I know this video is old, but just had to say this is an amazing video. I just found my first marbled salamander. I was hoping to find their spawn as well but it is spring.
Ever since you told me that you had found some Marbled Salamanders I was pumped for this episode! You did a great job of demystifying these guys, I think even in the herping community Ambystomatids can present a challenge to find, much less educate about. I learned a ton from this video, and it was especially cool to watch the mothers guarding their eggs like that. Fantastic work as always! - Harrison and Evan
Thanks guys, this was a really fun and collaborative video to make and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Marbled salamanders make for a great amphibian ambassador!
Mudpuppies are tricky and researchers typically use traps to capture them. There are places (natural lakes and rocky streams) where you can see them moving around in the water at night though.
@@deniserobison4115 I’ve heard of everything from chicken liver to dog food but make sure to check your state’s regulations as you may need a permit to trap for mudpuppies.
So awesome
Just went into the field and found 16 marbles today
I would flip out if i ever found one of these
