One of my favourite bands. Toy Caldwell was one amazing song writer. Loved their jazzy influences. Listen to Desert Skies, Fire on the Mountain, Am I the Kind of Man. Many others.
All my friends started listening to these lads when they were new and we were in college. Wonderful stuff. So sad that so many of them have passed away.
I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up for this one. I love watching you get to know one of my favorite all time bands and hear some great Country Rock. The genre includes also The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws and many more great bands.
"Can't You See" was their biggest hit. A blend of rock, jazz and blues gives their songs an easy listening power even accented with 🎻 🎻and 🎹🎹. Thanks Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Ray Charles loved "Can't You See' and paid it some huge compliments. Wish I could remember the exact quote. Maybe someone else remembers it. Hopefully they see this and add to it.
Ummmm, "Heard It In A Love Song" was their biggest hit in 1977 and hit no.14 on the charts. "Can't You See" when originally released in 1973 only hit no.108 on the charts, but when reissued in 1977 hit no.75
Such a groove! This is what I love about reaction channels like yours, Harri. I bought this album when it first came out, and I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times since then. But when I watch you reacting to it, it’s like hearing it again through new ears. What a great crew of musicians these guys were. Thanks Harri, and thanks Uncle Phil for suggesting this!
Such a great blend of southern rock, folk jazz jam! I'm 73 and this is my favorite MTB song of all time. A perfect driving down the highway song at 2AM.😊
Founding member Toy Caldwell (RIP) became known as "The Thumb" for his unique playing style in not using a guitar pick. Brother Tommy described the band's style as "Progressive Country". Love you reaction Harry. It is the most common reaction to this wonderful 1970's band.
same...heard it for the first time tonight and went down a big rabbit hole of instructional videos, reaction videos, etc. I've heard and laughed off Marshall Tucker since the 70s. How have I never heard this before?
Top-tier musicianship with not just guitars, but piano, flute and fiddles getting multiple opportunities to shine, and bass and drums performing at peak rockingness throughout equals a rollicking good time! Outstanding! A new one to me from this southern rock crew, thanks, Harri, oh God indeed!
I am So-Cal/LA thru-n-thru but when I was an undergrad student at KU, in Lawrence, we had some fellers from St. Charles, Missou way, and them boys turned me unto some Marshall Tucker, and I ain't never been the same. I never got the chance but I gotta thank them fellers for turning me unto this legendary Southern Blues/Rock band ... they just never miss!
"Searching for a Rainbow", "Can't You See", "Heard it in a Love Song", and "Fire on the Mountain" are all excellent next choices. Thanks for sharing Harri.
Take the Highway, See You Later, I'm Gone, In My Own Way, Blue Ridge Mountain Sky, You Ain't Foolin' Me are all good songs too. Just as good as any from Marshall Tucker Band.
This is southern rock at it's finest. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their big hits were "Can't You See", "Fire On The Mountain" & "Heard It In A Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.
Another Marshall Tucker Band cowboy song I really like listening to is "The Last of the Singing Cowboys". You should listen to it if you really like beautiful music, Harri.
Quick summary- The words fiddle and violin are two names for the same stringed instrument-fiddle is just an informal way of referring to the violin. In the context of classical music, it's typically called a violin. In a bluegrass band, it's more likely to be called a fiddle.
Fiddle originally was the English term. You can go into the most expensive violin ship in London and it might be referred to as a fiddle. But in the US, yeah, it's just how it's played.
Eons ago I had the pleasure of seeing the Marshall Tucker Band, with Elvin Bishop as the opening act. After the Marshall Tucker Band finished their first encore, and the audience on its feet begging for more, the flute player came out and asked for a little patience. Next the roadies hit the stage, and rearranged the equipment and both bands came out together, and beginning with "will the circle be unbroken," they played together for another half hour at least. After attending dozens of concerts, it remains one of the best I ever saw.
HIGH Harri.... Toy and Tommy Caldwell both are gone but they formed this great band. Another that I've seen live. This Ol' Cowboy is a favorite. Perfection.
I've listened to this hundreds of times and this listen was the first time I thought of George Benson during that guitar part. Glad someone suggested this to you. Your ears are better for it.
