I don't understand the thumbs down. If you don't like what you're seeing, just exit the video. Nobody's forcing you to watch. Great job Matt! Always enjoy your tips!
UA-cam created the option for a reason. It helps any UA-camr know whether or not the content they shared is worthwhile. I rarely give a video a thumb down especially for a channel I'm subsribed to. Coincidentally, I gave Matt's video a thumb down today because this is the 2nd video where he oddly knocked Hobby Lobby. This time for not restocking Sunday with obvious sarcasm because they're closed Sunday. Your logic applies perfectly to Matt's sarcastic comment. Instead of sharing that their restocking "truck day" is Friday and that Fridays and Saturdays are great shopping days he chose to put them in a negative light. Unnecessary and odd? I love the channel and his video content but NOT this one.
What’s even crazier is that they don’t count or notify of thumbs down for comments but keep the button there anyway. If they did the videos like they do the comments, it would essentially be only positive counted and only the people who hate it know they gave a thumbs down. It’s almost like a non working elevator button. 😆
Let me address these points that are in accurate, as I am a manager for a Homegoods: 1. We do NOT hold items unpaid for a week. If you do not pay for an item, we will hold it for 2 hours, and if not till the end of the night. If the customer doesn’t show up by then or call, we will put it on the sales floor. We do not put anything in our backroom as it can occur a damage. The only way we hold merchandise is if it’s on a paid hold, where we can hold things paid for for 3 days. The customer can extend it if need be. 2. Some of the things you will get a good price with. If unsure, look it up and buy it else where if you aren’t getting a good deal. I’ve even done that before. 3. Half the time our flow team just moves items around to put new products on the shelf. 4. I have customers ask me all the time when our truck schedules are, and I gladly let them know. But we flow new merchandise every single day. Late afternoon is the best time to go to any Homegoods. 5. Just look in the clearance aisle. Red tags don’t mean damaged. If an item is there for awhile, they will go on a markdown. We won’t always give you an additional discount if it’s marked with a red label. We can tell by the coding on the merchandise. And if it’s a manufacturer defect, we will NOT take a markdown. 6. New merchandise will come in with a date code, for example, this month, and go on a markdown. That means the distribution center had it for too long and just sent it to us, but it’s part of our markdown cycle. Even if it is 3 months out, it won’t always necessarily go on a markdown. So that’s false. 7. The TJX card is beneficial, especially if you shop there all the time. The interest is high, but try and pay it off by the end of the month and you will be fine. Remember, every $200 spent, you get a $10 rewards certificate! 8. Definitely shop early! Halloween is coming in now, so grab that stuff now! Later in the year, you will not see the good stuff anymore. I just started seeing Christmas decorations as well! Eek! 9. Check out the goods app! We have to post a minimum of 5 pictures a day. You will see about 5-10 pictures at your local store. If you see something, call the store and see if its still there! 10. The Q line… checkout line. Impulse buys as I call them! Definitely check it out! Bonus: weekends are crazy at my store! The best time to shop is right when we open, or late at night. It’s usually quiet and all of our new merchandise is put out by then. 7ish/8 is the best. Now, go run to your local Homegoods! We have tons of new merchandise!
@@caroldunk.3481 I was going to say the same thing! I thought I was going crazy! Geeze! How embarrassing to call yourself correcting someone I guess? It is a shame that he didn't get credit for me watching the video twice. Lol 🤣
Also as a former HomeGoods employee. The date of when the item gets put out. He mentioned in the video it's the month and the day. It is actually the month and the year. Markdowns definitely do not always happen every 3 months. It really depends on the management and the time the employees have to get markdowns done. I was in a coordinator of furniture, rugs, lamps and artwork. My section was always the last to get marked down.
