Call it what you will, but out of the many team compositions that have been adopted by both the community and pros alike have been the implementation of the unlikely duo of Reaper and Mei into the Overwatch metagame.
In today's video, we take a look at the upset that was the 4-0 by the Washington Justice against the Vancouver Titans and how the former made use of the power of Mei and Reaper in this David and Goliath-esque series.

i hope im not too late but im not sure if you know about the eurocup overwatch which is currently held, mostly all european national teams are taking part except for the really big ones whod just roll (uk,france) and russia and iceland.
itd be really nice if you guys made highlights or at least gave a shoutout to them, because i didnt even realize that this was a thing until Wol made a short reminder just today, so i feel like this is a very unknown tournament (sry for the whole comment if im wrong lulz)

This is not the first time Satan and Reaper team up though. First time was season 2 although they team up with different reason.
Season 2 didn't have mie in it, just reaper and Anna
iirc reaper-mei was used a bit after genji got nerfed
Mei was used mainly during first OWC because her ult charge incredibly fast + Mei ult just got radius buffed.

Yes, OWL plays on a different patch than we have live. So far i don´t see reaper and/or mei often, Sym on the other hand is played way more... Elo border Master
The thing is Sym isn't necessarily hard to deal with. She is just so fucking annoying.
They didn't nerf Sym. There was a bug with beams and server ticks that caused her damage to be dramatically lower than it should be. You get much more damage for less than perfect accuracy, and it's enough that even pro players were getting more work done with her as a result. Her damaged was originally balanced for that old behavior however.

Love the production quality on these videos (if it can/should be called that). Taking the time and putting together a custom game to create that intro or having four different Meis each wall off an entrance on Lighthouse to illustrate the point being made goes a long way

So overwatch implements 2-2-2 to end goats but as soon as they do everyone finds a composition to replace it.
No they didn't implement 2-2-2 to end goats and as akshon mentioned in the end, this isn't a 100% played comp. It's map dependant.
@@zandromex8985 True, however goats was the real drive for overwatch to change to 2-2-2. And even though mei and reaper aren't played every map, we are stuck with a limited selection of heroes: reaper/mei/snipers, orisa/hog/dva.

It just shows how great of a game overwatch is. Every character is in the meta from one time to another and it makes the game so much more fun and enjoyable

@@Eric-iq8uo Yeah, with the right use of abilities, the two can stay airborne forever, and with Mercy's damage boost and healing, Pharah can dominate the skies.
@@Eric-iq8uo Have you even played overwatch? Especially in the early days, pharmercy was a fucking nightmare. It was like fighting 2 teams at once. One 4 man on the ground and a bombing squadron in the sky. When Mercy was reworked at first, the res made it even more ridiculous. It has kinda mellowed out now, but on lower ranks pharmercy is still a scary combo.

I'm surprised people weren't doing this before to be frank. Also people should lucio reaper more. When lucio speed boost reaper during his ult, he spins faster and gets more shots out.
"They force Vancouver to come to them." This is something that I have tried to teach people during comp matches. You don't always have to spawn push. Infact you're better off point guarding until the enemy team has around 40 seconds left. Before that time, if you're thrown in spawn, you increase your teams chance of losing the objective if you choose to spawn push.

Overwatch creators: I’m sorry I heard buff twice
Mei + doomfist can be ok as well because you can combo wall with punch. Also you could get a wrecking ball instead of D.va and coordinate dives with doom and ball. You can just setup a wall behind the enemy, boop them into it and piledriver with wrecking ball and then doomfist punches someone into the wall and gets out for free because the enemy wants to focus the hamster.

Washington did really well in stage 4, too bad they didn’t do the same in the other stages. They could’ve gotten a spot in the playoffs

Goats was easily my favorite meta. No shit, I only have a couple hours on every DPS hero lmao and hundreds on the tanks and healers

How does this channel put so much effort into everything it does? What the hell is the editing budget? The quality is absurd. I haven't played OW in like a year and was never interested in the OWL, but the craftsmanship here keeps me coming back.

Zen? His ult will be useless with all the barriers... it will be Mercy/Moira, so that they have a ult that goes through shields.
@@ThatLaloBoy I guess you have yet to encounter a Sigma who knows how to destroy bastion. It is rather easy. You first use shift so he gives you max shields, and then you throw our your shield as you dps, forcing the Bastion to either keep shooting, or heal himself... or even force him to move out of position. Either way, Sigma hard counters Bunker. While it's actually DIVE that counters Sigma.

That's what happens when you make a game with archetypes, certain heroes are stronger than others, then you have metas that players set their teams around. It's a never-ending vicious cycle. OW have given players the "choice" of their role with 2-2-2 but all it did was create other problems.
the first few month are always the best ones since everyone is just messing around and having fun until eventually everyone starts doing the same things since its considered the best.
Pharah mercy junkrat is good against this comp
To just focus damage on the orisa sheild
And then kill the DPS since junk can kill them instatly

This intro was gold, but the explanation not so much.
Missed the opportunity to mention that this comp is only enabled by Orisa that likes to maintain her space and inch close to the enemy step by step.
She makes the safe space that mei and reaper work with. This was closely inspired by the clockwork composition, and should be kinda named after them.
Also this will hardly be the meta as soon as Sigma comes into the game and live patch hits.