Marshall Tucker so underrated!! Best country/ southern rock ever!! Miss them!! Toy Caldwell finger picking, George Mc Corkle on drums so great, Tommy Caldwell bass, and of course, Doug Gray on vocals, Jerry Eubanks on flute!! So great, do awesome!! Love them!❤
But LA magivia, a couple of great ones also here. They'd gotta album with Charlie Daniels on the federal. They do a song. They're doing all this on the road. And I did a song in my own one. And my own way to me it's just wonderful wonderful
I haven’t heard this song in forever! Your reaction made me really hone in on the melody, the instrumentation, and the lyrics. You are right, it is beautiful! Thank you for this great reaction! Definitely put a smile on my face. I will be listening to this song again, and again…
Hi, HarriBest Reactions. Your Uncle knows how to pick them. One of my favorite songs of all time. If it doesn't make you cry, I'll shed an extra tear, just for you! Best wishes.
My favorite of this band by far. Just a fun, feel good song. Guitarist Toy Caldwell was a Vietnam war veteran and was wounded and medically discharged in 1967 after being the victim of a land mine. He played with the band for many many years and passed away in 1993 at only 45 years old. This was a single and I loved it.
We saw them a few years ago at the downtown park in Greer SC, 30 miles from Spartanburg SC, where they are from. Some of the original members have died, but the band is still excellent. 👍
I've listened to Marshall Tucker Band since they came out on popular radio, but I never bought their albums and never heard this song., Fantastic! Thanks!
I googled "The Last Of The Singing Cowboys" by The Marshall Tucker Band. This is the first video that has played The Marshall Tucker Band. I've never listened to this one before. You are right, Harri. Thank you for reacting to this song.
Marshall Tucker Band 24 Hours At a Time at Volunteer Jam. This is live, not on an album. The song itself is recorded but this live version is by far the best. Tommy plays the bass like I never heard a bass before. Toy made that 57 Gibson scream. It was the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam and he played fiddle. At end, his bow strings were in shreds. One of their best performances in my opinion. Grew up in their area. Love my boys. Toy here was a Vietnam war hero, purple heart. They had the talent.
Thanks for your reaction! It's great to see how much you appreciate music. I guess it's been said before by other people that watching someone else hear a song for the first time is almost as good as hearing it for the first time again myself. MTB had tons of talent all around. As you said a few times, it's such pretty music.
This is an example of Texas Swing Music (or Western Swing) which combines county, jazz, bluegrass and the big band sound. It's upbeat music with jazz type solo interludes that just makes you want to get up and dance. Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys were one of the most popular old time (30's?) Texas swing bands. Asleep at the Wheel is a popular present day swing band.
That is Charlie Daniels (RIP) and Andy Stein playing the twin fiddles. What a gorgeous piece of music.
Any Fan of Marshall Tucker Band is someone i could share a pitcher of beer with.😀
Grew up with this music. It never gets old ☺️
Toy Caldwell is one the most underrated Guitarist of all time! No one has ever played his style again. Never used a pick as well.
That’s right. Toy used his thumb instead of a pick. Saw the Tucker boys several times. Never failed to disappoint. RIP Toy and Tommy.
"Thunder Thumb"!
@@jodyholland5687 His brother also used his thumb on his bass.
This song always moves me like no other song I have ever heard. Marshal Tucker deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Anyone that has experienced the music of this band in the 70's and 80's were very fortunate...the uniqueness, the talent...never duplicated.
Welcome to one of the most underrated bands of all time.
Marshall Tucker is your favorite country bands favorite band ✌🤘
I wore out the Cassette for this band in my 68 Camaro...twice
One of my favourite bands. Toy Caldwell was one amazing song writer.
Loved their jazzy influences.
Listen to Desert Skies, Fire on the Mountain, Am I the Kind of Man. Many others.
One of my top 5 as well. My favorite of all is 24 Hours at a Time.
🤙Try "24 Hours at a Time" by these guys.
Now that's some American music!
All my friends started listening to these lads when they were new and we were in college. Wonderful stuff. So sad that so many of them have passed away.
Any fan of Marshall Tucker is a friend of mine
I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up for this one. I love watching you get to know one of my favorite all time bands and hear some great Country Rock. The genre includes also The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws and many more great bands.

