Here’s the deal, and this is for those who really like fakes. Make sure when you buy a fake watch, have a real bmw or mercedes benz to go with it so people don’t ask! Buying a Patek...wearing it and riding a compact honda ain’t gonna wing it! It’s about perception. Now for those who prefer the real thang, save up and make sure you have insurance and can afford the parts and services every 5 years. It’s just like getting married! May I be excused from your logic? I drive a Mercedes, but I don't wear a fake... I have not invested in a high end watch in over twenty years, but I don't mind wearing what I got back in the day... Now I'm fascinated by the new Citizen eco drive watches and they are really affordable. To these fake ones... If you buy a Picasso replica because you like it, or have a Mona Lisa hanging on your wall, which everybody knows can't be real because of the obvious (it's hanging at the Louvre), this does not mean you shouldn't have them... Same with replica watches; nobody would assume it's real, but you wear it because you like it AS A REPLICA. Do you find it moral for Swiss watchmakers to use twenty dollar movements (calibers) and sell you the watch for one grand, because I don't?
@@A.Dude. moral? If the market bears that a maker can sell them to the retailer at a certain cost, and the retailer is able maintain demand by selling them at even thousands of dollars per watch, then they will. "Moral" has nothing to do with it
If you want to wear a 1st teir Rolex everyday, including sports and recreation, why not wear a clone and keep your real one for office or suit and tie affairs. I think i would only wear a clone if i owned the real one and was just trying to avoid hard wear and tear in a R&R setting.
I hope the fakes get so good that the idiots pouring money in to the real thing lose everything, the over inflated prices of the real thing are an absolute joke.
Clean and VSF factories makes super clone Rolexes which is indistinguishable from the real one if you swap a few parts with gen ones such as the ballance wheel
I ordered an automatic all stainless steel Rolex from China 3 Years ago. It looked so real that a jeweler couldn't tell it was fake without taking the back off. I paid $38 USD. Fast forward 3 years later it has not changed color at all and it still works!
@@eddyla00 There are already near perfect fakes, that cost between $500 and $1000. Generally, they cost about 10% of the price of the real item. There are several videos of serious watch experts getting out their magnifying glasses and finding it hard to tell the difference.
@@AnthonyLauder Swiss brands absolutely need to have that 1000% market-up in order to have sufficient fund for developing new models in the future. A new set of tools cost millions of dollars, let alone prototyping and hiring designers.
Maybe people should wonder when a Chinese fake costing 25$ is almost as nice as an original one, that maybe the original one is terribly overpriced. Perhaps not the person who buys a cheap fake is being ripped off but the one who is buying the original...
*Be Careful when buying a watch* yea because when some random guy offers a rolex to you for 50 bucks .. you gotta say "hm.. yea that's a nice deal , i almost paid 35.000 dollars to the other store"

Indistinguishable to common folk, perhaps. But a real watch aficionado can point out the flaws in the fake, aesthetically. When you remove the case back is where the fun begins.
I don't believe in buying fake anything. The brand name on the merchandise should tell what it really is. A watch is not really a Rolex just because the Chinese put the brand name Rolex on it. If somebody buys a Chinese made fake Rolex watch they are not getting a Rolex but they are just getting a Chinese made fake Rolex watch. And if they show that watch to their friends and claim it's a Rolex they are just continuing the lie. Now the Chinese do or can make some very nice watches; but they should just put their own brand names on them. I have some nice Chinese watches that have Chinese brand names on them and I'm proud of those watches they don't pretend to be something that they aren't and they stand on their own merits.
I agree completely. There are some superb quality chinese brand watches in the $100 to $300 range. They are not cheap fakes, with fake logos, but rather excellent value high quality watches with chinese brand names.
No racism here. Watches are watches and people are people. Don't mix them up. If there are no buyers from other parts of the world, they won't make so many fake watches. The Chinese are not culprits. The buyers are as they encourage them to make more. No mention of the white, the black, the yellow, etc., here. All are equal, and some are equally wicked.
Just imagine smb bought a watch for 10k$ and now sees the exact same looking watch sold for 200-300$. The only thing left for consolation is that the movement mechanism of his 10K watch will be still working when he is already a long time dead.
it is not true....original movement mechanism need overhaul every 5 years otherwise they can run with error seconds and even stop them after 7/10 years....this is due to low tolerances of original movement...
whenever you are buying a fake watch go for watches that have design(look) which is not available in any of the unbranded or branded affordable watches. Do not buy anything too fancy as it will surely give it away. Do not buy very plain looking either because whats the point in buying a fake watch just for the name tag without the looks. Go for the watch that is having multiple functional dials. Go for watches with unique designs. I would never go for rolex because it would easily give it away as a fake.
Someone could like Rolex design, and you know, if you buy an homage, the watch community be like 🤮, and if you buy a replica they're going to be like 🤮, "watch community" don't care about you, why should you care about their opinion?

