When Britney did this video with Chase she said she was going for a Devin Townsend feel and I think they nailed it. Amazing song, album, video and reaction. Do Cleanse the Bloodlines next please!
Yes! When I first heared that song I was like "Woah, that's a wall of sound structured by a drummer playing like a machine gun." just like Devin Townsend would do. And that made sense to me, he is canadian, too. Only thing missing was Devin doing a devilish howl and some growled screams! I'm so happy right now, this is awesome!
The first time I saw this video I cried like a baby. I’d been working from home by myself for like 6 months, hadn’t been able to see any of my family, friends or teammates in nearly as long. That last shot at the end paired with the song just hit me so hard.
I remember listening to the song on spotify and liking it a lot, and then I watched the video and it hit different. The timing of it being months into the pandemic definitely made me wish to be able to see my friends again, and had me pretty emotional by the end.
I’m a 40ish year old dude who hasn’t cried since he was 13; some of my favorite bands include Vintersea, Black Crown Initiate, and Lorna Shore - but UTA never fails to bring a tear to my eye when I listen to them. Truly a special band.
Completely surprised that you have not reacted to "Tonight We Ride". It's so epic in so many ways. Love your channel man and I love your reactions (subbed quite a while ago). Glad you're loving UTA...they're truly special and one of my favourite bands right now. Keep up the stellar work my friend!
Britney said this: "Our protagonist, The Immortal, is once again awakened at the beginning of our story, but this time he is in an unknown place: a ship out in deep space. He wanders alone for a time, reflecting on his misdeeds, searching for his new master. Finally, he finds him, and learns that it is the Grandson of The Matriarch, our antagonist. The Immortal had taken The Grandson’s father away some sixty years before, to be sacrificed by The Matriarch in a ritual to achieve immortality (the events from Apex) and now the Grandson seeks revenge against The Matriarch with the aid of her own weapon, The Immortal." -- I haven't wrapped my head around this album yet, though.
Gonna have to get poutine when we get to meet up, man. UtA is still probably my favourite band I've heard in a very very long time, and they make me very proud to quote the old commercial: I. AM. CANADIAN!
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! LEGACY As I was wandering the world Trying so hard to find you To give me purpose in this life I'd lost And as I learned to forgive you For all you'd done Destiny opened a door And showed you weren't the one Worth searching for But as time wore away at my will to carry on Only vengeance could take what I'd give to see it done When I finally found the words The ones I knew would wake you To take you from her and to make you mine Somehow all I felt was hollow Please tell me why Nothing is ever the way You think that it should be It's not the same As we stand in this place and you wonder who I am Can't you see in my face I'm his son, his earth and ash And you are here as servant one last time Together we will bring her to the light No more hiding away in your apex again Not when spending your days as a slave is near an end I promise this, I vow to set you free You are the answer, you are my legacy
Thanks for this Tank. The emotional response, to nearly every track, gets me too. Thanks for recognizing our national awards and UTA's ascent to this level. Oh, Canada! 🇨🇦
This song was a huge surprise. I was caught off guard when I heard this track on the album. It sounds so different from their usual songs. So much power but in a subdued kind of way. It's fantastic. When the video came out, that was another surprise, in the middle of the pandemic, amid all the isolation, it really impacted me emotionally seeing them walking around the city. For the song to end with them coming together and being happy to see each other, I burst out crying. I think this is a magnificent time capsule, reflects a lot of what many of us have been feeling during this whole fucking thing.
Agreed. Even if they aren’t first time reactions Something like a Favorite Friday, Whacked Out Wednesday, etc where you react to songs you have heard and say why you like or dislike them along with the usual Tank Facts and gear breakdowns would be awesome
I finally got the chance to sit down and listen to Apex and Abyss and I couldn’t be more hyped to see them on tour! They’re one of those bands that you know you’re getting the same quality on stage as in the recording
April 2022. I'm a lifelong metalhead that just discovered that this band isn't at all what I thought they were!! I bought APEX and ABYSS and the rest is history 🤘 These guys, and gal, are truly SPECIAL! My new favorite band; by a light year 👹🤘
it's so beutiful to see teardrops in your eyes while listening to this song. Music is the highest state of art for me and it gives incredible emotions. even I always cry when listening to some songs... it's just amazing!
