The Nissan GTR R35 is like Lebron James. Been in the game for a long time and still handing out the smoke to all the new cars coming into the scene or at least hanging with the competition. The fact that it still competes with a lot of modern cars just shows the test of time of how great this car is. Yeah it’s extremely overpriced now but it still throws it down against any competitors in its path. Great video overall!
Now that the E-Ray is out, the question is: what will power the ZR1? A Z06 engine with electric assist on the front axle or a Z06 engine with a cross-plane crankshaft and twin turbos or a supercharger. It’s crazy to think that when the R35 came out, Chevrolet was launching the C6 ZR1 and the R35 will likely see the C8 ZR1 reach dealerships.
Zr1 power train is already leaked. TT 5.5L 800-850hp. Zora is same thing but with a ev motor for the front axle making 900+ maybe a 1000. Probably gonna cost like 200+ msrp though.

Z06 runs 10.5 but traps higher, this all depends on which tires. Eray with zer pkg has Michelin ps4s tires same as a Z06 without z07, it adds fe4 suspension and opens the carbon fiber wheel option. Z07 with cup2r track tires and aero has a lot of drag. I'm taking the Z06 myself. Maybe a grand sport will still be released. Zr1 should be faster

Z06 achilles heel is being NA. It only makes advertised horsepower at low elevation. When elevation is raised like at Willow Springs, it makes way less horsepower.
Now I wonder how the recently unveiled E-Ray will do against the Z06 and the GT-R. The E-Ray has similar acceleration to the Z06. But it has AWD and weighs around the same weight as the GT-R. So it would be interesting to see how well the E-Ray will do against these two cars.
Depends on the surface. On the prepped drag strips, the Z06 will be the fastest of the 3. On an airstrip attack such as this, the Eray will take the win

By the sounds of things, Chevy published the E-Ray with all seasons. This could mean that the optional summer tires could improve that time even more.
E ray does the quarter in 10.5 so it’d be faster then both from a dig. I suspect tho from a roll the e rays battery’s faster you go obv will be less effective so considering the gtr was this close to the z06 it’ll prolly beat an e ray from a roll but definitely not a dig. Z06 would lose on a dig but go right past on a roll I expect

I have seen no mention of the trap speed on the E-Rays 10.5-sec quarter-mile. I'd imagine it being slightly slower than the Z06 w/Z07 running around 130 to 129 mph as the E-Rays trap speed. This is my assumption because the 0 to 60 for the E-Ray is 2.5 secs. Whereas the Z06 is 2.6 for the 0 to 60. But by the end of the quarter, the Z06 w/Z07 takes it by a 10th. So you are right about the Z06 having a better roll than the E-Ray. But the Z06 does seem to have the potential to be quicker and faster than the E-Ray when everything has been met. But consistently the E-Ray will be the quicker car.
Well, considering the ZL1 1LE (both manual and auto), C7 Grand Sport, C7 Z06, and C8 Stingray Z51 are all quicker around C&D's lightning lap. That's against the 2015 GT-R Nismo by the way. I'm assuming the C8 Z06 will also be quicker than the GT-R Nismo. Granted it would be interesting to see if the updated 2024 GT-R Nismo will at least be on par with the C7 Z06 which is about 5 secs quicker than the GT-R Nismo.
Do keep in mind that Willow Springs is 1/2 mile above sea level, which means the Vette is down about 10% hp due to lower atmospheric pressure. Price of being NA, but the results at sea level would have shifted in its favor quite a bit.

Almost every new car you can buy in the 100k range is going to be an epic driving experience. GTR Z06 GT4RS GT500 CT5V everything is just so good, you can actually just be a car person and not have to pick a favorite because they are all so so good.
I like how they have to find super modified supercars to race stock Z06’s to find something to beat it. You put duel turbos on a Z06 and nothing will touch it.

For some reason this blue z06 is horrible in drag races, with that same car motortrend did 10.8, but with a convertible did 10.7 and with another z06 did 10.5 they could have done at least two races
The Nismo does a 10.8 at the very best with rollout, I have never seen a stock one go faster than that. Meanwhile Hagerty tested the Z06 (WITH Z07 Package) at 10.5 seconds @ 131 mph. It's difficult to believe Throttle House's results

Electric torque, plus EV traction control is far superior to ICE traction control, that’s why they launch so good, even in bad weather.

