I love watching Spielberg direct. It's like watching a kid playing with action figures- that childlike wonder that is found in the first half of his career.
I don't think he ever lost that child-like wonder- it's always been a thread running throughout his career. I remember him saying once in an interview that he never wants to grow up and I don't think that he ever did. I don't want to be misunderstood when I say that, like Spielberg said in an interview when a journalist was asking him how he feels about some film critics describing him as a big kid- you can be an adult in the sense that you're responsible and mature but you never have to let go of that child-like awe, enthusiasm and wonder. I never want to lose that, either.

Absolutely agree. The degree of photorealism here is unheard of. CG technology was still in its baby shoes here, but ILM managed to fit just in that pocket. The clever use of darkness and harsh contrasts made up of what they lacked in technological advance at that time. The animations are butter, and that’s before any tissue simulations like we have nowadays. I buy every second of this movie in terms of plausibility than any of the Jurassic World sequels.

This film is the crown jewel of the franchise it really embodies the primal elements of the franchise so well and has that lovely dark and grittiness that makes it more scary and real at the same time the final thing I love about it is that the characters are always vulnerable from the moment they land on the island there's nothing stopping a rex or something from smashing their equipment up and killing them all unlike the other films.
Man, Steven Spielberg secretly made one of the best sequels in cinema. He could have made the lost world the same as the first but the fact he made it different from the first shows how passion he had towards it. I think we should give him a round of applause 👏
This film was definitely much more difficult to make. What I admire about this one is the variety that has been brought.. the dinosaurs, the music, the terrains, the locations, characters and so much more... unfortunately this film isn't really acknowledged much inspite of it being a phenomenal creation!

Rescuing Sarah Raptors in the Long Grass Visitor in San Diego I always loved how some of the action sequences while on the island had some congas and bongos playing, giving it more of a jungle flavor compared to the first movie! The fact that the dinosaurs roamed free on the island and not behind fences or constraining technology And Two teams : the photographers And the HUNTERS coming face to face Losing their communication equipment Having to set aside their differences and team up to better ensure their survival. They went from hunters, to being the HUNTED! The congas and bongos in the 🎶 🎵 really fit perfectly with The darker environment/atmosphere On Isla Sorna and it made it sound like a JUNGLE ISLAND with dinosaurs! (Especially on the tracks 🎶 /scenes : Rescuing Sarah, "Ripples " ....when Roland tranquilizes the BULL REX , And definitely the RAPTORS ON THE LONG GRASS. And when Malcolm, Sarah, and Kelly are ambushed by the raptors on the ingen operations building) THIS MOVIE.....made me want to be an actor MYSELF! Incredible life like animatronic dinosaurs that looked so REAL! Steven Spielberg directing The locations that were used for filming! There is a very certain feeling attached to both Jurassic Park and The Lost World, that none of the other films were ever able to capture for me. Just pure masterclass on both of them.

CGI has evolved immeasurably, but you need good filmmakers to make it work on screen. The artists on the original JP films understood how to use the CG effectively, whereas the average modern blockbuster is hampered by a reliance on CG with little artistic direction. It's just become far too easy to use so it gets wielded like a kid who found his dad's gun.
Film makers like Steven Spielberg and George Lucas really understand motion picture as a form of entertainment and story telling. They know how to make an interesting film.

Huge fan of The Lost World. It’s clearly my favorite sequel in the Jurassic Park/ World movie franchise. I remember being all excited about The Lost World watches at Burger King. Nostalgia as a kid in 1997! I mean, Spielberg directed this movie in between ‘Schindler’s List’/ ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan.’ There’s some sneaky great filmmaking in The Lost World.
I first saw it at age 9, but as an adult, i realize that Vince Vaughn's character was truly the villain of the film. Most of the deaths were his fault.
I love how Spielberg obviously implied that he never regretted it and knew exactly why he made it. And knew that it was ok. Arguably the reason why this much darker film was my favorite in the series and my favorite film of all time.