Hi Matt I work at HomeGoods and we shortened paid holds to 3 days. The company shortened since we had a lot of people forget about their stuff and we had no room to store it lol
I just love your personality and sense of humor. Thank you for for your hard work. I realize it takes a lot of time and effort to put all your videos together for us!!!! 👏🏻🥰
I work there. You are spot on except we actually tell our customers about the truck days. I recommend shopping the day after to give time to get it out. Also markdowns are done everyday, not one particular day of the week. The 3rd and 4th week of the month usually have more clearance markdowns than the first half of the month. Love love your channel, keep it up I watch all your videos
I work at HomeGoods. I can vouch for everything you’ve said. However, the HomeGoods application isn’t ALWAYS up-to-date and/or accurate. Items tend to only last a week at the most, especially furniture. For future reference, please be considerate towards the employees as the HomeGoods cooperation often leaves stores & employees short handed on resources (like bags etc) as well as huge limitations in what we can/can’t do.

I work at HG and the reason (honestly) that things are put on the shelf in the way they are (3/4 deep) is because we get trucks 2times a week so we are constantly putting out stock and very simply have very very little time to “rotate” items. And stores never price the items, every piece comes in already priced. And, a good smart shopper will ALWAYS know what they are shopping for and will have already done their research in price comparison. If you see something you like, do not wait…..grab it now!!! Stock goes as quickly as it comes in. (I learned that very quickly!)
You are so entertaining and chipper! I was having a sad morning and you brightened it. Thank you so much! I wish you great days and great deals in the future :)
I LOVE HG!! When my father-in-law came for a visit, he and I went to HG to shop (he loves it too!) When we walked in, he asked “So, what’s your system?” Huh? System? Having worked in retail if you shop on the weekend earlier is best close to store opening if possible retail crowds increase after 10 am and in the afternoons
As an employee, for my store anyway, this is absolutely not true, trucks come in full to the brim and unloading one of those in a day would be absolutely impossible. Usually takes 3-5 days at my location.
Thank you Matt! You always bring a wealth of knowledge on stores we frequent! I appreciate it very much. I didn't know about looking at price tags for date and I shop here more than I should! 😂 Keep em coming!

I used to work at Homegoods, and to correct the holding time. In order to hold an item in the stock room you must pay for it first then we would hold for up to three days. Question? When showing the basket born date you say it shows the month and YEAR. In the next sentence, showing the ironing board, you say month and DAY. Does it vary because of department? Great channel!
I’m in home goods a lot but I have to tell you your perspective is very different! In a good way, I will look behind many of the packaging and products that are in my way to see the wall. I have found very unique things I have found things that I take with a grain of salt regarding the price because I do shop in a variety of other places. I just like the attitude and HomeGoods and the randomness of the stuff that’s in there. as someone who works at Homegoods we do not hold items up to a week or in the back room because damages can occur we can only hold items for 2 hours or if you pay for them we can do a pay hold for 3 days
I love your Videos Matt! Great info!!! Thanks for being you!!! The Homegoods near me is connected to Marshalls! I love shopping for Clothes/Shoes for my 3 young children and then I can browse the Homegoods side for decor or organizational items(with out having to leave to go to another store)!!! I also love the snacks/kitchen section as well!!! Great items and great prices!!! Thanks so much for the information I always look forward to your videos!!!!
Hey Matt, thanks so much for this video , they just opened a new Home Goods where I live on you are spot on! The isle you wait to pay for your purchase has wonderful deals and I load up on Pet items for my dogs and extended family pets. Great prices and unique selections are almost always available, I think there strategy is to target shoppers who don’t know or never investigate the pet area of the store. Like your wife I love scouting isles for unique stuff and things for special occasions! As always you ROCK Matt! Do you do comparison shopping on large appliances for best price deals?
They get a shipment truck mon-thurs markdowns starts Monday through the week. And yes. Weekends are the worst days to shop there. Definitely weekday afternoon or morning
I do all markdowns at my homegoods, they are usually scheduled every couple of weeks, with rotating departments and also depending on the amount of inventory we get. Are goal is to clear the shelves of older merchandise to make room for are constant influx of new merchandise (2 to 4 times a week). The date on the tag is the month and year the product comes to the store, so if you see an item a month or more earlier it will most likely be marking down. It also shows us how long ago the item was purchased, if returned.
You will love it, they have really nice things for less money. It feels high end and fancy, without the high price. Some items can be pricey though. Have fun shopping 🛍
What I have found which is very strange to me is here in Vegas we have a lot of TJ Maxx and home goods as one whole store, you will find identical items in TJ Maxx and HomeGoods but they will be marked at different prices and there is no rhyme or reason of which ones are higher. I have found this at different stores like this, I know the same conglomerate owns TJ Maxx, marshals and HomeGoods and others in different areas so why different prices within the same store?
