  • Diovan or valsartan treats high blood pressure. In the category of ARBs or angiotensin receptor blockers, the drug reduces the likelihood of cough, a major factor associated with the even more popular ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril or enalapril. Controversy surrounds falsified medical investigations in Japanese studies which led to major embarrassment for the Kyoto Heart Study. Worse yet, relatively recent questions exist about ARBs and their potential relation to cancer.

I take 40 a day or I get dizzy. And I take it at night. I do take Spironolactone because I take bumetanide. This is due to my severe heart failure I’ve had since about 2000. Idiopathic cardiomyopathy.
It seems I have reached a happy medium. I’ve been blessed to have access to some wonderful doctors and medications for which I’m grateful. I refused the heart transplant offer I had last October 2022. They said I would die in a couple of months. I was 150 lbs, on hospice care, had to use a cane or walker, etc. I’ve since gained weight, revoked the hospice care after a couple of months, and I’m working again.

diovan and valsartan are the exact same molecule, there is no difference. if you experienced a change by switching from diovan to valsartan maybe you got valsartan from a suspect source. There should be no difference

I currently live in Thailand and take Diovan (non generic) 80mg and it costs me $25 per month. It's over the counter, no prescription needed. Malaysia is even cheaper.

LOL, and people in america pay over 400 bucks a month for it under the new name entresto. recent clinical trials show that entresto isn't even as good as generic valsartan yet American doctors prescribe it like candy. the company was fined millions for illegally pushing diovan and are again under US DOJ scrutiny for it under the name entresto.

Thanks so much for all the valuable info on medications, I have a question, is it safe to take Metoprolol and Valsartan together?

    • @embededfabrication4482

metoprolol (beta blockers) are often prescribed with an ARB like valsartan it's up to your doctor to decide what is "safe"

note that "diovan" (valsartan) has been "repatented" as entresto. Recent clinical trials show that entresto isn't even as good as it's generic component valsartan.

Entresto is a combination of drugs. Valsartan/Sacubitril.

@@Archangels1 ya I know, I made sacubitril, it's a pile of BS, it doesn't do anything good.
