As good as the Roadkill story of this trip was, seeing the out-of-the-way places you fellows were able to get on camera suggests that the current Roadkill editing team is missing out a lot on great side stories in favor of highway B-roll. That's unfortunate, as seeing forgotten bits of the US used to be a highlight of the older episodes - from peeking through a junkyard fence, or the wonderful stop at your father's roadside shop. And that's saying something, because Roadkill #127 still managed to be one of the absolute best episodes in a very long time, definitely thanks to the competence of the Rubber Duck and it's powerplant, and you amusing fellows having fun and keeping it cool during this entire endurance run. And this is coming from someone who's pretty ho-hum about drag racing. Also, no disrespect to Freiburger - whom I appreciate for his knowledge and every last effort he's put in these last 10 years to bring epic and crazy stories to video - but I was very glad to be spared a Roadkill episode with him trying to ramp up enthusiasm by yelling about _everything_ - that's really getting old. It's the cool, collected modesty of the show that made me stick with it when it first came out. #127 hit right to those roots, and that's probably what guarantees it's place as a classic RK ep!
the RK team is the best there is. They only have so much time to put all the content in the show though because the show airs on both the internet and cable, with commercials.
@@FinnegansGarage Fair point, Finn - as a fellow editor, I get it. Just seems like too much good stuff has to wind up on the cutting room floor to make the episode fit the 40-45-minute slot. Would be a nice perk if the MOTD versions featured extended-length cuts.
About a week after you guys went thru Tulsa, My daughter and I drove Route 66 from St. Louis to the Midpoint in Texas. I definitely recognized the parts thru Tulsa . . . Especially Buck Atoms behind you when you were working on Rubber Duck.
Hopefully this will be the last time I miss the fun. I live 20 min away from Texas Motorolex but never watch their calendar of events. Now I've loaded their app on my phone. 😎
You need to get a hold of Holley and have them send you a big box of Hydramat for your cars so that you can pick up all the fuel in the tank and not worry about the pickup being too high or whatever. That stuff is amazing with how much it can suck up. If you completely cover the bottom of the tank it'll pull every drop of fuel out of it. I love Minis, especially the S.. a lot of fun to drive and plenty of headroom even for my 6'10 all torso frame, only downside is they are so low that getting up out of them is hell on the knees and back.

@@FinnegansGarage eh, they are the best, but they definitely do away with some of many, many b roll shots and replace them with interesting things.
When Fin says "Day three, brother, the look on Daves face is priceless, "We're on day three, huh."
About a week after you guys went thru Tulsa, My daughter and I drove Route 66 from St. Louis to the Midpoint in Texas.
I definitely recognized the parts thru Tulsa . . .
Especially Buck Atoms behind you when you were working on Rubber Duck.
Love the firebird!! I think I enjoy this channel more than roadkill. Good work boys. 🤘
Man the Rubber Duck is Mint👌🏻🇺🇸🤘🏻
Thanks for the behind the scenes, really appreciate it now i can't get mtod in Australia anymore.
Dig everything you do but best ep in a long while, keep em coming as we are missing MT/RK in Oz
So it's like a scavenger hunt along the way and race at the end... Nice.
love riding with Mike cool guy finn
Could watch that "hop" at launch all day.