There has got to be an official rolex dealer selling good fake watches in china the whole country is fake they are banging out cheap crap for Europe we are the stupid ones for buying instead of manufacturing like we used too.
You want a good watch in a small budget and tells good time - get a Casio, Seiko, Citizen or a Swatch. You want to show wealth and stand out - Buy a real, premium Swiss made watch. Don't mix them both. You might buy a fake Rolex, but your dress, car, lifestyle can say you are wearing a fake one. Don't look like a cheapo.
They look cheap and fake, why should you buy them?? There are plenty of automatic watches (Seiko, Hamilton etc.) that you can buy at 100/200 $ and look great and have quality movements.
I come across these from time to time in bulk lots and they seem well made, then the hands fall off. I have even seen a fake Cartier with a ronda movement and faceted crystal, it looked really good until the numbers fell off the dial. I always wonder why these guys don't just do their own brand like Sea-Gull or Vostok both cheap watches with tons of style and cult followings.
I bought my first Rolex in 1964. It was expensive but the problem was that it had to be adjusted and serviced. Service was expensive. Then came the real push for Mechanical Timepieces: Electronics. A US $5 wrist watch keeps accurate time than the US $30,000 Rolex. So, Rolex, as an Accurate Time Keeper, lost to Electronics. In 2002, I bought 2 Rolex Watches in Pakistan for piddly sums of US $35 each. They are perfect. I swam, played Tennis and slept wearing them. Yes, they are Automatic: Day Date. I really do not see the difference. I get them serviced, also for piddly sums of US $10, yes, in Pakistan / India / Nigeria.
here something to think about. "“Thanks to current weak Swiss laws, watches produced almost entirely in China can be sold legally under the “Swiss Made” label,” Jean-Daniel Pasche, chairman of the Swiss watch federation (FH), said in a telephone interview." he was referring to Panerai. Reuters report "What puts the Swiss in a "Swiss Made" watch?
These are great if you like the original's design, but not it's exorbitant price. Quality watches are very cheap to produce now with current manufacturing techniques, so price to quality is high in many 'fakes'. It's all down to how much money you're willing to waste.
I was given a fake Breathing Navitimer in late eighties and it is still going, only replaced batteries and straps as they wore out, still accurate to 30 secs a month after thirty years.
The quartz Navitimer is one of the ugliest and least desirable watches that Breitling ever produced. Quartz watches use a crystal that doesn't really degrade so +/- 1sec/day thirty years later is reasonable.
I have seen fakes in recent years that all but Jewelers with lots of Rolex experience believe are real. My local watch repairman has said that ten years ago, he was able to spot a fake from 5 feet away but that in the last couple of years, he's seen some fakes that require him to crack open the case back to see if they're fake.
What are the manufacturing costs of a real Rolex sold at the same price level as a "maxed out Volvo"? When replicas can be had for a buck fifty, aren't watches like a Submariner really a $2,000 watch being sold at a snotty premium? I guess manufacturers like Rolex really caters to those who have more money than sense.
I bought one for £10, do I expect a real one? I wear it for a laugh.it tell the time ok, but you can not open to replace battery , dont be stupid if you pay for £50 and expect a real one.
from what i have heard from the real vs fake videos I've seen on these watches it seems like they are getting really good at making fake watches if they would spend their time and efforts making their own watch company they could go mainstream and get their own watch brand going
i dont understand why they dont just make a brand of their own, i mean they clearly got the skills. origin means nothing to me if a watch is good its good.
If China would strictly forbid producing and selling fake luxury goods (they would be capable of doing so!), the government know there would be a massive number of unemployed people on the streets. As a watchmaker, I prefer the "real" Chinese watches, like Sea-Gull or BWAF. Their quality has tremendousely improved over the past decades and is on par with Swiss watches like Tissot or Longines. No need to buy a fake watch. But beware: quality has it´s price. Also in China.
Dane Hardinge the copies atleast have solid endlinks and sometimes sapphire crystals. Really like Orient and Seiko but they are overpriced for the quality.
True, but the copies can be quite good. I’ve read accounts of people having one work for ten or more years. Additionally, the lower end Asia 2813 movements keep excellent time and cost only about $15 for a replacement movement. So really a copy can usually last just as long as a gen seiko, and on the same or a lower budget, as well.
This is why we need to stop trade with China. You can't trust anything they sell. They'll replicate your grandma. Everything is fake. Phones, planes, screws, everything! !

