That intro brought so many memories! Made me addicted to water filled footprints especially filling up. As if the footprints weren’t iconic enough especially in the first film “Anybody hear that? It’s…it’s an impact tremor”
People think it's all nostalgia goggles and being unfair to modern movies, but No. It's all the value and quality of the movies back then, the delivery, lessons everything all that is gone nowadays. Technology creates the story these days, not the soul of the writer.
TODAY.....it's like they're trying to compete with AVENGERS, STAR WARS, amd other films with EXAGGERATED CGI!!!! Jurassic WORLD people think that by doing the dinosaurs ALL CGI and making them move "fast " or with more agility for animals of their size and wreaking havoc will make them look "insanely awesome" 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Seriously though it becomes clear that it is not nostalgia goggles when young people and most recent generations of people who are into film complain about modern movies, then you know this isn’t just some ‘old ppl hate new things’ issue, this is just plain old question of quality
Exactly on point! Not just movies but everything in general was made with more care and detail. This sick and mediocre 21st century we live in is just sad and revolting, particularly when it comes to movies. CGI so commonplace it lost value, since most filmmakers and studios (i.e. Marvel) abuse the technology to replace huge chunks of their empty movies with questionable special effects at best.
In this franchise, we saw exactly what we wanted, dinosaurs, more real dinosaurs and not bizarre aberrations like the ones from 2015 to 2022. The story, the action, the suspense, everything in this franchise is amazing! It's like looking at a real dinosaur, something you can't just see, but touch as well.
For the last shot of the movie they actually went to Isla Sorna and recorded that, the dinosaurs and all. Everything else was shot on a sound stage so the actors wouldn't actually get eaten.
That round-up scene must've been a shitload of fun to shoot!!! Just have vehicles outrunning and chasing guys on horses as eye-line references for dinosaurs in the final product. Makes me wish I was in that scene, even if it was just a minor role.
Back when they filmed not everything in front of a boring green screen - with the effect that movies felt more realistic even when the effects weren’t that polished
This film has some pretty ordinary cgi (Stegosaurus scene) but then has one of my favourite and most believable when the Rex gives the bus a hip n shoulder at 16:35
8:33 Imagine that monstrous trex animatronic head lunging at you in the rain ..how skilled the operators must be. Cause that animatronic was dangerous just by it weighing in tons.
Jurassic Park and The Lost World are masterpieces of filmmaking, and they knew how to treat the Tyrannosaurus Rex correctly! The sequels that came afterwards needs to be erased from existence however.
The Jurassic Park franchise ended here, they should make a new ip with this kind of feeling, of being lost in this prehistoric world set in the modern time.
This is what I want when I look up VFX breakdowns. Side by Side footage. But I only ever get explanation videos that doesn't show the footage, or VFX breakdowns but without the actual scene itself.

I just realized the intro is the same intro used for the game: Warpath Jurassic park. They just made it shorter in the game to end when the Rex stomped on the camera. They also re-animated it so the game systems could handle it.
The scene where the Hunters are chasing the herd on the game-trail...That's _me_ when I'm driving anywhere. The bottom is what I see in my head...the top is the _reality._
I remember when this came out and I had collected all of the Jurassic Park figures and vehicles this movie was 10 times better than the last trilogy I hated the Jurassic world movies
At the end of the lost world I originally thought that flying dino was a pteranodon but it's something else but they had pteranodons anyway for jurassic park 3 on the same island.
Would be funny to have a copy of the before VFX movie. Then watch it with someone and act like everything is normal and your friend has something wrong with them.
Not one entire scene like this in the entirety of JWD . The first movie had the breakout scene for the dollops of tension & second had this as well as the prior trex stakeout scene. JWD literally has no equivalent on screen tension .
Why are all these behind the scenes of VFX shots just before after compositing comparisons? Would love to see the rigs, modelling, texturing and animation workflows. This is honestly such a buzzkill
