@@lshepherd6137the movie was a bit too fast paced for my liking. He met and then was ostracised from people in 4 minutes at times. Literally just rewatched it. Another thing was they made a big deal about Ray refusing to play in front of a segregated audience in Georgia and said how he got an award and pardon in 1979 because of it. But also fail to mention that Ray then went to Sun City in South Africa in 1981 and played infront of an entirely segregated audience in a country with the worst racial segregation laws ever. So… that’s a bit of a swing and a miss there.
He deserved it. Best acting job ever.
Having Ray says "The boy got it" about you is an achievement that's worth to be carved on your tombstone.

He truly truly gave Jamie foxx his blessings. Look how close he was to him. Touching him was basically Ray visualizing Jamie doing a great job on his biopic. Especially after they played the piano together

Jamie Foxx gave one of the finest acting performances I’ve ever seen in Ray! When I watched that movie at times I actually thought that Jamie Foxx was the real Ray Charles. That’s the hallmark of some really fantastic acting.
To find out that Jamie was a trained pianist was amazing!
Did you know that all the songs except for 5 were actually performed by Ray Charles? Those 5 were actually sung Jamie Foxx

when I saw the film, I didn't see Jamie Foxx. I saw Ray Charles. incredible.
Man! I remember this movie’s release and it sent Jamie into the stratosphere. Then he dropped that album and sampled Ray Charles. All the stars aligned!!

There are two types of magic in this world.
The guy on stage doing sleight of hand misdirection gags with playing cards, trinkets and the like.
Then there is Jamie Foxx, a real life Wizard in the flesh.
What Jamie does with his portrayal of Ray Charles is truly a form of magic that hides behind the word “acting”.
His performance is so incredible I was compelled to purchase this movie as a must have for my collection.

@@novalove4790 they did Viola wrong for that film, because in hindsight Michelle really did exactly that often and just as exaggerated too. I think seeing someone else do it made it too obvious and so it became undesirable. Also, Jamie grew up parodying, so it really helped him to nail this role.

Legend..........I watch the movie "Ray" every time it comes on TV. Jamie Foxx, did a amazing job, of portraying Ray Charles. In my opinion, NO OTHER ACTOR, could've done it better.

Jamie Foxx,really did do Ray Charles justice in the movie 🎉🎉. Watching Jamie Foxx was like looking right into Ray Charles 🎉🎉. It was really hard at times to realize that it was Jamie Foxx and not Ray Charles, that's how you know that you gave an example of an excellent performance 🎉🎉. This movie is definitely priceless work of art 🎉🎉. A timeless classic.
I had no idea Jamie played piano, i just know he absolutely KILLED it in the movie. Ray Charles is a GIANT in music and Jamie pulled it off so so well. I loved loved loved this movie. This is such a cool video to see them meeting and jamming .

He did most of his stand ups with a piano. He'd be playing and telling jokes at the same time. He knew how to really paint a picture. Pure talent.
I wished that the late Billy Preston was alive to see this movie.

Everybody did a great job in this movie. Jamie's playing makes his portrayal of Ray Charles believable. As soon as this movie started I believed him.
We lost so much when Ray died.
It's not just how absolutely amazing Jamie Foxx was for this, but also how much incredible joy Ray Charles showed when he was working with Jamie.

Jamie worked hard on this role, and it must have been painful for him to have Ray pass away before the film was released. I'm not sure if the filming was completed before Ray's passing, but if it wasn't, it had to have been real tough to concentrate on finishing his scenes. A truly amazing performance about an amazing talent.

Jamie has these incredible abilities that gave him the ability to portray Ray Charles so accurately, it's just amazing. You forget you're watching Jamie Foxx and not Ray Charles.
The footage of Ray Charles playing behind Jamie Fox's basic blues pattern is INCREDIBLE! There's a lot of his recordings, but not a lot of him just sitting solo at the piano improvising like that. He died just before the release of this film - the recording he made of Drown In My Own Tears for this is some of the best I've ever heard him play. He channeled blues piano - as if he gave it birth. I'm damn glad I got to see him play live before he died
I can remember the excitement I had hearing this movie was being made. It's one of my all time favorites. The footage of him playing the Chitling Circuit w/Lowell Fulsom is worth the ticket alone. There aren't enough movies that cover the R&B era before rock and roll

I believe God used Jamie to show us all a different perspective of how persistence repeatition and perseverance plays a great role in staying anchored and overcoming tough obstacles in which that was Rays whole life.
