Got mine to come on this evening thus why I am here. I didn't know this car has that much power. I think I need to do it again. An Acura (not stock) tried me and had to be shown. Much respect. Tame the iron horse.
Although I don’t advocate it on publicly driven roads, it’s certainly an experience. The car turned into something else. Hahahaha. And I agree… Sometimes you need to grab the kitten by the neck and put them in their place. 👍🏾
I thought you were gonna say that when you were trying to catch up to the two cars ahead of you, the cop stopped you that would not be funny. Make sure you always carry a good radar detector

I have the C8 and the C7 and both do this. Every time you literally floor it, it will kick you into that mode.
That’s nuts!!! I’ve never seen that on my C7 and I drove that thing like I stole something. Not doubting you, I just never witnessed it in my C7. 👍🏾
I’m like you Griff. Never been a pedal to the floor guy. And I’m not racing every Mustang or Civic Type R that pulls up next to me and pokes the bear, which is daily. I’m 49 and don’t feel the need to go to jail for street racing! Great content. Keep it up!
Thanks. Agreed… I don’t mind a punch here and there, but no interest in 2-3 Mile street races. Some of these folks will keep going pedal to the floor until the other person backs off.
You are right!! The first time I saw this it freaked me out too!! My 23 Z51 transmission went to kill mode and was ready to go.. I’ve done it a few times since just to know what was going on and needless to say I fell in love 😍 lol

Great explanation. I got my 2023 C8 convertible with Z51 package last week. This week I got the same green cog symbol. Like you I thought I broke my car after one week of ownership. Yes I was driving “spirited” and yes the dash lit up. I must exercise restraint. Be safe and enjoy your C8!

Scary but true story. This car is something else on all fronts!!!
I have 21 C8 have transmission problems, when u drive normal it does fine , when u drive it hard it shifts into 5 goes high rpm n won't shift into 6th gear . In the shop twice, they said you need 2 more qts of trans fluid at $350 . Cking if anyone else had same problem .
That stingray will drop a gear and the green "sport shifting" indicator and you start MOBBING

The DCT does it a little differently than the C7 A8, but you're right, it does catch you off guard the 1st time it happens.
@6:00 i was driving my C8 Z06 “in Mexico” when this happened to me and it definitely changes how the car shifts and everything, you immediately notice when it switches
It scared me at first, but once I looked it up it’s actually pretty kool.
@@AskGriff1 for me I didn’t notice it come on but I felt the car was doing something different and when I looked down that was on the dash so I stopped and had to look up what it was lol
Track mode is a completely different experience

I have a 2023 2lt z51. I got that same indicator last week. And I also thought my transmission was screwed

Hey buddy. Hope you doing well. I took my car out today 4/2, and finally had a nice 15mile drive and I drove to Mexico also 😂. Speaking of Mexico, which radar detector do you use? Of course today as I got on the GSP on my way to Mexico and what pulls next to me within the first mile, a guy in a white SVJ of all things lol. Thankfully all he did was beep at me and wave just before he broke the sound barrier right in front of my eyes lol. I instantly thought of this video at that moment when I first saw him. @@AskGriff1 yeah the car def moves and the sound it makes just wants to make you push it more lol. It’s almost impossible to stay below 70. I set the speed alarm for 70 and it’s a complete waste to have it under 85 lol. Thanks for the info. I am toying between the R3 and R4. As for the car, it’s far surpassed my expectations in a lot of ways. Looking back, so far if I had to change anything I think I would have gone with the GT2 seats. I have the standard seat and have to say being an avg sized guy, I find the seats to snug even with the adjustments. I am actually thinking about putting a deposit for 25 but not sure. I heard 26 will be the start of the C9 but who knows. Stay well brother 👍

Lol I have had my car approximately 1 month. I have not even broken the 500 mile in her yet. When I tell you It brings competition wanting to know what she can do it’s a understatement. Mustangs, BMW”s they all want some action. I just laugh as they try and poke the bear.
Yessir!!! I’ve smoked a good handful of Imports, Domestics and Europeans. In most cases, when we reach the traffic light after a good smoking, many of them don’t want to talk. They just want to try again. I’m a one time facilitator!!! I’ll smoke you once, your on your own from there. Hahahahahaha The ones that choose to roll the window down and chat all say the same thing. “Man that thing is SWEET” and “It’s pretty fast for stock”. 👍🏾
Let me ask you, this is a production line card, in order to make money they have to build and sell cars, it’s not building enough and the dealers are marking them up 25% they doing an injustice, they should have a $60,000 base, and $70,000 if you move up to two LT
Kinda of cool when when you think about, that it recognizes when the “performance mode” needs to be switched, and assumes by driving like that it automatically moves the car into the proper settings, now that AI

They talked about the Competitive Performance Modes at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving Corvette Owners School. I just got back from it Friday. Mag Ride has some additional modes not available to non-Mag ride.

@@AskGriff1 if you want to REALLY see and know what the car can do- that's the ticket and you don't have to worry about wrecking your car. Teaches car control and recovery in wet conditions, proper use of the launch control, and the time on the track is well worth it. If you ever wondered- would I want to track my car? (I mean besides the 1/4 mile straight run) the course will also answer that question for you definitively.
Today was my first time on the PA Turnpike with mine as it just got XPel PPF. I can’t believe how many people were trying to get me to race with them. I wanted no part of it, but WOW.

I got a 2023 corvette and I was gone across the bridge and I punched into it and that green indicator come up real quick, but I can say I was gone over 120 when I looked down when I let off the acceleration. It scared me more than the 2021 camaro ZL1 1LE did and I had it at 150. So it must come on when u get over 120 mph in the vette. I recommend don't try it because all it will be is a flash that will go by. Thank God they didn't have but a few cars on the bridge that day when I did that and it was a three lane bridge also.

