    Hey guys,
I addressed this in a tweet the day after I uploaded this video, however in hindsight I probably should've left it here instead:
While this series is, to me, fittingly titled *Disturbing* Things from Around the Internet, I completely understand the backlash surrounding the inclusion of number 4. Unfortunately, when making these, I've become more and more numb to what comes off as "disturbing" to me. From here on out, I'll take a step back and consider what should suitably fit as an entry, and I apologize for the mishap.
From how "mundane/boring" Volume 3 was considered, this one is pretty much the antithesis of it. I'll continue working on finding a happy medium and balance in order to ensure that this series lives on for many more entries to come.
Once again, I apologize for the mishap. Thanks for watching.
    -Ryan

Nexpo hey man, don't censor yourself, the eternally outraged will find something to whine about regardless, besides it IS called DISTURBING things from around the internet, not mildly inconvenient stuff from around the internet. If they are so sensible they shouldn't be looking this kind of content. just my two cents.

I listen to these, i dont really watch, I listen, so for a while I didn’t understand the backlash until i saw the clips people were talking about.
Honestly, i find this series as a balance of mystery ( with the ARGs and things similar to such, like the reddit posts) and news. Its a good balance and you get to know stuff about cases you have not heard of before.
I understand why people disliked the clips, they are pretty disturbing and honestly, more sad than anything else. Im honestly glad you brought light to the case though, but next time i would put a warning about it being graphic.
I get entertainment from the ARGs and Reddit Posts that are ARGs and such, its interesting to know what people can create when they have their mind to it, the Reddit Mystery posts intrigue me, but for the parts like Adrians, i dont find it as Entertainment. I see it as information, and I sympathize with the victim in that situation. Its horrible, so i dont find those parts as you entertaining me, its more of you informing me.
For future videos, since some people do consider these as entertainment, either warn about graphic content or dont put the clips in. Keep up the good work Ryan!

Hey Ryan thank you so much for addressing this. I’ve reached a similar point of desensitization so I understand that reasoning. I can only speak for myself but I don’t want you to censor yourself at all, just maybe consider tone a little bit while making these compilations. I think the stories such as the one about Adrian still deserve to be talked about but, to me, there’s a time and a place. Maybe those get their own video/series. Maybe I’m splitting hairs here, but that’s my take. Either way I have a lot of respect for you for responding to the issues people had with this video and seriously considering the criticism.

chavaspada, I was one of the people who commented about the content of this video and despite that I agree with you about not wanting Ryan/Nexpo censoring himself. I can’t speak for everyone but my issue wasn’t with the Adrian case being covered but moreso with the context it was in. I’m an avid horror fan and am very interested in true crime and cause of that I have seen a lot of really fucked up stuff, true and fictional. But sometimes I’m in the mood for creepy internet stuff and not real life child torture and murder, yanno? I’m sure a lot of people who don’t have the same tolerance for fucked up stuff watched this and were upset but it wasn’t solely an issue that sensitive people had.

thank you for being mature about this. i think if you were to make a separate series for this kind of thing and put warnings either at the beginning of the videos or just before you show something sensitive, no one would have a problem with that. i think most people, me included honestly, were just a lil taken aback because we were only expecting a halloween special.

In isekai themed mangas there are often abused kids to death as the one reincarnating in new world, having great abilities and amazing life. In this moments we could hope Adrian is a MC of his own adventure out there, in the end noone knows what truly lies after death (but we can tell that there is no heaven and hell cuz those would not work in the long run or would be going against their own characteristics)

It's sickening, they deserve death, if not death then at the very least they can rott in Guantanamo Bay or better than that be marked as a pedo snitch and thrown into general population in Rikers...I didn't expect to get so infuriated from this video...

It’s so sad that some of those kids get so much worse outcomes than if they just stayed with their parents. Or even worse don’t ever get a happy ending. I really recommend once we were a family. It’s such a horrible and sad story. My mom was an adoptee and it messed her up. It’s why I feel so heavy on this subject. A lot of them take every single piece of you old family away from you which makes it so much worse for that kid. It’s actually so sad and something has to change with the system.

