  • Earlier in the year I did a two day road trip on the BMW F800GS. Here's a few thoughts on this fantastic machine - and some footage from the beautiful Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia...

Finally! An actually useful and informative review! You gave info on turning, feel, and real world use beyond 15min ride. Out of 20 or more review, yours is maybe the second with useful info about riding the bike. Thank you!

thank you glad to hear you found it useful :)
Since this ride i've also ridden a Honda Africa Twin - if you're looking at the F800GS I suggest giving the Africa Twin a go also!

WeNeedASaga Yes, the Africa Twin is on my list. I just heard about new model/options for 2018, which makes me want to wait for it this Summer.
I look forward to seeing your informative Africa Twin review! And maybe a comparison with the F800GS? Please!

Hi there. Great VDO, thanks for posting. Did you ride the bike in duo, fully loaded? If so, is it comfortable for the passenger ? Is it easy to handle, when fully loaded ? Did you go off road in duo ? I plan to drive in Asia, ion very bad roads, with my wife, and I wonder if this bike can handle that.

Nice video thanks! Was wondering if you have plans to review the F800R. I’ve heard complaints about the vibration at highway speeds and I’d like to hear your perspective and how it compares to the MT-09 and the Street Triple since you have experience on both.

Hi Joe, i owned a F800R & i heard the same things about vibration on the highway. I did not find that with my F800R, very smooth bike to ride. They are fantastic to ride.

Good review. A couple of things to mention. You can adjust the suspension while riding , I do on mine all the time. A Madstad screen is awesome on this bike, get one if you buy it. And finally tank size is 4.2 gallons On the US version. Happy riding!

Hi, good Video. How tall are you by the way?

    • @WeNeedASaga
      @WeNeedASaga  6 років тому +2

Thanks mate - I'm 6'7" and the bike is comfy for a guy my size.

Great thanks. I'm just about to buy one and I'm not far off your height. It was the screen issue you mentioned but seems most riders opt to buy the taller one.

Yep, there's always a way around it, us tall guys just have to work a little harder for it ;) Good luck!

I had the GS800 on Teneriffa and La Palma. The 800 is much more agile than the bigger africa twin. Just test it.
I don´t like the big BMW 1200 GS. For me these are too heavy. So, avoid these expensive offers on a southern Islands!
But the 800 is an easy going country road bike. It feels like a bicycle, simply great!
For me the GS 800 was even much better (more torque) than my former favorite, the Transalp 700 (I had the 700 on Sardenia).
By the way. All these Islands are good destinations for bikers who want to ride during winter! :)
