My dear followers and supporters. There is absolutely nothing I can do to make my videos sound good on your phones tiny little internal speakers. Sorry. Please listen to my videos on good quality headphones or actual speakers. Thank you 😊
Well, it sounds fine to me on my ipad spkrs but ill rewatch on my bigscreen w my original anthony gallo bi-amped (no sub woofer needed) speakers next time im in my living room!
Thanks Tim! This is what I was looking for; a proper demo and you never fail to deliver! Thanks to you, I just ordered one a few minutes ago. Sweetwater, if you are watching this, you owe this man a debt of gratitude for taking the time to feature this guitar! Cheers!
Wow. You're the master Tim ! This is the perfect looking archtop. Sounds wonderful. It has in it a bit of the Pat Metheny tone. It can probably can play outside bebop jazz as well. I am sure many ppl with shop for this guitar after your video ! :)
I'm not a jazz player but I do love love love the aesthetic of the guitars. This new PM model just looks wonderful. So classy. And thank you, Tim, for showing us how wonderful it sounds.
What a joy to see the passion for music, guitar and jazz on your face! It's contagious to see someone with such a good and positive attitude. Thank you very much for your review! It sounds great!
Happy birthday Tim! That PM3C looks really nice and sounds amazing in your hands! I noticed Pat had been playing a prototype of this model for a while and I was quite excited that Ibanez had finally released a production version complete with their version of a Charlie Christian pickup but you’re right, there doesn’t seem to be many demos of it out there. Not only have you got yourself a capable archtop to take on the road, you’ve also provided a fantastic product demonstration for the rest of us (and in fact, for Ibanez too!) so thank you. And happy birthday again.
So glad you made a demo of this guitar and that you like it, Mr. Lerch! I also experienced a lack of appropriate demos, but you made the instrument sing. Happy birthday, by the way.
First of all - Happy Born Day, Tim and I thank you for your beautiful videos and music. Also, I've had my eye on this guitar from since they talked about it at NAMM this year. I reached out to Ibanez directly as well as a local shop trying to get my hands on one though no one had any real info. I know my local shop won't get one so it's nice hearing these sound beautiful. In the mean time I had one of my Ibanez guitars outfitted with a Pete Biltoft CC pickup. An internet buddy Nick Bachman set me straight that the bland eBay CC pickups don't cut it and to have Pete do the CC a bit overwound so that they hit the front of the amp more like the OG Charlie Christian pickups would back before amps were as efficient. He recommends high output/overwound CCs close to the strings. I have mine closer than normal though it's definitely a different sensation than playing a P90 or a PAF. I again thank you for actually being the right player to demo these - and now you're giving me GAS. LOL
Thank you so much, Tim! I play in a traditional Western Swing band and was interested in this guitar for the Charlie Christian style pickup and price point for touring. This was a PERFECT demo video, and I really appreciate you playing a little rhythm passage so I could hear that sound. Cheers and happy birthday!
Thanks ! 👍 I just received this guitar today, it is really fantastic. Light, ergonomic, with a very pleasant neck. And especially the accuracy and balance of the sound that really struck me.
Happy birthday Tim - thanks for so many great videos, guitar instruction books, tips, demos and just for being you. (I liked the voice of your cat in the background!)
Thank you, Tim. I saw this guitar on Sweetwater, but couldn’t find any reviews or video clips. I’m still on the fence, but your honest appraisal and recordings were very helpful. I, too, think it looks stunning.
What a beautiful guitar, and with Tim playing it sounds divine! The backs and sides are stained maple, not mahogany as Tim surmised from the color. The pickup seems to nail the CC sound we love. Play-on Maestro, and please keep the videos coming (congrats on another year too)!!
Totally agree with your opinion on how others review jazz guitars. Their demonstration and evaluation usually is not exactly how one should approach this. They seem to think that we all play rock/blues/heavy metal. The guitar and pickup configuration you review gets on my radar every now and then, but owning a (great) 1985 Ibanez LGB 30 leaves me with little left to desire (besides this, I got it from my wife so I’m a bit careful). Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday :) Thank you for the review and the great demo. I was so curious about this guitar that I ordered one a month ago. Unfortunately, it is still not available in my country.
a belated happy birthday, Tim. That DOES look and sound like a perfect gigging axe. You won't feel like jumping off a bridge if something untoward happens to it. Nice solo on Angel Eyes (the changes were pirated by Leon Russel and it became This Masquerade- The original lyrics (by Matt Dennis in 1943) are much hipper and literate, IMHO.) Really enjoy your playing and your personal theater. I saw/heard you do a blues tune live once-really good.
I didn’t know the product and I took a look. It sounded fabulous but the price point is far beyond the Pat Matheny tribute one which is not comparable unfortunately for me...
Great video, thanks ! Also important to know: Pat designed that a guitar with guitar maker Daniel Slaman from Netherlands who makes great guitars. Pat played the Slaman guitar from 2014 till 2020 on almost every gig. After that Ibanez made him a guitar which looked very much like that, especially the tailpiece and the picup of course.
Happy birthday Tim! I was so curious about their own version of the CC pickup. You are just the perfect person to let us know how they compare to the Lollar ones. Maybe that would be fun video when you have a chance? All the best!
happy 21st! glad you can finally drink ;) beautiful guitar & tone (reminds me of GVE's tone on his solo albums, e.g. Soliloquy). Someday, I would love to see you play jazz on a flying V, just for kicks
You absolutely answered all my questions,,, I want one of these now, but I also bought myself a birthday present on my last birthday, a D'Angelico Excel 1 , a great inexpensive acoustic archtop with the same kinda idea something that I can gig with without worrying about,so I probably should wait before I dive into another purchase lol
Wow Tim. I can’t recall anyone playing the high register of the neck with such a great touch. Most players put too much downforce on the higher register E and B strings and it gets thin sounding. Great playing, keep it up.
Tim, the first think I looked for was the balance between the strings, and that seems great. You definitely have the pickup adjusted right. Love that CC pickup -- it's a very pure jazz sound. I'm pretty tempted to get one, TBH. Love your "duo" performance -- great idea to have different sounds for each track to see the guitar's versatility.
Beautiful. Discovered it yesterday in a local guitar shop. With that CC pickup it looks pretty close to Westville/shibuya walkin‘s Pat model (I think it’s called unity, I once spotted it in Tokyo). Which is a beautiful guitar. It never had a chance to go into serial production. Well…maybe now…
Well.. Happy Birthday Sir. Please keep it up..even if you do use roundwounds! LOL It's like what Mundy said on that old Hot Licks video..do you remember it? He said "we need you". ..and yes Tim, we need you.
Linda Manzer makes exquisite guitars. I’ve never owned one but I’ve seen a couple in the wild and ogled many online. Your Ibanez looks and sounds lovely. Congratulations and happy birthday 🎂.
Happy Belated ! Just two weeks ago I gave myself an early bday present. Mines PRS, never had one but I really like it. Mine is from Sweetwater too. I have never bought a guitar without playing it but took a chance. One complaint, the tailpiece is a whammy and right where I rest the heel of my palm and I have whammyed it back while playing, it rest about 1/16 above the body I am going to lower it to flat, I 'll still have down whammy but not back. Have fun with the new guitar.