There are Omegas sold by 3 sellers on EBay (I am sure there are more sellers and on other lesser known auction websites). They are always listed as 1970's Seamaster or Constellation Omegas. Once one is sold, a week passes, and another one shows up that is almost identical. (Does Korea have that many vintage Omegas of the same types?) They claim to be used from the 70's yet there are no blemishes on the cases - PRISTINE. They claim the crystals have been replaced and internals cleaned (reasonable... maybe). The internals are CLONES to the originals. I mean they are so good it they would fool a jeweler. The Auctions start around $30 (WARNING FLAG!) and usually the final bidder pays $350, $500, $700, $900, or even sometimes $1000 for the watch. Would you start an auction at $30 for what you know is at least a $350 watch? Here is my theory! I think these are being made in North Korea to prop up the regime. This is a Counterfeit that is generating as much money as Counterfeiting money and easier to pass off to the public and around Governments. So, not only are you getting ripped off if you buy one of these FAKE OMEGAS you are supporting Kim Jong-un and Modern Day Concentration Camps.
Don't buy Korean watches off Ebay. Almost all are fake and full price as well. This is why fakes are evil. People sell them as the real deal. Fuck everyone who thinks fakes are ok
i have had a rado for 13 years . ceramic band , saphire crystal never had a problem . even my watchman thought it was real and he has been doing the job for 43 years . the only difference between the real one and the fake is the movement .
Many years ago when I was much younger I bought a fake Rolex in Egypt. Even though it was fake it kept great time and apart from battery changes I never had a problem with it. I had it a few years then my dad wanted it and he had it for many years. They may be fake but they do last along time.
Things must have changed and they updated their game. It use to be the fake stuff would go bad pretty quickly compared to the real brand and also if a brand was water proof the fake wasn't. So all aspects weren't duplicated.
actually itis quite amazing how they can produce such a wide variety of fakes for that price, if you pay 40.000,- Euro for a Patek you are ripped off kind off
I personally don't own any replicas but I do have homage watches and one of my favorite homage is the steinhart 42mm.I love the design and look of many luxury watches but wouldn't mind a homage version with seiko or miyota or a cheap Swiss movement, as long I was getting the look (never been into the movements) I'm a car guy too , now that is something I want to the inside (engine performance) to be top notch and would pay accordingly.
I consider to get a Rolex homage, but would never get a fake. A good fake is still a significant amount of money, but with no warranty. And what reputable watchmaker want to service it? But the strongest argument not to get a fake watch is that I don't want to be a lyer, and support criminal industry. Rolex and other luxuary brands may be overpriced, but for the same price as a good fake model I rather get a homage or a high quality swiss watch.
The replica watches that cost between 400 and 600 US, are so good, not even AD's can tell the difference. They have real ETA movements (you'd be surprised how many luxury watch brands use modified or decorated ETA movements - Panerai, Tag heuer), and built out of the same material as an OG, within scope of course... Titanium, ceramic, 316 steel. So how do 95% of people afford a clone of an original at cost price (90% of a luxury watch's price is brand hype).. Buy a superclone. They call them 1:1 I believe.
You are right...many watches under and sometimes over 5k $ use ETA movements. However, for 4-600 $ you can get a Hamilton or a Steinhart running the ETA Elaborè grade movements that are +/- 4 secs per day, sometimes even less. Why would you spend it on a fake watch? P.s Panerai WAS using ETA movements...now they have gone up with full in-house movements.
Tbh I had many fake watches, never had a problem with any. Works just fine for regular use. Obviously, they won't be as precise or as high quality as the real ones. But heck if I lose one, or anything, I wouldn't mind since it was cheap. But if I lost an original one... that's another story.
Fuck all those who saying never buy cheap watches... People are free to buy what they like. Fake or original... What's wrong with that ? If there's a demand, then there's a supply... This is the same rule as narcotics... No one can stop this.... So, the ones who have to think about it are original brands... They can produce low quality watches for supplying the demand in the same price... All expensive watch companies have to choose quality rather than brand i think... Or beginning to produce dildos or lipsticks to sell in the same brand and low price...

