar structure.
Again, another robot master falls.....this time, my favotire of the Megaman 6: Tomahawkman......so.....the dragon is not fearing the knigth, but the centaur?...oh god...CLASH OF MYTOLOGIC CREATURES! also....you din't forget the theory as i see...
and we also have ran cossack, a fan character.......nah, don't take the comic too seriusly...like you've said its just a comic.........have you readed it roahm?
Hm... I could have sworn it was that he thought the Top Spin was stupid and didn't want to use it, but Shadow Man wouldn't even fight him when he found out he had it or something.
Tomahawk's weakness could be kind of mundane. As he is one of the four Robot Masters that directly references a nationality of people, it could also be as ordinary as some people are allergic to pollen.
You unbeknowingly answered the question of TomahawkMan's weakness before. ;) TomahawkMan likes to corner you. The Plant Barrier, being a shield, is mean for close-quarter batling. Hence TomahawkMan's fighting style becomes his undoing. What I find interesting is that, though MegaMan originated in Japan - created by a Japanese man (Inafune) - the robot master representing Japan (YamatoMan) is weak to TomahawkMan's weapon. The Japanese have that much respect for the US (no, I'm not racist)? XDXDXD
the thing was: shadowman and megaman figthed but i think shadowman broken the Power Device of megaman, ending in top spin, when shadowman saw it he screamed "YOU KNOW THE ANCIENT ART OF TOP SPIN?!" and runs away...
Well, her taking double damage from the buster, I did actually hear a decent explanation for that. She's the lightest of the Robot Masters since she has to be able to swim, so perhaps she has lighter armor than the others.
Mega Man 6 was my first game and I realize Mr X was Dr Wily in a disguise. Mostly because I had forgotten who Dr Wily was. And in all honestly I think I had a better gaming experience because of it.
I always just hit the cracked block that leads to Proto Man from the ladder. I figured you would have just took the "fake" Path in the actual run and showed the "true" path in the outtakes. -Old School Video Game King-
Tomahawk man's weakness is the plant barrier probably since in his stage had no flowers or grass or water witch is good since I hate the water physics in mega man
Tomahawk's man weakness is the plant attack because both boss masters were created in the Nintendo Power contest - they are both fan made masters, thus the coders made it so that whichever two boss masters were to be created, thus, they would cancel each other out. Maybe this is just a theory, but that's probably the reason.
You've got that wrong. The two Robot Masters taking the source from Nintendo Power were actually Knight Man and Wind Man, not Tomahawk Man and Plant Man.
Wait- if you had a Met Dispensor for your room, wouldn't it dispense Methats that would drop down, approach you with a cute waddle, then FIRE THREE SHOTS OF SUPER HEATED PLASMA AT YOUR FACE all day? I mean- your scales will get singed!
This is a list of what robots did after being ass kicked tomahawk man: somewhere, in the montana mountains blizzard man: skying in siberia centaur man: Nº1 place of best humanhorsebot, ...mhmm.. flame man: trolling blizzard man knight man: teaching history plant man: trolling people in amazonas wind man: working as a ventilator in public restaurants yamato man: martial arts master
In the battle network series, Tomahawkman.exe is a fighting type Netnavi. Though he's better looking (to me) then this Tomahawk, I don't think the EXE is as hard as the NES version
That's not the broken part X) The broken part is the fact that, if you keep jumping while riding it, you can practically extend its energy forever, because energy only depletes so long as you're physically standing on it X)
I'm just saying there's nothing to feel bad about, Mega Man takes practice, the only reason I know the stages so well is how long I've been playing the series.
There are 2 things I love about this stage:
1. The epic music.
2. The sunset background. Considering the NES's limitaions...that was pretty epic. : )
to be fair about the skull thing, here it has a little more of an excuse. Mr. X did say that he was the one controlling Wily from the beginning, so at face value you could take away that the skull motif was inherited FROM Mr. X. it was still a bold faced lie, but at least skulls don't necessarily point him out here.
tomahawk man, the robot master who can destroy his weakness in a single hit.
Tomahawk Man is one of those robots that couldn't be made today.
...

