Mystery Dungeon made me love Wigglytuff. I previously would never have given it the time of day, but damn if that game didn't perfectly characterize the guy.

With the way Wigglytuff takes on rabbit-like features and the implication that both Clefairy and Jigglypuff's lines are from space/the moon, is it possible that there's some sort of "moon rabbit" inspiration at play for Wigglytuff?

There is no clear reason why.
Igglybuff's Emerald Pokédex entry mentions that its skin turns deep pink when it sings. Pokémon Shield says that it gets deep pink when its temperature increases.
I assume it's the rise in blood temperature caused by the great effort put into singing that causes its eyes to turn red.
maybe the pigment for the eyes hasnt developed yet 🤔 like a combination of albinism and how flamingoes get their pink coat

It's a shame we never get to see TB Skyen's face in these videos-that would be a hilarious gag for the next video. Imagine Skyen reviewing Zubat's design with scribbles on his face. He doesn't comment on or react to it, he just stands there.
"Fun" fact: Jigglypuff never pauses for breath while singing. Meaning if it sings at something that is extremely difficult to put to sleep, it risks suffocating because of its singing.
Jigglypuff was my favorite as a kid. I remember freaking out when I unlocked her in Smash 64.
My brother and me used to try saying 'Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff' again and again fast to see who messed up first.
Also, if we were ever talking about Pokemon in front of our parents, we'd always start talking about this line because it would confuse them:"are you two just talking nonsense and pretending to talk about Chinese cartoons, or am I losing my mind and hearing"
That last comment killed me (much like Igglybuff does to orphans)

Wigglytuff is, without a doubt, my favorite Pokemon. Adorable but deadly (at least in my playthrough of Pokemon Blue).
Do be aware that Jigglypuff made her presence known within Smash moreso than Pokemon.

Speaking of consuming the souls of orphans to live can we talk about Wigglytuff's red+blue version sprite that somehow manages to just have big round voids where its eyes are supposed to be?
As a kid it took me years to realize Jigglypuff wasn't a pre-evolution of Clefairy. The two lines are just too similar to one another.

Well, Jigglypuff was just kind of…there to serve as their rival or maybe one of them stole her mic/marker, it’s been a long time.
Libel! Slander! Igglybuff is the most precious and adowable and happy, squishy wittle bundle of joy. I love this child, they and their wittle bouncy self could never hurt any body. They don't have a malicious bone in their perfect, and perfectly spherical self. Cleffa is also adorable but Igglybuff is Superior. >:p

Fun fact; The wigglytuff in the Mystery dungeon games (confirmed to be the same one between games from in-game dialogue) is trans! They change gender between games.
How much of this is actually intentional and how much it is a typo that never got fixed is up for debate with Nintendo's branch studios, honestly;
-On the one hand, you have Nintendo SPD, who literally had to apologize for explicitly not putting LGBT relationships into Tomodachi life despite its growing acceptance in both the west and Japan,
-And on the other you have Intelligent Systems, who put a Trans character into Mario canon in the early 2000s and have had LGBT characters in Fire Emblem since the 5th game in the mid 90s, and also somehow got away with basically explicitly stating two men were in a relationship when FE7 was Translated in the west. (Seriously, the Censors probably only missed it because supports were a bitch to get in that game, but still!)
...So it's really a grab bag of "maybe" here.
(Though, it is worth noting that in 4/5 mystery dungeon games, Charm has no gender restrictions anymore, and the only time it did it was both the game Nintendo itself had the most involvement in *and* was removed by the next game...)

I don't really know Pokemon, but I assume some of those names at the end were just made up?
Igglybuff is just the round ball with red eyes you see in this video and Cleffa is the pre evolution of Clefairy wich he doesn't cover extensively here because is reviewed in the previous video. No made up names, just that he mention them in rapid succession. Also the names of specimens on a evolution line are usually similar so they sound like variation of the first which I suppose it can sound like someones improvising names?
