I always loved the way it looked behind itself when Nedry throws the stick past it. It's kinda cute, in its realism.
We totally agree crazygeek4296. - David
I love the dilophosaurus, I mean he’s adorable. I wish I could have one and name him George
Its dogomorphizing dinos which is funny.
It’s face rippingly adorable
This is why Jurassic Park's visuals stand up today. The level of detail in the animatronics is astounding. It shows that people used to care about the movies they made. Now CGI just gives everything a cartoony look instead of the awesome gritty, life-like dinos of JP.
And to think that little bit of artistic license you guys took has inspired nearly every depiction of the creature since. Not bad for "the new guy" just winging it with Crash's design.
I loved hearing his story about how he was assigned to create the Dilophosaurus robot. Very inspiring!
Dilophosaurus was my favorite dinosaur of the film, scared the bejeezus out of me. We do our best with the BTS footage we have available, to give as much information to the fans as possible. Always happy to hear you want more, John! -Maggie
You guys just blew my mind... Amazing job
Thanks, Tard Repellent. - David
@@StanWinstonSchool thank you for making my childhood
This is my favorite dinosaur in the entire movie! I can watch this every day without getting bored.
I don't think the dilophosaurus had a frill, but that puppet really brought the creature to life. The frill was one of the best liberties ever taken in the world of film making
Its even inspired other media! There's a cute little kids' cartoon on Disney Jr called 'Dino Ranch' where its kind of a Flintstone re-imagining of the old west with a little family that raises and trains dinosaurs that work on their farm. There's an episode where they need to scare pterodactyls out of their cornfield, and a dilophosaur pops its neck frill and startles it away xD
Jurassic Park is one of my favourite films, and the spitter is my favourite dinosaur by far! It's absolutely incredible how much work went into it. Good stuff!
This movie is what made me love dinosaurs. And as soon as I saw the Dilophosaurus, I knew it was my favorite dinosaur. The ways it moved was amazing, and it's really hard to capture a soul in a creature, but you people have achieved that. Even with the Dilophosaurus inaccuracies, it is still my favorite dinosaur to this day.
This is just... just amazing. As you can imagine from the username here, the Spitter here is my favorite animatronic creature of all time. Huge fan of the thing, and just love seeing all the work that went into bringing it to life. Also a fan of the fictional animal that all this went towards bringing to life. All that hard work definitely didn't go unappreciated- it's a huge chunk of my childhood! Huge fan of the Dilophosaurus, both the fictionalized animal, and the animatronic itself.
This was one of my favorite scenes with Dennis Nedry who did a spectacular job acting with this creature before he gets eaten. Greed comes to no end as the mud washes over his shave cream can.
Wayne Knight did a spectacular job playing Dennis Nedry.
You can tell how much love and joy went into creating each of Jurassic Park's dinosaurs, but seeing this production content from a technical aspect and the amount of skill, creativity, and hard work in bringing these creatures to life is overwhelming. The completed film is truly a high watermark in puppeteer mastery.
We need to make a move back to practical effects. They look so much more realistic than CGI.
Yeah. Even CGI back then looked better and they did more work with it but moder day dino or monster movies are ridicilous. Not only do modern movies have shit CGI but even creature ideas suck. Rly? sharknado? sandsharks? sharctopus? yes all are shark movies but those movies are getting biggest beating. I can't even remember last NEW good shark movie i saw or monster movie with CGI. They used to make even robot monsters back then. Thats why many movies from 1980-2000 beat new movies. Modern movies are so lazily made. Even toys look better than moder CGI.
I’d like to see more stop motion dinos specifically
I agree problem is it costs more & Hollywood is cheapest people in this day of age.
@@damnsonwheredyoufindthis.3830 Which one is better
@@dante4ever563 its actually cheaper to do practical effects much more cost efficient.....but the real problem is directors are lazy its harder and takes alot more planning to use practical effects...instead of giving an idea to a cgi team
That guy is a hero. If he wouldn't have risen his hand, spitter might not have existed.
All these years.....and I just saw how much work went into that little dino.....
WOW.
Wow amazing I loved the spitter sequence I never thought it was done on a platform
Brad Mull definitely one of my favorite parts of the movie. I loved learning more about how they did it! -Maggie
+Stan Winston School adorei esse vídeo e o dilofossauro
+Lucas Ptczuk É nois ;)
+Lucas Ptczuk serii
Truly an incredibly put together sequence, I never knew so much went into making it look as real as possible!