True, especially given the broken-ness of the Rush Jet for getting around, the addition of the slide, there was a lot going for you in that one.
IIRC, about the time MM's 5-6 were released, Capcom of Japan was looking to use MegaMan as "edutainment" for World History. I do indeed plan to do 7 and MM&B. I would love to also do 8 and 9, but alas, I don't have the means to record from consoles.
My theory about the whole Plant vs. Tomahawk thing is that Tomahawk Man runs on Solar Energy, so too do the plants. Thus, since it is a sunny stage, the Plant Barrier will gain power.

Hmm, that's an interesting bit of trivia, thanks for supplying it ;)
I wonder how Beat got broken up into four parts and then given to the not so named man Dr. Wily. Maybe Beat is the reason Megaman is in the tournament.
Dude, I love your information and (and should we call it) tips. :) You rock!
I have a theory! Dr... I mean Mr. X, who TOTALLY isn't an overused joke, decided to replicate the stolen robots, but had to use Beat's parts for it and only had time to make 4. Therefore, the one you beat was the fake!
Oh man I've beaten this game a bunch of times but I had no idea there was an Energy Equalizer in this! Thanks for the tip!
Regarding the Hotchkiss thing: in Japan, staplers are named after the guy who invented them. They did a similar thing with X-Rays.
I love the Sengoku era of Japan, so he fits right in with that.
I disagree. 5's was better. It was more fun, and out to have a good time. Here it was less inspired. Not terrible, though.
Robot master wise I can agree but the fortress themes are far better in 5
Indeed, he rather does. Except his headdress actually serves a purpose, unlike Terra's fabulous hair.
Flashman, Brigthman and Timeman mention?
It's actually been said to be a fake in official materials, the same for the other three where this happens. Beating the "real" version of the boss gives you not only their weapon, but also one of the four Beat parts. Beating the "fake" version only gives you the weapon.
Tomahawk man has allergies. thus his weakness.
Ara Ara Only Well...I did come up with Samurai Man, and Petal Woman, and Petal Woman’s Petal Storm could be Samurai Man’s weakness because he could be allergic to flowers as well.

isnt it obvious? When you put up your leafy barrier Tomahawk man dare not disrupt the balance of nature flowing around you! =P
Man, Tomahawk man was the first boss i ever met in MM6. He found him very hard, in fact the hardest in the game.
You've come far now. Soon done with the 8-bit games. How are you going to do then? Will you continue to play the classic series from 7 to Mega Man and Bass?
Hmm, that could potentially make sense.
Time freezers just always make me nervous X)

@Skippistan Uh, what? Why is that messed up?
Yes, there is a gun called the Colt Python, but Colt was the first gun factory to make revolvers. I know, I go to school in the old Colt factory.
Those 4-space jumps... They do require perfection, so it's fitting.
Yes, I will be doing MM9. I needed a method to record off of consoles, and I have that now, so it will hopefully be coming soon.
Doesn't TomahawkMan look like Terra in a way?
I like them all. They all are among my favorites, therefore, I cannot rank them.
I always thought the TomahawkMan/YamatoMan relationship was a reference to World War II. The U.S. used the Navajo language to communicate between units in the Pacific, which the Japanese found completely unintelligible. Thus, it was one of the main instruments of their undoing.
Ahhhh, thank you, that would explain why I thought I remembered the sky being a different color at the start of Knight Man's stage.
Heh, I don't know terribly much myself. I just remember bits of historical trivia here and there. Things I find interesting.
Tomahawk Man, Tomahawk Man, doin' the things that a tomahawk can...
I think the difficulty description applies to a lot number six. Easy stages, a deep lineup of tricky bosses that are a little tougher than average, and no brutally difficult levels. A couple of the fortress stages will raise the standard, but difficulty wise they should be of a similar structure.

Would not fly today.
ME TOO. :D
I seriously need Capcom to make a little fake dispenser that comes with 3 loose little plastic mets.
1-It was the Colt Peacemaker that hit the west with massive numbers
2-IMO, Yamato Man seems like a Samurai Warrior.
You unbeknowingly answered the question of TomahawkMan's weakness before. ;)
TomahawkMan likes to corner you. The Plant Barrier, being a shield, is mean for close-quarter batling. Hence TomahawkMan's fighting style becomes his undoing.

