"Who Love You Better" than I do...nobody! I play them all the time, for most of my life for the past 40 years. Until now, I had never seen an interview with Ernie Isley.
Going to the same high school, with the younger brothers, Marvin and Ernie was very cool, and having the opportunity to hear some of their music before the masses, was off the hook!
Fantastic interview, thanks! Man, for the longest time, I never knew- the Isley Brothers coulda been purple for all I knew or cared. “But we got Jimi” would always handle all guitar parts! Long live the Isley Brothers!
For sometime in the 60s Jimi Hendrix was a homeless traveling musician that spent sometime living with the Isley family in Cincinnati & was an early influence on Ernie Isley as a guitar player.
@@theethnicist5678 That is very true. But I heard Summer Breeze before I heard of Hendrix and before I knew what a Fender Stratocaster was. I’m telling people how I got started on guitar and what I noticed by other’s style of f playing.

They still do but alot of black singers arent singing like ron or smokey anymore, harder for bands to connect

Love Ernie. Such a soft spoken, humble, extremely talented man.
Ernie's Fender Strat is BEAUTIFUL!!!
He has 3 of them built for him by the Fender Custom Shop. All Zeal Strats. The one he's pictured with is Zeal #2

Nice interview. I “discovered “ them in 1971 & Always Loved em! They got a Sound like Nobody else.❤✌️
Isley brothers are the best. I grew up in Philly with their best songs.
My guitar playing started from Earnie Isley. His style also birthed Prince and many others who didn’t give him credit.
the host didn't realize he was playing fight the power, lame lol
Yes! He deserve his flowers
Actually; You'd have Jimi Hendrix to thank for ALL of their inspiration. Quite sure they'd tell'ya that as well.

My guitar hero.
-Drumming was awesome too.
i remember seeing them in Atlantic City because my dad wanted to see them i wasn't even a fan back then so i didn't pay attention, but now i'm a fan

It's really strange Ernie never mentions Chris Jasper who wrote a lot of the Isley Brother slow sensual songs that became big hits.
Chris told me they wrote them together

A lot of the questions about the older days were before Ernie's time. So he couldn't answer them as straight forward as Ronald or Rudolph could have.
Ernie my Babi..
Cold part was that was Jimi Hendrix on the left in that B&W pic.
what do you mean cold part
Cold part is that the picture probably has nothing to do with the Isley Brothers. I don't think that was their band,
