Did I choose the right truck? Some say no... I say watch and find out.

    You are 100% correct on all your reasons. The door pins and plastics are my biggest issues.

    Excellent video. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not looking at this as reasons not to build one but more of a list of things I should deal with in the beginning to hopefully end up with a better product. Thanks for putting the thought into this.

      No problem. It was kinda fun to think about. I could definitely go into more detail but figured this would fit the bill.

    Well said, at least as far as I’ve found, support seems to be lacking as well, sas s10s are few and far between. I can find info on slamming them to the ground all day but a good write up with good pictures on an sas seems to be pretty hard to come by on the forums. Thanks for putting the content out man.

      There are a few companies that make some parts, and there used to be some write ups. But yes, they are very sparse. I'll try to keep putting info out the best I can. Hopefully it'll help some.

      It’s out there but boy have you gotta dig on the forums. Even for the sky’s sas kit I went with I couldn’t find any pictures of where and how they reinforced the rear hangers. Only thing I found was in an old 4 wheeler magazine article. but I’d love to get mine on the road later this year and take my kids for a ride

      @@IronDragonSC very true. Y you definitely gotta trust your own judgement while building.

    I'm also 6 foot and I'm cramped in my S10, I can deal with crappy gm plastic but by far the most annoying things are the remote oil cooler and the door pins. The aftermarket or lack thereof is what has me going back and forth on whether I should SAS it or pick another platform.

      You can eliminate the remote oil filter. It's super simple and works well with the sas, and yes a lack of aftermarket support can be a problem. Mostly that means you need to be a little more creative.

      @@ClinkenbeardStrong I saw that in your other video, sadly I'm still rocking the crappy ifs and I'm afraid of the drive line possibly smacking the filter. I think the oil leak saved my frame from when it was on the East Coast, it's just a GM built in feature 😂

    It’s a 20 year old truck lot of wear and tear

      Very true. But if you look at 20 yo Toyotas, the normally hold up better. It's unfortunately the sad truth of being a domestic truck owner.

    Do you have any more information on the 2wd wye pipe?

      What kind of info are you needing?

      What model 2wd did you get the wye from? The 4x4 one is right in front of the front axle pinion

      @ClinkenbeardStrong  6 місяців тому

      @@gozuki44 I got one from the same year truck as mine, just a 2wd version. The 4wd one goes under the front driveshaft. So when you solid axle swap the truck you would need to modify that to clear the new front driveshaft position. The 2wd one doesn't loop down, so it works well in a solid axle swapped truck.
