Bedrock Breaking - 100% Reliable! (Minecraft Java 1.16)

- In this video I show you a fast way to get on top of the nether ceiling, and a fast and easy way to Break Bedrock to be able to get back down. Some of the 1.15 version no longer work because of an apparent change on the way explosions are calculated in 1.16. All you need is a block, a lever, two regular pistons, a trap door, one obsidian and two block of tnt. This method is 100% reliable requiring no luck, and you can punch a hole in nether ceiling in under 30 seconds. With this technique you can break any unbreakable block, not just bedrock. The reason this noted to work for 1.14 and 1.15 is because it relies on trap doors being able to push the player down. You can make this work for earlier versions if you have wings and can jump-fly-laydown in time to place the pistons as shown.

Yesterday I finally finished removing roughly 560 bedrock to make a hole into the abyss (Dark Souls reference). The method I used was basically the same, but far less consistent and ended up using roughly 45 stacks of tnt and took close to 14 hours. If only this video came out like 3 days ago...

Hi EagleEye621! In your description, I think if you put the timestamps at the beginning of the line instead of the end, youtube might automatically detect them and help your viewers navigate. just a tip for everyone, insted of installing a auto-clicker mod change you place/interact whit blocks setting to one of your letters on the keybord. for exaple i used the letter "v" cus when you do that and just hold it, it places blocks as fast as if you had a auto-clicker mod

This was so much easier with the lever up there! I did it in two tries, unlike 30 or 40 tries where you have to flip the lever, then get into crawl mode. Thanks!

so just discovered this now and want to give a tip to mac users. Holding down a key has a chance to not do anything if in your settings > keyboard > repeat keys is off and the delay is slow. Crank the settings to max for this to work

OH MY GOD! ive been looking for a new way to do this on the modpack I play with... It worked so well. The creator disabled every single other method I have tried and this one worked fabulously.
Edit: I just tested it on the server I play on but its too laggy right now, and takes like 15 seconds for the tnt to blow up,. Its not working there right now. Ill have to wait until less people are on.
second edit: ive tried 2 stacks of tnt on the server. No luck sadly

There are tons of online tools that will convert overworld to nether coordinates if you don't trust yourself on the exact math (even if it is nether x&z = overworld x&z/8). Depending on which portal you build first you have to take some extra steps in order to connect it to the other side. There are plenty of informative UA-cam videos that cover the steps. The TLDR is that you take the coordinates of the most central bottom block of your nether portal and put those into the calculator. Then travel to the opposite dimension without loading the first portal (or destroy the one created when you use it) and build a portal where the same bottom block is the X and Z coordinates the calculator gives you. If you can get back without loading the portal it's much easier. If you have portals previously built in the area your nether roof portal connects to it will still be an absolute nightmare. The y value is more or less inconsequential because nether portals connect using euclidean distance; this is distinctly different from most of Minecraft which is blocky and processed via taxicab distance.

Definitely the y coord. If it thinks a portal is closer on the y coord then it will link to it. The nether roof is at y=128 so you will need to put your overworld portals near that. It is good to have two portals on both sides. One that links to the roof and one that links to the normal nether
Same here. If I have multiple portals in the over world, it will always direct me to the same portal in the nether, same thing in reverse. Do I just have to build the portal where the nether/overworld portal should be?

This video helped a lot. If you don't have an auto clicker or don't want to download one, rebind your place block to a key on your keyboard. holding it down does almost the same effect as an auto clicker. I did this and got it second try. This video saved me too as I was on my last few tnt

im curious as so how exactly this works, since pistons arent supposed to be able to move bedrock and bedrock itself has a blast resistance of like four million. whats the SCIENCE behind this? :o
When you place the piston facing down, it thinks it had a piston head extended (because of the previous powered piston), and when it tries to retract it, bedrock is replaced with the piston head
basically you are tricking the game into thinking that the piston head already extended where the bedrock is (the game knows it can extend up as it is, and you replace it before the game understands)... so the arm retracts and the game leaves an air block where the arm should have been

I'm just glad I won't be needing to make a creeper farm any time soon since previous methods were inconsistent. I still need to finish building my storage facility and fill out some of my maps, got a villager trading hall I need to finish. I have a mending villager already but no roof yet. I'm glad I can set aside the Creeper farm for the time being, I still want to get my hands on a lot of green concrete for it. I think I remember putting some tuh un tuh in the storage and it shouldn't be hard to find.

