Please consider the health & safety of your wife and daughter by not supporting Hobby Lobby. Access to birth control is a real and serious issue in 2021 in the US. I love your content but Hobby Lobby is not worthy of your support or attention.
As someone who has worked at Hobby Lobby here are my tips: 1) if it's not on sale one week, come back the next week and 9 times out of 10 it'll be on sale. 2) nothing is scanned, everything is manually typed in so pay attention and give your cashier a friendly reminder if they miss something that's on sale that week. Trust me, there's a lot to try and remember when you're typing stuff in. 3) seasonal stuff will continue to be reduced up until the holiday and then even more afterwards. But once it's gone it's gone. So if you really love something don't wait too long.
As someone else who currently works at hobby lobby I’ve never been told we price match which is the first thing he said. Did they do that when you worked there?
As an employee of Hobby Lobby i 100% agree. Also adding to that: read the sale signs and every small word on there because it can and will catch you in a loop
I love a deal as much as the next guy but let’s also remember that we need to support our local ‘brick and mortar’ stores instead of amazon-like sites if you’re like me and enjoy browsing in an actual store. I’d like to continue to have an actual store to walk into and browse in and if we don’t support our local stores they will go away. Also remember that places such as HL employ your neighbors that have life expenses so shopping at your local stores also support your local community as a whole.
You do realize that EVERYTHING sold at Hobby Lobby is made in China..... Why don't we make things in THIS COUNTRY, by AMERICANS, and then SOLD BY AMERICANS...... Or does that just sound "too patriotic" to support the country we live in? Instead of supporting China manufacturing.
HL employee here: WE DO NOT PRICE MATCH! Nor do we take competitor coupons. I have worked there for well over a year and we have never had such a policy (at least at the store I work at).
Directly from the HL website “ We do honor competitors’ ads in-store if a specific price is listed and we stock the exact same item. However, we do not honor competitors’ "percent off" ads or coupons. We exclude all Holiday door buster ads, Cricut, Silhouette, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Simplicity & McCall's patterns, clearance, and closeout items from this policy. Sorry, competitors’ ads are not honored online.”
I have coded stores for not price matching. They absolutely do as someone who works in corporate they do and it will go against the stores. The item can't be on sale or Amazon but if it's joanns or Michael's then yes it needs to be honored
I didnt know about the coupon until after i was in line last week; however, I bought a trimmer that was $20 less at HL than Michaels and Joann even with their coupons. Also idk about the other stores but the ones near me mark down the prices lower than the printed price on the product. Not an orange reduction tag but a regular price tag. They also take the sales on that price tag and not the price printed on the product.
As someone who currently works for hobby lobby sometimes we won’t even price match our own website. Like for ex. Fabrics. Online one can say $7.99 but I store it’ll be $9.99. We often won’t price match due to it being harder to get stuff in store.
1. Christmas goes on sale in like September. 2. Wedding rentals no longer exist. 3. The red tag items still in their home location are just because the department hasn't been reset with new merchandise yet. 4. The sale rotation is every other week for the whole store. If it goes on sale, it goes on sale every other week. Bonus: sale is not the same as markdowns. 5. Mini means mini. Why would you expect mini to be full size? 6. There is no coupon. 7. To get the school/church discount, the organization must pay directly. So you have to pay with a school or church check or card.
You obviously work there, or like me, used to work there and still keep in touch. Thank you for saying the things I was thinking. The only thing you left out is that if you bought a bunch of something and return it in store, don’t be surprised if you get a dirty look. The department mgr will get in trouble with the DM and store mgr for having what you returned on their shelf. Please avoid this if possible 🤷♀️
The tiny tongs are fantastic. We always host small and large get togethers at our house. We find that the tongs are large enough for hors d’oeuvres and smaller portioned items. THEY ARE FANTASTIC!
It is called a special order and it has to be ordered through that store. It is added to their weekly order and needs to be a regular carried item. Very few seasonal items are orderable at store level.
It's called a rain check, my husband and I bought some bows for our wedding 9 years ago and we had to get a rain check to order some more before we got married.
We no longer do wedding rentals, price match, or coupons. The school, teacher, and Church discount requires valid id, and paying with school/church credit card/check. No store should be putting sale signs out while customers are in store that is a big no no
At michels we got in at 4am and were expected to have all displays and signs out. Everything had to be done by opening. Hobby Lobby gives me OCD. Hate their beads, flowers, and all the home nicknack junk. It's so poorly organized, and cluttered.
@@RainyRunningRiver that's why I don't shop at Michael's. Everytime I go in there it looks like a crappy garage sale. I can never find anything in the place it's supposed to be and half the time there is very little or broken products on the shelves. The stores have a sour musty smell that slaps you in the face when you walk in. Not to mention their stupid high prices on practically everything. I've been to many different Michael's in my life and I've had practically the same experience everytime. I do agree that hobby lobby tends to have a lot of nick nack stuff, but I'd rather make my way through it, than shop in a place that resembles a thrift store complete with rude employees.
I just happened on your video….best thing about your video you get right to the subject matter, you’re very concise and to the point and not leading on for 25 minutes before you find out what the big deal is (which you then find out isn’t that big of a deal) …so thank you for all the great information!
