Very very few car stories make me cry. . . But when I heard that Larry passed away 2 weeks after Dylan got that running and gave him a ride, I cried hard! You did Larry right Dylan. Even more so by taking the car out to Power Tour. I certainly hope the family does see this video. In honor and Tribute to Larry. The car lives on through you.
That was me and my dad on the side of the road in the Regal. Thanks for offering your help, everyone was incredibly helpful while we figured out our fan issue. People gave us water, Gatorade, cookies, relays, wire, etc. The helpfulness and generosity of the car community always impresses me. We did make it inside the speedway and made the trip to Columbia and back to Atlanta the next day.
Rest in peace Mr Larry I'm sure he's smiling down looking at how well his old Camaro is doing... I'm surprised you don't have a super bird added to your collection
I'm not really surprised he doesn't. They're ultra-collectible and most known examples are squirreled away by collectors. If they're for sale, they're mega pricey, even by classic car pricing standards.
I just recently subscribed to your channel. I like your videos. I'm a 73 year old lady living in East Tennessee battling breast cancer. God has blessed me and I enjoy watching.
It was a great thing you did getting that Camaro cleaned up and running again in time to give Larry a good look and one more ride in her and to know it will live on and be loved and cared for by a new owner. My father loved finding rundown neglected cars all his life. When he retired he set out to restore his favorite cars that he had collected a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Coupe a 1957 Oldsmobile 98 Coupe, a 1959 Oldsmobile 88 Coupe and a 1959 Oldsmobile 98 convertible. A couple of years after he had finished restoring the last one now with nothing to work on he found a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday sedan that was built in California and spent most of it's life on the west coast. it has a rust free body but very sun burnt and worn out seats and door panels, no carpets or engine, transmission, or radiator. he owner had welded in motor mounts for a small block Chevy V8 and was starting to make it into a street rod but ran out of money and was letting it sit in an old barn. So my then 81 year old father bought it saying it was too nice of an original body Olds with a rare Cadet Viser over the windshield to be maid into another Chevy powered hot Rod. In the next two years he rebuilt the whole brake system installed a 1959 Oldsmobile 394cid. rocket engine and 4speed Hydromatic transmission that he had rebuilt. It now runs and drives like new and he was waiting his turn to get the interior redone. When he found out he had stage 4 Cancer at 83 years old. I told him that the car would be completed just the way he wanted and that all his cars would be taken care of by me and my brother and added to our collection of Oldsmobiles that our family has collected over the years. He passed away April 15 2023. I will have his last project car at the Oldsmobile national meet in Dayton Ohio in August 9-12 2023. With a sign saying THIS IS MY FATHER,S OLDSMOBILE!
I live vicariously through all you care restoration UA-camrs. In 1998 when I was 17, I bought an 87 Dodge Daytona for about $500. Owner wanted to get rid of it, it belonged to his brother who died the previous year. He just didn't want it and I was in the right place at the right time. I spent the next year and all of my savings and paychecks from my job basically rebuilding it. Engine ran great, but there was a lot of work and body work needed. It was my pride and joy until about 20013 when I lost it. Long story. I still don't have a vehicle today. And I miss road trips. It was nice what you did for Larry, dude.
Thank you Dylan for giving a dying man his last wish. You did right by this man, an very honorable. We all can only hope our last dream comes true. Great video, great content, great tribute. I believe Larry was with you on this trip, looking out for you. RIP Larry.
It's really impressive that a car built during a time when engines didn't last over 100,000 miles ran that well and completed that long journey. Loved traveling (virtually) with you! *Rest well, Mr. Larry. Thanks for the memories.
I love how Larry was able to see the car fixed up before passing. I purchased my late grandpa's truck shortly after he passed and completely fixed it back to the way he had it. My grandma was fortunate to see it just before she past. Keep up the good work Brother.
Larry's Camaro made that trip like a champion. She is doing what he'd want, putting miles under the tread. You did a great thing by honoring his memory, Dylan. God bless.
Thank you for taking us on Power tour 23 with you....!! I may be stuck at home (Memphis), but I feel like I was actually along for the ride !...and you were correct about the stretch into Bristol..That was very uuber beautiful.....Thanx again and keep up the good work.