For these kind of emotions I suggest you to react to a video of a new band to your channel called The Unguided, and their song "heartseeker". Very beautiful song and a very inspiring official video
Thanks for reacting to this Tank! My favourite song from my favourite album of 2020. This songs gives off such positivity...it is brilliant. As a fellow Canadian; couldn't be more proud of UTA getting the recognition they deserve.
i love this song hits me in the feels from start to finish her voice is so haunting the guitar solo in the middle pushed the feelings over the edge.her story telling is awesome take care tank c-ya
And I know you've come to take me home I can't pretend that I want to go But I know that death it comes for everyone of us And I've lived a worthy life with no remorse Earth and ashes, when I'm gone will still remain
Cannot get enough of Apex and Abyss, so sad it took me til this past year to discover these guys, but I'm hooked for life now, and this song is just amazing, every time.
Ah, nice! This is my personal favourite...sort of. The whole album is too amazing. I'll no doubt miss the premiere as usual, but I'm glad you're finally getting to it, Tank. Happy belated b-day, too. I was sorry to see I missed out on your Letterkenny themed celebration, but I hope it was a blast! :)
Very few song make me cry but this is one of them. This song is so damn good and I love the video. UTA never disappoints with their videos or music. So glad they're starting to get recognized for they're amazing talent. Love this band and I can't wait to see them live. Awesome reaction my man!!!
Man, there's so much talent in UtA it's kinda ridiculous - they definitely deserved the win! And I gotta say, I'm definitely feeling a Devin Townsend vibe with this song, Jacob did an excellent job mixing and mastering it! So enjoyable!
9:26 I recognize that landmark in the background. Its the Rosewood Hotel Georgia in downtown Vancouver. It was built in the 20s and has been turned/upgraded into a 5☆ hotel. Its across from the Pacific Centre Mall and not far from the Airport.
This is my favorite song of them. Its one of those rare gems that hits me deep on an emotional level everytime i hear it. And i couldnt tell you exactly why. Just incredibly beautiful.
One of my favorite new discovery bands ever, they totally deserve the win. Thanks for introducing me to them Tank! I watched this Vid when it came out, if you go back in time and look, I suggested you react to this when it came out! :) Side note, I agree on Mean Poutine, I used to go there all the time, as I am only an 8 hour drive from Vancouver BC, I actually live in Vancouver, Washington..I used to go to BC all the time to buy pot seeds from this seed bank, as it was still 20 years out from legal weed in washington...right.... anyways great reaction again man!
I love a lot of music. I love several bands. Yet, none make me cry on a regular basis as much as UTA. The fact that i am not alone in that just shows me how special they all are. Without fail, they do something remarkably...good.
It's hard for me to explain but I too had tears in my eyes the first time I listened to this song. I tried to analyze it and I think partly it is the music paired with her soaring voice is almost overwhelming emotionally but in a good way. There are other elements I'm sure contribute to its emotional impact of course. And yes this band deserves that Juno award!
From view I can see, it is Vancouver. The statue you see Brittany walking by is 'Gassy Jack'. The area of Vancouver she is in is Gastown Town- One of the historical areas of the city.
Now that you're through practically all the songs they've released videos for it's time to sit down and listen to Apex and Abyss back to back. It is a work of art!
Hey Tank, I really appreciate your enthusiam for UTA and especially this video. I particularly like your Canadian references (poutine, Molson Canadian, etc) For us in Canada the Juno is an important award, but even better would be a Grammy for UTA. I have been following you from your beginning last year and I love the way you are and how you convey your analysis based on actual knowledge of the music and behind the scenes(I am also a gearhead), I'm really looking forward to the next reaction. 🤘🇨🇦
Loved watching the reaction Tank! My favorite bit about the lyrics being in the video was they aren't always synchronized with the singing which felt oddly refreshing rather than jarring.
Where they stopped at the end is just outside the Steamworks brewpub (which was almost certainly closed due to the pandemic - Vancouver closed almost everything for many months).