I love hobby lobby. It's like my drug .I have shopped at Michael's and Johanns. Neither one compares to hobby lobby. Over the past year I have bought sooooo much furniture and wall decor from them and I'm not finished yet lol. Thanks so much and see you at hobby lobby
Up to date tips from an employee: 1. The sales are on a bi-weekly rotation. Take a screenshot/flyer of a Wall Decor and then a Table Decor week, and you have all the sales for all basic departments. Jewelry is the only department basic department with non biweekly sales. 2. Seasonal sales start at 40% almost by default. The week of (early November for Christmas) it goes to 50%. The day after, it goes 66%, 75%, 90%. 3. February through August is reset season. Every month, a few departments are picked for a reset, and many SKUs will be marked as deleted, marked with an orange sticker, and moved to clearance. 4. The 40% off coupon was discontinued company-wide in March 2021. Any coupon code you see on a third party website is fake, or an expired code. 5. The price adjustment tip in the video is true. If you buy table decor one week, and the next week you notice it's on sale now, you 100% can come into the store and do a price adjustment. Bring the receipt or card used for the purchase. 6. In seasonal, when you see something you like, get it. A SKU will usually only arrive in bulk at one time, and it will not be sent to the store again. It's very likely that if you wait 2 weeks, it may be gone, especially closer to the holiday. 7. Do your Christmas shopping in the first two weeks of November when Christmas goes 50% off. The most amount of product will be on the shelf, and you'll get the 50%.
Man it doesn't matter what you're talking about or what you're trying to educate us on your enthusiasm the second I see that I'm getting ready to watch one of your UA-cam's makes me smile and it takes a horrible day and turns it into gravy thank you so much for everything that you educate us with keep up the great job
As an employee, I can only say that since we got rid of the 40% coupon, we no longer can tell if things are going to be on sale like they used to. We are always constantly surprised by the sales they put up. As for some of this information, I have not really come across it while working for close to a year.
Thank you for this positive video for Hobby Lobby. I used to work for them and have always called it my "fun job". I loved the store, the management and the fellow employees.
I love your channel ! As a huge fan of Hobby Lobby I don't agree that they are pricey in comparison to Michael's or Joann's. That hasn't been my experience. Anyone who feels that way needs to watch this video. So thank you 👍
Also, check out the Clearance section for deals! And, if you have an item at full price with some slight damage (scuff marks, etc.), ask the cashier nicely for a discount. I got a 10% once; doesn't hurt to ask. YES - as another poster said - they are sold out of decorations a week before Christmas, and putting up New Year's décor. Love your enthusiasm!
I worked there for almost 4 years as a department lead in Art, Home Decor and Floral... I was and will always be a HL girl and Addict lol.... but sadly they no longer offer the coupons. I do not know if this is just because of the pandemic and someday they will bring it back, but they have decided to no longer use them. It is heartbreaking because that really was the best way to shop there.
5:15 I work for Hobby Lobby at store 190, and yes. That is how we do discounts. And I just looked up about that lawsuit, and that was back in 2017, which we won agsinst. So that lawsuit that is supposedly happening is false. Its perfectly fine due to the fact that you get a 30% chunk taken off of the original price is fine.
Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby go up around July and they're pretty much cleared off the shelves sometimes by October. Don't bother waiting for a restock because they're already preparing for New Years Eve. Crazy but true (at least at my neighborhood store).
That happens in my town to, it was annoying but I got used to it. It sort of helps me start Christmas shopping early because Im a last minute shopper lol 😆
The “double ad” only applies to items that have the next weeks ad sign up next to the product. You can occasionally also get a old discount on Monday morning if they accidentally left a sign up from the previous week.
You forgot the clearance section. If you are handy you can fix the product if it is box. They have the broke item with the product. These sections are 90% off. This will also have any holiday items they find in the back room. Being a crafter I have found some great items for holidays that have passed. Don’t forget to look for that section. They also have one in the yarn and material section.
yes I love Hobby Lobby when I get a chance to go there my son will take me when he Is around. Hi Christina I can't believe I found you I have been wondering where U have been It's been almost a yr now and here I see a comment I hope U see this message I haven't been able to reach u. If u see this please email me I don't have the same phone number anymore.
I used to work there however they no longer do wedding rentals, no more coupons, when the new merchandise enters the store the reduced merchandise goes to the clearance wall and will get a second sometimes third clearance reduction. For things on sale if it’s not on sale one week go back there next week it will be. The sale tags on furniture has the original price and then the reduced price under it. Most custom frames are 50% off and regular frames go on sale at 50% when it’s that week as well as half the store. My advice go online to the hobby lobby website on Sundays as it will let you know what’s on sale for that week.
For fabriholics: HL fabrics seem to be 30% off every other week. However, be aware that they have clearance bins with holiday and dc'd textiles at significantly reduced prices. I scored a "Valentines Day" print, which was a red and pink floral, not really Valentines Day themed, for 80 cents a yard. ALSO, after these fabrics are cut at the counter, they do not always get placed back in the clearance section. but in the regular fabrics section. So do a walkthrough looking for the red clearance stickers on the full price shelves.
Be careful. Since they don’t scan or have sales programmed into register it’s up to the cashier to know the correct discounts. At times I’ve not received the discount or it was keyed incorrectly.
Yes!!! This has happened to me plus it takes them forever to check you out because they have to look up everything. I always feel so bad for the cashier and try to organize my items at checkout by the discount percentage.
@@JasmineBrii Hi Jasmine thank you for the feedback. It may be a newer employee but I am very patient with them and kind because the process is not their fault. I love HB lol so I am there often.
