I am a disabled elder. Many nights, I take my tablet to bed early, telling my daughter that I am going to spend some time with my friend, Laura. She knows that I will watch your videos over and over again, reliving some of the gardening that I used to do. Even at my age, you still teach me things and I truly enjoy gleaning your knowledge. I can't believe that some people feel that they are entitled to know your finances. Maybe they would back off if they knew that the value of the items you receive from these vendors are considered as taxable income. I hope your net income is in the millions, just like the number of your viewers. I also hope that you will continue your videos for years to come. I would love to see your numbers reach two million. Take whatever time you need with baby girl. You don't need our permission to live your life. All one million of us will wait with baited breath for your return. Hoping for an easy birth....take care.

I don’t think it’s fair that people seem to demand this channel disclose every single bit of information about a plant or subject (like the toxicity issue or light requirements). Your channel is a wealth of information and does inspire so so many. But people should take the information as a sort of introduction to things and then take it upon themselves to research more before they decide if it’s right for them or their gardens. It seems plain lazy to me how much people want everyone else to do every bit of thinking and work for them, and for free!

I completely agree. Garden Answer is an inspiration to me. When I'm inspired to plant something, I do the research to find out the finer details of the plant and then make my decision. It always impresses me that both Laura and Aaron give so many of these commenters the benefit of the doubt. Tone is difficult to determine sometimes when you're reading. Ostentatious for example is fairly obvious judgement, yet they still addressed it with humor. Same with requests to be more thorough, they acknowledge that they understand the question, but still do what they feel comfortable with. There are only so many hours in a day! Fine examples of good humans here.... letting so much roll off their back and staying neutral.

Laura and Aaron also set a good example on how to respond graciously even when some of these commenters don’t deserve it. I give them so much credit for that. Most of the time I bite my tongue and scroll on, sometimes I can’t lol.

The Hartley Botanic Greenhouses are advertised on the back of my Horticulture magazine. My first thought when I see them is always, "Wow, wouldn't that be beautiful.", followed by, "I wonder who actually owns these?", well now I know, lol! I'm super excited to see the greenhouse going in. I think a lot of us will be living vicariously through you on this adventure! :)

I see a lot of comments on the greenhouse being ostentatious. Right way I think of Aesops Fable of the fox and sour grapes. I am an aquarist and some of us have 2000 gallon or larger tanks or ponds. No ostentatious comments are made, because we love seeing the best of the best. I love the greenhouse. Never cared for the gazebo. Can't wait to watch the building process and it's so great the gazebo will have life in your town...that's awesome
Yep... I think that gazebo will be put to best use as a public structure and it has more of a public structure charm where it will be more appreciated. I have no doubt that the new greenhouse will be put to its best use by Laura.
for all those who give a negative comment about you building a Hartley....you guys have worked really really hard for everything you have. Don't let someone make you feel bad for allowing yourself a few luxuries. You deserve to splurge now and then. Geez....everyone has things they put on the dream board hoping one day it will make it into reality. Focus your attention on your dreams and celebrate with those who have accomplished one of theirs.
Heather Stephen I agree with you completely. If a person wants a swimming pool or a special vacation or a Hartley Bontanic greenhouse they save for it or finance it. It is all about priorities in one's life. Way to go Laura and Aaron; you are on the verge of fulfilling one of your dreams!

Just an idea- when I had our daughter, my son stayed with my dad. I called my son and told him she was here and I had my dad film his reaction. It was so sweet and I didn't want to miss his reaction. I love watching it. They are now 26 and 22.
On the topic of topic of plant toxicity, people need to do their own research. If you are concerned, then look up the plant before you buy. A quick google search while at the nursery or online shopping will let you weigh your own risk.

Do people know about the web or the internet it's even on their mobile phones people, and it takes a few minutes to do your homework before purchasing plants for their home (You do not even have to close the window of the page your buying plants from you can open multiple windows! I'm so glad you do things like spring for a gorgeous Hartley, at this point, it would be off brand if you guys DIDNT choose the best one. ALSO it has helped me to dream bigger and ask for what I really want - am saving for my own solarium addition. And isn't that what you get to do in your own life? I had to LOL at the furniture sets vs not sets. When hubby and I got married, we needed to pick out bedroom furniture. I said “Mix & match is in now. Omg lol when I was little, I’m 23 now, I had an antique bed and I remember my mom laying with me before going to sleep and a board would move and the mattress would turn side ways and we would panic and jump out then laugh so hard... my dad always was working on it too.

Perfect response re: plant toxicity. I've never had a cat eat a poinsettia or lily and for decades, I didn't realize they were toxic. The biggest plant danger for pets right now is folks leaving their weed or edibles around and the pets get into that!

Yes, andthe local extension agent is affiliated with one of your state universities, that deal with horticultural issues, etc.... I don’t think a lot of people know that they offer a wealth of info for the home owner. And if they don’t know, they’ll find out for you! That’s their job!