Absolutely one of the best bands I have heard in a long time, and ever, for that matter. I love Maiden, old school Priest, tech thrash like Coroner and the Vektor, and the utter quality these guys embody has every right to be mentioned in the same breath for all the appropriate reasons. So glad for them and their deserved recognition.
I like that the song is about a sort of reunion between characters in the story, and the music video shows the band members travelling to meet up. You have to wonder if they had to go a while without seeing much of each other over the pandemic.
Annihilator is legendary but uta deserved the attention. Newer bands need the support and we need to support them. This is the only way to make metal evolve, change and stay interesting and relevant. It's funny how I call uta a "new" band while it's actually more than 10 yo. This also shows us how hard it is to be a succesful metal musician. The most popular bands like metallica, maiden, slayer are very old. I love them, I respect them but we need fresh and creative artists.
I am very excited for their upcoming tour. They are playing Atlanta with my buddy from high school and his thrash band Paladin and I'm going to lose my shit.
Indeed this song gets on your emotions, I don't know what's the special thing about it, just happens. Really epic and kinda "fulfilling"... it's great!
This song is definitely one we can say LET’s GOOOO UTA won? Hell yeah. I missed that. This band is amazingly talented. Most award shows snub rock and metal So much talent in this bad. If I’m not mistaken, I don’t they even had an actual full time bass player. They had a session musician
Hi Tank, Im only here for my daily reminder for Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize (live in Tilburg), well for that and for Unleash the Archers of course.... Lets GO!
I just noticed that there is another thing we have in common next to the love for a nice beard, the emotions flooding my mind when i hear good music. Nothing to apologize for here buddy, just shows your passion for what you love. If you ever come to Germany, I would love to get you a beer or two.
Abyss and Apex are fucking master pieces. Thank you for showing me this band, it is now my favorite of all time and ive bought merch from a band for the first time with them. They are just insanely great
EYYYYYY my homecity!!!! 100% vancouver! that weird curved building? not an illusion. it's the library. it's actually shaped like that. I TOTALLY MISSED seeing the RIckshaw Theatre when I watched this! such a dive but so many good shows there.
I find it a bit irksome that more reactive channels do not react to this specific Song, so thank you for being one of the few that did. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA as to when the new album is to be released, or early track releases???
Yes! More UTA!!! Edit: This one took a while to grow on me as it doesn’t seem to have the same vibe as a lot of other UTA tracks with it’s slower pacing. However, the context of the video really felt special. It’s a simple context, walking the city to meet with your friends, but releasing this video during the pandemic made it feel that much more rare and special of an occurrence as many of us weren’t able to do this. I love this video and it made me appreciate the song more than I did without it.
So, you're watching this to celebrate they wining an award and by the end of the video they're all hugging each other... I cannot be the only one who thought of this... Two vids on a row (well, one vid, one stream) on white T-shirt... lack of gigs is changing your wardrobe.. haha Thanks for the video, Tank! It's really nice of you to show your appreciation for bands' achievements this way! See you in the next one!
In a way I've been lucky that my workplace has never shutdown so I've been able to socialize with my coworkers. Others haven't been so lucky; being isolated from family and friends for weeks and months on end. Seeing four friends meet with hugs all around and cracking open a beer in the iconic Olympic Plaza in Vancouver certainly opened the floodgates of emotions...
Tank, you should apply for the bass player position. That would be awesome my friend. They are so good, and such cool people that I think they would be a blast to know.
Lol I lost track of your outro as I caught the background music and thought, "That's Bloody Detox, not heard that in a while.....I need to hear it now" so cheers for that :D No seriously cheers, I looove that song, and by extension City, so that's a perfect half hour to follow this up with. Anyway so glad you got around to Legacy and that's awesome to hear about the Juno Awards. I've seen this video and listened to this song so many times but I still get a mote in my eye. Britnay's voice, particularly on those lush choruses just hits your heart perfectly. I love the storytelling in it too, plus you were right tbf, they meet up and have what I can reasonably assume was a beer. Great reaction.