Yup. Used to happen to me as well. Now I take a photo of every sale sign with my phone if I'm buying a sale item and I keep all sale items separate in my cart and have them rung up first...and then watch the little black price display since you can see the original price and then see it change to the sale price. I just had to correct them last week on an item. I actually feel bad the cashier has to just memorize the sales or constantly look them up instead of then just being already in the system.
The mini kitchen tools are great for children who love to play cook. I bought some for my young granddaughter and she even likes to use them when helping her Mom or Dad bake or cook.
Been Shopping at Hobby Lobby for years, but some tips I didn't know. Haven't been in a while b/c my sister lived for Hobby Lobby and she is now deceased and I think of her. But you have given my interest back. Thank you!
As for the price adjustments, you need to bring in everything you bought from that receipt, back into the store, with the way our receipts work. So do seperate transactions with things that wont need price adjusted, with the things that will need price adjusted
If you work at a HL and your CSM is telling you that they don’t price match its because it’s complicated and they just are probably not trying to deal with it. HL WILL price match but only for an advertised sale price for the exact same item. Not a everyday non sale price and not for a percentage off. I.e. Walmart has a advertised sale for a cricut explore air 3 for 149.99 will be matched. A 50% off all cricut products sale will not be matched.
Thank you again matt. Very helpful info today. Please go slower when panning items. not so I can see the products better but because as I watch the items go by at a "dizzying" rate, I get so dizzy I have to face the phone away.
We bought patio furniture at Lowes on clearance this past summer. Definitely wait for clearance to buy furniture. They still had a big selection when we purchased.
Thank you! I love Hobby Lobby but I’m not crazy about the prices. Last time I went (Houston area) they said they no longer have the 40% off coupons. Love your videos!
I think Hobby Lobby must be heaven's waiting room. I love that store., but not the prices. I usually go there if I can't find something anywhere else. They have such a variety of things.
I worked at Hobby Lobby before the pandemic shut everything down. Half of what he said is not right. Things are not marked down for clearance that often and maybe once a month they get marked lower. A lot of what he showed was Spring items. Those small utensils...I own many...they are great for condiments and taco nights. I love them. The 14 day price adjustment for sales is basically buy it at full price (things do sell out) bring it back the following week, return it and purchase it again at the sale price. You cannot shop Saturday evening for the following weeks sales because no signage or advertising goes up until after the store closes on Saturday. Holiday decor starts to go on sale at 40% off (ex. Christmas) after Thanksgiving and then gets marked off 50%. There's a lot of paper on those rolls of wrapping paper. It's a good deal. One more thing they do price match but it must be the same exact product and company. Doesn't happen too often because Hobby Lobby produces much of their own stuff under their own name which you won't find in any other craft store. Most of their yarn and paper products are their own.
I never used to be a big fan of Hobby Lobby until I went there for fabric once. I'd been to Joann's prior - there was never an associate available to help me, they were rude etc. Then when I was in Hobby Lobby to look at their fabric I had the best experience. The associate was VERY helpful and friendly, did all the math for me for how much I was going to need for my project (without me even asking her to). Now when I need fabric I go to Hobby Lobby first.
That is literally the opposite of any Hobby Lobby store I've ever been in. Not only do they have about 1/4 Of the amount of fabric as JoAnns, but there is never anyone working in that department. There is a bell you can ring, but if anyone does show up it will be at least 10 minutes of waiting for them. And then they are so irritated that they had to come over to help you that they don't cut the fabric correctly and you end up with lengths that are several inches shorter at the end than it is in the middle. Never again. I am finished with fabric shopping at Hobby Lobby. Only JoAnns from here on.
I hardly ever buy fabric from Hobby Lobby cause even though their fabric is 30% off all the time, the fabric is over priced to recoup the 30% off!. Joann's always has fabric on sale and a much better selection, plus some weeks you can apply a coupon for entire purchase.
Funny.. I have the WORST experiences in the fabric department at my Hobby Lobby. And their selection is crap! I just want Hancock Fabrics back. I hate so much about Hobby Lobby. I go there only because I have to. I'll go in with crafts & art I plain on doing then bam.... they already have what I'm planning to make manufactured in China there ready to go on sale. It just irritates me. Hobby Lobby is where creativity goes to die. Give people a chance to be creative. Stop making everything for them & then marking up the prices just to turn around & put them on sale.
So thankful I just found your channel! THANK YOU for all of your work and trying to make things cheaper or ways to find the best opportunities for us shoppers! Props to you sir, just amazing!
Love the video! Here is my Hobby Lobby tip, and I do love shopping at this store, BUT never buy furniture from Hobby Lobby. It is very flimsy and not worth the price.
I'm addicted to your videos now. Thanks alot. 😊 You have that thing about you like movie stars. You were born to do this. You come of so genuine. Keep doing you!
My oldest daughter is into art and painting and that's what she wanted for her Birthday and Christmas was painting supplies so we hit hobby lobby about a month before Christmas and scored BOGO and 50% off on almost everything in the store. It was insane the deals they were having.
