True. If you trying to show off it's possible that you drop your stick. But if you grab a new one it's normal. The guy who made that video maybe doens't even play drums...
As many have already commenting here: these drummers are not failing, but saving the beat and performance with their ninja-fast actions of grabbing a new drumstick in between one hit. Kudos!
These aren't fails, literally every drummer has dropped sticks before. If anything it impressive that they can continue the same beat in time, and unnoticed by the crowd, with only one hand until they grab an extra stick.
Kudos for not losing the groove !! Awesome drum work ! There will always be haters , don't let that bother you . Keep playing like you play ... the haters will fade away .
Kudos for not taking yourself too seriously and just going for it regardless of previous failed attempts, and mostly being able to laugh it off, it's a great thing for young up coming drummers to to be exposed to the idea that enjoying yourself should always remain prioritized and the flare will eventually catch up if dedication is present and doubt isn't
I couldn’t ever understand why a lot of drummers have to try and be flashy and show off just play the fucking drums man and this is coming from a drummer
I've never been bothered by stick tricks I use them alot but I do what all these drummers didn't is learn the song then throw in tricks after I know the song
I don’t think this is truly a fail considering the drummer never misses a hit and is quick to grab another stick... that is a win if you ask me. Keep up the great work
And kudos to the knit of the drum community for such support and positivity, especially when this platform is notorious for extreme bouts of negativity, makes me proud to be a part of such a demographic
I'm impressed that Mr. White for the most part didn't miss a beat. Whenever I gig, I have at least 3 pairs of backup sticks easily accessible around different parts of the kit in case one goes flying or breaks. I personally have enough trouble holding on to the sticks sans tricks, so I keep the twirling to a minimum.
"trouble holding on to the sticks sans tricks" Off topic lol so excusez-moi hein, but I'd like to know if "sans" is also one of these french words we can use in english? I'm french but I never heard we could tell "sans" instead of without lol and I like it. Hahaha. Bonne journée !
@@acon2211 So I took French in high school for 4 years and I guess I retained a small amount lol. I don't recall ever hearing it in conversation, I guess it's something that just flew out of my mouth lol. Anyhow, peace and love!
Robert Taylor why should he show off and ruin his drum part by Failing his stick tricks, when he can play very good, that’s just unnecessary as hell, but that’s just my opinion and you don’t have to agree with it....
@@roberttaylor6374 seeing how it seemingly never works for him shows that it’s useless. From a crowd perspective I couldn’t give two shits if the drummer does stick tricks. Only 15 year olds are impressed by it lol.
These aren’t “FAILS” at all. These are awesome recoveries. A stick being dropped is not failing…especially if the beat is never missed. If a guitar player breaks a string, but is able to recover by playing the same note on a different string, that is epic.
Sometimes if you're in a long string of shows you like to have fun and be a little flashy, hell if nothing else then to entertain yourself. As a drummer I've always felt I was on an island behind my little, not many see me so hell yeah I'm gonna toss sticks and be flashy!! Also it is a way to give your hands and wrists a break sometimes, Lord knows about halfway through the final set before your day off you are sore and banged up.....so let's have some fun!!! some use it for timing purposes also. Hard to explain unless you're a drummer. Awesome recoveries...I love drummers that have fun playing...after all no matter your level, isn't that why we all play???!?!
They all seems to me great drummers its happened sometimes when playing for sometimes hands get sweaty so sticks slips. And all the drummers recovered superb good that's what I saw.
Frustrated by unnecessary stick twirling that often results in dropped sticks and makes an impressionable younger generation think this is how to properly play drums, sure
As a 20yr plus hobby drummer. This happens even with the biggest names in music its why every drummer always has extra sticks. Like the others have stated missing the beat is a fail. Same goes for guitar players as well.
Dropping a stick is natural. I have been playing drums professionally for 32 years and to call it a fail, no it is not! People who do call it a fail, does not know anything about drumming!
I had extra sticks in my hi hat tripod, on top of my kick and hanging from my floor tom. Sticks can fly easily if you wipe sweat away with your hand. I always kept a small hand towel nearby as not to get sweat on my hands.
Thats why never do stick tricks in live performances Its only good when you are playing in a studio or doing a drum cover as you can always retake the video I get the point that it looks cool and entertains the audience But dont forget that theres still a 1% chance you'll fail even if you're already so good at it
This is a cleverly disguised plug for this guys band, surely...because these are less fails in the sense of bad drumming, and more; a very talented drummer tires to showboat and drops a stick sometimes Nearly 1 =m views so, well played
People dont realize how hard it is to drop your stick and keep the beat while you find another stick. Im still trying to figure it out after a year of constant playing.
I'm actually impressed as fuck that he keeps that beat going. Seems like a cool dude. Favorite one was in the rehearsal room and hit the other bandmate lol
In my first drum performance (in a contest) I performed a duett with another drummer. He dropped a stick (and it landed between all the stands) and he had to move his hihat to retrieve it since he had no backup. I was watching in horror and chugging along. And recently I hit the guitarist who came too close to the drums with a dropped stick. He was good at ignoring it.
All the fails were stick twirling or showing out. None were clacking or hitting the rim, missing a cymbal. I've dropped sticks it happens not often, but I have.
“Drummers who drop sticks but don’t drop beat.” Fixed title.
I agree with this
Exactly I was gonna say... these aren’t any Lars ulrich fails.... tbh half the time I wouldn’t even notice or classify these as fails😂
@@garrisonjohnson8399 I know right?!? Not sure why they titled it that way. 🤷🏼♂️
I agree brother. There were no "fails" at all.
No way. If you try to do stick twirls and drop the stick its a 100% complete fail.
Title: drummer fails

Fuck name for it vid. Mabe the preson who up loaded is much better?
Yes. I do Agree
Exactly nearly all are great recovery
That's perfectly right
Those recoveries though.
easy if you have them ready by the dozens lol
My drum teacher trained me so much for this, and it’s very useful honestly 😂
This guy needs some glue on his sticks.
* tho
;-)
Legends say he's dropping at least 2 sticks per song to this day, and still never messed up a single beat

....but while covering Katy Perry ???? ;-)
he dropps them because he's throwing them around. He did not drop them because they slipped out of his hand while actually playing.
I see these as drummer WINS!!! My SOUL sinks to my stomach every time I drop a stick. To play it off like these cats is impressive
Finally someone who experiences the same, always my heart skips some beats.
I always keep a pair of stick close because you can drop them from your hands sweating..plus all the twirling isn't necessarily.
Kudos for not losing the groove !! Awesome drum work ! There will always be haters , don't let that bother you . Keep playing like you play ... the haters will fade away .
True
0:46 there's no crowd lol
Cause its a cover band
He's playing katy perry what did you expect
What’s it the top right corner then?
its normal when you play on a festival in the morning
Playing Katy perry in a park with about 30 people and he thinks he needs to twirl his sticks
Ben playing 52 years it's happened to me several times but as long as you can recover it's all good it's just part of the game keep rockin

I came here to call out the title, but that good work has already been done. Drummers drop sticks from time to time.
When you have to play a slow mo to show the drummer has 'failed'
I love how they all have a spare stick just ready to go 😂
I think that early on, a drummer gets good at grabbing another stick. These guys came out of it great.
I couldn’t ever understand why a lot of drummers have to try and be flashy and show off just play the fucking drums man and this is coming from a drummer

The Title should be “Drummers dropping their sticks”
Better title: “How To Fail and still be successful”
Rule #1 of stick tricks - always have extra sticks. Also rule #1 - don't drop the beat. Nailed it!

Hey, people like a show, sometimes you drop a stick or 2, that's not a fail.