Sounds awesome on my cell phone ..Sally agrees so that settles that issue
@@TimLerchGuitar did you have the tone control adjusted on the solo guitar?
Without headphones I’d have missed hearing the cat meowing!
Yes!
Happy birthday Mr. Lerch!!!

Lovely demonstration, I didn't expect anything less when you played the demonstration at the end. Very warm, yet clearly articulate!

Underground msn - is that Dostoyevsky?
@@travelthebest2676 Yes. I read "Notes from the Underground" and really liked it, hence the photo and my username. Thanks for noticing.

Happy Birthday! I've had my eye on the PM3C since it came out. Thanks for the demo.
Happy Birthday! I turn 60 in a few days, I've convinced the wife that a new guitar is appropriate. Lets see what I get.
If you're into this guitar, also check out the Archtop Tribute Custom Barney Kessel model. Just sayin' ;-)

Even on my phone I can tell it has a fabulous jazz tone.
Wish it had a gloss finish .

Happy Birthday Tim ! Nice birthday present and nice demo too 🙂
Hopefully one of many many more! Happy Birthday!
Thanks Tim, this is the 1st descent demo I've seen.
Ibanez guitars are such workhorses! They never disappoint. I own too many guitars but almost always when I go to gig I pick up an Ibanez.

I recognize a special beautiful thing, there is a very clear, exact attac at the first milliseconds, which a lot of archtops lack.
The Ibanez is perfect!
Happy birthday!
Sounds great Tim. Thanks for the demo. This puts me over the fence!
Nice sounds as always Tim.
Happy (belated) birthday, Tim! 🎂
Nice choice; your playing sounds beautiful too!
Great demo video Tim, I hope Sweetwater & Ibanez notice it.
Happy Birthday 👍🎸 love that guitar!
Ordered mine for my birthday in November….will arrive on the 25th….which is my day🎉
Happy birthday Maestro!
Happy Birthday Tim. Beautiful guitar. Mighty tasty playing.
Happy Birthday Tim. Great video as always. I've been thinking about purchasing this guitar.