If you have a dds discount, they have really cheap art stuff. I bought my son acrylic paints, canvas, paint brushes etc for Christmas and I could not believe how little I paid 👍🏼
I don't know if you have ever done a video on deals at Best Buy, but that might be interesting. It seems pretty expensive to what I can find online but I imagine there are some tricks to shopping there that I don't know about
Price match with Best Buy. They almost use everyone. Its also usually in stock because not many people know to price match. So if you see a camera go on sale at Walmart/ Amazon regular $300 down to $100 and Best Buy it’s $350, if you show them proof they will take it to $100. Deals like that usually go extremely fast at Walmart/ Amazon/ Target etc so Best Buy is my go to.
You are adorable! I bet your wife is too! Thanks for doing all of the footwork to bring these great, informative videos to us. Especially appreciate the way you present your content. You always seem enthused about what you are telling us and I enjoy your sense of humor....BTW - thanks for bringing those costume deals to my attention... I think my husband might enjoy one of those too....maybe a pirate.... arrr de arrr!
Dude I work at Hobby Lobby and they have told us that we're not allowed to price match any items even if you bring in proof and it's not something that's already on sale or would ever be on sale. I have had managers and my district manager say that we don't do it
If you still get a phone book ( yellow pages) there are coupons (several pages) for hobby lobby but you can only use 1 per 1 item per trip...and they do not expire.
Something I learned: the cashier discounts the items at register. It doesn't discount automatically. YOU have to know what's on sale in case the cashier misses it. 😒
I know. I hate that Shady, shady. I've asked on multiple occasions why does the company not have the computer do it automatically for them. They always shrug their shoulders. I always have to section off my cart according to the discounts and tell the cashier what the sale price is. Pain in the butt.
yes the company is very old school. I was surprised when I first started. However most of the time the cashier will/should know the sales especially if its towards the end of the week The seasonal items on the other hand, do automatically put the discount when put in. However it never hurts to remind them or ask if something is on sale.
So maybe browse during the week, and add things to your cart, then take advantage of the sale prices and free shipping offer on Saturday night before it ends? That's what I'd do if I was shopping online like that. I like to try to get the most for my money. Lol
I like the mini tongs, great for picking up pickles, olives, small veggies, etc on relish trays! Yes many of those minis are really small but they have their uses if you think outside the box!
BTW about half of these "hacks" are not true of every store. For example, my store does not accept competitor's pricing, and we don't put the new signs up for next week until after close.
As an employee, probably the only good advice is returning an online order in store, and then coming back to the store to get a refund for a full priced item when it is half off. But only do that if it was a mistake to buy it full price, don’t do it on purpose because the better strategy is to ask your local store when there truck day is and then come a day later once everything is restocked. And we can also do rain checks which specifically orders certain items to our store for you to pick up and buy, and depending on if you ordered it on a discount week it will keep its discount for the next week when it arrives.
When you go camping in a pop up or camper you need to buy mini items that still work and fit into your limited space. I have purchased the mini items from hobby lobby and IKEA. As you are aware IKEA sells mini items for small living spaces. Hobby lobby is doing the same with the mini products they offer, plus they have an array of colors to choose from to match your preferences.
Have you considered doing a Harbor Freight video. Coupons, vs. New membership. They built their customer base on Coupons then stopped that program very abruptly.
I would love to see a video of popular stores that price adjust after purchase. I asked Walmart this information and the girl said I would have to go stand in a long line at customer service to find out the answer about adjustments. 💜
Yes, he should make a video of him "using" this service at Hobby Lobby. He could demo how it is actually done. But don't let the store know you are videoing the transaction. I can hardly wait to see this.
Meh, as a former employee that can vary on the “discount” most people want to use coupons on the door busters and that is simply a no go. The Doorbusters also bring in crowds which makes many people grumpy in the more cramped areas of the stores
I thought everyone knew that if it isn’t on sale you need to wait until at least the next week! I feel the prices are way better than JoAnn’s! Most of there decor prices I don’t think anyone would pay that price! It seems like it is harder to qualify to use coupons since Covid if you are a customer going inside Joann’s! I used to go to Michaels a lot but I spent too much money!!😁 Thank you for you do!!
The mini tongs are geared toward college students but I love them! I love Hobby Lobby. They have so much on sale so often. They also offer free shipping and handling a lot! They revamped their entire store. They don’t have the 40% off coupon anymore. I was bummed at first. Ive shopped there a few times since. Their prices are lower than ever! Maybe you want to see how things have changed? I liked your video! Good job! Now I have plans for Saturday night! Haha!
I already figured out the schedule at my local Hobby Lobby. As an avid yarn lover I found that every other week the yarn was 30% off, and that includes all the yarn. I almost never shop for yarn any other week, unless it's during their annual super clearance.
@@mailee8076 another tip is to be a part of crochet or knit pages on Facebook or other Hobby Lobby related pages because they usually post about the super clearance sales.
As a hob lob employee, 1 and 4 aren't true unless it depends on the store I haven't heard of these, 6 probably depends on if the signs for the next week are being put up while the store is open on that Saturday its definitely not guarenteed, 10 is a very very good tip, all the bonus tips are true as far as I know
He mentioned the sale schedule for some items but not the one in particular that I was looking for. Do you by chance know the sale schedule for happy planners and happy planner accessories?
@@mjbrown3943 I've never actually heard of those products but how hob lob sales work is one set of items is on sale one week and another set the other week and that set never changes. No items are added nor taken away from those sale weeks. There isn't special sales unless it's a seasonal sale because obviously those change. For that specific item maybe it falls into a category of items (for example at my store we have a sale for boxed model kits regardless of the company or creator on the box) on sale or that product is never on sale which can happen.