I love these guys too! Ty for letting us know about UTA for the Juno records! Do they need more archers for their army??? I will learn for them. You should definitely (not on camera necessarily) watch Britney's explanation of the plot from track to track from Apex all the way through the end of Abyss!
They deserve as many accolades for this album as they can get; truly top notch just like Apex. I hope in the future they can tour and play Apex and Abyss back to back with Tank and little Tankette in the audience.
Design your Universe (live Retrospect) / Unleashed (live Retrospect ), Cry for the Moon(live Retrospect) - Epica The Scarecrow (The flying Opera live) - Avantasia Burning Time (live) / Dante's Inferno (live) - Iced Earth
The story of Apex and Abyss is just as good as the music. It's an epic storyline carried over two albums. No one does that type of thing anymore but UTA did and I love it.
So glad you got to this one! There's another female fronted (symphonic) power metal band you NEED TO LISTEN TO! Ad Infinitum. Debut record during Covid called "Chapter 1: Monarchy". Pick a song, it doesn't matter. Fronted by Melissa Boney. Dude. Trust me on this one. If you love UtA, you will love Ad Infinitum too.
This song sounds so different but clearly still UTA. I don't know how they manage to do it. I still think they're one of the tightest bands I've had the pleasure of listening to. As for the video what a killer way of doing a lyric video, just casually getting to show off Vancouver while also showing your song lyrics.
OMG yes!! TWTSTL and Legacy are my 2 favorite songs right now. I would recommend Afterlife, Carry the Flame (no music videos). If you want to get away from this story for a bit you should also check out Tonight We Ride to just hear how ridiculous Brittney is with her voice and Grant's growls.
IMO you saved the best for last, this is certainly my most played song on the album. I just love Brittney's voice in this one, and the upbeat sound and tempo of the song.
Duuuuuuude this video makes me want to organize a post-pandemic meet up with all my close friends. Most of them have moved to Europe, but man it would be rad to just plan getting together like this and sharing a beer.
Another cool band that won a Juno was Crown Lands, for breakthrough artist. Crown Lands is a rock duo that sound like early Rush/early Zeppelin. Check them out, they have a few videos.
Nice shirt ;) when you finally listen to all the songs in order, the last song Afterlife hits hard. Also the track by track videos for Apex and Abyss are highly recommended. Brittney gives more context to the Immortal story.
This whole album blew me away...and that's f**in' rare nowadays. This song, tho...man, it hit me hard the first time I heard it. There's a beauty to it that you don't usually associate with power metal...but dammit, it's f**in' beautiful as hell...lol
“I love this band, man!” So do we Tank, so do we.
When Britney did this video with Chase she said she was going for a Devin Townsend feel and I think they nailed it. Amazing song, album, video and reaction. Do Cleanse the Bloodlines next please!
didn't thought of that when I heard it, but now you said it and listened to it again... I totally 100% agree. Its very Devi-like
They nailed the Devin Townsend vibe for sure. Such a great song.
Same dude. Same.
Yep in the feels
I’m a 40ish year old dude who hasn’t cried since he was 13; some of my favorite bands include Vintersea, Black Crown Initiate, and Lorna Shore - but UTA never fails to bring a tear to my eye when I listen to them. Truly a special band.
Completely surprised that you have not reacted to "Tonight We Ride". It's so epic in so many ways. Love your channel man and I love your reactions (subbed quite a while ago). Glad you're loving UTA...they're truly special and one of my favourite bands right now. Keep up the stellar work my friend!
One of my favorite UTA songs and as this melody takes you on a fantastic Journey, both instrumentally and vocal
Happy little Blast beats
Gonna have to get poutine when we get to meet up, man.
UtA is still probably my favourite band I've heard in a very very long time, and they make me very proud to quote the old commercial: I. AM. CANADIAN!