Everybody seems so cool and have open arms on power tour. Its like every auto enthusiast comes together and just gets along, has fun, is respectful, and reaches out a hand when in need. And you don't need a high dollar ride to participate. My goal or bucket list is to get an old car running and safe to throw wife and kids in and go someday. This would be my version of a griswald family vacation.
You sir, did a great thing using the Camaro to do Power Tour. I'm sure Mr. Larry would be proud. My wife and I hope to see you around some of these events as soon as our Duster is ready to hit the road. Keep the old ones going. Brand doesn't really matter. Cool is cool...
There are only about three or so channels that I will invest over 45 minutes of my time watching and yours is one of them. Very fun and informative content. Thanks for sharing.
Man, there's not a lot of nicer guys on UA-cam than Dylan. And it's hard to think of a better thing to put on while polishing up the frets on an old Washburn than an hour and a half of nice relaxed cruising. And a nice regular fuel pump break...
Here's to Mr. Larry! A little piece of his spirit was in that Camaro during the power tour. Wish I had the money and energy to do the same what Dylan has done with that machine and others!
What a fantastic adventure. Thank you for sharing. Man Dylan your positivity is just so contagious. Wish more people were like you. I'll take a car like your Camaro all day over some big dollar shop build any day.
Damn man, you did Larry proud. I am so glad you got to give him a ride before he passed.. and what an epic trip. He was right. Good car! I'd love to see the interior get fixed up.. new set of balanced tires.. fix the a/c and smile at the others on Power Tour. :) Cheers man, great stuff!
Really sad to hear Mr. Larry passed away 😢. He went happy knowing the cars in great hands like yours Dylan. Thanks for sharing, it's a solid old camaro!
I just know that Mr Larry was riding shotgun with ya for this whole trip with a big ol smile on his face getting to see his baby back on the road and doing so well!!! Good on ya brother for doing what you do and for having a good heart...
Rip Mr.Larry..i'm sure he was a gear head like the rest of us and you taking his camaro on power tour was the ultimate show of respect and a salute to Mr. Larry
Stapleton 42 Did a real in depth tour at Petty's garage. If you haven't seen it already. Awesome Video man. Condolences to Larry's family, glad he got to ride in it one last time.
Amazing transformation!! Was a pleasure to finally get to meet you at Bristol. Thanks for keeping classics alive and influencing others to do the same.
I'm a day late watching this. This may be one of the coolest videos you've done. 👍 Me and my buddies in the 90s used to turn wrenches on so many of these cars and trucks....not because we wanted to go to Power Tour (which probably didn't exist back then), but because we had to get to work the next day. 😂😂😂 I'm very proud for you of what you've accomplished. You're a good man. You're the perfect example of good solid raising. Please tell your parents I said so. 👍
Had a 79 Camaro.. She had a 305, 4 speed stick. . Not a power house by any means, but I put some go fast parts in the motor & opened up the intake & exhaust .. It sounded good & Im guessing I added 50 horse or so . Made it a nice cruiser .. Wish I still had it ...
Rest in Peace Mr. Larry was very cool of ya to give him another ride in the Camaro Power tour looks like you guys had a blast and so cool you got to see the petty shop
DYLAN McCOOL thank you Friend for taking the previous owner Larry for his last ride in his Camaro, As men we usually Don't show emotion but This wonderful story made me tear up hearing about Larry passing away I hope that you can share this video with his family Showing how well the car made out on the Power Tour for Good memories God Bless 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪😃😃🙏🙏🙏
RIP to Larry. Glad he got the one last ride. I live 20 minutes from Bristol TN. If I knew you were in this I would have came. Followed you for a while would love to meet you!! Amazing chanel!!!
I'm very sorry to hear of Mr Larry's passing. Mr.Larry's car did exceptionally well, with your expertise Dylan. A few bugs to take care of all along the way with Coles truck but you guys made it anyway. There was really cool seeing Petty's garage 👍 thanks for bringing us all along for this great tour. 👍✌️🇺🇲
So very sorry to hear about Larry's passing, however taking it on power tour and excellent tribute to him, he loved that car. A fine young man Dylan, your parents must be very proud of you. They did an excellent job of raising you.
Take it light, Mr. Larry. Thanks for allowing this video to be possible. As for Cole's truck, man oh man. I had a car that was just as temperamental where it found a way to break down on the way to the grocery store much less a road trip. Safe to say, that car is someone else's problem now...