Also an extra tip incase you don't have an autoclicker, you can change the block placing button to spacebar from the controls, if you hold the button it spam clicks, worked nice for me

Thanks so much! I tried alternative methods on a server a while ago and wasted so much time! I just used this method in my survival world and mined out two bedrock in 3 tries without an autoclicker. Left a like and sub! :)

Do you know how to check if the server has blocked it, by the way I love your channel. I was wondering if you do any tips on how to grow a channel.
test if you can do it consistently in a single player creative world. if you can, but can't get it to work on your server, pretty good sign that is why.
just have fun with it... most channels don't become 'jobs' in the sense that you can make your living out of it (including most of the really big channels, mine being pretty small), so if you are not having fun you are doing it wrong.

Once you get into doing this a lot to make like a 5x5 hole or somesuch you can put the lever on the block you attached the trapdoor to and only use 1 tnt. The one stuck to the piston. But you need to already have a hole made so you can fall down to place the next piston since you no longer have a trap door. You can also do all kinds of variations on it based on the shape of bedrock you're dealing with. As long as an upwards facing piston with TNT on it blows up its own lever and you're using an auto clicker to spam the down facing piston it usually works. Of course if you're doing this en masse then you're better off using a 9x9 square of redstone dust with a lever in the center, search "breaking bedrock with redstone lag"
Ye it's not 100% reliable tho, idk if I'm doing something wrong, but sometimes it just doesn't break the bedrock

Thanks very much. Using your method, I broke a 7×7 area in the nether ceiling so that I could fast travel from portal to portal from the ceiling. It took a lot of time and 2 deaths(because I forgot to put the piston a few times) but I finally did it. It was one of the first things I did since I updated and entered the nether. Thanks a bunch. Now time for some debris mining
RIP those deaths... did you accidentally move over to far and get hit in the face with the tnt?
Once I forgot to put a piston so the tnt that's supposed to be extended by the piston fell down and killed me. Next time I slid too far and got out of crouching position and got killed and lost my items( one explosion killed me, another destroyed my items). I didn't lose anything precious though, as I thought that could happen and stored all my precious items away

thank you Thank You THANK YOU... I had SO many issues with the other methods where I had to quickly press the lever, then crouch under the trapdoor, then engage the auto clicker, then position myself... I just wasn't precise enough, and it frustrated me so much! This method allows you to position yourself before you even start and then just slide over, making the process far more friendly. Amazing! It worked the first time after trying the other (very similar but more difficult to time) methods over and over again.

does this no longer work in 1.16.1? I tried 5 or so times and every time when i autoclick on the edge of the obsidian right where you were in the video the piston i place places upside down (head of piston facing into bedrock). I followed every step carefully and tried both methods of autoclicking you described but I never end up with the same end result. In the video once you're done your piston is facing upward and the bedrock below it is broken. Every time I try it, after i'm done, the piston is facing down into the bedrock, (opposite direction to your end result) no bedrock broken.
this does still work, but I have heard reports that some servers have started adding mods/plugins that break it. Try in a creative test single player world to make sure you are doing it correctly.

I've also had trouble in 1.16.1 with this, but I did get it to work a couple times now. Not entirely sure what makes it more reliable yet, but a couple things: 1) I accidentally placed the trap door on the lower block at first, not sure if this makes a difference (note that on the upper block as shown here it opens again when activating the lever, but that's OK) and 2) I seem to have better success by spamming right click to place the piston rather than holding it clicked. Off to try it on my server rather than singleplayer now.

also, auto-clickers or the key rebind will have more success than rapid clicking yourself.
Note on this method (really any bedrock breaking method): If you're on a server and your ping is over something like 50ms, you won't be able to place the piston fast enough and this will not work. In my experience if you show an admin this video and perform the stunt in front of them, explaining you can't break it because of ping, they're usually pretty understanding. Otherwise find a friend who has

My only issue with this is that in my hardcore world I'd need a totem of undying every single time I do this to survive the TNT.
I show this in survival with no armor and take almost no damage... as long as you do it correctly.

@@DK-jd5tb if you are or know the admin, you can turn off the plugins that block it (ask on my main discord and some of the admins there can help you)
