- Along with Craig Yates I take a look at some of the most photographed scenes in the Peak District and hope to convince everyone that creating your own photographic memory is always worth the effort. In this episode we look at The Roaches, featuring the mighty Hen Cloud and journey to mysterious Lud's Church

I have often said, EVERY photo is unique , It is a moment in time never to be repeated. Other people may have taken a very similar image from the very same spot but NEVER at the moment you took it . Wonderful video and great banter as always from Stadler and Waldorf. !!!!
Cheers Chris!
Another great video from you both ...
Cheers Simon
I'll be watching, for myself it gives me ideas on locations to visit, having limited time to get out and back I probably wouldn't have done what I have without videos like this and your Easy Walks series. Cuts out a lot prep work for me that would stop me getting out otherwise.
Thanks Tom. Hopefully there’s a new Easy Walk coming your way this week!
Think this is great idea for a series. I’ve shot a lot of the “iconic” Peak District places but will certainly be going back again and again to get better/different shots. Think people can be a bit snobby about them sometimes and feel like they have to get something unique.
Cheers Paul. I think the response has been very positive so Bilbo and I will be planning another soon!
Hi Eddie. Another great collaboration. I love watching you both and the friendly banter. I'd also love to see the outtakes 😂 You definitely should shoot the iconic/honeypot locations but then try and find other compositions at the same location that maybe haven't been shot before. I also find Luds Church an amazing location but very very difficult to photograph. I can't actually remember seeing a stunning image at that location 🤔 Looking forward to future vlogs with you both visiting the 'Icons' Great idea for a series and a great soundtrack included 😊
Thanks Tufty. We have a huge list of options as the Peak is bountiful, but we will of course always try to do some wanky Tog stuff as well. :)
"You have cut that bit out"
"Yeah I will"
Proceeds to let the world know.
I’m am trustworthy
Nice video Eddie
Thanks Steve!
If you go in the opposite direction and ask 'is it a good idea not to bother taking these shots?' then the answer is a resounding no. It's a rite of passage, and one that shouldn't be denied just because they're classed as being 'well shot' locations. It's easy to believe that just because we, as photographers, have seen these locations photographed before, that everybody has. That simply isn't true. My wife had never (knowingly) seen a photograph of Mam Tor before I went and photographed it many years ago, even though it's probably the most photographed place in the PD.
Absolutely
I think the idea, premis of what you want to do is brilliant and like a book or tour guide, there has to be continuity, having lived on both sides of the Peak and travelled across many of its routes at all ages and times, as a kid, young and old adult, as I was a fireman in GMC Mossside and SYFS Sheffield Elm Lane, from early 70s to mid 90s I'm a photographer and now live in New Forest.
I've watched HT and other photographers and was pleased to hear you defend & expose click bait. I do think you should work on your editing and definitely have the names of the places, imagine wainwright's book without locations, the Roaches was somewhere I hadn't seen or hard of, however I was none the wiser as to its location at the end, love the banter and the views on gear, opertunity missed on failing tripod!
I'll revisit and have subscribed, but a better balance needed, well done for grasping the nettle. PS A little history and info about the places is always a good filler like the steps, where it looks over and although not got to the church, but a little history on that or anecdotal reference, I also collect cameras and watch shoot like a Boss and Martin Henson from Ilkley as in the Moor ba tat! Definitely a couple of goodens to watch! Regards David 73
Thanks for watching and commenting, David. We both want to improve what we present and accept good critique, especially made with good intent.
Rest assured we’ll continue with this, but we’ll remain the characters we are.
Unless I get rich and famous of course… then all bets are off.
Really enjoyed this Eddie, like the collaboration between you and Craig. The chat at the end is a great part of the vlog keep the idea going.Watched Craigs vlog last night also enjoyed that.
Cheers Alan. Hopefully we can fine tune this and present more fantastic places.
Hi Eddie great video by the dynamic duo. I haven’t visited any location in the Peak District, so I have so much to explore. May I suggest that an idea might be parking location and postcodes etc for all these iconic places. At some time in the future a subscriber meet up needs to be at the top of the agenda.
Craig and I have already discussed and agreed to do a meet up. We’ll be looking at something toward the middle of the year.
Regarding parking and postcodes I’m far too lazy, I know. However I do think I’ve covered parking in the past for some of the locations. Especially this spot. While I’m here typing, The Roaches is straightforward, there is roadside parking all along the base.
Roach End however only has space for around six vehicles and you MUST stay within the lines. You’ll get a ticket in a heartbeat if not.
You can reach Lud’s via Gradbach which also has a parking area but my ‘be early’ warning is paramount there. Especially during school breaks and weekends. You can slack a little outside of that.
@@EddieSkelson cheers Sir thanks for the info
another great video eddie keep up the great work. love the titty reservoir description lol
Cheers Jim! I'm just a manchild so expect a lot of that kind of thing.
@@EddieSkelson me to lol great stuff🙂
What've you done to your eye Eddie?
My ridiculous dog-hound butted me. Full disclosure, I was kneeling, teasing her, and she leapt up and almost butted me into a coma.
@@EddieSkelson 🤣🤣Sorry! I shouldn't laugh. I bet it was a very traumatic experience.
@@ashstubbings2603 she’s an adorable nightmare.
@@EddieSkelson Yes, I know all about that! We have adorable nightmare too! 😂😂
Too much gab and no photography.
Fair comment Roger, although there is actually photography. I imagine you fell asleep during the gab and missed that. Understandable.