Glad you were able to take Larry for one last ride in his Camaro, I love watching you guys on UA-cam that make memories complete for some of the families or previous car owners keep up with the videos Dylan thank you…
Another great one Luka! Back in the day when I would thumb through magazines (in the 90’s) I thought I would never know any of the people in the magazine…or have anything in a magazine. Now I can text or call some of the people I admire. 😎👍🏾 Pretty cool when you have faces and names to go with the builds. Anyway, appreciate these videos! Keep ‘em coming!
So Glad that Mr Larry got to ride in his old Camaro. Also thank you for showing a couple of shots of that beautiful red white and blue AMX. Made my day. Keep up the great content.
My first car was a 1979 Monte Carlo. Man I loved that car, it had the same 305 V8 in it. That's a tough engine. Funny story is I drove it from NC to Ohio with the water pump seal all but gone where it was leaking out the weep whole. Never turned it off the whole 9+ hour drive because the battery was shot and had no jumper cables. I would fill up the reserve tank with bottled water when I stopped and got gas. Not once did it leave me stranded. But when I finally got to my destination I could feel the heat coming from the fire wall was so hot it was burning my feet through my shoes. Woke up the next morning got a new water pump and she ran perfectly till the day I sold it. I wish I would have never sold it I still miss it to this very day. And that engine was the most reliable motor ive ever owned. Glad you found you a gem and love to see you honor your promise to the previous owner. You found yourself a new subscriber look forward to seeing your journey with the 79 and new projects to come!
I'm sure Mr. Larry has a big smile on his face knowing that you're taking care of his car, it's extremely sad to hear that he passed away, but at least his pride and joy, that Camaro, lives on
And this is a wonderful Good memories in Larry's tribute To his family and his car God bless you DYLAN McCool Friend for taking the car to Power Tour and Richard Petty's Garage awesome 😃😃💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍
My son and I went on power tour, back in 2017. We thoroughly enjoyed. I would love to do it again, but thanks for bringing us along for the ride, next best thing to be there.
RIP Mr. Larry. Good on you Dylan for helping to make one of his last wishes come true. As far as Summit Racing goes, I live 15 minutes away from the OG location in Tallmadge OH. It is nice being so close.
I've gotta admit that when you said that Mr. Larry had passed I shed a few tears. I thank you so much for getting his car back to him for one last ride. He was and is so proud of you for fixing it up to be road worthy again. RIP Mr. Larry .
I'm so sorry to hear that Larry had passed away. You gave him a fitting tribute by taking the Camaro on the tour. He would have been proud. Good job, Dylan.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Larry. Very glad that Dylan was able to give him another ride before he passed on; hopefully Mr. Larry had a small amount of comfort knowing his beloved car was with someone who would continue to love it, too.
I love all your videos Dylan. Great to see how much fun and freedom you have in the States when it comes to cars. I am from NSW Australia and our motor vehicle rules are very tight. Flat towing, illegal. No air cleaner, illegal. open wheels without full mud guards, illegal. Loud exhaust, illegal. Any exposed rust, illegal. We have yearly registration inspections and fees around $1,000.00 per car. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot..Burnouts = fines and loss of points from your license. 12 points demerit.. you're out. We still have fun but our cars have to be up to scratch. Keep on salvaging these old gems. I have an iconic Aussie muscle car in the process and watching your videos inspires me to get motivated. Cheers from OZ. JD
Very awesome dude, thx for making a around 90min video, longer is better you hit the sweet spot at around 90min, I hope this becomes a UA-cam "trend". ( sorry to hear about the guy you bought the car from.)
Hey Dylan thank you for the video I enjoyed it and I'm happy that at least Larry got to go driving in his vehicle one last time before he passed away so sorry to hear that
Looks like you had an awesome time and it's been fantastic to watch you on your journey. Glad that you guys didn't have any major Mechanical issues as well. Those wheels look awesome on the camaro btw. I had put a set very similar on my partners 76 VK (Australian) valiant regal sedan. As always cheers for the awesome content and keep up the good work!
Sorry to hear about Larry, at least got ride before he went onto after life, R.I.P., seems like nice event that I might just do Next year, i really need vacation, and honest road trip. ,
Hey Dylan, Awesome video. You're always fueling my craving for an older American vehicle (Scotland here). I hope it's not rude to ask, But do you put different prayers on the back window stickers? I respect it a lot 🙏🏻
Very sorry to hear of Mr. Larry’s passing but so glad he got to take one last ride. And on a lighter note, it sounds like Cole may wanna do a Hemi swap on his square body, and I know just the fella that can help him with that. 😉
I think the lesson Cole's truck can teach everyone is a valuable one; yes, wash, scrub, make it shiny...but also maybe drive it a little bit, just to shake it down before you try to drive it 1,500 miles.