@@mjbrown3943 Happy Planner is on sale every other week. The week they aren't on sale is when The Paper Studio is on sale. Which isn't as much stuff as it used to be. They started taking The Paper Studio brand off of a lot of items.
Out of all the big box stores Hobby Lobby is my preferred choice. It really annoys me they discontinued having coupons. Michaels coupons are a joke, Joanne's is the best store for using coupons. I really appreciated this video, learned new shopping secrets!
I live in the Los Angeles county in CA. Our Hobby Lobby’s do not take any coupons from any other stores. I’ve tried. Love everything they sell but it’s kind of expensive unless you get it at a discount. Thank you for this video.
Michaels and JoAnn’s are way more expensive than Hobby Lobby 😂 Jewelry is on an A/B schedule as well as majority of their items that go on sale. Like fabric, ribbon, floral, stickers etc. just about everything that goes on sale.
Yeah I was going to ask about the paper rafting and fine arts stuff schedule. I NEVER buy unless it’s on “ sale”. I’m really disappointed in Michael’s and have stopped shopping there. They have devoted their paper crafting area to the electronic cutting machines, Cricut, and almost stopped selling dies, stamps, embossing folders, and Tim Holtz and some of their big name designers items. And my local Joanne’s is just pathetic, I’m not sure why they even keep anything but the sewing and fabric section open! There is hardly anything in the rest of the store. I end up ordering on,one if there’s a decent sale. So if I need an item, I order it from somewhere online..... It’s sad the local stores are doing this...
@@teresahiggs4896 JoAnn’s has really gone down hill! It’s a joke and the coupons are awesome now. Most of their stuff is stupid expensive too. It’s been a month or two since I’ve gone it. I started going to Michaels more recently but they are so expensive if it’s not on sale. Amazon is starting to get a lot of crafting supplies and are priced really good too. As for HL paper crafting I believe it’s next week. It wasn’t online when I went yesterday but was on sale last Saturday when I went. In the app you can check the add. Fine art, I’m not sure as I don’t really buy any fine art supplies. I have noticed prices dropping at Hobby Lobby. I’ve bought items with no price tags (not the red Clarence stickers) with a lower price sticker on top of the original.
updated 2024 from a current hobby lobby employee. 1. ALWAYS READ THE ENTIRE SIGN 2. we no longer accept coupons 3. sales change over saturday night AFTER the store closes 4. seasonal sales usually start a few months before the holiday 5.we no longer price match 6.we manually put in sales and do notnscan please be a little patient 7.sales are not guramteed to have the same a b sale as they love to change sales on us willy nilly 8.price adjustments can happen within the 90 day period if the return window. 9.always buy skmething when you see it as you might not find it next time.
I haven't been to hobby lobby since Christmas season of 2019, but up to the last time I was there, the 40% off coupon was a permanent thing. I used it EVERY TIME I went in the store, and for about 2 years, that was at least twice a month. I didn't know until now that the 40% coupon isnt there anymore 😔
Has ANYONE recently told YOU.. YOU R THE BEST!!! I'm passing on your video to others. I MEAN WOW!! I Need all the help I can get.. PRAYERS to you and your Family.. I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR INFO!!! 🤗🙏🙏🙏🤟
This is not the whole list. Ok, military/veteran discounts with military ID are: Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware, Mellow Mushroom, Pet Supermarket-on LAST Tues of month, Rack Room Shoes on Tuesdays (check your local store), Advance Auto Parts, American Eagle, AT&T-wireless, Chick-Fil-A varies by location, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Footlocker, Joannes, Michaels, Kohl's on Mondays, Outback Steak House, Pep Boys, free entrance to National Parks for veterans, some gyms offer discounts. Always ask!! Always be ready to show them your ID. I always tip on full price of our food bill b/c I have worked in service industry 😉. Thank you for your and your family's service!
1) I worked at Hobby Lobby for more than a year, and only recently left. I am telling you that Hobby Lobby does not accept competitors coupons, nor do we pricematch. We also recently got rid of the 40% coupon. 4) We stopped doing rentals about a year ago officially. 5) is completely correct- I always waited until two/three weeks after clearance to buy an item. Also, fabric remnants get clearanced on the same schedule. If you see any fabric that’s been dated three months in the past, ask about markdowns on it at the fabric desk. 10) We no longer do this either. I’d recommend asking for a rain check form for an item you want, and if it’s on sale the week you order it, you’ll get the sale, if it isn’t, then the week it comes in it will be- so you’ll get the sale regardless. You can also buy it the week it’s not on sale and return and repurchase it the week it is for the lower price. Everything else was correct, though :)
Love your videos, thank you for your well researched info. I would love to see something done on pet supplies at PetCo and PetSmart. Once again thank you so much as I refuse to pay retail on anything if at all possible!
Every other week is 50% off either floral items, floral ribbon, and sewing ribbon. Find the rhythm and stock up. The “spice things up” comment was hilarious!
I feel so stupid because I was looking every week for ribbon to go on sale and it never was! Then one day I looked a little closer and realized ribbon is considered floral so when floral is on sale, ribbon is too. Duh. I missed so many weeks lol.
@@wendyhammond1894 then what am I looking for? I saw floral on sale this week and realized ribbon ISN’T included in that. So what category is ribbon in? I haven’t seen it actually say “ribbon 50% off” on the ad in weeks.