I would buy a DVD of just this stuff. These documentaries are fantastic.
Dilophosaurus is one of my fav. I wish it would have been more of them in the movie. Whats funny is that their in all the JP games but not in any other JP movies. It would be nice to see them in other movies and have a bigger part.
Cassidy, Very true. But adding the spitting venom made it way more scary. It is a movie after all. ;) -Matt
the spitter scene terrified me as a kid. what a magical film.
5:29 That's an understatement. It turned out amazing.
The thought of how much time and work that goes into these creatures. My god I love it.
To be honest this dinosaur looked so dam realitic than i shat my pants on the movie, pretty menacing and beautyful at he same time becaming a very know dinosaur by today, great job man
I‘m so glad that I get to see footage like that!
This is why Jurassic Park's CG still holds up. It wasn't phoned in like most of today's CG. They were making it up as they went along. That sparks creative minds and inspires.
The dilo in Jurassic Park was a juvenile. Nedry says something about "Blah blah your big brothers". Hinting that the dilo was young in the movie.
I really like how the dilophosaurus looks! I love how it has the frills like a frilled lizard to give it some character and personality! Amazing job! This is one of the best scenes in the movie!
Favourite dinosaur of all time!!!!
and favourite film of all time!!!!
Please put up more JP stuff!!!
I have never seen a video that depicted exactly what I want to do more than this. amazing. what a dream to get paid to do what you love.
You're welcome! It's our pleasure to be able to share this amazing footage with all the fans out there. -Maggie
The Dilophosaurus looked amazing in the 3D conversion :)
Rick you my friend are an absolute genius
He's Adorable!!
Spitter guy scared the spit out of me. I'm glad I saw the behind the scenes after the movie, so I could enjoy the effects. I enjoyed seeing the characters evolution. Thank you for sharing. Awesome work (or play)!
This film and dinosaur made me fall in love with films. I just graduated Rutgers as an animator and, coincidentally, use Softimage, the same animation software that JP used.
you dont know how much i would love to go in to this industry, all of this seems like my dream job
OMG this playlist series is AMAZING
He must feel proud hes responsible for one of the most iconic dinos in the movie.
this is awesome, i wish there were more spitter dilo dino action in the movies
Me too
Mah spittin' boi. I love this guy.
I am simultaneously freaked out and fascinated by this.
i wish these videos were longer. that Dilophosaurus was so real looking in the film
wow!!! I am amazed at how much work went on behind scenes... it's like another world! and this is the secret behind the success of the movie
Im always suprised at how well the fx hold up in jurassic park. That was 20 years ago! man i'm gettin old.
I like how they build the dilophosaurus puppet.
wow they rarely showed the dilophosaurus behind the scenes great video keep it up :)
Looks like you guys spared no expense.
Awesome! I've hardly seen any behind the scenes footage of the Dilophosaurus from JP. Thank you! :)
It's adorable.
Thanks for that story.
Still my favorite dinosaur from that movie man.
The Dilo has always been my favorite animatronic in Jurassic Park. Nice job you guys!
Those guy's are Genius!!
You guys had better get the job on Jurassic Park IV! I love you guys!
Thanks for making one of my favorite dinosaurs
cg could never amaze me as much a practical tricks do.. amazing work!
I think you said it right, an experience you will never forget. Would be proud to work for such a movie, it looks so much fun. Amazing creative work you all did back then. JP is a milestone in movie history, congrats man, you was part of it :)
The spitter was always my favorite!
The spitter's hood comes out of no where!
i love the movie! my second favorite dinosaur is dilophasaurua.
Amazing Animatronics!
I love practical effects.
What a work of art, every bit!
HELL YES! I've been waiting for a "Making of - Dilophosaurus" for a LONG TIME. Please make more Jurassic Park behind the scenes!
I love what they did with Dilophosaurus in this movie.
😂😂 "skinny version of me" I totally relate to that hahhaa
i loved this creature so much , as much as i loved the raptors, i begged my folks for both the spitting version and frilled version toys of the dilophosaurus, still one of my faves, neat to know how its creation came to be
You guys did an amazing job!!! The Dilophosaurus scene is my most favorite scene in the whole entire movie! The Dilophosaurus is my favorite dinosaur because of you guys, and if it wasn't for the Dilophosaurus, I wouldn't be the dinosaur and Jurassic Park fan I am today. I do hope the Dilophosaurus will return in Jurassic World 3 because I think fans will be quite disappointed if it doesn't.
