I'm just a guy with an accommodating wife that enjoys life, family, off-road vehicles, and the great outdoors. I want to share what we experience with whomever will watch!
Rolling into 2024 in an s10 on 40s in the snow!
Hey everyone. we did our annual new years run. we went in search for some deep snow, and couldn't find it. But we did find some stunning views and some good experiences with great people. follow along if you want to hear my thoughts on what the new year should all be about.
I do want to give a huge thanks to my buddy John. He's always willing to lend a hand with filming. He supplied all the drone footage in this video.

Its actually genius if youre into engineering but as far as looks its far from easy to say anything about common knowledge so to each their own , good luck keeping up with jeeps with coilovers
What about a walk around of the Toyota sas 4 runner
Are you running the stock brake master cylinder or a 1 ton cylinder
Factory s10 master. Deleted all the abs as well.
I like it! I had a blazer way back and now am thinking about an overland style pickup for play time and would love to do something like you’ve done. I’m saddened to hear your having trouble with the trans. I was thinking of using a t5 with an upgraded rebuild kit if and when I get to doing it. But if you’re having trouble with the bigger trans on big tires perhaps I need to go to the better trans. Thanks for your input in this video series.
Thank you for the comment! Yea the trans Is a little problematic, but it is still going somehow. The nv3500 is great in stock form, but the added stress of 40s and just the general abuse of offroading is definitely taking it's toll. I don't know a whole lot about the t5 other than it's supposed to be weaker than the nv3500?? Don't want to swear to that, but something I read somewhere along the way. I have all the parts to swap the big boy tranny in there, and am hoping to get to it this summer. Definitely doesn't hurt to go overkill sometimes. Keep rocking with your project!!!!
The song ruined this
Thank you for your opinion, but I disagree
One day I’ll get the front end of mine tightened up so I can do freeway speeds without white knuckling the steering wheel
That' does make freeway driving alot nicer haha!!
Nice truck
Thanks 👍
Very nice rig.
Thank you. It's definitely a labor of love.
Anything different from what everyone else is doing which is normally Toyotas is cool in my book
I agree!!!
@@ClinkenbeardStrongi actually just sas a ranger but they legit make nothing for a sas for rangers
@@Zed-uh8js the struggle is real!!!!
Damn. Well on the bright side you were fighting some tough issues and still made it through. Hopefully the rest is a breeze
The only car I own with heated seats is my bmw and I don’t drive it in the winter 😢
I believe heated seats for this truck will be an upgrade for the future!!
How many times have you owned this truck with your corny self? Do you ever feel cringe when you talk or is it just us?
Why im not surprised after looking on your face?
RONNIE???!!!!
Makes you wanna kick yourself in the ass😅😅 At least you can make use of them now!!
Haha. I definitely felt like a dummy for a minute. But was enjoying the heck out of them for the rest of the day.
Amen my fellow brother in Christ bringing glory to God and an off-road video oh yeah I wish I was doing that way back when I was doing my videos absolutely amazing scenery God bless!!
Thanks man. He created these incredible places for us to explore and experience. I'm just lucky enough to be in a place that I get to do that in a fun way with good freinds, and my beautiful family. It's an incredible way to get closer to him.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong Yes sir I go out in the woods sometimes on the weekends after a long work week I had an O2 Sonoma crew cab 11 in of lift I had a channel all about it sold it a couple years ago I've got the newer ZR2 now!
@@waltersteffensthezr2man431 nice! It's just good to be able to get away from the chatter and constant noise!
Ur blessed my brother love for you🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you.
Do you have any more information on the 2wd wye pipe?
What kind of info are you needing?
What model 2wd did you get the wye from? The 4x4 one is right in front of the front axle pinion
@@gozuki44 I got one from the same year truck as mine, just a 2wd version. The 4wd one goes under the front driveshaft. So when you solid axle swap the truck you would need to modify that to clear the new front driveshaft position. The 2wd one doesn't loop down, so it works well in a solid axle swapped truck.
Yeah there underrated for off roading.
I would agree!!
#solidaxlesunday 🔥
Think they can't 😮
Oh yeah s10 love😂!
What axle gear ratio you running
5:13, but would go with 5:38 if I were to redo it.
Will it run highway speeds with that 4.3
@@e954rr2 yea, does 70-80 in the flat lands no problem. Hills you gotta run it a little, but still maintains 65 or so. Did an 800 mile trip of mixed highway and dirt over 10 days. Had my rtt and almost 800 lbs of gear and still did fine.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong nice
What an amazing build. Thanks for sharing all the info and making this video.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Not many people do SAS and its cool you are building one yourself and taking pride in it. Ive done one to my 83 S10 with a V8 swap and did a 69 Bronco HP44 with Chevy knuckles so its stays 6 lug to my 98 Tahoe. You brought back some old memories when I remembered on my 83 the steering was backwards and was going to put a full size gear box on the outside of the frame before finding out the astro vans were reverse. That info back in 1998 when I built it was not available online and found out well just looking for a steering box at U-Wrench It. Im getting ready to start working on another dune truck and was considering the Nv3500 transmission as im also a fan of manuals but dang are they hard to come by.
@@PostalRedneck yes it's definitely something to take pride in. I think anyone that puts their heart and soul into something should be proud of it. The steering stuff is definitely an old school trick. That's a cool way to find out about it. I love cruising the pick and pulls. As far as the nv3500 goes I would maybe look for a 4500 instead?? I'm having strength issues with my 3500 and 40s. I will be doing a video soon on swapping to an nv4500.
Hi got a 98 gmc jimmy 4x4 want to loft it up. I live in remote area of Alaska any advice and what axles transfercase setup you have loft and size of your tires? nice rig man that thing is nice
Thank you so much for the question.Honestly it's a pretty broad question. I would love to answer it. But its going to be quiet the conversation. If you would like, you can dm me on Instagram or email me and I would gladly go over that with you.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong thank you
Watching your video for the ebrake and running disc brake on the rear look into the Cadillac elderado brake calipers. They come with an ebrake setup built into the calipers from the factory. May need to modify or build new brakets for calipers but could be something to use and keep ypur rotors and add an ebrake relatively cheap.
Thank you. I did know that, and I appreciate the input! That is definitely an option for the future. I believe there are a set of calipers off off a newer style caddy as well that would bold right in place of the s10 calipers though. That's will be my first option when I get to that point.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong yes the caddy elderado is the car i was speaking of. I beleive they came off an early 2000s
@@1994Nic1994 that's great, thank you!
@@ClinkenbeardStrong you are welcome! Good luck with your build! Its turning out awesome!
Hi I'm a new sub! Like your videos. I'm building a DAKOTA for the same reasons you mentioned, especially #1 lol Here is a constructive comment: no music when you talk please. It's very distracting, I can't always make out what you say, even the CC has trouble keeping up. Keep the videos coming!! Cheers!
Thank you for the suggestion, and thanks for watching!!! Dakota's can be a cool platform. Have fun with your build.