The "always on sale" is Not accurate these days in HL. They have gotten really greedy.... and when I was in there last week... boy, you could tell the difference....Usually lines are Very long at checkout in Texas.... not any more !!

Good job
Please consider the health & safety of your wife and daughter by not supporting Hobby Lobby. Access to birth control is a real and serious issue in 2021 in the US. I love your content but Hobby Lobby is not worthy of your support or attention.
You are great but Hobby Lobby sucks.

As someone who has worked at Hobby Lobby here are my tips:
1) if it's not on sale one week, come back the next week and 9 times out of 10 it'll be on sale.
Thank you for sharing these tips.. I am an employee at hobby lobby and customers can be too too much sometimes and try to rush the cashiers..
@@gilium1719 hi I’m a current employee at hobby lobby and we do price match as long as the item is still in stock ..
as a past empoyee This is an accurate comment, (saying this since dislikes are gone)
As an employee of Hobby Lobby i 100% agree. Also adding to that: read the sale signs and every small word on there because it can and will catch you in a loop
Hobby Lobby’s new policy is to no longer having the weekly 40% off coupon. An employee told me to let the company know you don’t like the change.
I also was told that at the store here in CA
Hobby Lobby also has a horrible track record for treating diverse people like crap. I tell them this every time I shop somewhere else.
@@rosewhite71 No more 40% here in Texas
@@rosewhite71 How so?
@@rosewhite71 really? I’ve never had an issue. So.....
Thank you for sharing
SOOOO TRUE
Agreed. that’s made by true Americans and not everything made in China🇺🇸
I wish that they did military discounts like Joanna's and Michael's.
I concur with you. Let's keep supporting HL!
The HL in my location said no to everything. I stop shopping at HL if I can get it else where.
I have coded stores for not price matching. They absolutely do as someone who works in corporate they do and it will go against the stores. The item can't be on sale or Amazon but if it's joanns or Michael's then yes it needs to be honored
currently work at hobby lobby and asked the general manager we do not price match.
I'm not happy they discontinued the 40% coupon. I shop there less now. Love your channel. Fun and informative 👍
Agreed ! And they have lost my RESPECT as they have gotten greedy... read my post above if you can !
Yes, totally! Same!
I agree!
Back to Michael’s for me! No coupon....bye bye
I worked at a hobby Lobby as a lead cashier for 4 years and not once did they ever let us do a price match with a competitors coupon
I went in asking for it they looked at me crazy
I think you shoulda made the video. 👍Just sayin
I guess he said they used to have the coupon.
Michaels used to have one, don't know if they still do.

If things are out of stock, you can ask to order it and have it shipped to store and not pay shipping.
It is called a special order and it has to be ordered through that store. It is added to their weekly order and needs to be a regular carried item. Very few seasonal items are orderable at store level.
@@janetb4203 it is actually called a rain check.
It's a raincheck. Make sure if it's on sale when you order it that they write it on the order. That way you get the sale price.
@@loriwagner6299 yes, that’s it!
No store should be putting sale signs out while customers are in store that is a big no no
Is that because of the lawsuit, do you know?
Well the Iowa one does Saturday around 7pm
My store used to sign at about 7pm but one customer ruined and complained because we were super busy and didn't get to sign early like normally would
At michels we got in at 4am and were expected to have all displays and signs out.
Michael's is actually higher than Hobby Lobby, it's just depends what you are getting.
Up to date tips from an employee:

As an employee, I can only say that since we got rid of the 40% coupon, we no longer can tell if things are going to be on sale like they used to. We are always constantly surprised by the sales they put up. As for some of this information, I have not really come across it while working for close to a year.
I would like to see some Xmas corsage, or things that I can make up xmas corsage
Thank you for this positive video for Hobby Lobby. I used to work for them and have always called it my "fun job". I loved the store, the management and the fellow employees.

As a huge fan of Hobby Lobby I don't agree that they are pricey in comparison to Michael's or Joann's. That hasn't been my experience. Anyone who feels that way needs to watch this video. So thank you 👍
I was thinking the same thing
Also, check out the Clearance section for deals! And, if you have an item at full price with some slight damage (scuff marks, etc.), ask the cashier nicely for a discount. I got a 10% once; doesn't hurt to ask. YES - as another poster said - they are sold out of decorations a week before Christmas, and putting up New Year's décor.
Love your enthusiasm!
We didn't change the poster's until after the store closed on Saturday night when I worked there.
We still don't Barbara.
I work here! We don’t either. A bunch of this ain’t true!
We used to change the sale signs before we closed, but that was a few years back.
We're allowed to pull the old signs 15 minutes before we close. Then when we know the store is empty, we put up new signs.
Yeah, we're not allowed to either. I was watching this going, "Where did he hear that?"
I don't think the pandemic has anything to do with it. They just want more money.

I work for Hobby Lobby at store 190, and yes.
Don't restock because there is very little seasonal stuff that can be reordered. There are really only 2 seasons in the store Spring and Christmas.
The good news is that the Christmas items are usually 50% the entire time they're stocked... while they last ;)
Yes it sucks. Hard to find Christmas items you have to jump on in July cuz they won’t restock.
My hobby lobby had their Christmas stuff out by July. It stuck around for a while. Once it hit late October, early November. Everything was gone.