he reacted to "Can't You See' already

Thanks, man. Haven't listened to this song in 30 years.

Great band. The guitarist and main singer, Toy Caldwell, plays guitar so gracefully, melodically and sublimely.
The main singer is Doug Gray. Toy would normally sing one song or at most on their albums.
Love seeing someone enjoying good music that I grew up on.
"In My Own Way" is one of the smoothest songs you'll ever hear.
A tasty country/jazz morsel from the southern rock buffet.
Toy Caldwell. That's all you have to think about with these guys. Rest in piece Toy.
What a band of musicians. As Tuco Salamanca would say, Tight! Tight! Tight!
Ramblin' is another with a Jazz flavor to it. 24 Hours At A Time and Searchin' For A Rainbow are my favorites.
I've never heard this song. I love it! Thank you, Uncle Phil for requesting it & thank you Harri for your reaction.
You’re very welcome ✌️
This is still my favorite reaction video you've done!
this ranks in my top 5 songs of all time.
This is exactly the same I reacted to this song the first time I heard it! 😂
same...heard it for the first time tonight and went down a big rabbit hole of instructional videos, reaction videos, etc. I've heard and laughed off Marshall Tucker since the 70s. How have I never heard this before?

Great reaction to a fantastic song. Harri, I love your enthusiasm! It always brightens my day 🌺✌️
"Searching for a Rainbow", "Can't You See", "Heard it in a Love Song", and "Fire on the Mountain" are all excellent next choices. Thanks for sharing Harri.
Take the Highway, See You Later, I'm Gone, In My Own Way, Blue Ridge Mountain Sky, You Ain't Foolin' Me are all good songs too. Just as good as any from Marshall Tucker Band.
OMG...Searching for a Rainbow...Fire on the Mountain...such great tunes!!!!
This my favorite song by Marshall Tucker Band🎵🎶🥁🎻🪕🎸🎹 they're tight! I love each solo!🎵
I was a teenager when this song came out. I haven't heard it in decades and I forgot what a groove it is. Great request.
Fantastic! Seeing you groove to the music Harri truly makes me smile! Great reaction!!
Paul riddle on drums ...
One of my first albums! 💜
This is southern rock at it's finest. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their big hits were "Can't You See", "Fire On The Mountain" & "Heard It In A Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.

Really? I always thought they were different. Like the difference between an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar.
Yeah, the difference is style, how it's played musically
Fiddle originally was the English term. You can go into the most expensive violin ship in London and it might be referred to as a fiddle. But in the US, yeah, it's just how it's played.
It was such a refreshing song and positive, realistic approach to a breakup

The musical arrangment is pure jazz... the drums.. swap the fiddle for a horn section.. the way the guitars play... cool ass cowboy jazz
fkn luv this song. such chill , quick paced song. hard to pull off, but these fellers sure done it.
HIGH Harri.... Toy and Tommy Caldwell both are gone but they formed this great band. Another that I've seen live. This Ol' Cowboy is a favorite. Perfection.
Toy Caldwell.
This is a wonderful song that truly captures the progressive country sound of MTB. Thank you for a great reaction.
Great reaction Thanks Harri
FANTASTIC choice and a perfect reaction!!
A good one for sure. Solid southern rock band. Try Can You See and Heard it in a Love Song which are legendary tunes by this great band.
I've listened to this hundreds of times and this listen was the first time I thought of George Benson during that guitar part. Glad someone suggested this to you. Your ears are better for it.
Desert skies and southern woman are a must hear from Marshall Tucker
Thanks Harri, I forgot how much I like this song!
I've always said, music will be the key that united us all in a word of harmony and peace. A smile is understood in all dialects.
Love them!❤

The best concert I ever attended. One of the top Southern Rock Bands.
Absolutely enjoyed vibing with you to this song it’s such a great tune. My mom showed me these guys last week and I love them 👍🏼
If you really like that, you'd love 'the last cowboy song' by Ed Bruce.
Cool song. Thanks for sharing that.
My favorite southern rock band of the '70's and their best song! Saw them in concert in 1975.....AWESOME! Was probably Charlie Daniels on fiddle.
It was.
Love this song! Have it on my playlist.
Dude! Love your reactions! I grew up listening to this group. Thrillled that you like it also. Keep it up friend!
the late great Charlie Daniels on fiddle ...
Pretty sure it's Toy on one of them, too.
We saw them a few years ago at the downtown park in Greer SC, 30 miles from Spartanburg SC, where they are from. Some of the original members have died, but the band is still excellent. 👍
Yes! One of the best. So pretty.
One of their best :).

Pretty Little Love Song is another great one
Harri, their "Heard It in a Love Song" is next for you, classic!! You've reacted to their other big hit.
One of the most hummable riffs in the history of recorded music. Somebody tell him who the fiddle player and flute players were!!!
Marshall Tucker Band 24 Hours At a Time at Volunteer Jam. This is live, not on an album. The song itself is recorded but this live version is by far the best. Jazz country rock fusion.

Did you know that Toy Caldwell never used a guitar pick?
I've been an MTB fan since 1973!
"And I guess I always will!"
Americana at its best. God bless the USA!
Thank you! Smoked a doob so it sounds extremely good. I miss those days.
Never heard this one. Great groove!

Another one of their songs that is awesome is titled Desert Skies. If you have time please check that out . Have a wonderful night Sir ☀️✌️
