I will be forever confused about this case. What happened to blood spatter experts finding shooters spatter on his clothes? What about gun powder residue on his hands. Did he wash his hands strip his clothing put into laundry and put on new set of clothes? And what in the world is a cop doing asking google how to stage a suicide. Jesus christ, if anyone should know its a cop with a 30 year career behind him.Sloppy.

Oh you bet. My heart goes out to Amy who had just ONE, ONE family member on her side - her younger sister. I am familiar with this type of "man". I am familiar, unfortunately, with this type of "man" connected to a family of power, to a job of power, and who manipulates everyone around them, including, despairingly, the victim's own family members. If she had done ANYTHING in her past, ANYTHING......depression, etc. she would have been in BIG trouble. As it is, they tried to use her "state of mind"........what a tragic case. And those texts of his to his 'whatever she is, made me want to puke with their emotional immaturity. I thank all the good cops, her sister, the prosecutor, those females that did not buy his lies. Many are grateful to see this.

Since already having his hands full by catering for a mistress; no wonder he could not envision himself raising a new dog 😅
Had witnessed how a cheating spouse's attention can - in a wink - be diverted away from basically all interests at his own home. It takes only one strange woman to purposefully move in on and seduce a married man; to completely destroy him, his marriage, and thereby causing him to lose basically everything he and his wife had been working for over their entire lifetime.
Beware of giving in to temptations as such. All of us are tested - repeatedly - over time. Once one had given in, it's as if tied with a strong rope.

I was cheated on more than I would have ever imagined, leaving me with an STD. It’s been very difficult to forgive myself for my stupidity, but I think I’m almost there. Do not believe it was stupidity that kept you to persevere within that situation. In the end each one of us should be able to live with ourselves - knowing that we did what God had required from us - irrespective of others' behaviour. In the process we grow in many ways, while learning valuable lessons, and being challenged to bear much good fruit - all towards extending His Kingdom.
The question always being to what extent one is willing to lay one's life down - taking up one's cross - as a living sacrifice - not a enslaved to one's own will, but obedient according to our Father's; thus following in Jesus' footsteps.
The road alongside an unfaithful spouse might be longer or shorter - according to God's individual plan for our lives. At any time He does not acquire of us more than what we can handle - with His help, and in due season He provides for an outcome; this towards working all things together for our good.

If your spouse cheats on you. You have scriptural grounds to get a divorce. That means God is giving you approval to divorce your cheating spouse if you choose to divorce. You would still be a good Christian.
However, my exhusband was unfaithful and I did get a scriptural divorce but I even felt I let God down even though I didn’t. Divorce and cheating is so hard to deal with when you marry a person you want to stay with forever.
So I can understand why you stayed marry longer despite the cheating you were hoping he’d change absolutely you didn’t want to divorce. You’re not stupid. You have a pure heart. I’m so glad you have a faithful husband. I found a faithful husband also our 2nd wedding anniversary is May 24th. I hope the best for your marriage and life. Nothing disgusts me more than when a man murders his wife, and her family sides with him despite compelling evidence, including he’s having an affair. Her mother and sister took the stand and said derogatory things about her. Angry people shoot who they’re angry at. The gun shot residue guy is an idiot. Her hair was long but it wasn’t thick. I’ve been a hairstylist for 25 years and that hair piece was much denser than her hair. The coroner reported what he saw, he had no motive to lie. He was having an affair, looking up accidental deaths, and the coroner’s findings didn’t match his story, but they prefer to believe she committed suicide rather than face the truth. How alone that poor woman must have felt surrounded by that toxic, judgmental lot.

Yeah, welllll. . . . easy for us on the outside to say. As is so very common among married couples, it's quite possible their bedroom went dead years beforehand, shut down by a wife who simply wouldn't any longer. After suffering through this myself for over 20 years, you cannot imagine how crushing and emasculating it is, both mentally and emotionally. Judging from the testimony of the mother and sister, I'm going to say that's exactly what happened. Some men just ride it all the way out and live with it, get prostate cancer and die before their time. Some men get divorced. And a very few deal with it like Brian did. Certainly not saying I condone it, but I can kinda understand it.
You notice that his mistress wasn't as attractive as the wife was. Doesn't matter in any way. If you're dying of thirst, once you find someone and begin drinking that sweet nectar, it just doesn't matter.

As a retired police officer, this was one of the most interesting episodes of 48 Hours I've watched. I will also say I've been retired for 25 years. And a lot has changed in crime scene investigation. It wasn't called that when I attended specialized evidence-collection training. Yes, I have worked suicides. The first red flag to me was the woman having shot herself in the head. I was taught women who use guns to commit suicide don't typically shoot themselves in the head. Or do it someplace in the home where it would make a mess. Don't write this off as being sexist, this class was in the late 70's. I found the testimony of the defense' ballistics expert most interesting. A woman's thick hair blocked gunshot residue. And I agree with his statement the conviction should not be based on GSR. There were other red flags shown and a very meticulous investigation was enough to make the prosecution's case. Nice try on the defense side with the GSR testimony. Had the defendant refused to talk when he was read his rights and the defense pursued his statement of trying to grab the gun more aggressively, he might have gotten away with it. Might have.

I found the GSR test by the defense very deceptive and wouldn’t acknowledge that. Where the gunshot went into the head she didn’t have that much thick hair to absorb all the residue if it was fired at close range. Glad he’s convicted. His appeal will be useless

    • @_helmi
      @_helmi Місяць тому

Hmmm I think you've made a very good point and dare I add that this rotten family is pretty much a cult. For instance, RIP Amy but their family pretty much enabled her to have this temper outbursts for years. Like when the other sister testified that she witnessed how nasty Amy talked to his husband, she knew it was wrong yet cringed about it. The cognitive dissonance is real. Then how these people are very perceptive minded people - the whole signing of the letter thing, how her own son believes that she could pick up the gun etc. and no amount of scientific evidence could change their minds. Brian was also part of cult family in which he thought he could get away easily. Kinda scary because this is very subtle to see and breakaway from. I kinda want to know the story behind that one younger sister. She might have a thing or two to say about her own family.

I actually have encountered, first hand, a suicide where I found no gunshot residue on the victims hand and there was no soot or stippling on the wound. The explanation was that he had very dense curly hair and the gunshot residue was absorbed by the hair and also went inside of the wound from hard contact. Of course there are other inconsistencies here but still very interesting.

Hair preventing GSR from landing on the skin is an interesting fact. However, the demonstration was ridiculous; there's no way the victim had that much hair at her temple. Her hair may have been thick or she had a lot of hair (density) but the amount of hair in the demo was simiilar to shooting someone in the back of the head. Remember, Brian said she placed the gun to the right side of her head and showed it at the temple. Even if there wasn't any GSR there (forensic failure for not testing) there would've been a contact burn if she held it to her skin/hair. Wonder if they tested for GSR on hands and possibly gloves?
Also, in the demo it was clearly synthetic hair and I wonder if that affects the test? Synethtic hair has different properties to real hair.

I think you need to see more people. He did not show her holding it right to our tempo. Maybe it was or only seeing the snippet and I’m not gonna go seek out the transcriptions but why was there not gun residue test done on her hands and his hands? Remember, he didn’t touch the gun he would’ve had no excuse her having gun residue on his hand her brother came in and moved the gun out-of-the-way, not him so that would’ve been almost cut and dry.
