Lars was my inspiration to start playing drums for my very first band and of course I didn’t have TAMA. I had a drum set and the company that made it was called. “crest” it was my dad’s and it was 25 years old and he played jazz on it and I was playing heavy metal and the set was so old that it actually had real skins on it . we quickly figured out that this old set was not made for heavy metal and the lead singer of the band who was about seven years older than the rest of us. @@redrick8900 Congrats on telling everyone here YOU don't know anything about drumming. Like it or not they're telling the truth. Lars can drum but he fucks up more then most beginners. Hell Lars has admitted making mistakes live and on the studio versions which makes you, pretty damn stupid.
[ I don't know why Lars gets so much hate. ] It's because in the early 2000s he was very outspoken against music piracy. The optics of a multi millionaire crying about illegal downloads did not sit well with the fans. That was back then. We now know Lars is a very down to earth person.

If you were to tell teenage me, in the 90s, that I'd be able to see all of Lars' kits in one place on a video, I'd call you a liar. But, here we are. This is one of my favourite UA-cam videos of all time.
Please have one for Mike Portnoy, please!
Been a fan of Tama since before I knew what my favourite drummers played. Keep up the great work so I can buy my son a good kit one day!
Edit: Fixed atrocious spelling. I hate typing on mobile.
The black album kits 89-93 is the best 👌
The Black album kit first appeared on stage in 1990, not 1989

What a cool walk through of the history or his drums. The new kit looks WICKED!
40 years of Tama has given us immense joy and satisfaction out of sral's Drumming.
just bought 2 day tickets to metallica! baby
40 years !!!! I took that ride too man. What an adventure.... and the ride it ain´t over baby !
Damn I could use hours if not days just listening to stories and checking out their stuff.. so cool! Thx for sharing Metallica \m/
Not really a metallica follower but their music and performances are unique and great to watch and listen to. Amazing guy, he doesn't have to do anything due to his wealth, but he carries on for the band, for fans and music in general. Many have come and gone but he is still going. Very intelligent and interesting guy, one of only a few authentic rock stars worth their credit. Nice one Lars.
Definitely cool seeing this, Lars always had such cool kits but his Justice/Black Album kits will always be iconic but I've always loved all of his drum sets and I'm still super stoked to see him and Metallica live in Toronto next year
It's so nice to hear it from Lars first hand, he rarely does these sort of gear videos.
This Video should've been much much longer❤
The one drummer who i will always look up to no matter what.
Only reason i drum now!!
A hero to many drummers!!
Don't be a motley Crue and lie..You forgot to mention CB 700..
I gotta say the newest Yellow kit is awesum the colour scheme of the Black & Yellow for 72 seasons was a great choice
Been waiting for this video since 1999... Thanks for making it possible. Such an inspiration.
Man, i can listen to Lars all day 🤟
You can tell he loves to listen to himself talk as well
Great interview. Lars will always be known as being an innovator who inspired so many other drummers and players! Thanks for taking the time to partner with and enable him to reach new plateaus and push the human limits of playing!!! 🤘🤟🤘
Dont understand why people make fun of his drumming its amazing so underrated
Love it. Lars is such an amazing guy. Always ahead of his time.
Framing off beat and out of synch as "ahead of time" is generous.
TAMA hardware continues to support powerful drumming! It's the best tag!
One of the things I love about Lars is that he knows his dates. I find myself doing that, and it's interesting hearing the accurate chronolgy of events.
ドラムはもちろんですが、後ろにある年季入った輸送箱がカッコ良すぎます👍✨📦
1992 13 y/o kid walking into Hollywood CA guitar center, 2nd floor and seeing his white tama kit on a riser 🤯
It was RIGHT THERE. Magical moment.
So much iconic gear in Metallica. Even if just a one off show, especial event or something, I would love to see them play with their 80s, and early 90s stuff again. Drums, guitars and amps
No matter what the haters say I still absolutely love this guy! I wonder how many people starting playing drums because of him, must be thousands!
the white kit is stunning!!! one of the best kits ever made
My favorite Metallica member, the heart, soul and attitude of the band.
BRING BACK THE FOUR POWER TOMS!!!!!
he can't play 2, you want him to play 4? 😂
@@lilhyena7534 Congrats on showing up to tell people you don't know anything about drumming.
Placed tighter it won't work.
Lars can't with the shoulders hurting since the late 90's.
@@redrick8900 Congrats on telling everyone here YOU don't know anything about drumming. Like it or not they're telling the truth. Lars can drum but he fucks up more then most beginners. What's he messed up? Name it. He's played the wrong tempo, he's missed notes, he's played notes where there shouldn't be notes. Hell Lars has admitted making mistakes live and on the studio versions which makes you, pretty damn stupid.
he is old man dude.. so much pain.. 😅
True icon. Grew up looking at the white kit with admiration and love although Im a guitarist. Cheers from Morocco
I don't know why Lars gets so much hate. He's awesome. Love you, Lars! ❤
Once... He settled and became cool when got old
Oh that's easy. Its because he's a shit drummer
@@froggie211 it's because he's a terrible drummer its not a mystery
[ I don't know why Lars gets so much hate. ]
It's because in the early 2000s he was very outspoken against music piracy. The optics of a multi millionaire crying about illegal downloads did not sit well with the fans.
That was back then. We now know Lars is a very down to earth person.
His drumming does. He's mildly annoying but an OK dude.
Damn! 4 decades with the same company. That's dedication and a testament to the longevity of these kits.
Lots of love from Colombia!!🇨🇴
Love u so much Lars ❤people who hate on u don’t know anything about drums ur the reason I started playing drums love u bro