I know I'm late to the party, but we just enjoy spending time "with you" even if everything isn't strictly gardening. Antiquing, baking, decorating we love it all.
The Hartley greenhouse is engineered to withstand weather in your particular area. I live in Houston. Also looking at the Hartley small version. They will have to engineer for 120mph wind load and severe weather including hail.
Will you keep us updated? I’m in Houston, too, and hail is my largest concern.
@@digsindirt4490 Sure. They had one in Houston during Harvey. It had floodwater inside. Hartley was sure they would need to help out but the glass house was just a little dirty. It survived just fine.

We had an oleander in our garden growing up, I was always told not to pick the blooms and to wash my hands if I touched it while playing. I was a dumb kid, but this was never too complicated for me to understand. 💁♀️
Aww sweet Benjamin! My son was like that when I was pregnant with my daughter too...(we also had 2 csections) and after my daughter was born, we were all in the room and a bump on the wall startled us. I thought my son did it and said "Gavin you have to be quiet for people next door"....he stands straight up points at the little plastic crib with a fully extended straight arm and says "It wasnt me, it was Ava" 🤣🤣 that innocent bond jumped ship quick! Poor guy, everyone laughed and made sure he was in the clear letting me know it was the room next to us who made the noise 😁

I started watching your channel fall of 2019. Fast forward into 2020 as a critical care frontliner. Your videos became my life line. I found myself waiting for Grace's birth. Praying for a safe delivery and healthy baby. Anticipating the Hartley. Just a needed escape from the stress of covid at work. Bringing me back in touch with life. I ever purchased irrigation tubing a couple Dahlias even bought a hellebore. My future son in law was excited to get out in the yard and help me. So spring of 2020, I emerged more hopeful and light hearted. I really owe that to you and your videos. So I appreciate all your hard work. I think you both give more than plant information to people. Like hope and promise with every seed planted by planting new thoughts! They gave new joy to my daily living and always lending to forward thinking with promise to beauty to come. Was a welcome mind set during the start of the pandemic. I look back now and I just brushed past it through your videos and my anticipating the next one.

My fav is when Aaron engages in the discussion with you. The kids can get student loans like everyone else. Besides the way your business is growing there will be money when it is needed. You deserve this. I've heard the thorn less one has thorns when young but matures to thorn less. I have a few Viburnums but I had a worm that ate all the leaves off them last year. Luckily I found info and treated them and the leaves grew back. Then I found a treatment that is supposed to last for a year, so I treated them in the fall. I hope the problem will not return this spring.

It amazes me that people even question you buying the greenhouse. If anyone has watched you for awhile, you have always wanted one! You can’t even measure the info you both gives us. As far as college funds, many some children don’t want college. Nothing is wrong with a trade school where it doesn’t cost 100 of thousands of dollars. Please Laura & Aaron, keep doing what you do. Russell really wants that blanket, that look says PLEEEEEEEZE, I HAB BLANKIE NOW??? lol.... and can i just say: you go for that greenhouse - by golly, when opportunity knocks, GO FOR IT... no judgment here, i am sooo excited to see it from start to finish... i will probably never get to see one in person, so to see it here is exciting, and i am thrilled you are seeing a dream come true... entertaining in there will be wonderful... it makes me think of all those beautiful conservatories i see in the film noir movies i watch... you do you, you've worked hard for it, and we all get to enjoy it with you :) (off my soapbox now)... and i would say that your antiquing video is garden related because you bought vases etc to use in arrangements, so it counts, and i enjoyed it.. love watching you and your family together, it's so loving and fun (and your mom is just so much fun)...also as far as plants and specific requirments/toxicity, etc, i think that's on our shoulders to check what is appropriate for our lifestyle, zone, concerns, etc... it's easy to look up plants or to talk to your local nursery about concerns and needs.. (oops, back on the soapbox)... hope you don' t have to wait too much longer for Baby Girl... just a few more days and she will be in your arms... blessings to you and your family and prayers for a safe delivery and healthy baby!! cannot wait!! :)
I use clear gold peak tea containers, about 30 a year in January for winter sewing. I’ve had 4 years of great luck doing so 🙌🏼
I didnt even think about other plastic jugs. Duh. I just got my Arizona tea container out of the recycling bin so thanks for the tip.
Good to know! I’ve been saving clear V8 jugs since I don’t drink milk or need to buy water. Also saving the cloudy gallon jugs from white vinegar.
@@eurekamarijka Use containers you have around the house like cool whip containers, ice cream pails and 32 oz yogurt containers. Just poke holes on the lids so water can get into the containers.
Also, salad containers with lids from fast food restaurants!
I literally LOL-ed when you talked about your childhood bed because I had the exact same experience! My dad finally made new support boards so he didn’t have to keep fixing the old ones 🤣
