    1- tint your front windshield
2-pay someone to clean your car
    3- use rear view camera
    4- get a convertible instead
5- you will get used to it.

#5 Bothered me so greatly that I went to Eikon Motorsports and purchased a Lambo door conversion kit. In most cases, the doors open far enough so that I can then lift the doors up and out of the way and get a nice big space to exit the car. As far as getting in or out, that takes a small amount of time. Once in, then I drive her and can't stop having fun. That includes the mirrors which seem to given me adequate view. My C8 hasn't given me the reflections that yours has, so I can't comment on that aspect. In terms of lane changes, I do have to be careful in certain circumstances, but so far, so good after 14 months of driving. I'm happy with the performance and will not get any of the uprated models. I'm becoming very familiar with the center button stack, so that doesn't bother me. My vertical doors did need adjustment. The easiest way was to obtain high strength grommets. I put them in place as additional bump stop to make up for the sag that develops with break-in on the strut/shock.

One thing I did when I had my 1LE was put a little square of cardboard with cut up yoga mat and taped it to my garage wall. I'm sure the C8 doors are maybe similar in length like the 1LE so by having this one the wall, I could open the door all the way (slowly) and not worry about it being against the wall and getting damaged.

I also would like to get the Vossen HF-5 rims but due to the amazing offset and stance they give, my question is...How far do they stick out from the fenders at the rocker level? and if having the GM stock splash gaurds will these be adequate enough to stop and stones from the tires hitting the rear quarters? I notice your not running currently with the splash gaurds so I assume your not getting any stone chips? Thanks in advance, any and all info would be appreciated.

I have a Z51 and can attest to the ridiculous amount of brake dust that gets on the wheels... My black wheels are almost never clean. My biggest complaints were the open vents on the sides and the exposed radiators up front, I ended up buying aftermarket mesh to cover them up. Best way to keep the engine bay clean is to 3M ceramic everything you can so the water beads off. I had my C8 done front to back for about $850.

    @hank41652 Рік тому +1

I know this video is 1.5 years old but I'll comment anyway. 1. Thanks for the tip on the brush for the engine bay. 2. I believe the 1LT has the HD rear camera, it takes some getting used to and I generally don't use it, but it's there and does provide a good rear view. I have the regular Z-51 spoiler so it's not a bother. Definite blind spots on the rear quarters but if you adjust your side mirrors so you can't see the side of the car then go just a little more, it helps a lot. 3. I have the same garage issue. I put a pad on the wall and use the exit memory setting (steering column forward, seat all the way back). It definitely helps on entry, exit is still a bit difficult. Both of these things help a lot. Not sure if a 1LT has memory seats. Thanks for continuing to do these videos.

Kidding aside, the blind spot issue is scary at a 45 degree intersection and a blind spot sensor can't tell there is oncoming traffic 75 feet away that will cream you if you pull out at the wrong moment. Good Tip for all cars....but Especially for C8 Engine bays...watch those belt buckles. The last two used C8 corvettes I looked at both have scratches on the upper rear quarters.

    1. Agreed Carbon Fiber should cover the silver pieces. 2. People drive these in the rain? More reason to buy the C8 HTC. 3. The blind spots are spooky, guess it would take some getting used to. 4. Part of the deal with this, i guess like you said, get the HTC. 5. That is a thick door, had no idea! Have you considered putting padding on the garage wall just in case you accidentally swing door too far / too fast? As for parking lots, always park at the very end of the line away from people when possible.

There are some fixes. I have blind spot mirrors. Cost about $6 and is a huge help. I do use painters tape on the vents when I wash my car. There is a setting that automatically moves the seat back and adjusts the steering wheel giving you much more room for ingress and egress. I do notice some reflection from the dash on the windshield. My biggest concern is the lack of space in the interior. No good place for snacks and drinks when we travel. In the winter there’s no place for coats either. All that being said we love our C8. After all it’s not meant to be a grocery getter (our Honda CR-V) is it! Kudos on your video your points were well made. Cheers!

Trying to get into my first Corvette within the next 2 years should I go with the C7 or C8? I think the C8 Base Models will be fairly affordable once the 2023 Z06 comes out. Right now in my area a base 2015 C7 Stingray is $50K, 2017 Grand Sport is around $60K & 2015 Z06 is $65K+. All under 30K miles. Hoping in the next 2 years they’re in the mid to low 40s for a Z06 or I’ll see what the C8’s are looking at in 2 years.

Sold my 2020 non-Z51 2LT coupe for the 2022 1LT HTC Z51; Hate to say it but the Z51+magride makes a huge difference. Put 9k miles on my 2020 and so far 5500miles on the HTC. The HTC solves your # 2,3,4 hate-list. Much less wind noise at +80miles, standard cam-mirror and ok blind spot view off the nacells. My other observations: The injection ticking noise is gone and you can hear the exhaust by lowering the rear window. HTC trunk is always usable which is fantastic for a daily drive. It looks way more exotic, especially with the black roof+nacells on red, orange, blue.Last but not least no pullovers to operate the roof!

i never thought about the doors.... id never be able to get in or out if i was at work lmao. I have less room than that with my tacoma at my works parking lot, the spots are so small to fit so many vehicles. I struggle getting in or out if anybody is parked next to me. I thought this was a HTC when I saw the thumbnail going through youtube bc of the black top section of the car. It looks good, Ive been thinking HTC simply bc of not having the engine bay cleaning issues and bc of having the option for the black pillars, roof and nacelles.

In 1994 I bought a new twin turbo Supra targa. If you think the wind and buffeting in the C8 is bad take a ride in one of those old Supra's and you'll appreciate what you have now. In 1995 I drove the Supra from Key West to Virginia Beach with the top out and I took so much wind buffeting to the top of my head that I lost some hair and I'm pretty sure I can blame my male pattern baldness on the wind damage to my scalp caused by that trip.

As a retired auto designer, I totally agree with you about the wheels that they offer. Wheels complete the design statement of any car, and these are disappointing. I recently ordered a 2023 and settled on the optional 20-spoke all-black ones which I felt were the best available, but could have been better.

You people are weird and always in the comments of videos like these and it just makes you appear super jealous and absurd lol you act like he isn’t aloud to not like certain things about HIS car? He paid out the ass for the car and probably worked his ass off to be able to. If he doesn’t like certain things about an expensive car, especially issues that shouldn’t even be an issue on a car like this then he has that right. And they ALWAYS reiterate many times how they love the car still and that it’s just small things they would change.

For the seat issue, why aren't you using the memory features? It made it worlds easier to get into the car.
When the car is off, my seat is alllll the way back and the steering wheel is all the way forward. When I turn the car on, my seat moves into position and the steering wheel adjusts to my memory setting.
Shut off the car, everything retracts and I can get out with ease.
Maybe you know this and were just making a point of how huge the doors are, but I wanted to let you know this existed. It's personally my favorite feature. :)