Griff be careful going into Mex with or without the C8. I would never take the C8 into Mex, parts of the Gov, Admin, Police get favors from the Cartels, lucky they didn’t pull you out of that C8 and swap you out with a Chevy Nova.

Your C8 went into Transformer Mode
Hahahahaha. It’s in the manual. It talks about how that indicator turns green and the car automatically changes when it senses certain driving conditions 👍🏾. I looked into it after it happened to me.

I’ve not heard of this before. Interesting, but I’m not going to go to Mexico, I’ve heard don’t drink the water! At 68, my days of 100 and over are in my rear view mirror. From the dig, I might come out to play, but light speed and warp drive are for Captain Kirk.

My did that today whem i passed a few cars. It came on and then went off when I slowed down, it was in Tour mode, does it need to be in Sport mode to keep this from happening?
Mine was in sport I believe when it happened to me.

Instead of being surprised when the car goes into performance driving mode you can you can set it up to do so.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE DRIVING FEATURES High-performance driving features are for use at a closed racetrack and are not intended for public roads. It is the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.
Read your Owner’s Manual for important feature limitations and information. TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL The traction control system limits wheelspin and the StabiliTrak electronic stability control (ESC) system assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions.
Both systems turn on automatically every time the vehicle is started. Press the OFF Traction Control/ESC button, located on the center console, once to turn off traction control. Press and hold the OFF button to turn off both traction control and ESC.
Press the OFF button again to turn on traction control and ESC. COMPETITIVE DRIVING MODE
Competitive Driving Mode allows full engine power while electronic stability control helps maintain directional control of the vehicle.
When in Sport or Track mode, press the OFF Traction Control/ESC button twice to activate Competitive Driving Mode. The Traction Control Off and ESC Off lights will illuminate on the instrument cluster.
Press the OFF Traction Control/ESC button again to turn off Competitive Driving Mode.
PERFORMANCE TRACTION MANAGEMENT (PTM)F PTM offers 5 modes of operation, all designed to provide consistent performance when cornering in a variety of track conditions.
When in Track mode, press the OFF Traction Control/ESC button twice to activate PTM.
The Traction Control Off and ESC Off lights will illuminate on the instrument cluster. Rotate the Driver Mode Control selector to scroll through each PTM mode on the instrument cluster. Press the OFF Traction Control/ESC button again to turn off PTM.

LAUNCH CONTROL Launch Control, available when Competitive Driving Mode or PTM is selected, is a form of traction control that manages tire spin while launching the vehicle to help achieve high levels of acceleration in a straight line. With the vehicle not moving and the wheels pointed straight, press the brake pedal very firmly to the floor, rapidly press the accelerator pedal to wide open throttle, and then release the brake pedal while fully pressing the accelerator pedal. The system initially limits engine speed and manages wheel slip.

Absolutely man. The car is a lot of fun and garners quite a bit of attention. If you get one, be sure to break it in properly. A lot of folks despite getting a BRAND NEW CAR, have never officially broken one in. They pull off the lot with the pedal to the floor. Hahahaha!!!! Thanks for the Sub. Keep watching 👍🏾

You just turned off the Traction Control and the Competitive Driving modes. Put into Track and slow Double Click on traction controls then you can go into Wet, Dry, Race 2 and Race 1 modes. Read the book and try the performance stuff. Or Buy a Z 06. LOL 😂
I didn’t put it into anything other than Sport. Could have been a glitch as it’s normal behavior in Track Mode 🤷🏽♂️. Non the less it’s an amazing car. I passed on the Z06. It’s more car than I’m interested in. I’ll take an Eray though. 👍🏾

I had my 2022 for 7 months and have seen 158 MPH so far and never saw what you are describing. I am 72 yrs old, love WOT on safe back country roads. I will have to verify this with GM since none of my C8 Buddies have witnessed this and are very skeptical. How about posting your built in front video?
It certainly happened and it freaked me out. I thought I broke something. Ask about it. It was a “Green Gear” icon that popped up on the cluster and a message stating that I was in a competitive or performance mode or something like that. Can’t recall exactly what the message was. I was in “Sport Mode” and “Automatic” not manual. Just giving you as much info as possible for when you check. And I haven’t set up the PDR yet.
Great job you are doing on here Griff. I was inspired by your UA-cam videos to buy the C8 which I am very happy with. Bye to my 991.2 GT3 and welcome hone to the C8. For 1/3 the price of the Porsche, I have a better car with $128 annual oil changes versus $520 Porsche oil changes. Love the Elkhart Lake Blue! @@cruizelover Huge Thanks. Check page 208 in the PDF Manual. What happened to me is referenced under “Track”. I’m pretty sure I was in sport as I don’t drive the car in track mode. 🤷🏽♂️ Possibly a glitch discovered or maybe I switched it and just don’t recall. Either way, my knuckles were too white to touch anything while it was happening, but it made the adjustments automatically and posted the competitive driving message in the info section of the cluster. Kool stuff. I’m glad I inspired you and happy that you are also enjoying the heck out of your car.

I believe the Camaros have a similar function as well. You have to have the car in sport or track mode when you get on the throttle. I’ve seen while driving the “performance shift available “ when the circumstance are the same as what you described. I’ve also enabled “competitive driving mode” when putting the car in track mode and pushing the traction control button twice. Check your owners manual for information on various driving modes and what they mean, it sounds like your car was functioning normally 💪🏾🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥✊🏿