I was abused as a child, I reached out to social services and they contacted my stepmother told her everything I told them and released me to her treating me like an attention seeking liar. same here. when i was very young, my school caught on that my mother was physically abusing and neglecting me, and they sent a social worker to talk to me about it. i told them everything and then they talked to her about it. she put on the crocodile tears and nothing came of it. i was never helped.
i dont understand why they figure talking to the adult at all would verify anything in that situation. of COURSE the person being accused of abuse will deny it and claim innocence. no one would ever admit to something so incriminating. my mother, in that sense, was a master of deception. she was very good at fooling people in to thinking she was a calm and benevolent woman, but behind closed doors she became a monster to me. but because everyone believed her lies, she was able to get away with hurting me until my dad finally caught on to what was going on and kicked her out. (thank you papa, i love you)
children do make up some fake stories every now and then, but if a child is ever talking about being abused or neglected, it is the responsibility of the adults around them to intervene. children pretty much never lie about something like that. i dont think they have the capacity or knowledge to.

We absolutely dread ever finding instances of it, but know that the potential is always there. During a psychotic episode the person usually checks out. This isn't of their own free will, mind you. She must have had some serious shit happen to her that caused her to mentally snap like that. She even said herself that she had no recollection of those two days, and that's actually commonplace for some people during a psychotic break.
I'm not excusing her actions though. If a person has serious mental issues they should not be allowed to bear children *at all.* However, I don't think it's right to call her a monster when she's a victim to mental illness, like the son was an unfortunate victim to her own actions.

Listening to that voicemail instantly took me back to when I was a kid. We had a landline with a wireless phone in our backroom that we got when I was about twelve or so. We'd gone into the city to do some shopping, and been gone all day. When we got home, Mom went to the backroom to check the messages, and I followed. She hit the 'play button' and on came the generic 'You have one missed message', and then what happened still haunts me to this day.
A little background for context: my mom' and her older brother didn't have the best relationship; he passed away from a heart attack two years ago, and he was more con man than good man. He treated my mom horribly, refused to acknowledge we were even part of the family (even going so far as to calling her a slut in front of me on the front steps of our house after a particularly bad argument, before calling me a bastard; I was eight when that argument went on) and so we rarely, if ever, heard from him unless he wanted something that could benefit him.
So fast forward to that voicemail and missed message- what we heard was a man in absolute tears. He was sobbing for several minutes, before we finally hear 'Karen, I'm sorry. Karen, I'm sorry. Karen, I need your help. I'm sorry, Karen. I'm sorry. Karen, I'm sorry.' I know my uncle's voice very well; it sounded exactly like him on the message, to the point where I tugged on my mom's sleeve and said, 'That's Uncle Herb.'
Mom called the number back, expecting to hear my uncle on the other end of the line, but all she got was, 'The number you are trying to dial does not exist.' She actually called my uncle, and asked him what he needed her help for, and why was he apologizing, and he replied with, 'Karen, what are you talking about? I don't need help. And if I did, I wouldn't call you.' And she replied with, 'Yes, you did. You told me you needed help, specifically by name. I have the message.' He insisted he hadn't left the message, and had been at work all day. We've never figured out who the man was, why he called us, or how he knew my mom's name, and I've never forgotten it.

I know this comment is from a year ago and you might not see it, but I have a plausible answer that might bring you some peace. Many years ago, when I was little, there was a common scam practice in my area (Buenos Aires, Argentina) where a scammer would call a landline pretending to cry. They would get people's names and phones, usually through stealing their mail, and would call desperately asking for help. They usually targeted people who they thought might have children, and would ask form money saying that they were their son/daughter and had been kidnapped. This usually happened in the middle of the night so the parents would be half asleep and scared and would comply with the "kidnappers" and take money to the front door, where an accomplice on motorcycle would pick it up. Although this happened years ago and in a different country, something similar could have happened in your case, whith the scammers leaving a voice message when the phone wasn't answered. It doesn't explain why the caller sounded so much like your uncle, although that could be a creepy coincidence. However, it does explain the number not existing anymore, since these calls were made from burner phones to avoid detection. It even happened to my mom, but thankfully I was asleep in my room and she already knew about these type of scams so she didn't fall for it.