@A B XDXDXD
Megaman 6, probably the easiest in the series, but i love it for it's level design and soundtrack (the soundtrack especially, it's so good)
the thing was: shadowman and megaman figthed but i think shadowman broken the Power Device of megaman, ending in top spin, when shadowman saw it he screamed
"YOU KNOW THE ANCIENT ART OF TOP SPIN?!"
and runs away...
........That is such a simple explanation, and yet it works XD

Mega Man 6 was my first game and I realize Mr X was Dr Wily in a disguise. Mostly because I had forgotten who Dr Wily was.
And in all honestly I think I had a better gaming experience because of it.
I was totally thinking the same thing! Good thing you've already thought of that. ;-)
Thankfully, at least Centaur Man isn't as cheap as Bright Man.
Haha, quite true, that X)
Hodgekisser? Something like that?
"He took my stapler..."
Nice music for Tomahawk Man's art screen. I was expecting Iron Maiden's "Run To the Hills."
I always just hit the cracked block that leads to Proto Man from the ladder. I figured you would have just took the "fake" Path in the actual run and showed the "true" path in the outtakes.
-Old School Video Game King-
bullet time on figth where you are slowed down, but not timeman...he's actually fair i say
Tomahawk man's weakness is the plant barrier probably since in his stage had no flowers or grass or water witch is good since I hate the water physics in mega man
My favorite from 6 is Yamato Man.
mm speaking of weapon weaknesses that make no sense. why is Splash woman weak to the hornet chaser?
I'd just need to make sure they were programmed to see me as their friend.
I like to go with the Bob and George reason of why Tomahawk Man is weak to Plant Barrier. He's allergic to it.
Yes, I discovered that myself later after going back to the magazine issue - theory proven wrong, I guess.
They're both cool, but I think I like the colors on Classic Tomahawk Man more.
The original Mega Man.
Eh, just keep in mind, I've been playing since the first MM came out, so I have years of practice ^_^;
That is rather odd, that X)
he refuses using the slide actually, want the link to read it again?
Flash Man actually was fairly fun. Bright Man.... rrrrrgh.... Time Man, I've never fought him, so I can't say for certain.
Why is the SILVER Tomahawk BROWN?
It somehow gets tarnished when Mega Man gets it.
For the longest time I thought tomahawk mans stage was based on Mexico
@neofrodo You forgot Tomahawk Man's epic headdress.
I'm actually from the US, but was raised by elder Scottish relatives.
I personally thought Tomahawk man was weak to Plant man's shield because of Tomahawk man's allergy to Plant man's pollen.
This is a list of what robots did after being ass kicked
tomahawk man: somewhere, in the montana mountains
blizzard man: skying in siberia
centaur man: Nº1 place of best humanhorsebot, ...mhmm..
flame man: trolling blizzard man
knight man: teaching history
plant man: trolling people in amazonas
wind man: working as a ventilator in public restaurants
yamato man: martial arts master
Someone's a Dynasty Warriors fan. =)
Tomahawk chop is my death blow!
Baisically a met dispenser
I WANT ONE FOR MY ROOM!
It could be worse, imagine if you got another patternless boss like Quick Man
"Random Tomahawk Man"
how do you do tomahawk man that well? hes too fast for me
Is there any reason you never use the M. Buster?
Yeah, my accent is basically what happens from being exposed to both Scottish and southeast Texas accents during formative years.
@RoahmMythril 05:32 Well, it woud help Dr Wily... oh, I'm sorry, I met Mr.X. :)
In the battle network series, Tomahawkman.exe is a fighting type Netnavi. Though he's better looking (to me) then this Tomahawk, I don't think the EXE is as hard as the NES version
@MatsuzoSF Nice theory.

HEY! THAT'S MY LINE!!!
Yes, yes I am ;)
I can only guess they were going for a stereotype of girls not liking bugs or something.
I always thought tomahawk man was in mexico.
I'm not into history. lol I should be, but... lol.
If you like TomahawkMan's music, then this is a must listen watch?v=IkL2-wC7fio
I realy wanna know why this bastard keeps using his short jumps, don't matter how far i am from him :/