Also when you shop Saturday it has to be an hour before they close. Don’t expect 2/3 hours prior because not all HL locations do that. Disclaimer
The “double ad” only applies to items that have the next weeks ad sign up next to the product. You can occasionally also get a old discount on Monday morning if they accidentally left a sign up from the previous week.
It doesn't happen at all at our store. Signs are pulled at 8 pm when we close. New signs are put up after that.
Yes, my favorite...and 1st aisle I go to!
I always check the clearance sections, both for fabric and yarn, and for crafting and decor items. I've found a few good items there over the years.
yes I love Hobby Lobby when I get a chance to go there my son will take me when he Is around.

Very true. I make a habit to check my receipt now.
YES ! Especially true of sewing patterns .
Thank you!
Sue Wolfe- I shop at HL and never knew they had a price match or a 2 week price adjustment! Thank you for sharing your information with us! 👍
They don’t price match.
Sorry, just going by what Matt said.
@@gregandvalettesmith7988
Curious - do you work for HL?
I’d like to see content on Home Depot vs Lowe’s . Especially on spring and summer items, such as Grills, Patio furniture etc...
Yes yes, me too I need black out curtains from one or the other
We bought patio furniture at Lowes on clearance this past summer. Definitely wait for clearance to buy furniture. They still had a big selection when we purchased.
Hobby lobby employee here, we don't do most of these hacks any more. Wedding rentals, coupon, price matching all of it is no longer available

Love your videos!
I think Hobby Lobby must be heaven's waiting room. I love that store., but not the prices. I usually go there if I can't find something anywhere else. They have such a variety of things.
Not So Secret 11: The Deal Guy is our retail hero.
Their Christmas decor is already 50% off.
Please read my note about how Hobby Lobby is now managing their fabric dept. BIG disapointment !
I had thr polar opposite experience at HL.
Got so aggravated and just my cart.
So thankful I just found your channel! THANK YOU for all of your work and trying to make things cheaper or ways to find the best opportunities for us shoppers! Props to you sir, just amazing!
Thanks so much Detria!
Love the video! Here is my Hobby Lobby tip, and I do love shopping at this store, BUT never buy furniture from Hobby Lobby. It is very flimsy and not worth the price.

Hobby lobby is a wonderful store! God bless them Always!
I bought my son acrylic paints, canvas, paint brushes etc for Christmas and I could not believe how little I paid 👍🏼
that's because their retail price is so jacked up you would be crazy to buy it when it is full price.
I prefer clearance because it's 75% off!
I agree and it's a plus with the humorous remarks.
Dude I work at Hobby Lobby and they have told us that we're not allowed to price match any items even if you bring in proof and it's not something that's already on sale or would ever be on sale. I have had managers and my district manager say that we don't do it
Also the prices don't go lower a couple days after we price them it takes months for them to go lower 🤦
This definitely needs to be updated… I actually work at hobby lobby & been working here for years
I love your channel & it’s amazing all the deals you let us in on , much appreciated 🙏🏻❤️✌🏼😊
If you still get a phone book ( yellow pages) there are coupons (several pages) for hobby lobby but you can only use 1 per 1 item per trip...and they do not expire.
What’s a phone book? (Just kidding but someone does not know)
Those will only be accepted thru the end of 2021
If you have one most store have to take the paper after its used
Something I learned: the cashier discounts the items at register. It doesn't discount automatically. YOU have to know what's on sale in case the cashier misses it. 😒
That’s for sure!!!!!
I know. I hate that
Shady, shady. I've asked on multiple occasions why does the company not have the computer do it automatically for them. They always shrug their shoulders. I always have to section off my cart according to the discounts and tell the cashier what the sale price is. Pain in the butt.
This happened to me before I realized it. Always remind the cashier!
yes the company is very old school. I was surprised when I first started. However most of the time the cashier will/should know the sales especially if its towards the end of the week The seasonal items on the other hand, do automatically put the discount when put in. However it never hurts to remind them or ask if something is on sale.

You’re welcome 😉 Saturday evening to be specific. ❤️
So maybe browse during the week, and add things to your cart, then take advantage of the sale prices and free shipping offer on Saturday night before it ends? That's what I'd do if I was shopping online like that. I like to try to get the most for my money. Lol
Thank you !!
Those mini tongs would be great for a backpack camp trip.
Those are in the seasonal department with 40% off every day. 😊
Us too!
You didn’t think being forced to close for COVID hurt them ?!?
I would love to see a video of popular stores that price adjust after purchase. I asked Walmart this information and the girl said I would have to go stand in a long line at customer service to find out the answer about adjustments. 💜
This is a fantastic idea for another video!
I was told its too much trouble. A different location had the same product cheaper price.
Yes, he should make a video of him "using" this service at Hobby Lobby. He could demo how it is actually done. But don't let the store know you are videoing the transaction. I can hardly wait to see this.
JoAnn fabric does discount their holiday merch well before the holiday.
When does that annual super clearance usually take place?
@@mailee8076 usually in June
@@lryan1l thanks 😊
@@mailee8076 another tip is to be a part of crochet or knit pages on Facebook or other Hobby Lobby related pages because they usually post about the super clearance sales.
@@skeinofadifferentcolor2090 cool. 😄
My sister and her daughter went to hobby lobby, and they called me to tell me, that they no longer have the 40% coupon offer.
I've noticed that also!
It’s gone!
Their excuse is they want to give their customers “more flexibility.”
WHAAAAAA?