Z06 achilles heel is being NA. It only makes advertised horsepower at low elevation. When elevation is raised like at Willow Springs, it makes way less horsepower.

Now I wonder how the recently unveiled E-Ray will do against the Z06 and the GT-R. The E-Ray has similar acceleration to the Z06. But it has AWD and weighs around the same weight as the GT-R. So it would be interesting to see how well the E-Ray will do against these two cars.
Depends on the surface. On the prepped drag strips, the Z06 will be the fastest of the 3. On an airstrip attack such as this, the Eray will take the win

Well, Chevy probably uses the same surface for all the times that they publish. So the E-Ray and the Z06 both were published with the same quarter-mile time. By the sounds of things, Chevy published the E-Ray with all seasons. This could mean that the optional summer tires could improve that time even more.
E ray does the quarter in 10.5 so it’d be faster then both from a dig. I suspect tho from a roll the e rays battery’s faster you go obv will be less effective so considering the gtr was this close to the z06 it’ll prolly beat an e ray from a roll but definitely not a dig. Z06 would lose on a dig but go right past on a roll I expect

Well, I remember Chevy publishing the Z06 with the Z07 at 10.4 secs at 131 mph. But that's on their testing. I have seen no mention of the trap speed on the E-Rays 10.5-sec quarter-mile. I'd imagine it being slightly slower than the Z06 w/Z07 running around 130 to 129 mph as the E-Rays trap speed. This is my assumption because the 0 to 60 for the E-Ray is 2.5 secs. Whereas the Z06 is 2.6 for the 0 to 60. But by the end of the quarter, the Z06 w/Z07 takes it by a 10th. So you are right about the Z06 having a better roll than the E-Ray. But the Z06 does seem to have the potential to be quicker and faster than the E-Ray when everything has been met. But consistently the E-Ray will be the quicker car.
A part of my question has been answered. Now I want to see the GT-R vs. Z06 on a track. My money is always on Godzilla.
Well, considering the ZL1 1LE (both manual and auto), C7 Grand Sport, C7 Z06, and C8 Stingray Z51 are all quicker around C&D's lightning lap. That's against the 2015 GT-R Nismo by the way. I'm assuming the C8 Z06 will also be quicker than the GT-R Nismo. Granted it would be interesting to see if the updated 2024 GT-R Nismo will at least be on par with the C7 Z06 which is about 5 secs quicker than the GT-R Nismo.

Do keep in mind that Willow Springs is 1/2 mile above sea level, which means the Vette is down about 10% hp due to lower atmospheric pressure. Price of being NA, but the results at sea level would have shifted in its favor quite a bit.
Good but useless point if you drive it above sea level. It would have lost the second race at a little higher altitude then.

im decently surprised with how the nismo kept up tbh alot of its tech (mainly the engine) is nearly a decade old with 70 less bhp and being a bit heaver it held up pretty well against the c8

I think there might be some traction issues as I believe the GTR nismo is a 10.7 sec car so technically corvette should be faster.
On the other hand r34 1000bhp is nuts... It's racing EVs or something.
For some reason this blue z06 is horrible in drag races, with that same car motortrend did 10.8, but with a convertible did 10.7 and with another z06 did 10.5

The Nismo does a 10.8 at the very best with rollout, I have never seen a stock one go faster than that. Meanwhile Hagerty tested the Z06 (WITH Z07 Package) at 10.5 seconds @ 131 mph. It's difficult to believe Throttle House's results

Why though? It is obvious that a Turbo 4WD car beats a N/A RWD easily in a drag race, no matter what the car is or the brand. It is not because its a Nissan or Nismo. Place any other car or brand with similar power and the 4WD will always demolish the RWD one

I noticed the R34 has British Columbia plates, there are still lots of these up here. Over the years I've seen the odd R34 at the local dragstrip, more R33s and even more modded R32s. I've only ever noticed one break into the 11's over the past maybe 17 years? How fast were the runs in this video?
The modern expensive Chevrolet is a disappointment. Can barely beat a GT-R that came out in 2009. The GT-R Nism⭕ is a masterpiece.
