    This channel does something I’ve been requesting a few other Mac channels to do. They sit there and spend multiple videos in a row talking “rumors this,” and “next iPhone that,” when they could spend the off-season between big Apple events doing real Apple content like this iCloud how-to. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea-and it may not get numbers like other Apple-related content-but it’s far more practical and useful for a viewer. Regardless of the variation in performance of videos about tutorials/tips vs reveals/rumors, this is the RIGHT way to run a channel like this-even if the content isn’t as frequent.
    As for the video itself, I feel like most cloud platforms have offered free services since the beginning as a way to get people dependent on the platforms. I’m not above paying a small amount for cloud storage, especially since I don’t have to purchase the equipment to maintain my own backups. Unfortunately, Apple has gotten very strange about how they manage iCloud, and at this point I think it needs a bit more streamlining.

    Great video! Would you like to do one on the space taken by "Documents and Data" by some apps and how to delete it?
    Why is Reddit using 1GB of storage on my phone? Or Amazon using 600MB?? There is zero need to keep any kind of history for this apps and there seems to be no clear way to delete it besides removing and re-installing each app.

    • @jarboer
      @jarboer 3 роки тому +3

      It's cache data like temporary photos, videos, and other data the app downloads. To remove it some apps have a remove cache button (like Snapchat). The other way to do it without deleting the app is to go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data. Then either delete certain site data or press Remove All Website Data. Either way will require you to resign into sites and they may load slower since it has to re-download the data, instead of using the cached data (like for site icons and images). It's also important to note the Remove All Website Data will DELETE ALL OF YOUR SAFARI TABS, I learned this the hard way. So if you have tabs you'd like to keep bookmark them, to bookmark all of them hold the book icon in Safari and click Add Bookmarks for # Tabs.

    3) integrate that teeny tiny 5GB so well, that switching to another solution is SO DIFFICULT, the average user is heavily directed towards paying up.
    4) not develop other solutions (wifi) or at least point out how to do "offline" backups with your computer (iTunes backup)
    The thing is: even if other ways like local wifi backups to the computer existed or the existing ones were pointed out: I'd argue that MANY people would gladly spend 5 bucks a month for having a safe, secure, reliable (so NOT your one prone-to-failure HDD/SSD in your computer) photo storage, ready to be shared everywhere with everyone at any time
