A song that captures the true esscence of MTB... their roots are deep into the lost era of country but with a very progressive sound musically. Thanks much for the great review
"This kind of music...real warm...welcoming. If that make sense." Makes perfect sense to me. Great band. Great musicians. Enjoyed your analysis and reaction. Really tight band.
They're from Spartanburg, SC. The drummer is Paul T Riddle, one of my best friends! Doug Gray is my first cousin and lead singer, but he's not featured on this track. Toy Caldwell is singing this one. Rock on🤘🤘
That's probably my favorite line in any song I've ever heard. As soon as I kiss the lips of another woman I'm gonna forget all about you. Hell ya Marshall Tucker, hell ya.
Not the song I would have requested for an introduction to this group. I would have definitely started with 'Cant you See'. This song has a heavy country twang while being very busy. Vastly two different sounds. If you didn't know any better, you would never suspect the two songs were by the same band.
I been hoping to find a instrumental of this song, its one of my favorite all time songs, and I love to do a cover of it. Yea, some honesty in the lyrics... Lead on! but if you enjoyed this, you should also check out there other three songs " Desert Skies", Last of the Singing Cowboys" or "Running Like the Wind"
My grandparents lived in mesquite Texas and in the 70s 80s they managed a place called The Texas Longhorn Ballroom. The band Alabama played there regularly before they hit the big time. They got autographed albums! The ballroom closed some time in the 90s and sat with everything still inside. Then a production company bought it, filmed an AEROSMITH video with a drunken bar fighting scene the sold it! The video is so dear to my heart because every spring break we visited and ate and danced there. Check it out. Aerosmith- what it takes
Whenever possible, you gotta listen to the super groups from the sixties and seventies on vinyl! It actually "takes you there"! As for the videos, try for the live versions. First recommendation, FREE BIRD . . . . . OAKLAND . . . .1977. No need to thank me, I already know.
See how The Marshall Tucker Band combined country southern rock and jazz into this song? magnificent
Right on statement!

Musically it’s close to perfect. Melodic, simple lyrics, his voice and the band create a great song. This is early 70’s.
This band is as tight as they come. Excellent, excellent musicians.
Vietnam vets kicking it. Essential Southern rock.
All the original members were from Spartanburg South Carolina. Most of the music was recorded in Macon GA. Great review and reaction!
Marshall Tucker songs "Can't You See" "24 hours at a time" "Heard It In A Love Song" and "Fire on the Mountain"
love all of those. MTB. one of the greats. oh and " fly like an eagle "
