6 years later, this tutorial is still active and used.
I've used your idea of "diamond knot" as a 'spherical core'.
Result is a not bad for a key ring/key fob (1 colour only)
    Thanks from France 🇫🇷👍

Thank you! I'm just starting to learn how to use paracord, and your videos do a wonderful job of breaking down complex knots into a series of simple steps.

The cord you need depends on the number of passes you are going to make. I'd say take 4 or more feet for a single pass on your first go.

I want to do a golf ball (1.5 inches across ) . How much cord do I need to do the double cord shown at the end of your video ? Does the pipe tube need to be 1.5 inches too or larger ? Also I want an added length for a good lanyard to swing it for self defense. Thanks.

I found this difficult. Each time I'd go through, step by step, one cord on the left would be over, the other under.
Still working on where I'm going wrong.
    Great project though.
    I'm intending to use a 22mm or 7/8" ball.
    Thanks Mark

hi. I saw that you used a bit of pipe to help make the globe knot. I was wondering what size pipe is needed for the size of the marble.

It's that little bit at 4:40 where you say 'tighten the knot around the core' where I go from perfect to a tangled mess... ;-/

+Malcolm Morris same here, that tightening is hard part! But still, should be doable :)
in fact, just did this and tightening must be done slowly, and It'll turn out fine

A late thought, you can also use a smaller mandrel. That is what worked for me on the smaller (tiny) globe knots.

May I ask how many passes for a 1 inch core? or length of cord I should start with?

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  9 років тому

      dday2086
      Hey there!
The core I used for this demonstration was probably around 3/4 inches, so I would assume you would need 3 or 4 passes. At that point you could also try a larger globe knot. The thing with globe knots is that there are many versions, with different numbers of faces.
You may also like cylindrical turk's heads for covering various objects (the pineapple, herringbone and gaucho knots all look very nice).

      Hey there!
Often times this knot is used for that purpose:

The marble is seen from the outside.

Ridiculously hard to tighten it. Even after my 10th try i still cant get it. It always left me with 1 space extremely uneven. At the verge of giving up.

So I've been trying for the 8th time this Bullshit of globe knot now and I just do everything exactly as in this video, until I need to tighten the globe around my marble and it always looks horrible after. I wonder if people here really tried it or just watching the video for entertainment. This method is not working at all. spend almost 3h hours doing this shit and its always wrong in the end.