Well said my friend!! Spending our last night in a cabin in the great smokie mountains of East Tennessee. Don't want to go back to Florida 😂
Sounds like either of those locations are beautiful. Just gotta find the fun in them.
Heck yeah l like it !! i wish i didn't sell mine!!
You could always build another!!
Very true my friend I have a real soft spot for the S10 crewcab!
@@waltersteffensthezr2man431 they are neat little trucks. It's definitely a "dream" build.
Hey clicking beard I grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Northern Michigan My favorite tree was a blue spruce!! Merry Christmas buddy to you and your family.
Sounds like a fun gig!! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!!
I want to modify mine like this I'm in Michigan
The only way to make that come true is take that first step! It took me two years to build mine. Waiting to find the right parts for the right deal. I'm rooting for you!
you did it yourself or took it to a workshop everything you did
I did it all myself. I enjoy the process of building it almost more than using it.
That's the first manual swap crew cab I've ever seen I always wanted to do that to mine!! Awesome build my friend.
It's actually a really simple swap. I'm gonna change it to an nv4500 this winter hopefully, and will do an indepth video on all that!
@@ClinkenbeardStrong well at least you had a two-door 4x4 Blazer you could take apart and have all the pieces you needed and knew exactly how they all went back together which is awesome

Thanks man. Have fun with your new build!!
Roughly how much did I cost to do the SAS swap? Looking to do it to my 4 door jimmy just trying to get a idea in my head price wise
That's a really hard question to answer! Mostly because prices have changed over the years, and it really depends on how you go about it. But I would have to say it's probably close to a couple Grand just to do the front side of it. Just to give you a rough idea I paid 3300 bucks for my truck, and have close to 9k into it at this point. But that does include everything that I've done to it.
You can come and work on mine too if you want lol
Lmao. 😂
What a GREAT rig man!!! I'm the cheroke XJ guy myself ( wife's profile ) and I'm in the middle of a LONG time dream build 1 ton swap 4 link on my only and current 98 but 11th overall XJ I've owned at the moment and this has me re-energized after watching just this lmfao😅 👍
Awesome, and thank you! Keep on rocking!! There's not much more gratifying than getting to build your dream.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong True enough word's... and built not bought means alot!😉✌️
Swampy lol
Awesome truck, hey when you did the manual trans swap did you get any check engine lights and did you have to use the manual truck’s computer? I was thinking about doing that to a 4dr blazer
If you don't do anything with the computer, you will get a light. But the truck is still perfectly driveable. I had a guy that's local that does LS harnesses reflash my computer to tell it that is its a manual, and give it a bit more power. I've heard that your local GM dealer should be able to do that as well.
Thanks for the info, I will try and find someone that can do that to my computer since in the state I live in the vehicle won’t pass smog with a check engine light on even if it’s not emissions related
@@714montoya I would start by talking to your local dealer.