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
LEGACY
As I was wandering the world
Trying so hard to find you
To give me purpose in this life I'd lost
And as I learned to forgive you
For all you'd done
Destiny opened a door
And showed you weren't the one
Worth searching for
But as time wore away at my will to carry on
Only vengeance could take what I'd give to see it done
When I finally found the words
The ones I knew would wake you
To take you from her and to make you mine
Somehow all I felt was hollow
Please tell me why
Nothing is ever the way
You think that it should be
It's not the same
As we stand in this place and you wonder who I am
Can't you see in my face I'm his son, his earth and ash
And you are here as servant one last time
Together we will bring her to the light
No more hiding away in your apex again
Not when spending your days as a slave is near an end
I promise this, I vow to set you free
You are the answer, you are my legacy
Damn, really great stuff.... my first listen to Unleash the Archers... and down the rabbit hole i go, heh... thanks Tank!
Left a link to a good live in my comment, 3 more in the same channel.
@@luisnunes2010 Heh, yeah, just searched and working my way through those now, thanks!
@@danjmcs 👍
Awesome, man! Enjoy! They are fantastic!
Uta is so dang talented they are just absolutely incredible
Thanks for this Tank. The emotional response, to nearly every track, gets me too. Thanks for recognizing our national awards and UTA's ascent to this level.
Oh, Canada! 🇨🇦
Hi Tank, the leading advert had "What's going on" in it :)
Hey, Juno! Well deserved for ridiculous talent.
The most "Canadian" sounding song by them I've heard.
Rush, Devin Townshend, a bit of Triumph in there too
Haha funny enough, I was picturing it as a Protest the Hero song. Seems like something wild they would do as well.
Nailed it Adam.
I think this is a magnificent time capsule, reflects a lot of what many of us have been feeling during this whole fucking thing.
If I see Unleash the Archers content, I'm 100% watching it, my man. They're so damn good.
Agreed. Even if they aren’t first time reactions
Something like a Favorite Friday, Whacked Out Wednesday, etc where you react to songs you have heard and say why you like or dislike them along with the usual Tank Facts and gear breakdowns would be awesome
I finally got the chance to sit down and listen to Apex and Abyss and I couldn’t be more hyped to see them on tour! They’re one of those bands that you know you’re getting the same quality on stage as in the recording
I love this song, and their new album is amazing. Girlfriend has it in her car and it’s been on repeat since it came out and we still love it 😃
April 2022. I'm a lifelong metalhead that just discovered that this band isn't at all what I thought they were!! I bought APEX and ABYSS and the rest is history 🤘 These guys, and gal, are truly SPECIAL! My new favorite band; by a light year 👹🤘

So glad they won the award. I plan to see them in September in Phoenix. This is my favorite song off Abyss, so glad you got to it!
They are very great musicians... Thanks bro for sharing and spending time with us ❤️🤘🤘🤘
And I know you've come to take me home
I can't pretend that I want to go
But I know that death it comes for everyone of us
And I've lived a worthy life with no remorse
Earth and ashes, when I'm gone will still remain
Oh my gosh, my queen is back on your channel.
I never doubted they will rock this or even much more awards, they are my religion
Brittney has such a beautiful voice man, gives me chills every time!
A touching song. Romantic. Incredible songwriting… as always, from UTA.
Cannot get enough of Apex and Abyss, so sad it took me til this past year to discover these guys, but I'm hooked for life now, and this song is just amazing, every time.
Thank you so much !!! this is the first time listening to this band, love it
They're one of the best bands in the world, period. And the joy they bring is reflected perfectly in your face, man. Thank you, again, for this.
When people talk about vocals that can bring down walls, they mean Brittney's voice. The lady has the vocal power of a Goddess.
Very few song make me cry but this is one of them. This song is so damn good and I love the video. UTA never disappoints with their videos or music. So glad they're starting to get recognized for they're amazing talent. Love this band and I can't wait to see them live. Awesome reaction my man!!!
Another awsome reaction even withour gear.
You picked the perfect UTA video to celebrate their well deserved Juno Award!
Man, there's so much talent in UtA it's kinda ridiculous - they definitely deserved the win!

Couldn't be happier for my northern neighbors- well deserved (and earned!)
Really great! Solid, super talented group of musicians.
YEAH!! The patented Tank Tears made an appearance. I knew they would. It’s cool dude. Same thing happens to me.