Lotta child abusers get sent to the PC (protective custody) yard, but the PC yards have dropout gangs(gangs made up of people who dropped out/got kicked out of other gangs) and they might be snitches and bitchmade pussies but they still hate child abusers and they're still willing to put in work.

It’s because the US foster care system is overwhelmingly overworked, bureaucratically restrained, and underfunded. The ONLY way to get kids into the system is to prove their is IMMEDIATE danger. That means they are imminently at risk of death. Not harm, not a great chance of death, but that there is proof they have an overwhelming chance to be killed right that second. Many homeless parents try to put their kids into foster care only to be told no because even homelessness isn’t considered “immediate danger”, even though some crackhead could kill that kid or sell them into sex trafficking the very next day.
So the investigation somehow concluded that Adrian was not at immediate risk of death. I doubt they didn’t know he was being abused, but they clearly underestimated the scale of physical abuse.
This happens all the time. Kids that should be rescued from their parents are left with them. What’s even worse is that the system is NO place for ANYONE. It’s chock full of other types of abusers, some who literally work the foster kids as slaves, a great deal of sexual abuse, and a lot of neglect. But at least the foster “parents” are watched enough that they’re unlikely to murder the kids.

This very type of thing has happened and could very well still be happening to my nephews and niece.
I don't know of all of the facts that led up to the abuse as I wasn't there to witness absolutely everything (BUT WHICH I HAVE SEEN RESULTS FROM ABUSE FIRST HAND!) but my sister had those kids taken away and full custody given to 'him' after bitter disputes over about 3 years while 'he' remarried a sick woman who has a criminal history of willful cruelty to her own children.
Why they are BOTH able to keep custody, or even just visitation, is beyond me.
During the custody battles, one of my nephews, the eldest of them, was beaten and forced to say things that were so untrue and so insane, implicating several of my family members and with time frames that I know without any doubt or hesitation was a sick and sinister way to use the kids to make claims so that they could have full custody for reasons I've only been able to discern as simply having control as well as making life miserable for my sister.
They made it impossible for the eldest to even speak to a judge (Minor's Council making himself out as completely careless or completely bought) as things were getting worse because they placed him in an institution and put him on at least one drug I know of. I've read my ex brother in law's testimonies, hearings, court petitions and I know it's all sick, demented lies at the expense of those kids and of my sister. I've seen the massive, disgusting bruises just before he was taken away from his mother and the rest of the family from seeing.
There was no investigation. My sister was poor and we all scraped for a lawyer, all but wanted to settle everything after their lies placed her in jail for several months. And the fucking new Kern County DA only wanted to make a career for herself and not bring real justice.
Different type of story, but what remains is nothing short of child abuse all the same.
It's been about a year and I still don't know if what's happening has continued or not, but given the history of 'him' and his new wife with a record of several charges from 2012 to 2014.. only thing I can do is hope.
The system is so broken, and I mean for the welfare for children in the United States as a whole.
I'm a huge advocate and protectorate for kids.. just breaks my heart and I've lost a bit of my sanity over this crazy saga.
I truly wish there was something I could do that wouldn't have me behind bars. I'm absolutely paranoid of trying to approach one of my nephews if I can manage to catch him somewhere just to see how he is doing because those 2 parents are sick and they won't stop to make life a living hell for anyone. I'm not sure if that makes me a coward or not. But it makes me feel so worthless and so helpless.

"I've never been so terrified in my life"
"I gotta (maybe upstairs?) I've got to"

    "Somebody, somebody, anybody"
If you pay attention to when the screams really start getting louder, there's another voice... I cant tell what it says, maybe be quiet or something similar. But for a brief moment it's there, and you can hear it, a distinct difference in volume, tone, and distance. Creepy.
Idk how much of this anyone else has found, and there are a few more things I can half make out, but nothing I can say for certain. I can't speak too much towards how CPS works as I am located in Canada. However, if the Children's Aid Society (our CPS) is anything like the system you guys have, it can be tricky.
Due in part to how easy it can be for any anonymous schmuck to make a false claim of abuse, there are systems in place that require workers to slowly work through everything, unless BLATANTLY obvious.
Even in those cases, all child welfare investigations are grinded to a standstill because of all the bureaucracies that don't get the child the best care they could possibly can.
We were taught, in college, that the best interests of the child or youth come first and, in situations like this, it is a damn shame that the system, and the bureaucracies, failed Adrian.

