For 1997, it's impressive. Lesson learned from the first film and improve it from there. Care, talent and effort is what makes the best CGI along with combined with practical effects and used where it needed and when it's necessary.
The CGI in this movie makes Jurassic Park 3, jurassic world, fallen kingdom in shame. Such an amazing piece of work. Most of the scenes which were initially thought of done with animatronics are actually pure CGI. Unbelievable
@@jc0044 See I wouldn't say CGI in FK is bad. It is much better than Jurassic World. No doubt in that. However I don't feel sorry to say that CGI in FK is nothing compared to the first two JP movies. And JP3 is the worst of all.
JC 004 i’ve seen all of them, and it may not be the cgi itself- it’s that it’s so abused now and the camera constantly moves and there’s a lot of motion blur etc. I also think TLW has the best special effects of the series.
lol the before scenes look so funny because they look crazy reacting to nothing 😂 and I didn't know they used horses during the chase scene. pretty cool
13:38-13:42 Movie mistake -> in the in background, the two raptors should be visible right at the door, digging the ground to sneak in (where Sarah and Kelly are barricaded). But they're not visible. Obviously, they weren't added by ILM (extra money saved)
This is awesome! Is this from the behind the scenes blu ray ediitions?? The before videos looked badly color graded. So dark and saturated. Did you do all that or was that how it was when ilm released it? lol
To me CGI has really hurt film making. And I think it is way over used. Many of the very first uses of CGI still in my opinions seem to hold up over time compared with even today's uses of it. And I think it is because Jurassic Park was made by Speilberg. He was already a master of filmmaking. He already knew all the tricks and ploys and devices that make a movie work or not work. He could have made Jurassic Park with out any visible dinosaurs on screen and it still, most likely, would have been a good movie. Nobody has ever watched a movie, and walking out at the end thinking about how great the CGI was. Like all magic. If you start noticing or paying attention to the trickery or the slight of hand that a magician uses, the magical effect of suspended disbelief goes away. For any movie to be successful, you have to at least partially as the viewer get lost in the film. And throw out any logic or anything like that if it is contrary to the world of the movie. Movies have used trickery since day one. But it's only when the trickery isn't noticed that it becomes useful. CGI and digital effects are no different than any camera trickery.

This. This is what I need more of. I love before and after shots
15:56 some of the most realistic animal CGI I’ve ever seen, even today

Man the cgi in jp 3 is really good, only a few shots look fake, and if you think the cgi in fk looks bad.... I think you are blind.

Jurassic Park 3 has masterful CGI. It stands together with the first two when it comes to VFX.

Really cool! It is pretty funny to see things without cgi. It makes the actors look like idiots.

@Ghostface I was paying Spielberg a respect in my comment.
Translation: Practical effects good, CGI bad.
3:54 I still have no clue how they made the guy go through the door that hard
You can see the wire attached to him, he was pulled backwards by a wire