Itd be ok if they came up with their own brand name , but new watch buyers could be duped into buying fake cheap watch. So yea problem isn't with cheap watch but fake ones that are cheap. Demand is coming from false advertising.
Lol fakes and originals look the exact same. No one cares what you wear. Ain't nobody gonna test your watch if it's authentic or not. Wannabe rich and trust fund kids will get offended
This is an absolutely ridiculous view. Fakes and originals do not look the same! Replica watches are utterly retarded and I'll explain why. Cheap replicas are dog shit quality with crappy $9 Chinese movements that have beat errors in excess of 5 milliseconds, wildly differing amplitudes and usually gain or lose at least 80-100 seconds a day. They're worthless watches that can't even tell the time properly. For not much more money than a crappy Rolex Submariner fake, you could get a Submariner homage Invicta Pro Diver with an extremely accurate 21,600 bph Seiko movement that losses or gains only 2 seconds a day. The watch is far better quality than a fake costing a similar amount. Why buy a fake when you can buy something actually decent and real?! A close friend has a fake Breitling and although I'd never tell him, it's the most embarrassing piece of shit I've ever seen in my life. The printing on the dial is garbage and smudged, the hour makers are all different sizes, the bracelet is the flimsiest piece of crap imaginable and it keeps horrible time - it was 4 seconds out after just 1 hour. The only guarantee of even half decent quality and time keeping is when replicas use ETA valjoux movements or something similar. Then you're spending several hundred dollars on a replica watch that has no warranty when you could get a really nice Hamilton or Tissot for the same amount of money.
@@Jimbo8012 hHHahhahahaha imagine recommending Tissot over a rep Tissot watches have TERRIBLE quality control and build quality compared to the reps you can get for the price (or an original Chinese watch like a Lobinni or Seagull).
Why would you wish them misfortune just because they bought something you disapprove of? Your comment smacks of envy.
I ordered an automatic all stainless steel Rolex from China 3 Years ago. It looked so real that a jeweler couldn't tell it was fake without taking the back off. I paid $38 USD. Fast forward 3 years later it has not changed color at all and it still works!
I have the feeling they can actually produce sonething 100% if they want to...
They can but its too expensive
@@eddyla00 There are already near perfect fakes, that cost between $500 and $1000. Generally, they cost about 10% of the price of the real item. There are several videos of serious watch experts getting out their magnifying glasses and finding it hard to tell the difference.
@@AnthonyLauder Swiss brands absolutely need to have that 1000% market-up in order to have sufficient fund for developing new models in the future. A new set of tools cost millions of dollars, let alone prototyping and hiring designers.

