- Lowering blood pressure with losartan, the generic form of Cozaar, works as well as more expensive and widely advertised drugs. Many people ultimately need several different drugs to optimize blood pressure control. Generally this is due to inadequate attention to diet and exercise. Success in treating high blood pressure requires a low salt diet, generous servings or fruit, vegetables and nuts with elimination of simple carbohydrates.

Well I have been on it since October of last year and I only had side effects for a month, fatigue dry mouth I was thirsty and then it went away. The pill totally agrees with me now and it has balanced my blood pressure completely.

What if all 5 doctors including two cardiologists have tried every BP med and nothing works. I changed my diet and life style, best shape of my life. Lost over 120 pounds. No sugar, no carbs. My heart in great shape, kidneys great shape. But doctors kept pushing BP meds on me when it was only slightly elevated at the doctors office ( white coat and Central Apnea ) the more BP meds they put into my body, the higher the blood pressure went. Every medication made me sicker, some of the medications gave me chest pain, trouble breathing, passing out. Now losartan postassium has caused me to gain 120 pounds back. I now weigh 320 pounds, last year I weighed 200 pounds and muscular. The doctors and these medications have ruined my life.

Thank You Doctor Ken for this valuable information as you well explained the benefits of taking Losartan of which I am taking with Metoprolol and Amlodipine since I had stroke symptoms. Thanks to my cardiologist. Proper diet and exercise is the other added ingredient.
I was given Losartan. 100 mgs and woke up with violent shaking so fast with my heart pumping off the charts and it felt like every organ was pumping.
When I stopped shaking, my BP was over 200. I had to have my daughter go with me in Uber to the clinic

I was diagnosed with papiltations. I had had an EKG prior to the Losartan prescription. My ekg read normal and notation they thought this was the heart of a 35 yr old person. I am 72.
Allergic reaction.
I took it for the first time today and my heart started racing and Thumb threw my chest. Then I went in to sweats & hot flashes. SMH. I’m 36

I've had doctors trying to control my blood pressure for more than 20 years and losartan, amlodipine, perindopril, casartan and metoprolol all didn't help. It wasn't until I was on a diuretic that it came down except that I had a runaway heartrate until it was combined with bisoprolol.
The others helped for for a few weeks but I ended up needing higher and higher doses with my BP always ending up in the 160/100 range.
Now with diuretic/beta blocker combo (both low doses, ie 1/4 of the smallest available dose of the diuretic and 1/2 of the beta blocker) my BP is 115/70 now and has been for over a year.
Mine doesn't come down. I really don't care anymore. Glad your doc found a way and is working for you.
@@KH-xi9td The biggest problem with controlling BP through medication is that it only works when the mechanism that is causing your BP to be up is actually understood. The BP rule book says give class A drug and if that doesn't work try class B and if that doesn't work..... Guesswork. Most people give up. I read a very complex paper some 20 years ago where researcher had designed a computer program that required a whole bunch of measurements to be taken and the program would then give the combination of drugs to use. I can't remember where I read it or what has become of it. There is one thing additional I did, I had a blocked artery in the rear of my hear that they bypassed and that (I think) might have been a contributing factor.

Today i started Losartan 50mg..as my bp fluctuates from 150/ 84 /65 to 179/110/65 ...even 201/ 118/ 65 and so i finally asked for a medication as i am a singer entertainer and my breathing is out of whack when the bp is very high..my heart is of a 21 year old so my cardiologist told me 1 year ago and as im now 68 i need to sort my bp out, i dont drink booze 16 months, never smoked , i recently had a kidney stone lipotripsy right kidney 2 stones and ive heard that treatment can cause hypertension, i have left big kidney stone but it may be ok to leave well alone if its not in a bad position within my kidney..

Im 80 and on losartan, but my uric acid has been terrible. Meat and fish make it worst. My iron has been low for over a year. less than a 100 Last year I cut in half and stated taking a 1000 meg Taurine also because I have no engery.Hard t know what to do.