It's true. They did away with the 40% coupon because of the class action lawsuit
That really sucks.
True, I was in there today. :(
I learned that also a month ago when I wanted to purchase something that is never on sale. So disappointing as it was overpriced.
As a hob lob employee, 1 and 4 aren't true unless it depends on the store I haven't heard of these, 6 probably depends on if the signs for the next week are being put up while the store is open on that Saturday its definitely not guarenteed, 10 is a very very good tip, all the bonus tips are true as far as I know
Thank you. I've never been in a Hobby Lobby that would do price match. My sister-in-law found one once. But neither of us have had success again.
My preferred choice too! I spend hours just roaming around there 😁
I live in the Los Angeles county in CA. Our Hobby Lobby’s do not take any coupons from any other stores. I’ve tried. Love everything they sell but it’s kind of expensive unless you get it at a discount. Thank you for this video.
Hobby Lobby is headquartered here & I love it but it’s gotten so expensive! Thanks for the video!
Yes after I received some emails asking for a video on it, I went into the store and WOW it was expensive, so i just knew i had to make a video on it!
@@thedealguy yep! I'm a red tag only shopper only at HL, unless it's a 40 or 50% off sale!
Michaels and JoAnn’s are way more expensive than Hobby Lobby 😂
Jewelry is on an A/B schedule as well as majority of their items that go on sale.
Agree
That’s what I was going to say! Lol. Ive worked for Michael’s and Hobby Lobby and Michael’s is not where I’d go for the deal.
I always thought so too!
Ooo can we get a joann fabric video?! They have good coupons
Omg YAASSSS!!!!! I LOVE JOANNE'S!!!!!!!
I find it hard to find regular price items @ Joann to even use the coupon!
I thought they went out of business. I haven't seen one in years
@@gszeluga I still have 2 in my area
You can never find anyone to help you at Joann's. So many times I have just left my cart with items in it and walked out. I no longer even go there.
updated 2024 from a current hobby lobby employee.
1. ALWAYS READ THE ENTIRE SIGN
2. we no longer accept coupons
3. sales change over saturday night AFTER the store closes
4. seasonal sales usually start a few months before the holiday
5.we no longer price match
6.we manually put in sales and do notnscan please be a little patient
7.sales are not guramteed to have the same a b sale as they love to change sales on us willy nilly
8.price adjustments can happen within the 90 day period if the return window.
9.always buy skmething when you see it as you might not find it next time.
At the HL where I previously worked, you must bring in the items when seeking a price adjustment.
TFS these tips. Really miss their 40% coupons. I think they may lose some traffic because of it but they are still a great store.
I found out a month ago that they stopped the 40% coupon in February 2021. 😥
Hobby Lobby. Yessss
I was thinking the same thing
Has ANYONE recently told YOU.. YOU R THE BEST!!! I'm passing on your video to others. I MEAN WOW!! I Need all the help I can get.. PRAYERS to you and your Family.. I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR INFO!!! 🤗🙏🙏🙏🤟
As a new crafter I really appreciate this video
Can you do videos that may offer the best Military / Veterans discount and maybe also maybe one on first responder discounts??
Great tips as always. HL stopped allowing coupons and no longer put them on their website and in newspapers.
One tip you didn't mention: Each department has its own discount section where items are 90% off.
I watch all of your vlogs and appreciate the vast information that you have shared!
Well researched? Half of this is untrue.
@@txmom2boys ribbon is on sale the opposite week of floral, not at same time.
@@wendyhammond1894 then what am I looking for? I saw floral on sale this week and realized ribbon ISN’T included in that. So what category is ribbon in? I haven’t seen it actually say “ribbon 50% off” on the ad in weeks.
I never thought of Hobby Lobby as being more expensive-- guess the "always on sale" has been working.
I’m always shocked at how much I save at Hobby Lobby. I’ve never found them to be more than JA or Michaels, either.
Me either. I frequent all of them and hobby lobby is the cheapest of the three in my area.
The "always on sale" is Not accurate these days in HL. They have gotten really greedy.... and when I was in there last week... boy, you could tell the difference....Usually lines are Very long at checkout in Texas.... not any more !!
Whenever half the store is half off every other week , I find the prices very reasonable!
Swing support a company that is antifemale
We Love you & the family right back!
Thank you for all of your information. The tiny tongs and utensils are used by most rv'ers. Great for camping.
Aaaahhh this explains why I went to buy fabric a few days ago and for the first time ever it wasn’t 30% off. The gal said it’s every other week now.
It hasn't been on consistent sale since November 2019.
@@stephaniehughes3195 hmmm...at my local HB I would swear it was. The gal working also acted like it just changed but maybe I misunderstood and have been lucky on my shopping days to hit the right week 🤷♀️
Informative and I didn't know many of these, but I have never returned anything to Hobby Lobby, LOL.
Neither have I!! Lol
I got a damn mini salt lamp. Clearance 10 bucks. Should have took it back not worth a damn.
The 40% coupon doesn’t exist anymore they stop. With this coupon late last year!
same here in Arkansas
In SC they stopped February 2021
Company wide the coupon was eliminated on February 28th, 2021. I work for them. It's the same at all stores.
Someone said because of class action lawsuits, they're doing more sales to compensate.
Thank you! Could you do a video on planner supplies? Where they are cheapest, when is the best time for a discount and where, best selection of new releases etc.? Myself and my planner friends would love that!