As a former employee of Marshall’s and shopper of all TJX stores, the best trick to shop the weekends is to get there early when the store opens. You encounter less crowds that way.
Hi Matt. How am I so late to this party? I just watched an hour and a half of your videos and enjoyed every second. Love love love your pep and sense of humor. Subscribed and sharing!!
Thank you so much you work so hard for the American people. I learn a lot from you. We have one of these stores down here I've never been in it so now I want to go it's interesting have a great weekend. 🤗👍
Do you call the store or talk to the manager about a time you can come in and film? I’ve noticed all the stores you’ve been in are very well stocked and cleaned up.
Love your seemingly unending excitement! If people aren't motivated by you, then they probably aren't human...or are zombies so keep the apocalypse items handy,
FYI I went to Home Goods. Made a purchase only to find out I didn't have my credit card on me. The associate said I will be unable to get discount if I don't have the card. They won't use your driver's license to look it up like most stores. 🤨 So my advice. Don't forget your card. 🤷🏻♀️
You can always come back with your card and receipt (within 30 days), and credit your original payment, then put purchase on your TJX card to get your points.
Hi, former Marshalls & TJ Maxx employee here, 10% off your first purchase (upon approval) then for every $200 you spend in the family of TJX stores, you get a $10 rewards certificate. So 5% back when you hit that $200 mark.
The App is a great suggestion! Didn’t know it was a channel for current product! I drive over 3 hrs to my nearest stores and I have to pick “one” to go to because of my extensive store list! Thanks again Matt!
I realized that I'm probably late to the party but I have a question. Why would Home Goods put merchandise behind other merchandise? What would be the point? I'm not quite understanding this concept. They need to sell everything in the store so why would you hide a small thing behind a big thing? Just curious! Love your channel Matt!!!
Terrific video as always! I had no idea this store has an app! This will be so helpful as I love the idea of checking inventory ahead of time. Thanks so much for all of your hard work!! 😊
You can ask the employee if any of the items you are purchasing are going to be marked down. They can check it and if so will give you the lower price. I first learned this from a Home Goods employee. They check it by using a hand scanner that prints off the price tags, not the register.

Stresses me out when I see seasonal items sooo early in the year! Such pressure to decorate and spend $. Thanks for telling us about the app!!!
Haha tell me about it! This year is going by way too quickly!
Ehhhhhh Some of us wait for Halloween items each year for our year-round decorations and it can't come soon enough! Lol
Have never been to a Home Goods store but I would like to go after seeing this. Thank you!! ❤❤❤❤
I haven't done a video on that, but I can definitely put one in the pipeline Ellen!
@@thedealguy Thanks Matt you are Million Man of Deals!!!
Thx. Great info. Love HomeGoods & their sister stores❤
Hello.... I couldn't resist saying how are you doing and I hope you are keeping safe and sound by you.? .
Thanks for all the tips! I’m a big fan of Home Goods, love the unique finds they have there and the prices are good too.
Could you make video about shopping for new home or who start to live independently therefore needs do many stuff (kitchen utensils, sofa ,bed,…)
They get a shipment truck mon-thurs markdowns starts Monday through the week. And yes. Weekends are the worst days to shop there. Definitely weekday afternoon or morning
Hey deal guy! I love what you provide! Where should I do my back to school shopping for the kids?
I ordered the LED 2 pack night light lights you recommended for 10 dollars or less on Amazon. Thank You so much!
I'll check it out, thanks Matt. The prices are usually too high for me but I'm willing to give them another try.
Probably the most useful channel I've discovered. Thank you for the effort. I'm hooked
Thanks kay!!
Does the TJX card cover TJ Max and Marshalls too? What did you mean usable at slightly different store?
We just got our first Home Goods store in our town and I can’t wait to go!
It is such a fun store!!
My absolute Fav store everrr! 👍
Hide your credit card!