If I ever go there I think I'd have to buy a fake to test before putting lots of money into the real thing!

Does the watch keep time? That's the true purpose of a watch. Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
but if they are becoming more prolific and harder to identify wouldn't that make you want tel buy a fake cheap one on purpose...?
If a fake watch for $300 is almost indistinguishable from a $10,000 Real Rolex, is the Rolex really worth $10K?
I agree they can make quality watches they should invest in branding
I agree completely. There are some superb quality chinese brand watches in the $100 to $300 range. They are not cheap fakes, with fake logos, but rather excellent value high quality watches with chinese brand names.
All watches are real, only the brands are fakes.
The only thing left for consolation is that the movement mechanism of his 10K watch will be still working when he is already a long time dead.
except if is gold or with diamonds..
so he is left with precious materials
it is not true....original movement mechanism need overhaul every 5 years otherwise they can run with error seconds and even stop them after 7/10 years....this is due to low tolerances of original movement...
whenever you are buying a fake watch go for watches that have design(look) which is not available in any of the unbranded or branded affordable watches.

You want a good watch in a small budget and tells good time - get a Casio, Seiko, Citizen or a Swatch.
You want to show wealth and stand out - Buy a real, premium Swiss made watch.

You might buy a fake Rolex, but your dress, car, lifestyle can say you are wearing a fake one.
Don't look like a cheapo.
Akhil Chandra very well said!
Indeed, an original Eco-drive Citizen is enough for me.
Don't get anything fake, get the replicas as they are graded quality.
All of these watches look extremely crappy. Decent replicas exist, but you'll pay between $300/400 for them.
If watches weren't so over priced, they wouldn't be worth faking.
They even counterfeit Seiko, Citizen, Bulova watches.
When they make a watch that's a copy, well not so bad, but when they put a brand name on it then it's a counterfeit and thats really bad.
here something to think about.
"“Thanks to current weak Swiss laws, watches produced almost entirely in China can be sold legally under the “Swiss Made” label,” Jean-Daniel Pasche, chairman of the Swiss watch federation (FH), said in a telephone interview."
he was referring to Panerai.

I guess manufacturers like Rolex really caters to those who have more money than sense.

True, but the copies can be quite good. I’ve read accounts of people having one work for ten or more years. Additionally, the lower end Asia 2813 movements keep excellent time and cost only about $15 for a replacement movement.
How do you know they come from North Korea or is this a hypothetical?

i have had a rado for 13 years . ceramic band , saphire crystal never had a problem . even my watchman thought it was real and he has been doing the job for 43 years . the only difference between the real one and the fake is the movement .

That’s a thing, rolex don’t use batteries😂
How come a Rolex use battery?
actually itis quite amazing how they can produce such a wide variety of fakes for that price, if you pay 40.000,- Euro for a Patek you are ripped off kind off
If you went to China in search of original Rolex, then one needs to kick your ass first ...
I agree

@@Jimbo8012 hHHahhahahaha imagine recommending Tissot over a rep
Tissot watches have TERRIBLE quality control and build quality compared to the reps you can get for the price (or an original Chinese watch like a Lobinni or Seagull). When you buy a good rep (which I can guarantee you have never held in your hand), you are sent macro photography of every angle of the watch (called QC pictures) and you accept the watch to be shipped only if you have no objections with the quality control - dial/indices/bezel alignment, solid end links fitting, rehaut alignment, printing..... Much better system than traditional buying
