      The spoon the the oven is to level up the baking rack. Nothing important. 😊

    Hi, I have an OTG. So you mentioned that baking mode should be top & bottom heating elements without fan. So if i use an OTG, that should be toast mode with top & bottom rods heating. Please clarify should I use toast mode or bake mode. Bottom heating should be done in bake mode. I use morphy Richards OTG. Please respond

    Hi, thank you for sharing the recipe! I am wondering, since learned that temperature, material of the pans and the altitude where we live, affects the results on baking: will the material of our dish/mould for the mary bath also influences on the process/result??
    I am new on baking cakes and now very confused and intimidated with all these factors...

    Hey Michael, I love your channel and recipes. I made this cake today. When you take the cake out oven the oven after 65 minutes it shrinks quite a bit. Is this normal for this type of cake/method or is there another step to check for readiness? Thanks for a great channel. Barry

      This kind of cake will always shrink a little as you can see in this video. Tooth pick inserted into the cake comes out clean, that means is ready.

    Hello Chef Michael.... I love ur sponge cake and have tried a few of your recipes and it always turns out lovely... but my only problem is that while baking it rises but once I let it cool the cake comes down in volume and doesn’t retain its original shape.... I don’t know what I am doing wrong... could you help me this? Does the cake shrink in size for all sponge cake? Is there a way I can retain the same shape?

      Not sure what you are trying to say. This kind of cakes will always shrink a little. You can see it clearly in the video. You can see that the cake is pulling away from the pan. If the cake deflate and when completely flat that is another issue.

      Une personne lui a sensiblement poser la mm question il lui a simplement dit quil fallait quil mesure la température de son four pour etre sur de cuire a bonne température donc ça doit etre un.pb de cuisson

    For sponge cakes when I put vanilla essence, two days of storing it starts to smell very heavily like essence. Can you please let me know why it smells?
    And also if I don't use vanilla essence will it smell like egg?

      Idk the answer of your first question but in the second one is Yes, the vanilla helps to cut the eggy taste
      you can use almond essence instead of the vanilla

      Your oven temperature is too high. Try using a oven thermometer to test your oven temperature.