You will love it, they have really nice things for less money. It feels high end and fancy, without the high price. Some items can be pricey though. Have fun shopping 🛍
@@thedealguy us too!
I love homegoods, thank you for this
Never been to this store - thanks for the intriguing info, i’ll check it out! So upbeat, love it!! You look great in pink. Be bold!
Great tips. Thanks for all the hard work you do. I love your videos.
Matt, I appreciate you!! And the information you share with us!
I LOVE YOUR ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM.
Thank you!!
I have downloaded the HG apps but I don’t see items from my store - and my filter function only have color and price (certainly not store).
I love the Goodwill.
I try to shop Home Goods after 5pm. I've been a couple times and it is very quiet and easy going. 😌
Man great info . I love the looking up the store online first. Thank you keep up the awesome job
Yep...I have used that hold ....it's great
As a former employee of Marshall’s and shopper of all TJX stores, the best trick to shop the weekends is to get there early when the store opens. You encounter less crowds that way.
I always watch your videos first thing in the morning when you post. Great tips, thank you for sharing 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Haven't been in a long time--thanks for these tips!!
Wish we still had a good Home Goods store in the Detroit area. What we do have is small inside a Marshall's and nothing even close to yours!!
Hello.... I couldn't resist saying how are you doing and I hope you are keeping safe and sound by you.? .
I wish this was my Home Goods! What a great selection!! Thanks for doing these great videos!
LOL I felt the same way!!!
You are the best at what you do. Always enjoy your videos!
We have a new Home Goods store in our area, but I haven't checked it out yet. So thanks for the great tips!
Hi Matt. How am I so late to this party? I just watched an hour and a half of your videos and enjoyed every second. Love love love your pep and sense of humor. Subscribed and sharing!!
Thanks Jessica!!
Love your videos. What’s the best economical Crome book to buy.
Matt I love all your tips. Thank you for sharing.
Does scanning products work with other stores or companies like Best Buy,Home Depot etc & besides Walmart & Home Depot??
Thank you so much you work so hard for the American people. I learn a lot from you. We have one of these stores down here I've never been in it so now I want to go it's interesting have a great weekend. 🤗👍
After 3 months- how much is an item typically marked down?
Do you call the store or talk to the manager about a time you can come in and film? I’ve noticed all the stores you’ve been in are very well stocked and cleaned up.
Love your seemingly unending excitement! If people aren't motivated by you, then they probably aren't human...or are zombies so keep the apocalypse items handy,
FYI
I went to Home Goods. Made a purchase only to find out I didn't have my credit card on me. The associate said I will be unable to get discount if I don't have the card. They won't use your driver's license to look it up like most stores. 🤨 So my advice. Don't forget your card. 🤷🏻♀️
You can actually have the TJ Maxx app on your phone and it brings up a digital version of the card. I’ve usedthat many times
You can always come back with your card and receipt (within 30 days), and credit your original payment, then put purchase on your TJX card to get your points.
Is the homegood credit card saving us 5% cash back on every single purchases or just the first purchase?
Hi, former Marshalls & TJ Maxx employee here, 10% off your first purchase (upon approval) then for every $200 you spend in the family of TJX stores, you get a $10 rewards certificate. So 5% back when you hit that $200 mark.
Do these also apply to TJ Maxx? (which is a sister store to Home Goods)
The App is a great suggestion! Didn’t know it was a channel for current product! I drive over 3 hrs to my nearest stores and I have to pick “one” to go to because of my extensive store list! Thanks again Matt!
Glad to have you here Jean!
Thanks for always looking out for us Matt
I love watch your channel! Thanks for all of money saving tips!
Thanks for all the great tips! I’m new to your channel and love it! Your very positive and upbeat!
You are so uplifting and awesome and very informative too
Always enjoy and learn here 👍🙌🏻🙌🏻👊
I realized that I'm probably late to the party but I have a question.
Thank you for sharing all this information! I will definitely head to Home- Goods today !
Thanxs for the insight went to HG for the first time now I can plan how to shop there
You can ask the employee if any of the items you are purchasing are going to be marked down. They can check it and if so will give you the lower price. I first learned this from a Home Goods employee. They check it by using a hand scanner that prints off the price tags, not the register.