I remember i went to my uncle's once and i herd the cows and i thought that's a parasuarolophus and i herd a bit of a bear sound from the T.rex and i watched a documentary and i herd a elephant that sort sounded like a T.rex from the lost world. I understand the people who liked the movie but in no means is it even close to being good per se, again imho
People are entitled to their opinions, but I personally think TLW was a masterpiece and he should feel nothing short of utter pride that he made such a great AND commercially profitable movie.
I always loved the wild, jungle, primal vibe the movie had. Good sequel, unlike the 1st one which is more sci-fi, philosophy, ethics stuff. This was action adventure all the way.
The lost world is the best blockbuster movie ever in the history so much detail the vehicles. I am amazing it’s just so amazing that this is so much detail and so much care into this. This is just insane. These this is why we need more and more effort into these it takes so long to do these because it so hard and so difficult, but at the end you feel so proud that you made your own movie, I just love the vehicles I loved the actors. Spielberg could really make a terrifying horror movie. He's great at suspense (the RV over the cliff with the cracking glass) and at jump scares (the raptor head coming through the hole they dug)
As crazy as it may sound to some, I actually like The Lost World even more than the first one, LOVE the first one but the second one was next level ‼️ it’s very intense (one of the most intense movies I’ve ever seen) the storyline is sharp, the script is sharp, Steven delivered a great sequel, it’s always going to be overlooked bc of the first one I get it and that’s fine but the second one is a very good movie, they’re both in my top 20
Lost world was the best sequel. Jurassic world films dont come close, barely any tension. Felt more like marvel films when you see characters riding bikes alongside pet raptors and a trex being a super hero saving the day. Lost world had that gymnastics scene but just one cheezy scene, the rest of the film was great.
The bus sequence is one of my favorite uses of blending CGI and practical effects in a single shot. Looks so seemless when the Rex smashes the side of the bus.
It's just not possible. Lost world is a much more epic movie, maybe lesser from a directors standpoint, but as a viewer the lost world is the better film. And the first one was my favorite movie as a kid briefly to I saw lost world. Even as an adult, having just watched them both for the millionth time, lost work is the strongest one.

They should have implemented the nostalgia like they did in JW, balanced and short unlike the overboard mess on JWD. I just enjoyed the few good action scenes and the Buck-Doe cameo, other than that it was a complete let down in my opinion. I understand the people who liked the movie but in no means is it even close to being good per se, again imho
The Jurassic Park movies were a masterclass in how to use CGI effectively. Those movies still look better than most movies today.
People are entitled to their opinions, but I personally think TLW was a masterpiece and he should feel nothing short of utter pride that he made such a great AND commercially profitable movie.
I always loved the wild, jungle, primal vibe the movie had. Good sequel, unlike the 1st one which is more sci-fi, philosophy, ethics stuff. This was action adventure all the way.
The lost world is the best blockbuster movie ever in the history so much detail the vehicles. I am amazing it’s just so amazing that this is so much detail and so much care into this. This is just insane. These this is why we need more and more effort into these it takes so long to do these because it so hard and so difficult, but at the end you feel so proud that you made your own movie, I just love the vehicles I loved the actors. These were just amazing and this is why when fallen Kingdom came down it wasn’t that good but the volcano should’ve not happened like no one even knows of the island still alive or not but I hope one day that this will come to a good good good day because we already got 2025 and we got a new Jurassic Park movie coming out. Hopefully we got new actors coming. We got new stuff coming and this is gonna be really greatbut Jurassic Park lost world Jurassic Park,3the both best thing ever so much nature so much I just can’t believe that this is happened for so many years❤
i love the lost world jp it was the first jp movie i saw in the theatre, That being said i've come to think that the san diego part should of been saved for the 3rd instalment, have the "hero's" fail to stop ingen from completely getting any dinos back and get them to the mainland for the 3rd instalment. but we can't go back now.
Lost World is cool because there is no park , it's an open area and its darker tone brings more realistic touch to the story.
The Lost World is one of the most under-appreciated sequels of all time.

Spielberg could really make a terrifying horror movie. He's great at suspense (the RV over the cliff with the cracking glass) and at jump scares (the raptor head coming through the hole they dug)
As crazy as it may sound to some, I actually like The Lost World even more than the first one, LOVE the first one but the second one was next level ‼️ it’s very intense (one of the most intense movies I’ve ever seen) the storyline is sharp, the script is sharp, Steven delivered a great sequel, it’s always going to be overlooked bc of the first one I get it and that’s fine but the second one is a very good movie, they’re both in my top 20
Lost world was the best sequel. Jurassic world films dont come close, barely any tension. Felt more like marvel films when you see characters riding bikes alongside pet raptors and a trex being a super hero saving the day.
Lost world had that gymnastics scene but just one cheezy scene, the rest of the film was great.

The bus sequence is one of my favorite uses of blending CGI and practical effects in a single shot. Looks so seemless when the Rex smashes the side of the bus.
I sure hope the bonus feature is the part of the movie that is good.

It's just not possible. Lost world is a much more epic movie, maybe lesser from a directors standpoint, but as a viewer the lost world is the better film. And the first one was my favorite movie as a kid briefly to I saw lost world. Even as an adult, having just watched them both for the millionth time, lost work is the strongest one.