Sallt is not the problem. Sugar, process food and seed oils, vegetable oil are the biggest factor.

I had an afib from enlarged atria top of my heart, after blood thinners and change of diet and exercise Im on 100mgs of Losartan potassium once a day and metrolopol tartrate 50 mgs 2x a day. I didnt hear you mention combination that I take. What’s your opinion Doc, makes me pee alot and sweat alot when working. It runs in my family just about every family member is hypertensive and overweight we all weight 225-275lbs. Im at 255lbs from 302 lbs a few years ago.

it gave me a terrible stabbing earache and sore throat . I would rather have high blood pressure , than that !

I was just stared today with this medication 50mg in the morning and Bystolic 10mg at bed time. I’ve bn taking bystolic for two years but lately my numbers are 150/105. The cure is the Keto diet. See Dr. Ken Berry on the UA-cam. I did. I had hypertension, was Type 2 diabetic, and took these pills unnecessarily for most of my adult life. As it turns out, the cause of this health epidemic afflicting millions of Americans is the American Diet. I could not drop the weight and heal until I changed my diet. None of my civilian or VA doctors told me about the Keto diet. I had one Doctor tell me there was really no easy or healthy way to loose the weight. Chances are, your Doctor, like this guy, is not giving you the cure. They are good at explaining the meds, but will not tell you THE CURE. Why? Type 2 can be reversed (mine did) and Type 1 can be treated, but not cured to my knowledge.
Since covid attaches to ACE receptors, does taking Losartan increase or decrease my risk from covid? Thank you!

This drug gave me urine retention. I ended up in the ER to be catheterized for a week of hell. just say no to losartan.

I was taking losartan 50/12.5 hctz and ended up getting low potassium. Switched me to 50 mg losartan and normalized potassium. But I exercise/weightlift 5 days a weeks and my job after about 8 hrs Ive walked around 4 miles. Do I still need to avoid banannas or can I eat one or 2 a day? Do I avoid potassium foods or do I just eat half the daily recommended dosage?
regular blood tests show Potassium,Sodium etc levels in your body...

Did anyone feel like your head was compressed, full of pressure, like in an airplane ✈️. Felt like ear infections because ears so stuffy you can’t hear; very bad migraines with neck tension; light sensitivity; worse when you stand and sit upright. Please do share if you’ve had similar symptoms.

@@jamesmc1016 don't stop taking it, it was only certain batches that were recalled. Speak with your physician to change it to another medication if you are worried.

Been taking Losartan for 4+ years and the worse part of it is the VERTIGO i have got as a side effect ! Terrible as it rules your life, Looking to try something similar without the Dizziness ? Works for some but not for all,

Lorsartan got me super depressed. Has anyone felt this with losartan? Today the doctor switched me to amlodipine. I'm scared with the switching from one medication to another, my body is going to get so screwed up that nothing is going to work.

Sometimes I think my doctor thinks I'm making it up. Losartan has made me so depressed I'm crying all the time like if someone died. I had other ones that made my head hurt so bad I couldn't function at all. I didn't even get out of bed for days.
I saw the video on amlodipine, however , he said something interesting about how the meds don't work on a moderate level of hypertension or hypertension 1. And I believe that I'm just catching the side affects with no result to controlling my blood pressure.

On it two years...has reduced BP to normal levels 50mg
i had 160 over 100 taking 25 mg bring it down to 112 over 69 or Low as 103 over 69 but with some side affect

@La Gloria Es De Dios Yes it did, it worked for me after a week and I started cutting back the amount of salt, for example if I am cooking savoury chicken or chilli beef I would always serve these dishes with Rice, to help my BP I would leave out salt completely from the rice. You get use to not having salt in some foods.I think there's enough salt in the Chicken or Beef dishes to compensate the bland salt less taste of the rice.