A couple of years ago, he REALLY started to break down, and would post for hours and hours, hundreds if not thousands of stuses and comments per day, they weren't completely nonsensical, but you could definitely tell he wasn't in his right mind. Stuff like, there's people out there trying to kill him, they poisoned all the food and water in his house, he even begged me to drop off some food and water on his doorstep even though he knows I live states away from him. He eventually started believing he was Jesus reincarnated, that the end of the world is coming and that he wanted all of his friends to come "follow him into heaven" and whatnot. Unfortunately, he ended up driving to his father's house and strangling him to death, and has been in prison ever since. I really hope that woman is doing okay.

It was extremely shocking when it happened though of course. I think it was a pretty publicized case where he lived because there were hundreds of comments on an article about him (that conveniently didn't mention his mental state) calling him the devil, pure evil, they hope he dies in prison, etc. and those were very hard to read too. His father was also apparently a very sweet man who wouldn't hurt a fly, so that was hard for people to swallow as well.

Its absolutely awful, but I think a lot of case workers aren’t totally prepared for cases so extreme and instead look at if the child is in reasonably good health, clothed, in school (since they said they were homeschooling him), and is in a home (no matter how awful). It’s absolutely disgusting what goes on in households that have been investigated, not to mention ones that haven’t been. I feel so awful for that little guy and I’m hoping he’s in a better place with people who love him and at peace.

    • @beepot2764
      @beepot2764 6 років тому +1

Most times when a case worker doesn't remove a child from a home it is due to a lack of evidence. It's not unusual for a parent to say well he's a little boy and he gets bruises and bumps all the time, and I'm sorry the house is a mess. I've been working and it's gotten out of hand. If the parents don't have any past history, the child is reasonably healthy looking, running and playing, there's food in the house, there's not much a worker can do at that point. The law built to protect children has maddening caveats you have to follow. Case workers have illegally removed children before only to find out there wasn't a reason for it. Not saying that that's what happened in Adrian's case, honestly I don't know any of the details other than what was presented here. It's just so frustrating. Everyone hates child services bc they fuck up or don't do enough when they are just people who are usually inundated with too many cases and not enough support :/ the whole system needs fixing but the only way to do that would be to hire and retain more people, but most people drop out right after the training a family case manager gets.

@grim glum Yep, and on the flip side, there are children who haven't been abused at all being removed at the drop of a dime, never to be returned.
There's a Muslim man who has been trying to get his son back for years. He used to be allowed visitation, and he would record everything on camera because they kept trying to say the son didn't want to see him. On the videos, the boy runs happily to him... and is covered in bruises. But the system won't listen to him when he begs that the boy at least be moved to a new foster home. I think they removed the boy because they were claiming that he couldn't properly care for the child after the death of the mother.
Either way, this happens a lot, too. Typically to parents too poor to fight legal battles over the issue.

A lot of people tend to think "Oh, well someone else will help, so I don't need to." It's, unfortunately, part of the human mind. It's even more prevalent if there's a crowd. Nobody will help cause everyone thinks someone else in the crowd will help.

To actually think that Adrian Jones’ parents tortured his poor soul for such a long time before leaving him to starve to death is absolutely gnarly to me. To think such a sweet boy can be subjected to such inhumane cruelty sickens me to death. I truly hope he is in a better place now, and that his parents rot in prison.

As someone who has spent quite a bit of time at parks, seeing someone pushing a child on a swing that is crying while I'm just walking by would be pretty normal to me, thinking that the parent was just trying to calm the child down. Now if I was hanging around for a while and it kept going on and the mother never stopped/was acting weird I would definitely notice, but just walking by it wouldn't seem out of the ordinary.