UTA amidst the Vancouver skyline -such a perfect pairing of awesomeness!
Awesomeness from UTA AND Tank. Thanks Tank.

Another awesome UTA song, one thing to love is the variety of the songs on the album.
Abyss is all killa, no filla! 👌🎸
I'm a raging death metal head and this song overwhelms me and gets me to tears too lol I love this band so much!!
Another great reaction man!!! Always from the heart! Duuuuuuude we need to see you react to Tonight we Ride!!!!
Man you gotta do Northwest Passage next. Imagine taking a canadian folk song and making power metal out of it. Soooooooooooooooooooo good!
This song is definitely one we can say LET’s GOOOO
UTA won? Hell yeah. I missed that. This band is amazingly talented. Most award shows snub rock and metal

Kick ass! Another awesome UTA pick. Seeing them for the first time in September in Atl & can’t wait.
Two vids on a row (well, one vid, one stream) on white T-shirt... lack of gigs is changing your wardrobe.. haha
Thanks for the video, Tank! It's really nice of you to show your appreciation for bands' achievements this way!
See you in the next one!
Hahahaha. My wardrobe will never change!!!
They just announced a 23 stop U.S. tour! I'm going if they come anywhere near TN! Might road trip either way!
Atlanta is the closest. May have to make the drive!
Love UTA. Going to get to see them in August!
This might be my favorite song of theirs. Got lots of Rush vibes which I hella appreciate
🤔-🤘-🤩-GREAT!
Lol I lost track of your outro as I caught the background music and thought, "That's Bloody Detox, not heard that in a while.....I need to hear it now" so cheers for that :D
No seriously cheers, I looove that song, and by extension City, so that's a perfect half hour to follow this up with.
City is one of my favorite heavy metal albums ever made. 🤘
@@TankTheTech hell yeah and it hasnt lost any of its edge, it was joyous to sink into again.
Haha Tankette..love it.
Design your Universe (live Retrospect) / Unleashed (live Retrospect ), Cry for the Moon(live Retrospect) - Epica
The Scarecrow (The flying Opera live) - Avantasia
Burning Time (live) / Dante's Inferno (live) - Iced Earth
So... not only do we get a darn good song, but also a tour of downtown Vancouver and the Waterfront area. :) Nice. :)
The story of Apex and Abyss is just as good as the music. It's an epic storyline carried over two albums. No one does that type of thing anymore but UTA did and I love it.
Bro, thanks for showing this band. I love bands with powerful women voices and I will hear more of that.
Greetings from Germany 🤘👊
So glad you got to this one! There's another female fronted (symphonic) power metal band you NEED TO LISTEN TO! Ad Infinitum. Debut record during Covid called "Chapter 1: Monarchy". Pick a song, it doesn't matter. Fronted by Melissa Boney. Dude. Trust me on this one. If you love UtA, you will love Ad Infinitum too.
i f*cking love UTA! Britney's voice is so perfect for this kind of music and the drive they have is incredible!
I love them too, Tank... I love them too
This song sounds so different but clearly still UTA. I don't know how they manage to do it. I still think they're one of the tightest bands I've had the pleasure of listening to. As for the video what a killer way of doing a lyric video, just casually getting to show off Vancouver while also showing your song lyrics.
Love and Live it Loud! Cheers
One of my favorite tracks from their last album. I get some major Devin Townsend vibes in this song.
Duuuuuuude this video makes me want to organize a post-pandemic meet up with all my close friends. Most of them have moved to Europe, but man it would be rad to just plan getting together like this and sharing a beer.
This song is amazing,
but it's also a sequel of sorts.
If you haven't heard "Earth and Ashes"
.... ....
Another cool band that won a Juno was Crown Lands, for breakthrough artist.
Crown Lands is a rock duo that sound like early Rush/early Zeppelin. Check them out, they have a few videos.
lol As a Canadian, I am surprised you mentioned the Juno Awards. I've seen advertisements for the show but they mentioned only bands I didn't know.
Got my ticket to see them in September in Atlanta! UTA rule!!!
I may see you there!