I have a photo of myself in front of the county hall building in Covington from 2006 when I came over, it’s great to see it still looking as good as it did in the first episode of Dukes. RIP Mr Larry
Great heart felt video, and coverage to Power Tour. It was so great to chat with you in both Charlotte and Bristol last day. I was the subscriber who said to take the Mustang II next year, and I'll cruise with you for support in my 07 Mustang GT. God bless you for being a Man of Faith, I'm sure you had an Angel looking down named Larry, and I can't wait to see you hopefully next year, cheers, - Wright Sublette
R.I.P. Mr Larry. You had some good taste!
What a nice fellow. 😢
I have to second that Mr. Larry. I had a 82 Z28 pace car edition, but I wished it was at least 1 year older.
May God rest your soul sir, we'll see you on the flip side. I heard from a good source, there's a hot rodder section.

Agreed. 👍
Hi 👋 Dylan I glad you made it to Atlanta you 🚘 looks so good 😊 you have a safe trip 😮
LARRI ?

We did make it inside the speedway and made the trip to Columbia and back to Atlanta the next day.
Nice car. I had an 86' like that and was dark blue on top.
Young man you sir have done all of us gear heads proud by taking Larry's car and spirit with you on Power Tour. You are the real deal.

Amazingly beautiful ride.
Rest in Paradise Mr. Larry. You seemed like an amazing man.
I love how Larry was able to see the car fixed up before passing. I purchased my late grandpa's truck shortly after he passed and completely fixed it back to the way he had it. My grandma was fortunate to see it just before she past. Keep up the good work Brother.

I've gotta admit that when you said that Mr. Larry had passed I shed a few tears. I thank you so much for getting his car back to him for one last ride. He was and is so proud of you for fixing it up to be road worthy again. RIP Mr. Larry .
Thanks for bringing me on your hotrod power tour adventure amazing video and Views @Dylan McCool
RIP Mr. Larry . You did him proud , Dylan .
Awesome to see this Beauty Back @Dylan McCool
I'm so sorry to hear that Larry had passed away. You gave him a fitting tribute by taking the Camaro on the tour. He would have been proud. Good job, Dylan.
My 80 Z28 will be on power tour next year! 80/81 Z28s are my absolute favorite.
Sorry to hear about Larry, at least got ride before he went onto after life, R.I.P., seems like nice event that I might just do Next year, i really need vacation, and honest road trip. ,
RIP Mr Larry that is the most beautiful vintage Camaro I have ever seen. I am impressed and that's not easily done
Thank you Dylan, love the work you do as well as all that you teach us! Keep it up buddy!
A great tribute to old Chevys and how well they run. Mr. Larry would be proud. R.I.P.
Saw you on Power Tour, wish I got to come over and say hi. Gosh I was overwhelmed by the amount of cars.
Hey Dylan, Awesome video. You're always fueling my craving for an older American vehicle (Scotland here). I hope it's not rude to ask, But do you put different prayers on the back window stickers? I respect it a lot 🙏🏻
Dylan that was a great power tour and a great service to Larry I’m happy to see that and proud to watch you good job
I’m at about 1 hour into “Power Tour…the Movie.” 😂 Thanks for all the great content Dylan!
So happy to see this car on the road. Mr. Larry would be proud
I’m sorry for the family loss and my prayers and thoughts will go the family rest in peace Larry
God bless Larry. He’s in that car rippin’ gears on that 1\4 mile in the sky 🤘🏻
So sorry to hear Mr Larry Passed away 2 weeks after the last video May he rest in Peace @Dylan McCool
My grandfather thought me that if you fill the back of the pump full of grease, it helps with longevity of them.
I have a photo of myself in front of the county hall building in Covington from 2006 when I came over, it’s great to see it still looking as good as it did in the first episode of Dukes.
RIP Mr Larry
Thanks for taking us along, it was great.
WOW This is such a great video. I think I'm going to share this on my 78-81 Camaro Restoration page on Facebook. Thanks!