I'm just going to put it out there: Syfy Channel should reboot Jurassic Park by doing a mini series of Michael Crichton's original Jurassic Park novel. This movie was\is a classic, but the depth of that novel needs to be explored. I'm just sayin'.
Yes, grxengine, great idea! We agree. - David
Great idea! Just not the Syfy channel, they would definitely ruin it somehow.
I LOVED the book. I was a bit disappointed when they didn't allow John Hammond to die via Compies... Oh well. Little old men can't die that easily.
I'll always prefer Film Hammond over Novel Hammond. Novel Hammond deserved a grim fate, Film Hammond didn't and I loved they didn't go with that route.
BloodyFlowerFilms True, true.
Dont like the inacuracies such as the small size, frill, and spitting venom, but I love how its made, especially the tongue & neck
3:52 Me at 2am trying to get out a piece of food that's stuck in between my teeth
Comment of the day! :) - Balázs
Super cool!
Thank you guys !
The dilophosaurus was cute while Dennis was goofing around with the stick;
it started feeling terrifying when it had followed Dennis up the slope, and stood right behind him, and even Dennis himself is visibly starting to get scared at that point.
You've got some keen eyes, Carlo-Rufino. Nice catch! -Matt
the eye looks so funny it made me crack up XD
Fun Fact: after a lot of research it turns out that the Dilophosaurus and Velocerapor sizes should be switch, the Raptor is smaller then the spitter.
Thanks for a great video! Can't wait to see JP in IMAX 3D in a few weeks.
well good job that is one of my favorite scenes in the movie
I have a feeling there were two Dilophosaurus dinosaur puppets used while filming. One for the general scenes and one specifically meant for the scene when it opens it's frills. In the scenes before the frill action, the frills look very neatly tucked into the neck. Which I think would be difficult with all the umbrella like frame work that pop it open. In the film, the scene when the frills actually pop open, on looking closely you can actually see the frills are already hanging out and ready to open.
We need to bring back more animatronics into movie again.
What happens to these amazing creations after the movie wraps up?
Hey kiddykorni0, We'll share your note with Rick! Glad you enjoyed the video. -Matt
We can't wait!!! Going to be amazing and part of the reason why is because the dinosaurs stand the test of time :) - Maggie
Awesome, I really hope the Dilophosaurus returns in JPIV.
Though it is true that filmmakers often use CGI because it allows them the freedom to make changes later in the filmmaking process, but if there is a singular vision, animatronics can and do provide the most seamless effects. Though the frequency of their use in films has gone down, less time for doubt and more room for risk have increased their use in commercials. - David
This was my favorite dinosaur in the movie. I was disappointed to learn that the real version didn't spit or have a frill. Those additions made the dilophosaurus so much cooler!
You guys are pioneers. It sucks that filmmakers dont have the same kind of work ethic as you guys. Today they make movies, back then you made art.
So fun to see the creation of this amazing unforgettable piece!
You guys are a great inspiration
I hope your famous cause you deserve it. That movie. If your reading this sub he deserves it sooooooooo much.
great, inspirational story!!
My favorite 2nd only to Rexy, *the Dilophosaurus.* Much larger in real life as the Raptors would have been much smaller. Funny how size preference was chosen for the films.
was cool to see him show up in JW on the hologram hes one of my faves
My dulap baby! Lol as soon as the Ark game came out, I got it and the first Dino I wanted was my dulap -and of course, named him dulap lol cutes dino ever.
It took so long to see this video. Thank You guys, I wanted to see how Dilophosaurus was built since I saw the move! Hope for videos from the Lost World about baby T-rex and Stegosaurus! :-D
Clay3613, We hear you. Although all the dinosaurs for the rides were pulled from the original Stan Winston Studio molds, we had nothing to do with the animatronics. So please don't be mad at us! -Matt
WHEN I WAS A CHILD, I WANTED THAT FIGURE SOO MUCH BUT NEVER GET IT:(
murat karakuş, you Can look on eBay! You Can find them there. 😄
murat karakuş i did lol
That was amazing!
The dilo is my favorite
